You literally already know who I'm gonna ask: GARTH
I have already answered this but I will answer again. I would smash Garth. I would ride his fish dick. I would put on a strap and fuck his fussy (fish pussy). I would fertilize his eggs after he lays them in the communal titans pool. I would take his side in every argument with Arthur, which I would do even if I didn't want to fuck him because Arthur is usually wrong. All it takes is one look from his magical anime eyes and my legs will open by themselves. You KNOW Garth would treat you right.

Papa Sukuna!
Because why not?
“Really, dear, I thought you knew how to wrap it before put it in—”
“Kaori!” Jin covers his baby son’s ears scandalously. “We have a baby here!”
“Yes. Yes, and soon to be two babies.”
Sukuna glares but he mostly blames himself for consulting with these two. Still, who else can he talk to? His old man? Yeah. No.
It’s one of those dramas where his hookup from months ago calls to say that she is pregnant and she can’t abort due to her health issue. So, surprise, he is becoming a father.
As if one brat isn’t enough.
Sukuna looks at his 4-year-old nephew, remembering all those stinky diapers and screaming. Just a few months later, he will be stuck with one that can’t be handed off himself…
Yikes.
No, he doesn’t get together with the hookup but he is invested in the baby, showing up at the doctor’s appointment and all.
Sukuna doesn’t cry when he hears that he is having a girl nor does he keep an ultrasound picture in his wallet.
He doesn’t paint a nursery room in pastel pink either.
Sukuna thinks about giving the baby up to his twin. Then, he feels really sick and pretends that it’s not an option.
The baby is born with pink hair and chubby cheeks.
“…I still don’t understand how pink hair is a dominant gene.” Jin mumbles standing in front of the nursery at the hospital. “Aww, look at my niece, aren’t you so cute… Sukuna?”
“…”
“Sukuna, are you crying?”
The baby is adorable with her doe eyes and her button nose. But she has her father’s tamper which means she is one hell of a baby that screams at 3 in the morning then blinks up at Sukuna innocently when he comes to check on her.
Sukuna sleepily picks her up, poking her cheeks. “Brat, you think you so cute, huh?”
The baby blinks, then, impossibly, scowls and chomps on her Papa’s finger with her gum.
“…”
The baby is totally his karma; she spits her milk on his shirt just because, bites his finger when he holds her, screams when he puts her down.
She also throws up on him twice a week randomly.
Screw the ‘sweet daughter and demonic papa’ trope. If the king of curses is going to have a baby, he’s totally totally going to have a bully one that hates his gut.
Sukuna might feel worse if she doesn’t also smack glasses out of Jin’s face and throws her pacifier at Wasuke.
Many also fall victim to her angelic face just to be slapped with her tiny fist.
“She hates everyone.” Jin deadpans. “Just like you.”
Yuuji visits his little cousin for the first time with a bunny plushie for a present. He bounces excitedly while his Daddy knocks on the door to reveal his… messy Uncle.
Jin blinks. “What happened to you?”
“Your niece happens.” Uncle walks back. “That brat throws up on me. On purpose.”
“…she is just two weeks old.”
“And evil.”
Jin doesn’t believe that, of course, he walks inside the nursery and sees his precious niece lying in her bassinet, cooing at her own toes. He coos and picks her up.
“Hello, sweetheart.” Jin rubs her chubby cheeks. “I’m your uncle—”
“Urghk!”
The baby kicks his shin. “Bwahh! A-wahh-nah!”
“Daddy.” Yuuji tucks his shirt. “I no think she like you.”
“…”
Wasuke is peed on when he is changing her diaper. Kaori strategically strays clear of her warpath.
Yuuji loves his little cousin; she is so cute, 8 months old, being dressed in a bunny onesie for Wasuke’s birthday dinner.
Sure, she hits him with her rattle but it’s okay because she doesn’t mean to!
Adults are talking. He sits with his cousin and plays with her, which actually means waving a toy around and bubbling at her. The baby stares at him with wide eyes.
“—and this my fab-bu-wite dinosaur, I go on adventuar togethar and beat’a bad guys—”
“Bwat.”
Yuuji blinks.
The baby scrunches her nose, looking determined, then she says her first word again with much more clearance.
“Brat.” The baby bangs her plushie with the floor. “Brat. Brat. Brat.”
“Whoa.”
She sounds just like Uncle!
Wasuke and Jin turn to look at Sukuna with accusation looks.
“Sukuna!” Jin is horrified. “Are you trying to raise my precious niece into a-a-a Yankee?!”
The older twin grumbles. That brat. Of all words to choose, she has to choose that one and say it in front of everyone.
…hmm, as expected of his own brat.
“Brat.” The baby nods happily. “Brat. Brat.”

your top 15 favourite tv shows can say a lot about your personality
Tagged by the epically fab @lolahardy
this genuinely kept me awake a bit last night until I realised what was happening and stopped trying to recall every show that ever struck me right in the feels or shaped me lol and yes, I know no one asked for any reasoning behind it but when you've mulled it over all bloody day long, you feel like sharing :P
M*A*S*H - used to be on everyday at 7 and my mum had adored it when she was younger so brought me and my sister up on it, still makes me laugh and cry to this day.
Star Trek TNG (& Picard which might be cheating but really is just an extension all told) - loved all the Trek's, Honourable Mention goes to ToS because kid!me loved it so much, only to have TNG blow the roof off my head. Lt Cmdr Data was my first love and I am unashamed ;)
Red Dwarf - for many reasons but mainly Arnold Rimmer (more reliable than a garden Strimmer, he's never been mistaken for Yul Brynner - he's not bald and his head doesn't glimmer...) who my teenage self was certain could be redeemed with the power of love, or a very determined snogging if nowt else.
The Good Place - because I (and many of us) needed it as a concept, whether for personal growth, coping with grief or just cos 'forking shirtballs' never gets any less funnier for me.
Firefly - the best show to ever be cancelled before it's writer could ruin it. I adored the show and the ensuing film, mourned its early cancellation for YEARS until I heard about Whedon's general twattishness and what had been his intentions for the series and characters, now am happy it exists as it is, still problematic but so worthy in so many ways, and on that awkward note...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - problematic on 800 gazillion levels in this day and age but still a forerunner of many awesome things to follow and I'd be lying if I said I hadnt been glued to it, obsessed with it, shipping folks, dling the soundtrack, buying the jewelry etc and even now if I see a reaction vid on YT for S5 I can't help myself but watch and weep along with them.
Merlin (BBC) - Umm'd and Ahh'd over this for bloody ages lol but it was my happy place (literally, had a run of bad years as have we all, so I'd watch an ep before bed every night to make me smile) and it got me through the difficulties I had right up to the finale where they took me and my happy place out back and shot it in the face in front of me lol. Despite my escapism route being put down in those heinous raw weeks immediately following a parents funeral, I'm still listing it here for being wonderful, silly, heartening and heartbreaking, whilst giving every last Fuck You to the writers for their surprise, abruptly canon-compliant ending.
Stargate SG1 - daft sci fi with it's heart trying hard to be in the right place plus eminently shippable characters in almost every combo going? Yes, please.
Heroes - because I was OBSESSED. It picked me up out of my OTP in a diff fandom (sorry drarry, I still love you honest) drained me of any and all urge to write for anything but them ever again until it got shat on by its own writers, breaking the spell.
Brooklyn 99 - NINE-NINE. *sadly doffs cap to Captain Holt*
King of the Hill - from a show I used to avoid when I was younger to one I ration myself viewswise so it won't lose it's impact. Superb.
Schitts Creek - only watched due to encountering a clip on tumblr of Moira's stonefaced manaical laughter and ended up crying with happiness over the finale, am an easy crier sure, but not normally because something is just so lovely.
Cheers - was only a kid when it finished but I bawled my face off when Sam said 'sorry, we're closed' (was too young to know it'd be repeated ad infinitum lol) and the opening theme still feels like coming home.
Golden Girls - sole reason D+ gets any money from me, the bastards, it was my only access for a bit there but it was worth it, lightyears ahead of it's time and just wonderful to boot.
Parks & Rec - somewhere my sister is elated with no clue why. Took her years to talk me into it, but having watched it on repeat a few times, I now can't live without Leslie, Ben & Ron.
Other honourable mentions (sorry I know, longpost, my bad) go to Quantum Leap for being a daily delight growing up, What We Do in the Shadows which would have made the list but I've only just got around to watching it and am only on S3 so have yet to find out if it's going to rip my heart out, Eerie Indiana for getting me started hyperfixationwise, Caroline in the City (S1-S3... S4? I don't know her - no seriously, I didnt realise for YEARS it didnt end at S3 and as this purported S4 fucked that up [supposedly] yeah I don't know her), The XFiles for my first actual foray into fandom & fanfic, and I know am missing another gazillion shows I'll remember later that seem much more worldshaping than these and I'll gnash my teeth lol so yeah *waves hand vaguely towards future me's frustrated rememberings* them too ;)
Tagging a) anyone who fancies a go should they feel like it, and b) [no pressure natch] @theangrykimchi @amazinmango @thesaltofcarthage @buckydunpun @kalika999 @gracerene @helaheim @dls-ao3 @emorgan5061 @bananaempanada

Book recs for romance novels where the heroine puts a finger in the hero’s ass (or vice versa)?
YES.
Heroine on Hero:
The Master by Kresley Cole--this is Kresley so this is max "hero being extremely enthusiastic during sex and frankly just thrilled to be there". She does it during a blowjob and he's all "YOU WICKED GIRL!!!!"
Minx by Sophie Lark--my favorite Sophie Lark, and this one is great because she's like. Fully fucking him with her fingers(!) lmao. He like, EXPRESSES that he feels fucked, which is Amazeen to me.
The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan--this the second in a duology, and you must read the first (The Kingmaker) prior... but you should, because it's fab. This is another "during a beej" moment, and I super love it because it's a like... take him out of his mind moment.
Wed to the Wild God by Ruby Dixon--fantasy romance, the hero is basically the embodiment of hedonism so he's seen it all but he's still like "WELL WELL WELL" about it because you know. It's different when you're getting your ass fingered by the girl you loooove, right? This one also has epilogue pegging!
A Holly Jolly Ever After by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy--the one where the hero teaches the heroine how to feel relaxed during sex for their sexy Christmas movie (not porn, though he is famous for a sex tape that got out) and she does this to him during.
The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham--Historical romance, done as a part of working up to a butt plug.
Scandalous Passions by Nicola Davidson--Medieval FFM. The older heroine does this during a blow job; she's more dominant, and both the hero and the younger heroine are more submissive.
Preferential Treatment by Heather Guerre--Not sure if this is in there, but you do get an epilogue vibrating butt plug scene
Eyes on Me by Sara Cate--The heroine does this as a part of getting a butt plug in there (in public)
Mercy by Sara Cate--Might as well include this because she fully pegs him.
The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian--Heroine isn't into being penetrated, but the hero is and she's happy to oblige.
Sinner by Sierra Simone--Pretty sure this happens, and he also does things to her; vibrator, fully monty, etc.
Hero on Heroine:
The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan--I'm finishing this one right now and have really enjoyed it. It's a college sports romance, and he puts it in while they're having sex and it's very Emotional because Neither Of Them Have Done This Before.
Most Grace Callaway historicals have this. Like, it's literally a part of her playbook. Sometimes with rimming included.
A lot of the hero on heroine stuff is really more of a workup to fullll anal? Which, like. Let us ENJOY THE JOURNEY A BIT MORE, imo. Though obviously I love scenes with the full shebang.

(from sealrock) List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers (ू•‧̫•ू⑅)♡
Ooo, I get to do this again? Fab.
Laughter. My entire life has basically been a Sequence of Hilarious Mishaps, and when you are comic relief, you gain a deep appreciation for laughter. I love to laugh, and I love that my house has someone laughing at any hour of the day. We're silly here, we nurture whimsy, and laughing with someone over something genuinely funny (not nasty jokes or mean pranks) is a lovely bonding experience.
TANITH LEE. My Goddess of Prose. I have two shelves dedicated only to her books and I still want more. I cried when she died, I remember her every year, and I recommend her books to everyone, all the time. There is no other author who means as much to me.
Stephen King. I just trust this guy to tell me an entertaining story, you know? I think I probably reread King more than any other author because his prose is clear, simple, and easy to read, his characters feel like people and I feel like he's gotten better with every year. I've got two shelves of his books, too, and I'm collecting more. (I think I've read probably 60 of his books.)
Decorating! I've gone hardcore on the nesting in the past couple of years and really leaned into it this year. I like perusing shops for interesting things that might add a little more personality into the apartment, finding ways to personalize the place without painting the walls (damn renting restrictions) and just... creating an environment that feels like HOME.
FFXIV. No, seriously. This game came into my life, hit me upside the head with a bat, and left me reeling. The themes, the visuals, the story, the gameplay... This is the first MMO where I've done more content than RP and where I've found myself genuinely wanting to do hard end-level content just for the experience. (And yes, GPose... I pay SE my monthly fee just for a glorified photo studio. I'm not sorry.)

Oh psh, let's not get carried away about Charles. Or Camilla. Yes, totally surprising and fab that he immediately elevated WC to PP Wales, and put HM in their place, but you can be sure he did that for himself. He wants to be known only as King, not as the title he's had for 50 yrs, so he gave it to W. But his true colors popped right out at the Ascension thingy when, rather than move the pot of ink himself (God forbid), he waved his hand at it while condescendingly looking to the minions to move it for him. A small tray of ink that William had just reached over to cap and move himself. And when the minions (who aren't even minions) didn't get it right away, he waved at it until they did. Classic Charles. Nothing has changed. And watch Camilla's face during the whole thing. She had her grief face on for most of it but slipped up and was smug smirking for awhile. She wins. She's Queen. Consort. Still loathe them both. Not forgetting what they've done to William and Catherine. Certainly not forgetting the old history, either. He's still a spoiled, self-centered brat. Listen to his speeches. Count the "I's". It's all about him. Always has been, always will be. Let's not get sucked into the myth he's trying to build.
Hi Nonny,
I am waiting to see how His Majesty's reign goes before I form any judgement about it. I saw the hand waving at the ink during the meeting of the Ascension Council when he was proclaimed King, and yes, that is Charles expecting servants to do things for him that he could do himself, as he always has done. That doesn't mean that he will be a bad king, or a good king, it is simply part of who he is. I don't like it, but I also realise that when you have lived that way for 73 years, you are not going to change.
Camilla to me appeared to be out of it during the ceremony. I've seen that glazed look on the faces of other people who were mourning, and they really didn't know what they were doing. I will give her a pass due to the grief and mourning of this time and wait and see how she acts in the future. That is what it comes down to for me - waiting and seeing.
I have not forgotten the past history of His Majesty. I see him as a person who is overly conscious of his image, distant from the realities of the ordinary person and with no desire to diminish that distance, and most damningly, someone who will do what he wants to do regardless of any advice he is given; someone who prefers what is easy to what is right and difficult.
I expect His Majesty to continue to do things with an eye to how they enhance his popularity, and I expect him to continue to charm the people whilst keeping a firm distance between them and himself, just as he has always done. I expect him to be fussy, and well dressed, and to insist on being given every deference. I can live with all that as long as he does what is right and doesn't do any more shady stuff. I hope that in taking up the duties of the King he will do what is right, regardless of how difficult it is. I will be watching him to see how he handles things. Right now, it is too soon to tell. Give it a year or so, and then I will have a much better idea of how he will be as King.

Just thinking about - researching cases with Sam in a packed, loud, bar/club because Dean wanted to come to try to find a girl that is somewhat interested in him, while throughout the night I get more and more unbearable to be with as I’m getting increasingly (but below the surface) more jealous of the girl that gave Dean her number.
Then Sam is just flicking through john’s (🤢) journal being like: 🙄 “where is the info on this evil spirit” even though this smart ass man has all the knowledge of the earth in his head.
And then I’m sitting beside him, chugging some OJ with a newspaper in front of me, tapping my foot on the floor like: 😤 “Dean has been gone for half an our, and is necking down shots while im stuck here in this LOUD ASS ROOM which is blasting Nelly” (Im not complaining because Nelly is so fab, but I’d rather not be researching, but it’s necessary because who else is gonna do it?)
Sam would just be staring me out, he defo knows im agitated. 🧑‍🏫 “Hey. Read.”
SASSY KING.
Thought you’d appreciate this scenario pre-love confession, that has been rotting my brain <3
-SPN#2
Yes yes yes
I love it!!!!!
I think of a similar situation but because I’m a little shit I end up giving Dean a taste of his own medicine. Because jealous Dean is so 😚.
At one point I’d have enough and go find Dean from a distance of course so that he doesn’t see me yet. The walk right into his line of vision and start flirting with the first guy I see just to see Deans reaction. Cuz we know Dean’s just a little bit of a hot head.
If you have any other scenarios you wanna share I am respectfully asking you to please do <33333

just back from wedding numero uno, trying my v best to not typo, I' e had way too much red wine
it was a lovely, cute af wedding, so disney tbh
I was nervous going bc here's the thing. ok. black is associated with goths. lke people love wearing black but wear other things, but I almost exclusively wear 98% black. I dont know why but when you open my wardrobe you;d be lucky to find snippets of colour (unless you open my pj drawer which is full of disney pjs, lion king, mulan, the faves, all cutesy and shit)
bbut I'm not a goth. I just happen to love black. but the fact that Im the palest person you;ll meet and have black hair ADDED with exclusuvely black clothes is why you'll think "ah yes goth"
now I dont help my case
I wear bikeer boots, black chokers, dark lipstick, black nailpolish, I dont help the goth rumours but my closs friends just know that I gravitate towards it
SO for the wedding black dress BUT, silver necklace with a cute tree, nude nails, no lipstick just a bit of gloss, kept my eyes more neutral than dark. I know even without that I still look gothic but I TRIED
I got lots of compliments, nobodu said I looked goth
anyways
v v cute wedding
met up with people ive been avoiding for months bc I used to be quite social but since last year my introvert side has pushed forward and I want to be in most of the time so it was great reunite with people
I was happy to be at table 2 so just across from the happy couple
I also met a couple of kiwis @ivyblooms they were my first IRL kiwis. they knew my friends bc they lived in auckland for over a year and they were either roomies or neighbours cant really remember im a lil drunk. but yeah they came for the wedding but did the touristy shit like cliffs of moher and guiness storehouse (ive been to neither) but they said which is great, that its a great to have a drink here bc not only is that what we're knnown for but kikisw like a good drink now and then as welll. my drunk ass fist bumped them like eeyyyy
but the BEST part was that the dudes name was Joey I was like "ima name my non-existent son after you". like fr I think I MAYBE met one Joey irl, you'd think it'd be such a common name but defo not over here so that was fab. I said anyone ever call you joseph and he was liek "oooooh just my mother or when I'm in trouble " which made me laugh ALSo not even connected to that but we all ended up doing the stereotypical new york accent, like "eyyy im walkin ere" and "badda bing badda boom" my friend was having a FIELD day with that, my face hurt so much from laugh,I legit even brough t up ygo and joey and they were like YEAH ACTUALLY he has that voice
anyway
I xcurrently have NO voice aaaaaaaaand its just gone 12am which isnt a bad time to conk the fuck ouuut

If drag is about challenging gender norms...where is the challenge?
The he/him queens? The she/her kings? Trans people whose drag acts are the same as their gender identity? Trans people whose drag acts are different from their gender identity? Where are drag performers whose goal is to be the embodiment of androgyny? They/thems who are as extreme on either end of the gender spectrum as possible? The bio performers? Bearded queens? And so may other creative variations performers could be doing?
You can't have a man crossdress and train his vocals to sound feminine and go by "she/her" while claiming you are "challenging" the very essence of gender itself. That idea of "challenging gender" is safe. There are kids' shows that challenge gender and push the boundaries more. (Shout out to Doctor Who and its agender pronounless character The Meep, and all variations of "ladies, gentlemen, and (third option)" since the beginning of the new show, which was treated so normally/casually I never noticed until the internet pointed it out.)
The point is, this version of "challenging gender" is very safe. Safe enough to be on reality TV, I dare say, but I'm sure the idea of drag challenging gender norms has always been a part of it. There will always be room for this classic type of drag performer, but when it's only them...well, that'll only be shocking to people seeing a drag performer for the first time. But to many people? Been there, done that, but very fab, yes.
My little masc-but-makeup-wearing enby self yearns for something shocking. Make me question and doubt the very concept of gender. Make me think, DAMMIT! I don't want to leave a show with just a thinner wallet (or hopefully one day bills in my hands - would love to get into it myself) and a night of entertainment, I also want a new perspective! Offend me, shock me, make me remember you distinctly. But yes, also entertain me. Drag can be both entertaining and challenging, no one has to pick one or another.
Rest assured: I do love drag. I would not be passionately criticizing about the lack of gender challenge, or aspire to get into it myself, if I didn't. Everyone who does it is fabulous, and I wish them all a very fat stack of donations for every time they perform. I would also not force any performer to do something they don't want to do. If there are only she/her drag queens, then that is as valid as there being a huge variety of flavors of drag. Like all art, drag is subjective, and just because I want to see more of a particular thing, it does not mean it would be everyone's cup of tea.

Movie Review: Cinderella (Spoilers)
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I am posting this review the day after the movie airs on Amazon Prime, so if you haven't yet seen it don't read on until you do.
General Reaction:
It is slightly weird to think of another movie studio taking on one of the classic fairy-tales that isn't Disney, because, as I am sure is the case for a large portion of the mainstream audience, Disney have almost claimed fairytale adaptations as their own.
However, as identified, Cinderella, is a fairy tale and one created long before Disney came about. As such, other studios are allowed to put across their own interpretation of these classic stories that we have seen a lot of times adapted at this point.
That being said, we have seen many different adaptations of Cinderella at this point from the classis Disney Animation version and it's live-action counterpart, to modern-day reworkings like A Cinderella Story of the mid-noughties starring Hilary Duff.
It's quite an easy story to tell and adapt to a variety of different settings, and what this 2021 retelling does with the story blends the old-fashioned with the modern. Does that mean it is set apart from the others? Well in my opinion yes and no.
Tumblr media
While this is a Sony movie, it plays a lot like a Disney Channel Original Movie. From the comedy to the settings to the costuming and the music, it plays like the best of those types of movies. I'm talking the High School Musical franchise and the Descendants franchise. It is by no means bad or corny, but it isn't even on the level of the 2016 live-action Cinderella.
While that version was pretty much a straightforward live-action version of the original animated version, the style of the movie outweighed the substance.
Here however, there is a great blend of both style and substance. The story takes the classic elements of the original Cinderella fairy tale but tries to inject a modern and feministic twist that the recent live-action Beauty and the Beast tried to do.
In terms of whether this version of Cinderella stands out in the crowd of Cinderella movies, I would say it does. Not only is the titular character race-bent and the setting she is in seemingly plays into that, but the reworking of the Fairy Godmother as the Fab G as well as giving the Stepmother a more humanised backstory allows for a more compelling take on a classic.
Cast:
Because this is just the one all-in review I'm not going to do an in-depth character analysis and instead group the characters as who were my favourites, who did a passable job, who was bad and who were for some reason just there.
Favourites:
I have a top 3/4 favourite characters in this movie. Idina Menzel's Stepmother Vivian, Billy Porter's Fab G, Minnie Driver's Queen Beatrice and additionally Beverly Knight's Queen Tatiana.
Tumblr media
Idina Menzel was always going to be fantastic in this movie, but to see her portray what is traditionally the villain character in the movie as a sympathetic character as part of the movie's feminist agenda was an interesting twist. No cat for a start, I don't know if Lucifer was a part of the original fairy tale but of course in the Disney adaptations Lady Tremaine is always accompanied by her faithful feline, but also the fact that her backstory parallels Ella's current story and the fact Vivian was so willing to have Ella reject her passion to do what is expected of her just as was forced on her was actually great motivation.
Tumblr media
In truth I have only ever seen Billy Porter in one other thing aside from this movie and that was American Horror Story: Apocalypse. I have never seen Pose though I have heard good things, but from what I understand, Billy Porter only really has one speed. However, as the character's name states, that speed is fabulous. I loved Fab G in this movie, the fairy godmother is usually one of my favourite characters in the movie and every interpretation I have seen has brought something different and memorable. If this version of Cinderella is remembered for anything it will be for this very modernised take on the Fairy Godmother, not only gender-bending and race-bending a traditionally white female character, but with Porter choosing to make the character non-binary and that outfit speaks for itself, Fab G was simply a fabulous character.
In both Disney adaptations, I have never heard mention or reference to Prince Charming having a living mother...or a dead one for that matter. So to not only have the Queen being in a chunk of this movie, but also having her own story branch tying into the feminist agenda running through the movie and being portrayed by Minnie Driver, I was in love with this character.
Pretty much similar to the Fab G, if you've seen Beverly Knight's one second in the trailers you've pretty much seen her in the movie. She contributes to Ella's story in the movie and only appears in the latter half of the movie in 2 maybe 3 scenes but she makes an impact because she's Beverly Knight. My only gripe with her is she does not sing in the movie, you have Beverly Knight with not even a solo in a group number?
Passable:
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the star of the movie Camilla Cabello is just passable in this movie as Cinderella. She does have some humour about her and her singing is great despite maybe being autotuned because I know how she can sing, but she doesn't feel like Cinderella to me, it actually feels more like a version of what Emma Watson was doing with Belle in the live-action Beauty and the Beast rather than Cinderella but at least she tried.
As for Nicholas Galitzine, he's definitely more engaging as a modern-day Prince Charming, Robert is definitely more engaging a character than Ella unfortunately, which to be fair is still good as the 2015 Cinderella is the only other adaptation to really make the Prince interesting, but I can't quite put my finger on exactly which movie it is but there is another movie I have seen where the Prince Regent doesn't want to be king but the Princess does and has to fight for her right to be it...that's pretty much this story for them.
Also Pierce Brosnan as the King, despite jokingly singing towards the end, did a great job at being the archetype of old-fashioned values with his on-screen wife Minnie Driver's queen pushing him into a modern-day thinking.
Bad:
As for who's bad, I have to say it pains but the British comic relief characters really let the side down in this movie.
Tumblr media
In the three mice defence, Romesh Ranganathan and James Acaster are somewhat funny but unnecessary. James Corden however is abismal in this movie. I get he produces it, but particularly after Cats I do not understand 1) Why he'd want to portray another CG animal or 2) Ever think that one shot of him changing back from human to mouse with his head on a mouse body was funny...it was terrifying.
Also this movie is supposedly a family-audience movie...so why include a crass joke of Corden's character talking about peeing out of his front tail?
Additionally to the three mice, Rob Beckett has a surprising role in this movie as a potential suitor for Vivian's daughters, but he simply portrays such a creepy, cringe-worthy character it's almost uncomfortable to watch.
New Additions:
So as well as the two queens and the British comic relief there is also the addition of Princess Gwen to the movie who is the sister of the Prince and the one who wants to be ruler. It's kind of the same story as Jasmine's in the live-action Aladdin as wanting to be Sultan but being a woman isn't taken seriously, however here it is treated more comedically as every time there is a serious moment with the King trying to force Robert to grow up and be King, she always tries to interject with "Would this be a bad time to tell you about an actual real reason why I would be a good ruler" and they make sense but she's always dismissed until the very end.
Then there's a town crier, who is also inserted as a musical number while he's reading his proclamations but as a rap. Honestly I don't know Doc Brown as an artist but I did happen to enjoy what he contributed.
Music:
Which brings us on nicely to the music of the movie as this is a musical and I usually break down the songs. Again this time I will be doing groupings of best to worse.
Tumblr media
Honestly my favourite number is probably "Shining Star" mostly performed by Billy Porter with verses by Camilla Cabello and, unfortunately, James Corden.
I also enjoyed the two original songs of the movie, "Million to One" which is Cabello's "I Want" song of the movie and used a lot through the movie, and then also "Dream Girl" which is Idina's main other song but also sung by basically the women of the movie, it's Idina Menzel if you don't give her an original song it's an insult.
Idina's other song is a cover of "Material Girl" and honestly it is a lot of fun, Nicholas Galitzine's rendition of "Somebody to Love" was also fun and surprising as I did not think this guy could sing that well.
The group numbers were fun and well choreographed but they are also somewhat forgettable. The song at the ball of "Whatta Man/Seven Nation Army" was probably the most memorable but still just mediocre.
Recommendation:
Tumblr media
So with all that said, would I recommend watching Sony's Cinderella? Honestly I would say it is worth at least one viewing, and I do recommend watching all the way through just to get the full experience. I do think it will do better as a streaming movie than it would have done as a theatrical release, but I cannot pinpoint a market for this movie.
I don't think this will go down as one of the great adaptations, but there are moments and aspects of the movie that sets it apart from the crowd.
Overall I rate this movie a 7/10, it's not as fantastic as I feel the trailers were making it out to be, but having seen the movie twice there are definitely elements of the movie I looked forward to watching the second time around.
So that's my review of Sony's Cinderella, what did you guys think? Post your comments and check out more Movie Reviews as well as other posts.

How did you get into Arthurian legend? I don't know where to start!
hi omg sorry for getting to this late but uh i alwaysss recommend my mutual @/gringolet's post on an intro to arthuriana which covers most of it but hmmm if you're asking me how i went about it i started semi chronologically with uh some early arthurian adjacent docs irt to subroman britain (i dont recommend this. dont do this have fun) and made my way up to historia regum britanniae (i do recommend this one but you can just read the arthurian parts if you dont want to read anything else lol..) also i recommend reading other pseudohistories! layamon's brut and historia gentis scotorum are my favs but wace's roman de brut is good as well..then when you get to romances most famously there are the romances of chretien de troyes. my favorite is lancelot, knight of the cart but it is...a lot. yvain, knight of the lion is also very good i recommend that as well. perceval, or the story of the grail is unfinished so fair warning but there are lots of other grail narratives if thats your thing (my personal favorites are parzival, peredur fab effrawg, and the didot perceval. i really like perceval stories lol) also theres the epigonal romances and like thats an entire thing in itself but my favorite of all of them has to be meraugis de portlesguez it is so entertaining it is more entertaining than a lot of modern stuff ive read honestly.
if you're looking for prose romances, there is...the lancelot grail cycle, or the vulgate, which is really long and has a lot of content it is where most of the most popular arthurian traditions originate. then there's the post vulgate which is a sort of a condensed version of it? ive not read either i dont know how much they differ lol. i know that it features more tristan and iseult stuff which is like, if you like or want to read tristan and iseult stuff this post is really good also by my mutual @/tillman i personally am not really invested in the tristan and iseult stuff but like. that is a personal thing lol. also irt to prose stuff the three romances of the mabinogi + culhwch ac olwen + breuddwyd rhonabwy are the arthurian stories in the book but i just recommend it in general it is so good. it is so good please god read the mabinogion im a big fan of welsh arthuriana in general so if you want to have more recs for that specifically lol...
also yes i will talk about the english stuff now cause thats what people like well layamons brut is in like..extremely archaic english but there's also the prose merlin (highly recommend but it is hard to find a translation online that's in like. contemporary english), there's also lancelot of the laik which is great, the alliterative morte arthure which is probably one of my favs it is excellent but then again i like the iliad so maybe i'm a biased slut for war epics (also yeah its a war epic lol). um also theres sir gawain and the green knight which i know is like the most famous of all of them and theres a movie coming out and whatnot and like its fine. its a good starter because it tells a very contained story on its own it doesnt expect you to understand everything ab arthurs court its very entertaining but imo i would read other romances featuring gawaine before this one (which is basically like. all the verse romances lol hes a popular character. my little meow meow). speaking of gawaine the dutch romances (which feature him. heavily) are good. theyre very good and i recommend them highly they also tell contained, highly entertaining stories um id start with moriaen (which is what i started with) and then skip around from there they're all great tho.
um now everyone's wanting me to say it which is uh. lets talk about le morte darthur! i dont recommend it as a starter text even tho i read it like really early on myself so do what you want however id say get one of those like, condensed versions like howard pyles king arthur, andrew langs book of romance, beatrice clay rodger lancelyn green and henry firth bc they all tell condensions of it and id keep it on you while youre reading the original thing just in case like things dont make sense or whatever lol plotwise. le morte is a very late text, and it is very strange for an arthurian text so like idk why people say to read it first because. if i had to say read any arthurian medieval text last. it would honestly be this one because there is such a beautiful finality to it.
i do recommend it though but fair warning that things presented in le morte are like. not the same across all texts? thats something you should keep in mind in general like a lot of these texts are from diff cultures diff languages with their own shifted traditions of arthurian stuff so just in case theres contradictions or whatever between them even in the texts itself (i am looking at you geoffrey of monmouth and anna's family tree) like, dont sweat it or whatever theyre just weird like that. its like comics or whatnot.
anyways this is all to say you have a lot of places to start and pick around from id recommend shorter stuff first and stuff whose translations are usually pretty accessible and contemporary (this is why i highly recommend de troyes' romances in the beginning) just to get used to it cause the 'plot' structure of these things esp in the verse romances is like a bit different than modern lit so i know that can be offputting for some people. like i said like modern condensions of arthurian stuff are invaluable, so are um indexes? there's a couple i don't know if there are any pdfs floating online but i know they usually carry them at libraries and whatnot...
there's a lot of modern modern stuff i dont know about any of it. i couldnt even tell you about bbc merlin i am quite stupid in regard to it. i do know a fair bit about victorian stuff which is modern tho! i should make a post on that but like tldr victorian arthurian poetry good. most of it. victorian arthurian content tho is really in a whole different world as compared to medieval lit so like. well leave all the generally post medieval stuff off for a min asjkldfskld
so like. yeah have fun i know i didnt leave any links on this post (mostly) but if you want any text i mention here please please ask me i WILL send you a pdf guaranteed except for the vulgate and the post vulgate i have not read those and afaik they are hard to come by. i dont know of any pdfs of arthurian indexes if you want one but i could try to find one..?
anyways yeah if this is confusing im sorry 😭😭😭ive answered a question like this a couple times as well jic ehehe https://itonje.tumblr.com/post/641224624484581376/could-i-ask-how-you-got-started-in-arthurian

I guess that because of your last ask questions about sex in media are fair game? But don’t answer (obviously) if you don’t want to. What are your favourite sex scenes in shows of movies? Or shows/ movies that depict sexuality in a way you like?
Yeah, totally fair game, I love these kinds of questions.
Soooooo as far as my favorite scenes off the top of my head...
Obviously, I enjoy pretty much all of the scenes in the 365 franchise, though the boat scene remains king. For me, I just enjoy how far those movies are willing to go, the way they kind of just revel in sex and female pleasure and this man being totally on display. Also, there is a ton of focus on oral sex in those movies, and idk. There's just something nice about seeing sex onscreen that isn't JUST like "and he sticks his dick in and she gets off".
Sense8 had great sex scenes, imo. The first psychic orgy was particularly great. I also enjoyed the s2 scene that went between Kala and Wolfgang and Capheus and Zakia. Super sensual, loved the use of water, the connections between the couple seemed really good. Sense8 did a great job (imo) of portraying sex that was hot but not necessarily the type of sex we're used to seeing onscreen, right? It is a little dirtier, a lot more queer, less... white. I also loved the final orgy scene that depicted all of the couples and triads, especially because SUN AND MUN GOT IT IN FINALLY. I loved Nomi and Amanita's sex scenes too, not just because I loved the ship, but because they played really sweetly as this couple that had been together a long time but weren't tired of each other, whereas much of the sex we see onscreen is like... between people who've only just connected.
Of course, Outlander's wedding night scene is kind of legendary. My favorite sex scenes on that show, though, are probably the infamous "I mean to make you call me master" scene a couple of episodes later (so fucking over the top, the blade at his throat while she rode him, FAB) and the parting sex scene in the s2 finale? Like, yes, it was fully clothed, short, I don't even think she got off, but that's not what it was about. It shows you that sex scenes can also convey like... more that just desire, but sorrow and love and emotionality. This is why I hate people claiming that sex scenes are solely gratuitous or unnecessary. This felt REAL. She was leaving him forever, this would be their last opportunity to be skin to skin, he thought he was dying... It was supposed to be the last time. This wasn't fucking for the sake of fucking, it was connection between two people who loved each other dearly.
The Americans had some GREAT sex scenes with AMAZING musical cues. And it was a show that understood the complexity of sex and the way it could convey sexuality and desire but also be completely divorced of it. The two leads are Soviet sleeper agents posing as an American married couple--and the first season does largely focus on their relationship becoming "real" for the first time in over a decade of partnership. But it's not just about their sex with each other, but the way the two of them (imo, especially the man, Philip) do not.... have the same perspective on sex as most of us would. Yes, Elizabeth as the woman is also a honeypot agent at times, but Philip is very literally a Romeo agent; he can fuck anyone, make it seem super convincing (which physiologically and socially, let's be real, is harder for cis men much of the time) and convey emotion. He literally has another woman as his "fake" wife who has no idea who he really is, and she 100000% believes that he is this animalistic fuck machine who wants her and only her... But when his "real" wife asks him to be that for her, he refuses until she puts a lot of pressure on, and it's a super traumatic experience as they are essentially both sexually traumatized. She's been very directly raped in the past, and he's (willingly technically, but with no true knowledge at the time that he agreed that it would be like this) been trained to be this Romeo agent by having sex with so many people, including those he has no attraction to.
Aside from that, I would also say that between Philip and Elizabeth, who do have a genuine romantic relationship... The sex is hot. Like, sometimes it deliberately isn't, but when they do connect you see... The difference. I think the two scenes that stand out for me are the infamous "Under Pressure" sex scene where Keri Russell looked like her soul left her body at one point (added context being that she was pregnant, hiding her pregnancy in the sex scene, and having simulated sex scene with her offscreen partner/baby's father lmao) and the scene in the pilot where Elizabeth and Philip had spontaneous sex in their car after dumping a body together. While "In The Air Tonight" plays. This show spared no expense in terms of music.
On a very scaled down level, I actually would call out Reign for having really good sex considering the fact that it was airing on the CW? I mean, yes, it could be a bit goofy--the King of France does fuck someone out a window (they did it first!). But it could also be kind of sexy and a great way for the characters to connect? Also, a lot of focus was had on female pleasure and the female gaze for a teen show on the CW--I still remember a scene where Mary (context: married to the dauphin of France, supposed to pump out babies) basically apologetically tells her husband that she's not in her fertile window and there's no point in having sex. And he's like lmao that's not what this is about. And then he drops to his knees and eats her out while she's standing up in a public setting. On the CW! Love it!
The Great does sex really well, I made a whole post about it lol. But basically, aside from there being a fabulous degree of emphasis on the importance of cunnilingus... The show really does a great way of tracking the relationship between its protagonists in terms of how they sexually interact with each other. First, as a means of him controlling her and attempting to get her pregnant, with neither one of them wanting to interact with each other. Then, as a means for her to control him and for him to like... prove that he has value as a husband lol. And finally, as a mutual coming together (and COMING TOGETHER) where they're able to connect both physically and emotionally at the same time.
Through My Window was actually a really fun teen movie that did a great job with the sex, imo. I have called it like... 365 DNI meets The Kissing Booth, but it's sooooo much better than The Kissing Booth in every way. There's such a joyful sex montage in that one that kind of just conveys how into each other these two kids are, and like--the realities that teenagers, do, in fact, get it in. Sorry guys! They do! Also, one of the only examples of a guy getting his ass eaten by his girlfriend I've seen onscreen. ARES AIN'T ABOVE IT. But nah, I think what I loved about this movie is that they fucked a lot but they also seemed super just emotionally sweet with each other. In the end the boyfriend leaves for college and he's crying on the plane when he realizes his girlfriend put her panties in his pocket while they were saying goodbye. It's like... You can be kinda dirty but also be sweet, y'all.
I'm gonna call out Lust/Caution because the sex in this is... so hot, yet so fraught. Tony Leung and Tang Wei really, really got vulnerable for this shit. But it's not a romantic movie. It's an erotic thriller, but it is deep and it is difficult to watch, and there is sexual assault. The heroine is basically an undercover agent attempting to get information on the guy she's fucking, as he's working with Japanese forces in occupied China during World War II. He rapes her before they ever have consensual sex. However, the movie charts how their sexual intimacy gradually gives way to emotional intimacy, and Tang Wei's performance as she... self-loathingly begins to have feelings for this man, which are wrapped up in the sexual pleasure she gets during their encounters and the inevitably vulnerable things she learns about him... It's just so deep, and you couldn't possibly accomplish this without the explicit sex scenes, imo. Sex is not always important to plot, but damn, it is SO IMPORTANT to plot in this movie. Also, the scene where she covers his face with a pillow during sex so that he doesn't catch on to what's happening, preying on his fear of the dark while also triggering like this total ecstasy (maybe adjacent to subspace?) is... incredible. The acting in that movie is amaaaazing all around.
Y Tu Mama Tambien, for obvious reasons. Like, the homoeroticism in that movie. The moral ambiguity and discomfort triggered in that movie. Again, I say that you could not have gotten what you needed to get out of it without the sexual explicitness. The buildup in these two guys going from masturbating together to that kiss. And of course, the development of Luisa as you realize more and more that she is facing her mortality through sex? Amazing. The chemistry between Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna in this is great.
Another Gael Garcia Bernal movie--The Crime of Father Amaro? Another movie that does involve sexual assault, but like... The depth of the way it deals with Father Amaro's crisis of faith? The scene where he dresses her like the Virgin Mary before fucking her? Lol dude.
I mean, speaking of, a show that does a great job with dealing with the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church and its attitudes towards sexuality (despite the inherent... sensuality and lustfulness ... of Catholic practices) is of course The Young Pope. Lenny, the titular Young Pope, actually never has sex on the show, but his latent sexuality--the famous fantasy sequence of him on the beach in a white speedo with all the bikini clad women wearing crosses, one of which is dresses to look like the Virgin being JUST ONE OF MANY WILD MOMENTS--is such an important part of the show. His desire for love and sex, his fear of it connected back to his abandonment by his parents and particularly his mother... Which can be, of course, connected to the feelings of abandonment religion seeks to quell in general among worshippers. Though I also have to say, this show does feature a threesome between a bisexual cardinal, a random hot guy, and a hot mobster's wife, and it is.... incredible.
Cruel Intentions, of course, because as incredibly over the top and ridiculous as it is, I can't help but love the way it divides between sex used for callous purposes (pretty much everything Sebastian does up to his sex scene with Annette) and sex used to express love. It's not a super shocking take, but I love it every time. Also, the way the movie just... delights in shocking the audience. Is the SMG/Selma Blair makeout over the top and purely meant to bait a het male audience? Yes. Did it do more than that? In my opinion, yes. Definitely... did not only bait het males, even if that was the intention.
The Dreamers is a WILD fucking movie, and I think it definitely broke some boundaries in terms of how sex was depicted. Of course, the really interesting aspect of the movie is that its use of sex is so... ambiguous. It focuses on twins, Theo and Isabelle, and this random American Matthew, who they bring into their web. Theo and Isabelle are incredibly... close, and he kind of assumes they've fucked? Understandably, they kiss on the lips and do weird tickle fights and she does in fact make Theo masturbate in front of her, and he does have a random picture of her in a bikini in his dresser drawer, which Matthew subsequently steals and hides in his boxers. But it later turns out that Isabelle is a virgin (at least... in terms of p in v sex, I'm not convinced about everything else). And you basically spend much of the movie wondering if she and Matthew are actually romantically a thing, or if she's basically using him as this proxy for her relationship with her brother, who also a (resentful) homoerotic tension with Matthew that really should've been taken all the way, but we'll have to settle for the three of them lounging naked in the tub together and Theo hitting on Matthew... a lot. Resentfully. Because he's jealous of Matthew for fucking his twin sister. Mess! This movie is super ambiguous and there are a million ways to interpret it, but I don't think it would be the same movie without its incorporation of pretty graphic sexuality.
Controversial, but I do also like the sex scenes in The Handmaiden. I get the complaints, I do, and the male gaze is evident in this movie. But I think what I enjoyed a lot was the way that they were kind of... absurd? Like, super explicit, hot, connected the heroines, but they were ABSURD. In a similar manner, Park Chan-wook also did Stoker, which I love due the bold "will they/won't they" between an uncle and niece. Rather than a traditional sex scene, I'll highlight the piano scene, in which she... has an orgasm? Maybe? While playing the piano with her uncle? It's powerful, lol. The movie focuses a lot on coming of age through the lens of her burgeoning sexuality, while also aligning that with the idea of coming of age... as a murderer. It's a lot.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll think of more, but these are a few!
