EVERYONE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH PALE MOON ITS AMAZING AND CONTAINS SO MUCH DEPTH AND I NEED PEOPLE TO SCREAM ABOUT IT WITH BUT NO ONE ON TUMBLR IS TALKING ABOUT IT
Please please please please please. I don't want to have to resort to MDL comments or the discussion on Viki to have these conversations.
It's currently on Viki with subtitles in a dozen languages, and the first two episodes are available without a subscription. There are 10 one hour long episodes total.
My spoiler free pitch from my initial impression, and which held to the end:
It's not a BL, doesn't slot neatly into any one genre, and doesn't feel quite like any other kdrama I've seen. But if you enjoy fascinating middle-aged women, and an often melancholy, elliptical, sometimes film-like approach, I highly recommend it to you. Our protagonist is complex and subtle, and played by an actress with an incredible presence, but everyone else around her is also fascinating and real in their own right, and I'm so curious to see the directions all these relationships develop.
Ask me any questions you have about it! I just didn't want to give too much away here because I really enjoyed discovering it as I went along.

I'm becoming a Yoo Sun fan. At first I really liked her playing Han So-ra in Eve but I figured it was just my weakness for rich bitches. But now I'm watching Queen of Masks and everyone's a rich bitch and Yoo Sun's Yoon Hae Mi is still the most compellingly acted--even though objectively, she's the least involved in the main plot! That's how good at having a mental breakdown she is. Alas I don't think she's as femslashy in this one but I do very much ship her with her young and handsome ex-host husband. It's funny bc they're both like "ooh, we've been involved with a bad crowd, lots of sex and drugs and maybe we're just using each other, who knows~" but then they're actually the most compellingly loving and supportive couple in the show (while also being a hot mess. both of them. what the fuck) and also have such a lot of moral crises going on. Like genuinely this show brought me a woman on a revenge quest, a woman trying to regain custody of her daughter from her villainous ex-husband, and a woman being deceived by her husband and wanting to be willfully blind, and Hae Mi is STILL outdoing them for sheer "I would watch this woman watching paint dry, especially if she was watching it dry with her husband." Anyway it's actually quite nice to see her with a male love interest I can actually ship her with bc her relationship with Kang Yoon-kyun in Eve was Not That Interesting tbh, even if the femslashiness in that one was great.
Anyway. Oooh you wanna watch Eve and Queen of Masks so bad... (actually, if you have watched either show, pls come talk to me about them! especially if you are also a Yoo Sun fan. but also I am only on episode 10 of Queen of Masks so no spoilers.)

Title: Eve
Main Cast: #SeoYeJi #YooSun #ParkByungEun
Episodes: 16
Man talk about a killer comeback from Seo Ye Ji, she totally nailed this role. This is an amazing revenge drama with so much going on. It's about a woman whose family was killed by another family for their company and her life turns into a show to destroy them. I mean I can't even say how great Ye Ji was, some of the scenes my jaw just dropped lol I was like holy crap, like when Han So Ra (Yoo Sun) finally figures out she is stealing her husband all hell starts breaking loose. Speaking of Yoo Sun, what an amazing actress who literally plays one of the most tragic characters in the entire show, like I get you are supposed to hate her but I just couldn't help but feel sorry for her, her life with with her father was so traumatic and shaped her as a person, to me it was just sad. Personally I can't find anything wrong with this drama, it's just that good. Highly recommended

Eve - First Impression
Eve – First Impression
Story in a Nutshell
A story of revenge of our protagonist Lee Ra-el (Seo Ye-ji) against a group of ultra rich and powerful, episode 1 wastes no time in hammering home the fact to the audience that the head of this rich and powerful group is an extreme sadist who has no qualms of torturing and killing anyone whom he deems as a threat or simply does not do his bidding. This sadistic man Han Pan-ro…

Eve
Year : 2022 | Country : KR | Nb of episodes: 16
My rate: 7/10
Synopsis :
Lee Ra El was a girl who idolized her loving parents – a highly intelligent father and a strikingly beautiful mother. But when cruel forces beyond their control cause her father’s death, her family crumbles. Embittered by this terrible experience, she vows revenge on the super-rich people who orchestrated this terrible tragedy. Her prime target is Kang Yoon Kyum, the CEO of the lucrative LY Group business empire, and one of the ringleaders of the plot that ultimately destroyed her family.
Lee Ra El’s weapon of choice is divorce. By placing herself at the center of a legal battle worth a staggering USD 1.6 billion, she hopes to bring Kang Yoon Kyum and LY Group down once and for all. But in order to do so, she will need to wage a bitter legal struggle and fight powerful forces both inside and outside the courtroom. However, this plan has been in the pipelines for 13 years for Lee Ra El, who believes she will use all of her guile to catch Kang Yoon Kyum out when he least expects it. Can revenge bring her the satisfaction she craves – or will it end up consuming her?
Main cast :
Seo Ye Ji as Lee Ra El/ Kim Sun Bin
Park Byung Eun as Kang Yoon Gyeom
Yoo Sun as Han So Ra
Lee Sang Yeob as Seo Eun Pyeong
My thoughts on this drama :
This was another quite heavy themed drama. Quite dark, overall. It is a story about revenge. It is pretty hard to follow at times, what with all the legal battles and usual chaebol businesses. Though not a favourite, it is still an excellent drama for those who like serious, modern dramas.
A Favorite ?
