okay. i honestly never thought i’d be making one of these posts, but here goes.
my name is mikell. i’m eighteen years old (turning nineteen in july) and i am currently living with my parents despite desperately wishing otherwise.
for the past five years my mental state has fluctuated, largely due to my struggles with bipolar II and other health conditions. this has left me without friends or resources other than my parents. my parents have been taking advantage of that fact for a long time, but did not stop when i turned eighteen. it’s taken me a while to come to terms with the fact that they don’t plan on stopping, and without outside help i will never be able to escape their absolute influence on my life.
i am trying to save up enough money to move out but it’s slow going. they do not allow me to have a job or a driver’s license, and I only have access to the internet because i was able to procure an iphone 4s and hack into their wifi connection. it’s only a matter of time before they find out and confiscate the device, which will leave me without any link to the outside world.
i feel terrible for asking for help, because they feed me and my dog and pay for my medication, but. I’m not sure how many more years I can take being trapped in this house. if i can save up enough money to support Hazel and i while i find a job and a place to live near my sister, i’ll be able to get back on my feet.
