olive's a cheerful botanist who has dedicated her life to take care of her livestock and plants, which she holds dear. she's an (obvious) animal enthusiast, vegetarian, and loves the outdoors. plus her job, she makes ends meet and maintains her farm with her earnings from her crops and produce.

evan's the heir from one of the most distinguished farmer lineages in henford-on-bagley, and was the most desirable bachelor as soon as he was of age. his family wed him with the daughter from another close family that was as relevant and rich as his, but the nature of their marriage was forced and, truthfully, unpleasant.
he managed to get away from that arrangement when he met olive at a finchwick competition, while he was scorting his then-wife. unfortunately, his affair with olive led to him being exiled from his family, and thus separated from the two children that he had with his ex-wife. although he misses them dearly, he's happy to live as a stay-at-home dad and support his fiancée and their baby.

This is the first CAS challenge I've participated in AND completed, YAY!
Thanks to @gloomiegalaxie-sims and their Cryptid CAS Challenge, this was fun and out of my comfort zone!
So, this is Midora and she's doomed. Sent by her own people as a vessel containing a bioweapon meant to fatally infect sim kind, but it turns out that sims are immune to it. From the few months she spent infiltrating the species, she grew to love their EDM scene as it was very similar but far more harmonious than the music back at home. She even began to make friends and enjoy the little details of life that sims enjoy as well, therefore she developed an emotional string. After realizing she couldn't hurt the sims she was growing to care about, she became much more relaxed around others.
Unfortunately, all of this came with a cost. Due to the failure of the mission, the engineers that developed the disease were executed and all of their work vaporized. At first, they sent bounty hunters to wipe her out, but it turns out the disease is actually fatal to her own kind over time.
Why isn't she dead? Well, the disease is definitely affecting her in negative ways. Her blood has turned black, and the high pressure is causing blood vessels to pop spilling her tainted chromatic alien blood from wherever it can. She can see the sickness literally coursing through her veins as her yellow, alien skin can't hide what's killing her within. It seems this odd world around her has some sort of disease slowing agents that have helped her but the hunt for her is over. They know she will die soon. She knows she will die soon.
That's all I could come up with from the top of my head. I wish I knew how to edit backgrounds of pictures.

🦇 Bat: If you could teleport to any point in your story where would it be? You can go back to correct past “mistakes” or into the future to something you’re most excited about.
I think the main thing I would change about the Finch story would be to have started with a realistic aging system, rather than following the typical challenge rules of one gen per decade. Other than that, I’ve been pretty happy with how the story has gone! I think leaving it sort of random helps with that- like I sort of wish that the dice had let John survive the war, but I think story wise it actually works out better.
🍎 Apple: Do you have a favorite friend/platonic dynamic? Any friendships gone sour?
Okay! Absolute favourite friend dynamic in the whole story was going back quite a ways to Mary and Beatrice in Gen 3.
They came together sort of organically just because I didn’t want to play in a house with just Mary by herself after all the boys left for war, and I’m so glad they did. Just both so determined to look after each other and any one else they meet- it was lovely. Also in game, they genuinely passed away the same day as elders, which is just 😭
🔮 Crystal Ball: How far into the future of your story can you see? Do you plan everything in advance or take things step by step?
So I actually already answered this one here, but I will take this opportunity to drop a hint of things to come on this account! Like I said, I only have a few Finch posts left in my drafts, and then I’m actually planning on starting a new story! Will it include the more realistic aging I wished I had done before? It may very well! As a final tease for things to come- here’s something I was playing around with in CAS.

…To be clear, this doesn’t really say anything useful. The CA fics have been accumulating kudos for almost 10 years and the HP fics for just about as long (and they were originally published to LJ and only moved to AO3 later), while Leggy Blonde has been up for less than 2 years. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ make of that what you will.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes, always. It may take me a bit, but look, if someone takes time to comment on my work I feel compelled to at least say thank you. The joy is in the moment of interaction, not in the hoarding of praise.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably The Fall of the House of Black. If you read the epilogue, that is.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most if not all of my fics end happily and there’s a bunch that are mostly fun and fluff. But only Heartwood ends with a wedding. 😛
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No. I got one (1) terfy comment and one that was a bit douchey once, but I don’t think I have the reach to attract actual hate. Or I’ve gotten lucky so far, idk.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
For a long time I didn’t because I didn’t enjoy writing it. I’ve come to be a little more open to experimenting with it in recent years, occasionally challenged myself to lean into it a bit more, and I guess it feels like less of a bother now even if it’s still not my forte. So some of my stuff is either more softcore, or just completely smut-free.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No. I only enjoy crossover scenarios when they happen spontaneously when chatting with friends in an unhinged “yes, and” arms race towards the most ludicrous possible outcome. I have no interest in crossover fanfic, neither reading nor writing it.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. But back in the 2000s I translated my first couple of fanfics that I wrote in a German speaking forum into English when I moved to a different space within the same fandom.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@greaseonmymouth and I collaborated on a fanwork for a now extinct fandom in… 2009 or so? It was a true marvel, a thing of beauty, a magnificent stroke of genius. It is no longer associated with either of our names. But part of me still thinks I peaked there.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Johnsquared. Quite possibly.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Unghhh the epic Cjizzy metal band AU. The epic eat pray love Johnsquared. I want to finish them so badly. I really do. But maybe I love them both too hard.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’m really good and efficient at setups, outlines, and occasionally very funny with dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing sincere endings that I don’t hate.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Idk man. Look. It depends. What are you trying to do here? Does a character canonically codeswitch? Fair. But do you speak the language in question or is it just gonna be basic tourist speak? Do you just wanna flex that you know languages that your readers might have to look up? Are you smug that you used google translate? Are you using other languages consistently throughout the fic in all instances, or are you just marking out one character as the non-native speaker? For a bit of ~local/ethnic flavour?
What I’m saying is “it’s complicated.”
Also. Eh. Idk. I wouldn’t do it in my own fic. I have seen some godawful incorrect German in fanfic that clearly came from google translate and that no native speaker would ever utter and I always wonder what the purpose of that is supposed to be. At times it’s jarring my incompatible within a limited narrator’s perspective. Obviously everyone can do whatever the hell they want in their own fic. I just don’t get the why of it most of the time I see it and I wonder if the writer ever bothered to ask themselves “why am I doing this?”

@jenplayssims thanks for much for creating this challenge and asking me to answer questions 8, 17 and 19.
8. Not really. Sometimes I have a vague idea of what I'd like to have happen during some generations, but I try to let my sims (somewhat) decide by following their whims. Of course, this type of gameplay requires mods (in my opinion) which I'll link in my answer for question 19.
17. Not really until I got into rotational gameplay. I started a historical legacy last year but never really finished it for a few reasons.
1) The lack of immersion was tough for me. Seeing the NPC's in their non-historical outfits bothered me. That's a big reason why I started making the NPC replacements (here + here).
2) I had just gotten into mods and cc and made a lot of newbie mistakes and it affected by save file. My new historical save (that I am working on) is going to be a combination of legacy and rotational gameplay, which means I'll pay more attention to the "spares". Playing with just one family just doesn’t work for me anymore.
19. Yay! I really enjoy mods and CC so here is long list (sorry, but not sorry) of my must haves for Victorian gameplay. If I didn’t include one of your historical must haves, please tell me about it. 😊

I'm also on alert and paying attention to my mental health right now because I may need to take my emergency meds in the next couple days or so which will literally knock me out for about 2-3 days. They're basically sedatives. Yay disability.
SOOOOOOO... Bear with me while I try to get all this done. Things lower on the list may take longer, but I promise it all will be done at some point. I just have to back burner something cause I'll get overwhelmed and burnt out otherwise.

My CAS CHALLENGE
May I introduce the forbidden lovers in their realistic/realism outfits Genesis with the black hair she's an artistic stoic type and the one with platinum hair Cheyenne is mean and very snarky yay!!! Lol majority if not all of the outfits were made with @sentate paparazzi, RSVP, the essentials and 2023 collections
@babyetears for the green top that Gen is wear for everyday and hot weather
@greenllamas gasoline, skylight, downtown and gossip collections and the makeup were all used by @crypticsim tattoos were @muvasimmer13 and hair was @leahlillith on both Cheyenne and Genesis and freckles skin layovers were made by the wonderful @northernsiberiawinds and @twisted-cat for the eyes @plasticsimz for the dress that Genesis is wearing and lastly @rimings for a few outfits on my girls as well. Oh and @simstrouble and @serenity-cc for hairstyles and outfits using the pretty brutal collection and year of the rabbit collection and the collab called sweetheart.
And @madlensims for her gorgeous shoes and accessories and dresses 👗
And @atelierlena for her gorgeous shoes I used for Genesis and Cheyenne formal wear and party looks.
@plumbobsnfries for the alien T-shirt and Van Gogh t-shirt also for the Nike shorts that Genesis is wearing forgive for forgetting the proper name.

Happy SwynWriMo Time!
OTMS
MUN: S! We loved Willow’s Little Shop of Horrors-inspired plot this month, just in time for Spooky Season. S’s creativity never fails to blow us away, whether it’s her unique plots, her amazing creations in the #arts-and-crafts channel, or her frankly incredible memeing abilities. Yay S!
CHARACTER: TANYA! There are two reasons Tanya gets character of the month. One, it was October and she’s a ghost. And two, more importantly, she’s taken some massive strides this month and her story is reaching a point where we’re all ready to grab the tissue box. Tanya’s really come a long way!
THREAD: CAS FORTUIT || TOFI & MOON! This thread has everything– drama, political intrigue, complicated histories between two powerful characters. Members were on the edge of their seats for this one, and we couldn’t agree more.
TASK: BOTH OF WOLF’S TASKS! Shoutout to L for taking on both tasks with Wolf this month! Wolf’s Evil Twin task gave us another fascinating peek into his family history and what could have been, while “Der kapitän” gave us all the feels. As one member put it, “L really used not a lot of words to convey so much story telling, really set the scene and really got me invested in Wolf and the Captain’s relationship.” Nice work!
BOARD UPDATES
CHAPTER THREE SHUT DOWN: Chapter Three was shut down due to a strange interpretation of a common ordinance regarding pests and infestations– the inspector included ‘ghosts and spirits’ in his report. The inspection was a surprise. All business inspections are handled by an official under the supervision of the Mayor’s Office… (OOC Information about this plot will be found in town-plot-updates!)

There will be Avaloran food, dancing, and information about Avaloran culture and history!

A fun, mostly lighthearted thread that touches on Mirabel and Julieta's relationship and softly grazes some Madrigal Family Issues.

Plot: A lot can happen in a lifetime, especially for a near-immortal like Tófi. A lot can happen in a lifetime, especially for Moon who feels like her life has been thoroughly separated into a before and after. Moon and Tófi meet 36 years and a regicide later: feelings are had (said feelings being passive-aggressiveness), a discreet verbal fight ensues, and who knows what might happen next? -- Certainly not J and T who have no control over how petty their muses are.

Plot: Hera’s ex-husband is back in town! He showed up announced whilst Hera and reza were working, and he claims to be here in business, but who can really be sure…
THE ONE WHERE VIXEY HAS A DATE
Characters and Muns Involved: Vixey, Phil, Al, Jun, Tiana
Plot: When Al asked if the rest of the gang (Vixey, Jun, Tiana) wanted to join in on his and Nora’s Halloween costume, Vixey lied–saying she already had a costume with someone else. She hopped onto to Twitter where she found Phil and they decided to go together. Now, Tiana is confused why Vixey didn’t tell her about Phil, Al and Jun are concerned about Phil’s reputation…
BRUNCH BABES BAIL
Characters and Muns Involved: Snow, Isabela, Dolores, Elena , Ting-Ting, Genevieve
Plot: The Brunch Babes decided on the Spice Girls ((Posh (Snow), Scary (Elena), Sporty (Isabela), Baby (Dolores), Ginger (Genevieve))) for Halloween. Ting-Ting opted out of the group costume to stay home and pass out candy. However, just a few days before Halloween, Snow backed out–citing too much going on at work, leaving the other girls to scramble for new costumes.

Written Permission required prior to use. 📍The Oaks Mall • Thousand Oaks, CA 📸 365 Challenge 🎞️ DAY 7 • January 7, 2023 I was roaming around inside a toy store to see if there’s anything interesting that I can buy for my 10 year old daughter. I came across these miniature toy doll house rooms. All very cute and different but they don’t attach together to complete a house. They are their own separate themed rooms, such as this adorable fruit stand. They also had a variety of bedrooms, a kitchen, and book shop. There’s probably more but I was attracted to this fruit stand because I’m a #Foodie 😁. I love miniature doll houses since I was a teenager. It’s intricate to put together but beautiful when it’s completed. If I ever have the time, I would love to buy several of these and probably display them in my home office or in the appropriate rooms (bedroom theme displayed in one of my bedrooms, etc.). 📸•📸•📸 I finally caught up with th “365 Photo Challenge” today, YAY! 😂😁👍🏻 I decided on January 1st to start this challenge but forgot to upload my photos daily. 😂 Apologies for the photo dump, but now I can post daily starting tomorrow. 😁 The challenge is to post 1 photo every day for this year.
