I totally get it! And honestly there are so many things I wanted to write down in my post before, but I just wasnât quite sure how people would react if I made it much longer then it already is đđ
And especially the role that genders have, whenever people are writing x Reader. Like sometimes people write genderneutral!reader, and somehow still manage to describe them as if it was a male or female reader.
The standards that they tend to describe the reader with, both in the way they look and act is so frustrating. Itâs always the âtiny waist, plush lips, thick thighs, doe eyes, and petite small body with an innocent smileâ. Itâs almost like theyâre saying âif you donât look like this, you canât fit the standard role of the readerâ. WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE. The way a person looks doesnât define the way they act, and the way a person acts doesnât define the way they look, itâs actually pretty simple.
And of course, a lot of the times where the reader is described, it tends to make the actual reader uncomfortable. And it makes sense, itâs like a bunch of standard suddenly being put on oneself, and then it feels weird to read the fic because like, âi donât fit these standard for this, this is literally nothing like me.â And it really makes the fic way less enjoyable.
AND HONESTLY, can we please stop tagging things as âx readerâ WHEN ITS A LITERAL OC. Like it just doesnât make sense to be literally writing about oneâs OWN character, and then calling it âx readerâ. LIKE IT JUST DOESNâT MAKE SENSE. If your going to write âx readerâ then donât describe them. Or at least put some disclaimers such as: the reader is shorter then the inserted characters, the reader personality is based off of (insert thing). Stuff like that really gives people a different way of viewing ones content, and makes it easier for people to tell if they actually want to read the fic. đđ
Warning!!: personal opinion.
so, I have read so many x reader fanfics, and this one thing honestly really annoys me.
Can we stop describing the reader? And by that I mean saying stuff like; her plump lips, silky hair, smooth skin, rosy cheeks, big doe eyes, plush thighs, big t*ts etc.
I mean,itâs supposed to be âx readerâ right? Then why are we describing the reader?? It doesnât make sense, because not everyone can relate to that so called description of âreaderâ. It almost like your just putting beauty standards into your fic and what you expect the reader to look like.
It would be fine if you said something like; their (hair colour) hair, their (eye colour) eyes etc.
By doing that itâs way easier for the reader to relate to the fic and actually enjoy it, because most people probably wouldnât want to read a fic that they canât relate to at all.
So please stop directly describing the looks of the reader, thanks <333
