Coach Sid Vildosola surely is fast because he was able to save his younger cousin from an accident when he was just 13 years old. They were in a rice mill when his cousin's malong got caught in the grinding machine and he immediately helped her, him losing his right arm instead. READ ALSO: #RioOlympics: Inspiring Pinoy polio victim nabs bronze Paralympic medal Though it was such a painful and tragic accident, Coach Sid still looked at the brighter side and said: “Kung hindi nadurog at naputol yung arm ko, buong katawan ko na sana yung kakainin ng machine.”  (If my arm was not crushed and did not break, the machine could have eaten my whole body.) Coach Sid represented the country in the 2015 World Paralympics Marathon in London. He has also been competing in Southeast Asian and Asian Games and has earned nine golds, one silver, and one bronze medal.

Differently abled Filipino athletes surely prove that having a disability is not a hindrance in bringing pride not only to one's self but even to the country. Paralympic Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes with a range of disabilities, is one great platform in honing and showcasing differently abled athletes' skills and providing them an opportunity to prove themselves, bring pride to their respective countries, and most especially, inspire many. Here are 6 of our country's very own Paralympic athletes who proved that they are capable despite being disabled.

Ang totoo natatakot ako mag open up about sayo kasi ayoko na ulit maramdaman yung sakit nung nawala ka, pero di naman pala ganon kabigat. Yung totoo medyo gumaan nga siya e. Sana mabasa mo to nay. Miss na miss na po kita. Yung naghahatid sundo lagi sakin sa school kasi ang lala ng separation anxiety ko dati. Salamat po sa lahat nanay. Ang totoo nao-overwhelm na talaga ako sa lahat ng bagay. Old Man Brandon is a rap artist with a truly diverse sound. He has an eclectic taste for music, often listening to all sorts of genres. He isn’t just a fan of great hip-hop but also rock, electronica, alternative, and so much more. Listening to many different artists and genres enabled the artist to learn much more about great songwriting. A great song transcends genres and styles, and it is all about connecting with people. Aware po ba kayo sa problema ng komunidad ng sta maria? - "Oo, aware kami."

Ano anong mga hakbang ang pinaplano o ginagawa nyo para matugunan ito? - "Yung problema sa traffic, sa traffic kase ang nagiging problema rito ay unang-una yung population natin lumolobo at umuunlad yung ating bayan syempre yung traffic natin pag umunlad ang bayan marami din sasakay na tao. Bayan natin nag-iimprove ng mga daan, syempre pagka ang daan mo ay under construction  talagang may traffic don. Ngayon ang ginagawa naming solusyon dyan, dahil maraming ginagawa sa ating bayan na daan, kalsada gumagawa kami ng alternative routes tapos ang pamahalaang bayan ay nakikipag-coordinate sa mga contractor nab aka naman pu-pwede na hindi sa busy hours gawin ang construction ng mga kalsada. Kung hindi maiiwasan, ma-minimize sana yung traffic kase di naman talaga maiiwasan na mag-traffic sa mga ginagawang kalsada dahil one way  lang yon ,ginagawa namin na baka pwede sa gabi gumawa, sa umaga puno ng traffic enforcer. Nakikipagtulungan kami sa mga contractor na maiwasan o maibsan ang traffic dito sa atin. Pangalawa doon sa LGBT, ako, personal talagang nakasuporta ako sa mga programa ng LGBT at sa gender equality talagang sinusuportahan ko noong nangangampanya ako. Ang problema lang, yun nga yung LGBT, yung mga kapatid natin na miyembro ng LGBT minsan may mga tao dito na hindi tanggap sila, kaya pino-promote yung gender equality diba, pino-promote, mapa-babae ka, mapa-lalaki ka, or bi, bisexual, gay pino-promote nila na pantay-pantay,pino-promote natin yon, sinusuportahan natin yon. Ngayon, kung ang problema ay binabastos ang mga LGBT members, kung yun ang nagiging problema, syempre kami tutugon ipapatawag naming ang, meron kasing ano yan eh, meron kasing mga officers yan an LGBT community natin, ipapatawag natin ang mga elected officers nila tsaka natin ipapatawag yung mga nagkaroon ng problema sa kanila tsaka natin didinggin kung ano yung naging problema tsaka natin susulosyunan kase kung meron pang ibang mga problema na hindi natin alam kailangan muna nating pagharapin para malaman natin kung paano maayos yun."

Summary of the interview

Issues mentioned were traffic and issues on LGBT community. According to the Councilor’s statement regarding with traffic he said, overpopulation caused traffic that requires high demands on vehicles, alongside with the development of the town of Sta. Maria. They asked the contractors to do the fixing of roads at night, so that no one will be bothered since there are fewer vehicles at night. With these road projects he adds, that they are creating alternative routes to ease traffic, and that traffic is inevitable when there are roads being fix. With regards to the issues on LGBT, he stated that he supported the LGBT throughout his campaign and now that he is an elected official. The problems is that people still are not open and do not accept the LGBT. With this he said, if there are any problems and complaints they are the one who will be in charge and help, listening and forming the right action to do. With the last question, he make he has this connection and openness to people by means of his programs, projects, and roaming around the barangay to consult problem around the community.

With my observations regarding this, citizens feel the struggles of the issues raised. We cannot say that the plan is and will be effective unless it is done. Fixing this is long process, maybe 3 years term is not enough. It is a crucial part of development is the citizen as they serve as an eye opener and the ones who experience it first-hand.

Minsan ang dami mong gustong sabihin pero hindi mo naman masabi.  Hindi mo maisigaw kase hindi naman maiintindihan ng mga tao na nakapaligid sa iyo… katulad ng hindi nila maiintindihan ang takbo ng utak mo… paano nila maiintindihan kung ikaw mismo na may-ari… na nag-iisip eh hindi mo maintindihan ang sarili mo.  Sabi ko dati sa sarili ko, hindi ako pwedeng magmahal kase hindi ko kayang mahalin ang sarili ko. Mahirap kase kung hilaw…. Mahirap kapag pilit. Noong isang umaga, may kausap ako.  Sabi ko sa kanya, marinig ko lang ang salitang annulment eh nagpapanic na ako… kaya nagdadalawang isip ako.  Humingi ako ng paumanhin dahil alam ko na hindi makatarungan yung iniisip ko. Unfair.  Pero sinasabi ko lang ang totoong nararamdaman ko.  Natatakot ako, dahil hanggang ngayon, hinahabol pa din ako ng nakaraan ko… ang daming pagbabagong nagaganap sa paligid ko na may kinalaman sa akin, at alam ko na makakaapekto sa magiging buhay ko sa hinaharap.  Sobrang natatakot ako.  Baka hindi ko makaya. Baka hindi ko kayang maibahagi ang mga totoong dahilan… mga nangyari… Madaling sabihin na sa isang relasyon, dalawang tao lang ang importante, pero mali eh… dahil ang mga tao sa paligid ng dalawang magkarelasyon ay may parte sa paghubog ng kaisipan at katauhan ng magkarelasyon. At doon ako hindi confident. Sa kagaya kong halos nawasak ang buhay, takot na takot ako na hindi ako magiging sapat para sa iba… takot na takot ako na hindi ako maging katanggap tanggap… takot na takot ako na pagdating ng panahon, maipapamukha sa akin ng pagkakataon na hindi tama na mamuhay ako ng nasa pedestal dahil basura lang ako kung tutuusin. Ang hirap maniwala na sapat ang pagmamahal … nakakatakot dahi sa ngayon, masaya ako…. Natatakot ako nab aka bigla na lang gumuho ang lahat….
