Love You Seven Times
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 38
My rate: 7/10
Synopsis :
This show tells the story of Xiang Yun, a fairy of the Moon Elder Pavilion, and Chou Kong, a disciple of the Star King of Mouri, who were sent down to the mortal world by the Jade Emperor to experience seven lifetimes of love. Xiang Yun (played by Yang Chaoyue) was originally a cloud, but was later transformed into a fairy by the Moon God and worked in the Moon God's Court. The two of them quarreled and accidentally messed up the red rope, leading to a marriage chaos in the three worlds. The Jade Emperor found out about it and punished them both for going through seven lives of love before they could return to the heavenly realm, and the story began from there.
Main cast :
Yang Chao Yue as Xiang Yun / Song Xiangyun / Yang Xiaoxiang / Cang Hai
Feng Xue Ya as Xiang Yun (teen)
Qiao Hua as Xiang Yun (young)
Ding Yu Xi as Chu Kong / Lu Changkong
Xu Wei Luo as Lu Changkong (young)
My thoughts on this drama :
Tale as old as time….No, this is not another beauty and the beast drama, but the sentence is fitting. The drama's title is apt and sums up the story pretty well. Two soulmates, bound by fate, forced to go through several "tribulations"/"incarnations" and in so doing finding out the grand truth of the past.
I won't comment too much on the cast. They did their job, the performance is like it or hate it, but they made it work. One thing though: our hero's big bro had one of the most amazing voices i've ever heard. I don't know if he was dubbed or if it's his real voice but wow. Gave me chills every time he spoke!
I give a 9/10 for the costumes and sceneries. It's dreamlike and pure Xianxia. It fed my fantasy loving heart very well.

The Princess and the Werewolf
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 30
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Princess Qi Pa wakes up to find herself abducted into the fantastical and surreal world of the Beast-Turning Tribe. She is forced into becoming the bride of the Beast-Turning King, Kui Mu Lang. Despite Qi Pa's repeated attempts to escape, her life is further disrupted by a man named Li Xiong. Li Xiong only appears during the day, and Kui Mu Lang only appears at night. Unbeknownst to Qi Pa, she has stumbled upon a shocking secret of the Beast-Turning Tribe. As mischievous and lively as she is, Qi Pa gradually finds her way into the heart of the domineering Wolf King. How will the beauty and the "beast" fall in love? A journey filled with laughter, sweetness, and heart-wrenching moments is about to unfold.
Main cast :
Wu Xuan Yi as Qi Pa
Chen Zhe Yuan as Kui Mulang / Li Xiong
Xu Wei Luo as Kui Mulang (young)
My thoughts on this drama :
Beauty and the Beast Chinese version with comedy in it? Yes, that sums it up pretty well. Don't look for a super high quality drama here. Some of the props were hideous (I look at you rubber pointy ears), the costumes were sometimes really weird…. But honestly, I had a pretty good time.... for the first 15 episodes. Then it started to drag... drag... drag.... and at some point I just hit the fast forward button because it was becoming painful to watch. And once again, it's a drama where the hero transforms at night (same actor so same face), getting a hair job, weird teeth and tattoo-like black veins on his neck and lower face (but still the same face) and yet!!! Our female lead could not recognize him? At all? Not even a sense of déjà-vu? Pleaaaaase! If you want to be convincing then change actors between night and day! This and the mask trope are just getting ridiculous.
Now the story is fun. The characters are fun. There is little to no real 'drama', you can smell the happy ending from episode one. The fact that it's a 'sequel' of another drama, where one the leads comes from the future, made for some comical scenes. Our female lead has been raised with modern concepts, and when transposed to ancient setting, you get exposed skin, pumps, group choregraphy, proposal on one knee, and more!
At some point I started feeling bad for our wolf pup, but also at the same time, I was glad our young princess did not get the Stockholm Syndrome and stayed hell bent on her objective to go back home. But as I said, you can smell the happy ending from the first episode, so any heartbreak was short lived and quickly overcome. The final scene was a bit WTF for me, but it fits... considering...

Mysterious Lotus Case Book
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 40
My rate: 7/10
Synopsis :
Ten years ago, Li Xiang Yi, the master of the Sigu Sect, dominated with his superior swordsmanship and was a symbol of light in the martial arts world. However, he suddenly disappeared along with Di Fei Sheng, the leader of the Jinyuan Alliance, after they arranged to battle in the East Sea.
Ten years later, Li Lian Hua is a countryside doctor who travels dragging around a lotus tower. He accidentally becomes "famous" and gets pulled into the pugilistic world that he no longer wants to have any connections with. Fang Duo Bing, a passionate youth who dreams of becoming a hero, realizes that Li Lian Hua is not a simple man and vows to find proof that Li Lian Hua has been impersonating a famous doctor. Meanwhile, Di Fei Sheng, who has always regarded Li Xiang Yi as a fierce enemy, has also reemerged in the pugilistic world and recognizes that the unremarkable doctor Li Lian Hua is none other than Li Xiang Yi.
After a series of cases, Li Lian Hua, Di Fei Sheng and Fang Duo Bing gradually come to forge a deep friendship and join hands in solving mysterious cases to uphold justice.
Main cast :
Cheng Yi as Li Lianhua (voiced by Cheng Yi) / Li Xiangyi
Xu Wei Luo as Li Xiangyi (teen)
Xie Zi Mo (谢子墨) as Li Xiangyi (child)
Zeng Shun Xi as Fang Duobing (Fang Xiaobao)
Lu Jin Hao as Fang Xiaobao (young)
Xiao Shun Yao as Di Feisheng
Xu Jia Xi as Di Feisheng (young)
My thoughts on this drama :
From the reviews I had read online, this was supposed to be as good at The Blood of Youth. For me, it was not. Don't get me wrong! It is a very good drama. The overall absence of romance is a big plus (it's there in the background but has no direct impact on the story itself more than in a few flashbacks that I enjoyed skipping).
What bothered me most is that the second hero was such a dimwit. All muscle no brain. Yes he's pretty young and all, but that wannabe detective was just dumb. He relied completely on Lianhua's deduction before finding the solution to all cases (but still taking all credit for solving it heh...). It took a bit too long for the big reveal of the main lead's identity, and I found truly ridiculous that his old pals did not recognize him as soon as they saw him. He was pretty much walking out there looking the same as ten year prior, sometimes wearing a mask that hid nothing.... but that's a common trope in Cdramaland so.... Big thumb up to the redemption arc of the initial "villain". The friendship born of it was amazing to see, and I was very much rooting for more interactions between the three main characters. The side characters also did their job, adding drama and comic relief to the story. The backstory that unraveled slowly up to the finale was splendidly executed, and I felt terrible for Lianhua when he realized the whole truth. I have a small regret though: for a Wuxia drama, there weren't that many awesome fights, and the rare ones were so short they lacked impact.
Anyway, it  is still a good drama, Cheng Yi prove once again that he's a true talent of this generation, and I hope to see him take one more dramas and movies (no dumb romcom) to showcase his impressive capacity to show emotions with his eyes and micro expressions. He convinced me back in Immortal Samsara, now I'm just another fan...

Lost You Forever (S1 & S2)

The Prince Cang Xuan of Xiyan was Xiao Liu’s cousin. To find Xiao Liu, he travelled around Dahuang and came to Qingshui Town. After recovering her identity, Xiao Liu helped Cang Xuan bring the whole world under his rule and retired from the rivers and lakes. The thoughtless man puts all his energy into governing the country because he knows that as long as the world is at peace, his little boy will be able to be happy and healthy.
Main cast :
Yang Zi as Xiao Yao (Haoling Jiu Yao) / Wen Xiaoliu
Zhang Wan Yi as Cang Xuan, Prince of Xi Yan Kingdom
Deng Wei as Tushan Jing / Ye Shiqi
Tan Jian Ci as Xiang Liu / Fangfeng Bei
Wang Hong Yi as Chishui Feng Long
Dai Lu Wa as A Nian (Haoling Yi)
My thoughts on this drama :
Now that I'm done with season 1 (and getting worried about what's in store for season 2), I can say that watching this show was just me being wrecked and getting my heart broken in thousands of pieces. I really appreciate the Reverse Harem story they served us here. Plus, the actors they chose are brilliant in their respective roles. It also rekindled the flame I hold for etheral white haired beings. Of course, with 4 male leads to choose from, there is obviously one that would get my vote (I said something about white haired beings didn't I). Although I already know who she's going to end up with (both because I could not bear the supsense and checked the novel ending, and because Yang Zi kind of said it herself during a TV show)... I can't help but try to safeguard the little flame that is my favorite 'ship'. Although I know it leads to nowhere, the impossibility of it makes it all the more powerful. TJC is truly incredible in his role, and I am gobsmacked by the intensity he manages to bring to his scenes every.single.time he appears on screen. His character is compelling, hauntingly beautiful and lethal. As for the others, well, you have ever-yearning bro-zoned one, good-but-dull pretty boy, and the buddy-zoned guy who looks more attracted to bro-zoned one that to our female lead. The other female characters are rather dull, and uninteresting, with minor (but annoying) roles. The story really focuses on Jiu Yao and her four knights **cough**
You'll get genderbending (several times!), harem drama, political intrigues, anguish and laughter, sweetness and bitterness, all in this amazingly packaged drama (music, costumes, incedible sceneries, it has it all!)
Anyway! I very much recommend this drama, which earns a big fat 10 for season 1. Rating may (or may not) change after season 2 airs next summer (due to CN sh*tty new regulations stating that dramas split into seasons must be aired with a one year gap between two seasons ugh)...

The Legend of Anle
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 39
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Di Zi Yuan seeks revenge after her family was falsely accused of treason ten years ago and beheaded according to the emperor's edict.
As the sole survivor, she changes her name to Ren An Le and schemes her way into the court. She admires Crown Prince Han Ye's concern for his people's welfare. While slowly developing feelings for him, she remains haunted by her past, unable to dismiss the enmity that exists between their two families.
Han Ye, driven by his deep love for Di Zi Yuan, vows to resolve their differences at any cost.
Main cast :
Dilireba as Ren Anle / Di Ziyuan
Kristina as Di Ziyuan (young)
Gong Jun as Han Ye
Jian Yu Xi as Han Ye (young)
Liu Yu Ning as Luo Mingxi
Li Yi Jia as Luo Mingxi (young)
My thoughts on this drama :
It started off pretty well. A witty and strong female lead, an adorable (but strong too) male lead, a cunning second male lead…. So it went real good until the 20th episode or so. But then, it became so mainstream boring déjà-vu…. A real pity. Yet, I still believe this is one of the best roles I've seen Dilraba in, and Gong Jun was also amazing as the conflicted but steadfast crown prince. Liu Yunning, known for his awesome singing, was the nice suprise of the show. His cold exterior hiding a mushy interior where his little protégée is concerned was a blast to watch. He's the only one who managed to make me cry in the show.
It's a good watch, but it was too long. 30 episodes would have been enough to get the story to its intended closure (which was suprisingly very much rushed once the main plots were resolved). The last minutes with a timeskip kind of felt anticlimatic, in my opinion, and it looked more like fanservice than anything else.

Xu Kai as Bai Jue / Qing Xiu / Bai Xuan
Zhang Jia Ni as Wu Huan
Liu Xue Yi as Tian Qi / Jing Yuan
Li Ze Feng as Zhi Yang
My thoughts on this drama :
It started out as some good stuff. But it was too long. Way too long. 25 to 30 episodes would have been more than enough. I could not feel engaged by the main couple. I much prefered the side characters.

Main cast :
Liu Yi Fei as Xu Hongdou
Zheng Yu Qi as Xu Hongdou (young)
Li Xian as Xie Zhiyao
Li Kai Yang as Xie Zhiyao (young)
Hu Bing Qing as Nana
Niu Jun Feng as Hu Youyu
My thoughts on this drama :
It was good, but too long.
Honestly, 30 episodes would have been enough.
However, it a beautifully shot drama. Everything was screaming "natural", "realistic". All actors were incredible in there own role, with a big thumb up to all the senior actors (especially granny), who gave this authetic feel to the story.
Liu Yi Fei was amazing as the city girl falling for the beauty and peacefullness of the countryside.
Li Xian was endearing, all smiles and care for his family and friends.
It is a beautiful story about friendship, family, finding oneself, reflecting, enjoying simpler things.
Overall a fresh and enjoyable drama.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Year : 2022 | Country : KR | Nb of episodes: 16
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, 27-year-old Woo Young Woo graduated at the top of her class from the prestigious Seoul National University for both college and law school due to her high IQ of 164, impressive memory, and creative thought process. Working as a lawyer, she finds herself struggling when it comes to social interactions.
Main cast :
Park Eun Bin as Woo Young Woo
Kang Tao Ho as Lee Joon Ho
Kang Ki Young as Jung Myung Seok
My thoughts on this drama :
Once again, we are in a law/legal romcom drama. It's all already seen, expect that they went with using a nice twist: using an autistic spectrum main character. It brought a theretofore unseen depth to the drama, and though I am unfamiliar with this pathology, I found the actress quite believable.

Princess silver
Year : 2019 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 58
My rate: 8/10
Synopsis :
A story that follows a princess with amnesia who meets a prince that does not want to marry her and how they find a place for themselves despite the complications of the time.
Crown Princess Rong Le of Western Qi wakes up from a coma with no memories, but she becomes suspicious of her real identity due to traces of the past. To form a political alliance with Northern Lin, Rong Le is ordered to marry Prince Wu You, who refuses her at the door.
With the marriage falling through, Rong Le assumes the identity of the tea house owner, Man Yao. She begins secretly searching for invaluable books left behind by the Qin Family that were said to bring greatness to a nation. Her path leads her to Wu You, who falls for her without knowing that she is the princess he rejected. It may already be too late for him to learn the truth because she has new orders to marry General Fu Chou of Northern Lin.
Main cast :
Zhang Xue Ying as Rong Le/Man Yao/Qin Man
Aarif Rahman as Zongzheng Wu You
Jing Chao as Fu Chou/Wu Chou
Luo Yun Xi as Rong Qi
Chen Xin Yu as Hen Xiang
My thoughts on this drama :
I had read mixed reviews about this show, but I liked the synopsis so I decided to give it a shot (also to calm my addiction with Luo Yunxi following Till the End of The Moon and Love is Sweet).
I ended up liking this drama a lot! The plot was pretty well written and the female lead is powerful and outspoken, never dependant on her male counterpart, which is a nice point. Also, I may be completely blind, because I really didn't notice the subtelty of the relationships between some of the characters until the very end.
I am very staisfied by the way they tied up the end of the story, as it was not your usual bland happy ending. I still cried plenty of tears again, with this one.

The Starry Love
Year : 2023 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 40
My rate: 8/10
Synopsis :
The queen of the human tribe gave birth to twin girls. Respected by the entire tribe, the older sister Qing Kui, who is gentle and kind, is betrothed to the heavenly prince. The younger sister, Ye Tan, smart and cunning, shunned by her own people, is betrothed to the demon prince. Due to a mix-up, the two sisters are married off to the wrong husbands. It paves the way for two beautiful romances and also ignites a conspiracy that shakes the four realms.
Main cast :
Chen Xing Xu as Empyrean Xuan Shang / Shao Dian You Qin / La Mu / Mei You Qing / Wen Ren
Landy Li as Liguang Ye Tan
Luke Chen as Chao Feng
He Xuan Lin as Liguang Qing Kui
My thoughts on this drama :
The title did not inspire me, I will not lie. However, I ended up with a good surprise. The last time I had seen Chen Xing Xu was in Goodbye My Princess, which I loved. I didn't know any of the other actors of the cast here. But right from the start, I was super invested in the story. I liked that they did not follow the usual "good sisters becoming enemies" here, instead keeping the bonds and affection intact all along. Also, their take on light vs dark was new and well executed. The open ending might leave the watcher with some frustration, but it was beautifully done in my opinion, and it was easy to foresee what was left unsaid.

One and Only
Year : 2021 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 24
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Zhou Sheng Chen was raised by his brother, the Emperor, until the age of thirteen, when he set out to defend the border and establish himself as a loyal and accomplished general. Cui Shi Yi, the well-read daughter of an esteemed family, has been betrothed to the Crown Prince since birth. However, political scheming and tragic events result in Cui Shi Yi falling mute, her former fiance becoming a child Emperor, and Zhou Sheng Chen returning to the capital amidst a cloud of political turmoil.
Against the Cui family's protests, the Empress Dowager Regent changes the terms of Cui Shi Yi's betrothal. Her new fiance is the Emperor's sickly, young companion and the future Crown Prince, if he can survive long enough to come of age. Zhou Sheng Chen accepts Cui Shi Yi as his disciple to resolve lingering animosity between the royal family and the Cui family, and Cui Shi Yi suddenly finds herself leaving her sheltered life in the capital for Zhou Manor in the Western State.
Despite their differences as a mute and sheltered young noblewoman from the capital and a battle-hardened general, Zhou Sheng Chen and Cui Shi Yi soon form a strong bond as master and disciple. However, their relationship is impeded by their respective principles and responsibilities, while the ongoing power struggle in the palace constantly threatens to entangle them both once more.
Main cast :
Ren Jia Lun as Zhou Sheng Chen
Bai Lu as Cui Shi Yi
My thoughts on this drama :
Although this is pobably Bai Lu's best performance to date, I unfortunately found this show pretty underwhelming.
Allen Ren is an amazing actor, but his lack of expressions in this one left me disappointed.
I know it is also part of his character, but there is a fine line between interesting aloofness and plain boring blandness.

Love Between Fairy and Devil
Year : 2022 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 38
My rate: 9/10
Synopsis :
According to legend, in order to obtain terrible power, Dongfang Qing Cang of the Moon Tribe became an emotionless monster. He killed his father, seized the position of Moon Supreme and led an army of 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers on a path of devastation. Shuiyuntian (the immortal fairy realm), Cangyan Sea (the Moon Tribe), and Yunmeng Lake (the mortal world) were in grave danger.
To save the world and stop Dongfang Qing Cang and his army, the first God of War of Shuiyuntian destroyed her primordial spirit. Dongfang Qing Cang’s army and primordial spirit were sealed and his body was locked away in Haotian Tower under the immortal bonds of the Haotian Matrix. However, if his primordial spirit was restored and Dongfang Qing Cang were to break free from his tower, the world would be in danger once more. Legend says that only the Goddess of Xishan can prevent this catastrophe, but she vanished without a trace.
30,000 years after the first God of War’s sacrifice, there was a disturbance in the Haotian Matrix. While attempting to help the new God of War reinforce the Matrix, Orchid, a weak and low-ranking flower fairy, accidentally finds herself inside Haotian Tower and face-to-face with the Moon Supreme himself. Their encounter sets off a chain of events that threatens to change the fate of the world once again.
Main cast :
Yu Shu Xin as Orchid
Dylan Wang as Dongfang Qing Cang
Zhang Linghe as Chang Heng/Xiao Run
Xu Hai Qiao as Rong Hao
My thoughts on this drama :
Okay so… This one had received such huge hype that I was a bit reluctant to watch it, in fear of being disappointed.
I was not.
My only complaint (and it's not new) is the childish, whiny voice of the female lead (worst here than for other, as it is the actual voice of Yu Shu Xin).
But mouse voice aside, everything is incredible in this show. The story, the special effects, the costumes, the music, the scenery. This is some spectacular drama I tell you!
I only wished it didn't have a happy ending... hum...

Go Youn Jung as Naksu/Cho Yeong/ Jin Bu Yeon
My thoughts on this drama :
I hadn't loved a Korean drama so much in ages. Wow! Everything is so so good in this one. The casting is amazing, for both seasons. Although I understand their choice to switch actresses for the main lead in season two, it still felt a bit jarring at first.
The story is fantastic, and the actors all aced their roles. The season two felt like the opposite to season one (Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow is the subtitle of the season/part 2). It was sometimes a bit hard to follow, but the story is amazing and very satisfying.
