every time i see a hl stan on tiktok say “theres enough lgbt rep” and shit like “why do straight ships get so much hate but lgbt ships dont” 50 years are taken off my life

I. Are there people actually. Saying this .It just goes to show you things. [otgw Greg voice] And by things i mean that lgbt folk can't have one fucking thing that's ours. You say "go make your own show if you want to see rep" and Dana did. And now youre complaining and boo-hooing and whining that there's no representation for you in there. Like, uh, yeah! It's not fucking for you! Oh cry, cry I am uncomfortable when we are not about me. That's it. That's what h/l shippers sound like. Clearly we don't have enough rep if that's the kind of reaction we're getting to the first show with a queer main character in a wlw relationship on Disney. I'm taking a stance. I don't fucking care if it's young girls that see themselves in Willow or look up to her and just want a pretty boy to love them. If you think lgbt people being uncomfortable with a m/f ship that has no solid backing in the show is a threat to you somehow, you are the problem and I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the fact that I didn't get these kinds of cartoons with explicit lgbt rep at my age and y'all do, and instead of cherishing it straight fans are stomping all over it in favor of a straight passing ship. Yes, Hunter has canon bi imagery, but even that hasn't been explicitly stated in canon and Willow's sexuality has never been touched on. So whether it's actually straight or not, with the context we have in the show it's straight passing at the least and if a single fucking person comes at me yelling biphobia, they will get the same response they've always got. It's not biphobic to dislike two characters together especially when I've actively made content of the bi implied character being with both fem and masc people lmao. Just because I don't like your shitty ship doesn't make me biphobic- I just have good taste. You know why straight ships get so much hate? Because you guys pull shit like this and I'm tired of it. As a queer person that wishes cartoons like Gravity Falls when I was a teen could have had lgbt rep like TOH does, I'm fucking tired of it. Huntlow is boring, bland, and as much as you all hate it, Willow canonically does not like him back :-) Just a quick rebuttal to all the "Well whether you like it or not, Hunter canonically has a crush on Willow" comments I've got. Because guess what? That can be flipped right the fuck around on its head.

From what I heard from the few industry peeps, that comment could be about like 4 different actors from a bunch of both m/m and f/f super popular ships. There are a ton of people in the business who just can't stand each other, but are total pros so their rabid stans have NO IDEA! And it always made me chuckle. Like maybe some of your followers CO are talking the Flopdred as rule but it's an exception. All the tea was great and we had fun with it but it was also super unprofessional and a rarity. Usually peeps keep that shit under wraps.

One of two things is going to happen when you stick people who tend to have healthy egos (you usually have to in order to be a performer) together for 14-16 hours a day, 6 months out of the year, in usually pretty grueling conditions: they're either going to love each other or eventually start to hate each other. It's inevitable.

You know most of the Queer Eye guys hate each other, right? That is a very not-so-secret public secret like Ellen being a monster used to be. There's a couple that are actual friends in real life (I know Tan and Antoni are) but that entire production is A MESS because they all want to be the center of attention and have real life fights about who has the most social media followers. There was a time that the moment that the cameras cut, Karamo and Antoni had to go to different rooms because they couldn't even look at each other. I heard that has gotten better and they can now at least be adults about it. They do at least come together to do one thing, they're all HORRIBLE to Bobby lol. Apparently he gets so disrespected on that show by the other four that it's actually sad. But like...THAT is how big of a spectacle some of these things can be where even something as seemingly wholesome as Queer Eye can be a toxic disaster behind the scenes.

Stop going by appearances and by what celebs show you on interviews and social media for five minutes. Y'all have no fucking clue what is actually going on and who they really are. TRUST ME. It's why celebrity worship and stan culture has to go. You don't fucking know these people. You never will. You know the persona they put on for you, you know the character they create for the public but you don't know THEM. Being a celebrity is one big performance. It's why you need to stop shipping people because "Oh my good look at them. LOOK AT HOW THEY TREAT EACH OTHER." It's called being an actor, Rebecca. They get paid to do this every day. They know how to be professional around their castmembers. They know how to turn it on for the cameras. They know how to be charming lol.

It goes beyond actors tho. I'm friends with someone who dated one of the biggest musicians on the planet for a long time some years ago. People sing big hits they wrote about my friend. The way that musician is a COMPLETELY different human than the carefully fabricated persona their team have created for them is almost laughable. But their stans eat it up because they just don't know better. I'm not saying they're a bad person. They're lovely and funny and dope, they're just not at all the same person as the front facing character they sell to the world. That's what being a celebrity is. It's just another big act. They've been dating someone else for a while now and there's this almost fairtytale love story built around them with a backstory that literally doesn't make sense in terms of timeline and a ton of other small stuff to anyone who actually knows them. Those of us who are looking from the outside are constantly like "Uh wtf is this??? Lol" but again...stans eat that shit up. So their personality is half an act and half of the facts of their relationship are fudged to the point of almost not being true. For the record, I'm not saying the relationship is fake. They ARE together. They're just rewriting how they got together to make it sound more romantic cuz that's the shit that sounds good in interviews and sells love songs. Basically you know nothing about these people and you think you do.

Stop. Treating. Celebrities. Like. Friends.

I fuck around here a lot but at the end of the day I'm quite fucking aware that unless I have direct and reliable information otherwise, anyone and everyone I reblog on here is as much of a stranger to me as the person I saw on the street a month ago. I don't know them. At all. I know the script they've sold me, but I don't know THEM. You don't either. Doesn't matter how open they seem. Never forget that.

Your tags on having to stan men if your lesbians, oh i feel them. I feel like in online/fandom space staning men has become a personality trait, to the detriment of women and women character. And like, I'm a lesbian and I like actors and men characters but the way they are constantly praised over women.. the first time I felt it was when people were making thor lesbian icon meme when there's canon lesbian in marvel. Or hozier lesbian icon over irl lesbian singer and artist.. hes good but come on

I'm sorry for the late reply but it's so nice not to be alone, I swear sometimes I just....metaphorically stare at everyone trying to decipher them. I know everyone's different but there are lesbians who will outright shun every male presence ever (mostly to the detriment of bi women, them denying their bisexuality because they think it makes them lesser wlw, hating on every f/m ship on the sole basis of it being het, never mind that it's interracial or neither of them is straight, etc) and then there are ones who are obsessed with male characters and will rather ignore/dimish/hate on the female characters in their fandoms, when the women are the leads! like in TOG! how often does that happen when they're also this well developed?? and then turn around and complain about the lack of well written female characters and wlw relationships. Like??? Make it make sense. Supporting wlw content is not saying once in a blue moon that they're sad there's not more of it and then high tailing it back to their myriad of mlm ships, because they're supposedly the only source of good queer rep. But yes, why isn't there more good wlw. I do wonder, hmmmm, very confounding

And I love men too, for all the shit I talk the original character I've drawn the most for is a cis man, at least recently. Two of my favourite ships feature a man. I get it, I'm not saying we should all stop liking and making content about men. But good fucking lord, give the the women some love too! Especially in the fandom of media they're the gODDAMN LEADS OF!!

Also I love Thor! He's actually one of the few men I've been invested in. And then Endgame turned him into a fatphobic tasteless joke and Love and Thunder will have Chris Ratt and the guardians, i think, plus less and less chances of Thorkyrie happening because I can't have nice things, apparently. Great example of both people focusing on the man in the name of the lesbians and lesbians baffling me once again when they rode so fucking hard for V*lCarol while Thorkyrie and Danbeau (Carol/Maria)? are right there? and they make more sense?? but right, a straight ship, ew (and don't get me started on the implications of them ignoring danbeau). who's the canon lesbian though? what news have I missed?

I also understand that they’re all subconscious behaviours, to an extent, and we can’t really control what we like. You think if I could help it I wouldn't be in the supercorp or catradora or damie or literally any m/m ship fandom rn instead of Andromaquynh? I could just log in, get my serotonin free of charge and energy because I wouldn't have to contribute as there'd be more than 5 of us, then log out and go about my day. And I know I've no right to police what anyone does with their time and effort, and at this point it’s just expected that people will always go for men, leads or not, over any women, we gotta make our peace with that, but it's still all just very frustrating and very telling and I'm just tired and confused. I do wonder if it’s got something to do with the stereotype of man hating lesbians? to prove a point? or projection? probably some internalized misogyny in there too. I’m willing to hear anything except the ‘there’s no good female characters/wlw uwu’ argument bc it reeks of hypocrisy and i’m sick of it

it had never been a fight between them/it was a fight between adam and himself, between adam and the world/for ronan it was a fight between truth and compromise, between the black and white he saw and the reality everyone else experienced. i LOVE this. it so well encapsulates them. and it’s so important that they can realise their differing world views and their complexities and meet in the middle somewhere.
