Truth. I feel seen. It's a mental trick I've been playing with myself for more than half my life. What's the next thing I want to be alive to see? What will I regret never getting to see or experience? I kept a handwritten list for a long time. What sublime experience will I see in nature? What new music is going to elevate my soul? What writing is going to make me laugh hysterically? Mostly it's stupid shit no one else understands or cares about. The next U2 album. The next U2 tour. The next season in a TV series or sequel to a movie or next book in a series I'm obsessed with. Right now Good Omens is on the list. I'm not ashamed to admit it. We do what we must to survive.
EDIT: I made the 666th note on this post! Crowley would be proud! *giggle snort*

Crowley Reads The Duino Elegies by Rilke
Crowley reads "The Duino Elegies" by Rainer Maria Rilke. He has a first edition copy signed by Rilke. Crowley annotated the poems in red ink. Some pages are tear stained. He keeps the book locked in a safe where no one else will see it. Hastur, Beelzebub, and Shax would make fun of him if they knew. Crowley tried to discuss Rilke with Aziraphale, but the angel doesn't understand "The Duino Elegies." It's not his taste in poetry. The pain and yearning are beyond Aziraphale's personal experience. That is all. I won't be taking questions. Thanks for coming to my talk.
Part of the First Elegy - Rainer Maria Rilke, Stephen Mitchell, translator
Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels' hierarchies? and even if one of them pressed me suddenly against his heart: I would be consumed in that overwhelming existence. For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we are still just able to endure, and we are so awed because it serenely disdains to annihilate us. Every angel is terrifying.
P.S.: If you have never read "The Duino Elegies," you can read it in the original German, or I recommend the English translation by Stephen Mitchell. It is superior to other translations.

Good Omens Crowley and Aziraphale Reunited Playlist
In anticipation of Good Omens Season 3, here’s the “Crowley and Aziraphale Reunited and It Feels So Good Playlist.” We know our favorite demon and angel will be reunited. Take heart, have faith, and keep hope. Crowley and Aziraphale will be together again, like chocolate and peanut butter. This is music Maggie and Nina would put together in a playlist for a party celebrating the Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship. The songs are about friendship and love.
How ever you as a fan define the love they share – eros, philia, or agape - we know Crowley and Aziraphale love each other. In the Good Omens universe, angels and demons are sexless and genderless. However, they can have genders and sex body parts if they want to. They can be sexual, asexual, binary, nonbinary, romantic, aromantic, hetero, homo, bi, pan. They can be any expression of the spectrum of identities and orientations. Above all else, they can love each other.
Maggie, Nina, Aziraphale, and Crowley are going to sing a karaoke version of “That’s What Friends Are For” at the party.
Please enjoy this unashamedly, unapologetically romantic, silly, sentimental, and sugary playlist (with extra cheesy goodness).
See note after list on song the selection process.
Songs include:
“You’re My Best Friend” – Queen
“Let’s Stay Together” – Al Green
“For Once in My Life” – Stevie Wonder
“Reunited” – Peaches and Herb
“Love and Happiness” – Al Green
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” – Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
“That’s What Friends Are For” – Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Stevie Wonder
“I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” – Aretha Franklin and George Michael
“Can’t Fight this Feeling” – REO Speedwagon
“Time After Time” – Cyndi Lauper
“I’ll Be There” – Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz version
“I’ll Stand by You” – The Pretenders
“I Say a Little Prayer” – Aretha Franklin
“I Honestly Love You” – Olivia Newton John
“God Only Knows” – The Beach Boys
“Don’t Let Me Down” – The Beatles
“Just the Two of Us” – Grover Washington, Jr., ft. Bill Withers
“Just the Way You Are” – Billy Joel
“Your Song” – Elton John
“How Deep is Your Love” – The Bee Gees
“The Air that I Breathe” – K.D. Lang version
“Time in a Bottle” – Jim Croce
“Up Where We Belong” – Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
“Islands in the Stream” – Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers
“Endless Love” – Diana Ross and Lionel Richie
“Almost Paradise” – Mike Reno and Ann Wilson
“Leather and Lace” – Stevie Nicks and Don Henley
“Feels Like Home” – Bonnie Raitt
“In Your Eyes” – Peter Gabriel
“I Want to Know What Love Is” – Foreigner
“Never Tear Us Apart” – INXS
“Eternal Flame” – The Bangles
“Heaven is a Place on Earth” – Belinda Carlisle
“Walking on Sunshine” – Katrina and The Waves
“Never Gonna Give You Up” – Rick Astley
“Everlasting Love” – U2 version
“[I Can’t Help] Falling in Love with You” – UB40 version
“Let’s Get It On” – Marvin Gaye
P.S.: Aziraphale secretly loves romantic duets and rock ballads. He wouldn’t admit it because his personality is classical music. However, he longs to sing karaoke duets with Crowley. “Reunited,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me),” “I’ll Be There,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” “Up Where We Belong,” “Islands in the Stream,” “Endless Love,” “Almost Paradise,” and “Leather and Lace.”
P.P.S.: “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Crowley unironically loves this song, but he invented “Rickrolling,” so Rick Astley would get paid more in song royalties. Who’s laughing now?
P.P.P.S.: “Let’s Get It On.” Crowley has experienced all the infinite varieties of human, demonic, angelic, and supernatural being sexuality and intimacy. Like various “sins” thought up by humans (without demonic influence), he has taken credit for inventing some of the more fun, creative intimate activities. He consulted on the artwork in the Kama Sutra. Crowley secretly wants to snuggle under the blankets with Aziraphale on cold rainy days, but he would never admit it because it would ruin his reputation.
Note on song selection:
Yes, the playlist is exclusively classic pop and rock songs. I’m a Gen Xer. David Tennant and Michael Sheen are Gen Xers. Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett are Boomers. This is the music I grew up listening to. These songs make me feel good. They don’t write songs like this anymore. I’m a cool college English teacher. My job is to corrupt the youth of the nation. Ms. Myers is going to expose you to culture. I’m a cool spinster aunt. Auntie Amy is gonna learn you about oldies music. I selected songs that thematically fit with the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley. Listen to the lyrics. They fit. The list flows. You may not like my choices, so your mileage may vary. You can make your own playlist.
You can listen to it on YouTube.

True story. My boy Bubba was returned to the shelter three times before my then boyfriend adopted him and our other cat, Elvis. The shelter workers said Bubba was brough back because he was emotionally needy and didn't behave. Long story short, I had to invite the psycho boyfriend to move out of my house. After he moved out, he was going to return his cats to the shelter, where they would be euthanized. I got rid of the man and kept both cats. Best decision I ever made! Elvis crossed the rainbow bridge in 2016. Bubba is still with me. He's 20 years old. He's a big boi and a heckin' chonker. He has the loudest purr. My Caterwauling Numpty. Look at that crooked ear! He's so cute!

My 20 year old cat, Bubba, is a Caterwauling Numpty. He is screaming because he's going deaf and can't hear where I am in the house. He screams so I will come find him. He screams after using the litter box because he has chronic bladder problems. He also screams because other cats come up on the porch or hang out in the back yard. He has to tell those other cats to get out of there, this is his place. His screams sound like a colicky baby. He screams about 20 times a day. Sometimes I think he's screaming into the Void. I want to scream into the Void, too, my little man.

The Boopening final statistics!
Boop Breakdown
Well, you did it. You booped. You booped all over your dashboard with reckless abandon, your finger gnashing away at the boop button, much like a lovely raccoon discovering a glorious half-eaten baked potato. A treasure was presented, and you knew you deserved it. You deserved to boop. Collectively, you booped 142,566,897 times. To repeat: one hundred forty-two million five hundred sixty-six thousand eight hundred ninety-seven boops were had on tumblr dot com the website and the app.
Specifically:
Normal boops: 119,204,929
Self boops: 12,645,652
Cat boops: 7,925,241
Super boops: 2,095,231
Mischievous, aka evil boops: 695,844
One particularly boopable Tumblr was booped a total of 874,212 times. To be so rich in boops is a blessing. The Tumblr that gave the most boops found it in their heart to bestow 127,073 boops upon those they found worthy.
Over 500,000 Tumblrs were booped and booped back in return. And for what? What would drive so many to boop? Does Tumblr yearn for the boop mines? Well, yes. And also the guts, the glory, the prestige, and, of course, the badges. Oh, how you worked for those badges:
Booper participants: 229,881
Booper enthusiasts:  85,548
Booper supers:  67,571
Hold your heads high, Tumblr. You booped until you couldn’t boop anymore. You created incredible fanart, invented a whole new genre of -sonas, and even created your own premium, high-end awards. It was noble, it was boop. We hope you boop yourself, and boop for boop. Boop, boop boop? Boop, boop. Boop boop boop, boop boop; Boop! Boop!
Boop,

Tumblr Boop-O-Meter The Boopening
The Boopening of 2024.
My final boop count: 215 given, 192 received.
My strategy for booping:
1) Boop everyone who liked one of my blog posts.
2) Boop everyone who shared one of my blog posts.
3) Boop everyone who followed my blog.
4) Boop my friends.
5) Boop famous people after they finally got brave enough to turn on their boop-o-meters.
6) Boop blogs that I follow regularly.
7) Search Tumblr for "boop o meter," scroll through all the posts, and dispense boops based on:
A) Person shared a cool picture or meme.
B) Person asked for more boops to achieve their personal boop goals.
C) Person shared a kind message about booping others.
Normally, my engagement on Tumblr is very passive. I'm relatively new to the site and am still figuring out how it works and how to engage with others (and not be annoying or stupid).
Happy Boop Day! It's been fun.

Good Omens Aziraphale's Sad Bastard Breakup Playlist
After the breakup, Aziraphale has a new job in heaven, having taken Gabriel’s vacant position. Aziraphale is haunted by sad music reminding him of his time with Crowley. The songs are dramatic, tragic, melancholic, angry, wistful, romantic, and sentimental. How does he listen to music at his new job in the head office? Are material objects allowed? Does he keep a secret stash of tea, cake, and records and a phonograph player in his office? Does he have a celestial radio that can tune in Earth radio stations? Does he sneak off to Earth to hang out in record shops and bookstores? Or more dramatically and emotionally torturously, does he remember every note, every nuance, every feeling, of every song and replay them in his mind? He's stuffing his face with angel food cake and tea while crying and listening to sad bastard songs and hiding from Michael and the Metatron.
See note after list on song selection process.
Songs include:
“Lacrimosa” – Mozart, Requiem in D Minor, Vienna Mozart Orchestra
“Commendatore” – Mozart, Don Giovanni, Amadeus film soundtrack
“Ja, tot katoramu vnimala” – Rubenstein, The Demon, Nicolai Ghiaurov
“D’amour l’ardente flemme” – Berlioz, The Damnation of Faust, Maria Callas
“Liebestod” – Wagner, Tristan and Isolde, Waltraud Meier
“Ach ich fuhls” – Mozart, The Magic Flute, Gundula Janowitz
“Thy hand, Belinda … When I am laid in earth” – Purcell, Dido and Aeneas, Janet Baker
“E lucevan la stelle” – Puccini, Tosca, Placido Domingo
“Celeste Aidia” – Verdi, Aida, Mario Lanza
“Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen” Mahler, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
“Der Wanderer” – Schubert, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
“Love is a Plaintive Song” – Gilbert and Sullivan, Patience, D’Oyly Carte Opera Company
“I am a Courtier Grave and Serious” – Gilbert and Sullivan, The Gondoliers, D’Oyly Carte Opera Company
“The Gentleman is a Dope” – Rodgers and Hammerstein, Allegro, Blossom Dearie
“A Hymn to Him” – Lerner and Lowe, My Fair Lady, Rex Harrison
“Could I Leave You?” – Sondheim, Follies, Alexis Smith
“We Do Not Belong Together” – Sondheim, Sunday in the Park with George, Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin
“On My Own” – Schonberg, Les Misérables, Frances Ruffelle
“As Long as He Needs Me” – Bert, Oliver, Judy Garland
“Stranger in Paradise” – Wright and Forest, Kismet, Richard Kiley and Doretta Morrow
“A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” – Sherwin and Maschwitz, Vera Lynn
“Night and Day” – Porter, The Gay Divorcee, Ella Fitzgerald
“I’ve Got You Under My Skin” – Porter, Born to Dance, Shirley Bassey
“Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” – Rodgers and Heart, Pal Joey, Sarah Vaughan
“They Can’t Take That Away From Me” – Gershwin, Shall We Dance, Fred Astaire
“Mon Deu” – Dumont and Vaucaire, Edith Piaf
“Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” – Dumont and Vaucaire, Edith Piaf
P.S.: Aziraphale likes Les Mis because it reminds him of that time Crowley rescued him from the Bastille. Don't tell anyone. It's a big secret.
P.P.S.: “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” reminds him of the time he and Crowley got drunk in the backroom at the bookshop the day the anti-Christ was delivered to Earth. Basically, this song reminds him of every time they went out for drinks or stayed in and drank.
P.P.P.S.: “I am a Courtier Grave and Serious” was the song Aziraphale planned to play when trying to tempt Crowley into learning the gavotte. It reminds him of the ball in the bookstore when he finally danced with Crowley.
P.P.P.P.S.: “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” is as close as Aziraphale can get to telling the world and Crowley to eff off. He has no more effs to give. Or at least he’s trying to convince himself he no longer gives a f***. He’s going off to his new job at the head office and Do Good.
Note on song selection:
I selected songs that thematically fit with the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley. I think the songs tell a story of Aziraphale’s struggle to reconcile his conflicted motivations. They reflect Aziraphale’s fears and desires. He fears being hauled off to hell for disobedience. He fears Crowley’s death and being alone in the world. He desires to be emotionally intimate with Crowley. (Dare he risk physical intimacy with Crowley?) He feels self-righteously indignant, but he’s soft and squishy and weepy and misses his best friend.
I don’t have much knowledge of opera or musical theater, but I have some experience with choir and solo performance. I did a lot of research into opera, art songs, musicals, showtunes, and standards to create a playlist on YouTube. Selections were based on availability, popularity, and sound quality. My big question was whether or not Aziraphale is a strict originalist or if he likes different versions of songs. In some places, I chose newer versions over original versions due to the sound quality of the recordings. I tried to keep selections accessible to a wide audience with varying degrees of musical knowledge. You may not like my choices, so your mileage may vary. You can make your own playlist.
You can listen to it on YouTube.

Good Omens Crowley's Sad Bastard Breakup Playlist
After the breakup, every time Crowley goes to drink at the Dirty Donkey pub, across the way from A.Z. Fell's bookshop, the jukebox mysteriously starts playing bitter breakup and sad bastard songs. Songs that aren't on the jukebox play when other songs are selected. It's like some demonic miracle. This also happens on the radio in Crowley's Bentley.
See note after list on song the selection process.
Songs include:
"Pale Blue Eyes" - The Velvet Underground
"I'd Rather Go Blind" - Etta James
"Cry Me a River" - Ella Fitzgerald
"Till the Heart Caves In" - Roy Orbison, K.D. Lang version
"Wicked Game" - Chris Isaak
"Crying in the Rain" - Everly Brothers, a-ha version
"Ain't No Sunshine" - Bill Withers
"It's Too Late" - Carole King
"Nothing Compares 2 U" - Prince, Sinead O'Connor or Chris Cornell versions
"Running Up That Hill" - Kate Bush
"One" - U2
"Crucify" - Tori Amos
"Hallelujah" - Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley version
"Lovesong" - The Cure
"I Don't Believe in the Sun" - The Magnetic Fields
"Love Will Tear Us Apart" - Joy Division
"Blue Monday" - New Order, Orkestra Obsolete version
"Never Let Me Down Again" - Depeche Mode
"Tainted Love" - Soft Cell
"Careless Whisper" - Wham!
"I Thought You Were My Boyfriend" - The Magnetic Fields
"Somebody to Love" - Queen
"Love Hurts" - Nazareth
"Love Stinks" - The J. Geils Band
"One More Minute" - Weird Al Yankovic
Despite himself, Crowley is compelled to visit Maggie's record shop to purchase copies of these songs.
Crowley has been sleazing around the backroom of the bookshop, crying and drinking, under the guise of helping Muriel run the place, but actually he's selling Aziraphale's books out of revenge.
P.S.: “Pale Blue Eyes” reminds Crowley of Aziraphale’s eyes. Every time he plays The Velvet Underground in his car, he remembers the time Aziraphale made a stinky poopoo face and called their music bebop.
P.P.S.: “Till the Heart Caves In.” Aziraphale stole Crowley’s dreams and sold them for dust. He always knew that angel was a bit of a bastard. Crowley remembers meeting young Roy Orbison and suggesting he wear sunglasses. A rock icon was born.
P.P.P.S.: “Wicked Game” reminds Crowley of the time when the bookstore burned down, Crowley rushed in to rescue his best friend Aziraphale but was too late. Later the same day, the M25 motorway was on fire. Then his beloved Bentley was destroyed by fire. To this day, Crowley can’t tell what hurt him more, losing Aziraphale or losing his Bentley, until they were both returned to him by Adam Young. He’s a good lad.
P.P.P.P.S.: “Crying in the Rain.” No one should see a demon cry. Crowley does his crying the shower. Earth rain showers, even thunderstorms, are also cathartic for crying in, unlike the swampy, wet bits of the fifth circle of Hell.
P.P.P.P.P.S.: “Nothing Compares 2 U” reminds Crowley of the times he and Aziraphale dined at the Ritz. Well, now he can eat at any fancy restaurant he wants without Aziraphale. Only now the food tastes bland and the drinks taste flat.
P.P.P.P.P.P.S.: “One.” This achingly beautiful song about relationships feels like a knife in the heart and punch in the gut. “We get to carry each other.” It’s too true. It hurts. F*** that angel for leaving him. The song reminds Crowley of his time hanging out with Brian Eno in Berlin in the early 1990s. He had fun running around with the band from Ireland. Crowley and Bono discussed corrupt religious leaders and the writings of C.S. Lewis. He suggested sunglasses to Bono. Then Bono took it further. The Fly, the Mirrorball Man, and MacPhisto were born. The rest is rock ‘n roll history. Crowley is especially pleased with himself for influencing Bono.
P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S.: “Hallelujah.” Crowley remembers helping manifest nebulae and stars with Aziraphale. Crowley was the one who gave the secret chord to David, yet David got the credit for pleasing the Lord. In a rare occurrence for deceased rock stars, Heaven got Jeff Buckley.
P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S.: “Never Let Me Down Again.” Crowley thinks of all the times he and Aziraphale went for a drive in the Bentley. Aziraphale let him down. Curse the wretched, brightly shining stars. Nothing is alright.
P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S.: “One More Minute.” This Weird Al song suggested something, an act of revenge to get closure. Crowley thought about the malt shop Aziraphale liked to go, but then reconsidered arson because innocent people might get hurt.
Note on song selection:
I selected songs that thematically fit with the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale. This is what I call sad bastard music. What songs would match Crowley’s angry, bitter brooding? What songs would make him laugh? What songs would break him and make him cry? These are all songs that I like. You may not like my choices, so your mileage may vary. You can make your own playlist.
NOTE: Revised 3 April 2024 to include P.S. notes about the songs and the obligatory U2 reference. (I'm not sorry.)
NOTE: Revised 9 April 2024 to include songs by The Magnetic Fields, one of Neil Gaiman’s favorite bands. I must make this playlist pleasing to the co-creator of Good Omens.
You can listen to it on YouTube.

Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.

You dang nerds! Liking badly-drawn, dorky artwork! You prove why Diane Duane and Spock's World are the best. They mean something special in our nerdy hearts.
Thank you @omgpurplefattie and everyone who got me to 100 reblogs!
Spock's World Inspired Holiday Card circa 1992
December 1992. Spock's World was among my favorite novels. I had just turned 19 years old that month. In keeping with the tradition of making holiday cards, that year I drew artwork inspired by a scene in Spock's World, the Star Trek novel by Diane Duane.
No computer. No printer. This was 1992. I drew it in pencil and darkened it with ink. The message was all hand lettered. My dad made copies of the artwork at his office. Each copy was colored by hand with colored pencils and crayons.
The image centers on the IDIC symbol, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination, a concept central to Vulcan philosophy. Diane Duane wrote the most beautiful passage in Spock's World that simply explained the meaning of IDIC. I copied the passage for the message inside the card. The IDIC symbol was surrounded by animals, plants, and other organisms representing the biodiversity of Earth.
The passage from Spock's World was from a scene where Surak was in the desert and saw the giant sandworm-like creature, referred to as the Underlier (called A'kweth or Tcha'besheh). Both beings paused and beheld one another, the Underlier and the Vulcan, in the vast desert under the light of T'Khut (called The Watcher), Vulcan's sister planet.
"How delightful to be so different from something. No need to understand them, particularly; that might come with time and would be an added delight. But it was enough to accept their difference, to celebrate just that without anything added. Creation, in itself, was joy, the difference was joy, the celebration of it was joy."

The passage in the novel continued:
"There was nothing that could stand against that joy: sooner or later it would triumph. All evil, all death, was a tiny, fretting, posturing thing that knew its own defeat was coming, and it might rage and destroy as it liked. It was doomed. Celebration would win, was winning, had won now. Everything was one moment, and the moment was nothing but triumph and joy."
This resonated with my 18/19 year old self. This still resonates with me today. Oh, my heart! I cry for joy! Such beautiful ideas and words to live by!
Regretfully, I didn't credit the author on the card at the time. I assumed friends and family wouldn't care. It was yet another weird, cheap, homemade holiday card from their weirdo sister / niece / daughter / student / friend.
I hope you enjoy the amateur artwork and Diane Duane's message. Enjoy the diversity and differences. Embrace and embody IDIC.
Thank you, @dduane.
Peace and long life,
Amy
