This week was my birthday week. I grilled oysters, waded in water, listened to trees, cuddled my dog, made pancit from my pamilya recipe, laughed with my beloved.

I didn’t think I’d make it to 21. I’ve made it through my 30s. In this decade I: survived homelessness, survived abusive partnerships, survived medical complex, had 7 surgeries including hysterectomy, wrote 2.5 books & countless speeches, loved 2 dogs, routinely fed over 12 cats, founded & left many collectives, embraced ancestors blood & queer alike. This is the summary an earth sign scribbles in the middle of the woods over a mug of coffee.

I’m 40. As a #Nonbinary #Transgender #Disabled POC, I really don’t have many models. So yeah. There’s that joy & unknown!

So many times I didn’t want to be here. But I am. I’m still here. I can’t believe it. Thank you for your support & glow that keeps nourishing, that keeps us here together🥄😷💜

Caring For Our Own: LGBTQ adults supporting LGBTQ kids

[ Image description I really enjoyed speaking with you yesterday and hearing a bit about your story. I believe you would be an amazing home for youth in foster care. I did get a chance to speak with my supervisor and she was also excited to hear you had reached out. Unfortunately, she does not know a way we could license you without there being a separate bedroom. I told her that when you spoke with DCF they thought there might be a way, but from her experience this has never been allowed before. If there is a way we would love to make it work, my supervisor has always just heard a hard no on this from DCF Central Office. I really hope there is a way for you to be able to foster and if so we would love to work with you. It just seems like at the present moment there is not a path that we are at least aware of to make that work. One thought we did have is in order to license a home, it does not have to be a legal bedroom with a closet. The room just needs a door, be a minimum of 50 square feet, have a bed, and place to store clothes. Potentially something like this could be found in an apartment that is listed as a one bedroom. Hello Friends, Family and Friends we have not met.

We are trying to move to a bigger home so that way we can start fostering LGBTQ+ Teens in need. Without a bigger space and a room for a child we unfortunately cannot get licensed.

I have spoken to many fostering organizations and have finally settled on the one I think will be best for our soon to be family. Cambridge Family and Children Services which also happens to be the same organization that I was fostered through this is why I know its the best.

They are attentive and work closely with the families and I believe they truly care about the youth that come through their doors. So we are asking our community YOU to help us, help our community by donating. Help us secure a home that we may support an LGBTQ+ foster child in need. This will take care of First, Last and a security deposit and any money that maybe left over will help us to provide a brand new bedroom set for our foster child. Thank you. Get the word out

This is a Q&A documentary surrounding seven trans people of color from 2014/2016.  Please excuse the quality of the video, files have been passed around many computers and sd cards, that weren't always compatible and unfortunately there was nothing I could do about it. There was no budget for this film just donated labor and non professional grade equipment that I am truly grateful to have been able to use. I hope to continue on making documentaries maybe with more help, support and donations.
