#working on downsizing atm

All other criticisms of modern Star Wars aside, the thing that gets me the most is how every single story is being written to fit into some Avengers-level grand finale that just isn't laying a solid enough foundation to make it worth the wait. Regardless of whether the individual stories are good or bad, what makes them fall so short, imo, is that there's usually no real payoff within their own runtimes (unless you count cheap callbacks or loose promises of More, which you shouldn't)
Like, I already knew halfway through Ahsoka that we were in for a cliffhanger and it's just like...alright, guess we'll see how this ends in about 5 years? Even Mando, which had a great first season and was poised to stand on its own two feet and ride off on a rootin' tootin' bounty huntin' adventure, has ultimately become yet another dusty path on the road to the current Big Plot with an indeterminate due date. That's not deliciously addictive media, it's a dry-ass carrot on a spindly little stick, lol
Of course, this is a problem that many franchises are happily getting cozy with lately because everybody wants to have their own Infinity War / Endgame moment, but I guess it seems a bit more egregious with Star Wars because, ironically, it used to work best because it had less overall focus. Like, sure, we had concurrent movies, animated series, and games, but they were always happy to do their own things and tell their own stories with definitive conclusions. Now it all has to funnel into the Big New Plot and, man, I honestly just can't bring myself to care when it feels like an endless waiting game
I definitely need to get around to watching Visions at some point because, every time it pops up, it sounds like the lifeblood that Star Wars sorely needs atm
Yeah the setup-and-payoff a-to-b type dramatic clarity that seemed so entrenched into the very bones of cinematic grammar - up to around the emergence of streaming, wink wink nudge nudge - is sorely missed in star wars atm. sure maybe downsized writers rooms fidgeting with limited series formats instead of doing actual seasonal TV has something to do with it, but even that is probably such a small piece of the larger issue that spins all this longform storytelling bullshit ferry wheel around.
Another part is certainly chasing the MCU business model of it all like you said. Carrot on a stick is verbatim how I've often described these things myself, the endless promise of another promise of another promise instead of forming a complete thought with a beginning and an end. servicing the plot before story at all costs. another part still is reverence towards the aesthetic trappings of the source material instead of its themes, trying to nail the exact texture of tatooine's huts and dial in the perfect balance of lightsaber choreography and pay homage to a thousand iconic shots before articulating something true in the text.
And like it's an endless laundry list, this confluence of capital-I Issues both industry-scale and creatively-driven that seem to be flaying the skin off the bones of whatever star wars even "is" nowadays. no one can answer that in the context of billions of dollars made off toys and storylines centering around this one moment in fictional history about sons and fathers and empires and rebellions. so they just keep twisting in the wind filling in any gaps within that period. I don't know nonnie, it's all so bleak. ahsoka and obi wan and even mando tbh. as charming as season 1 was, it truly felt like it coasted on its incredible restraint to avoid muddying its aesthetic with cameos, and lucked into effective storytelling as a result of that utterly unintentional alchemy. that's obviously well and truly gone now as its true optics have reared head.
what star wars is by itself is such a pointless discussion, right? andor argues it's a perfectly functional heightened universe that can support incredibly nuanced and dramatically charged stories of grassroots rebellion and the bureaucratic strain of fascist regimes. visions argues it's a world beholden to the force, an endlessly mutable and elegant metaphor that can support infinite monomyths and fairy tales. both are equally fantastic at executing on their takes, despite being in diametrically opposite extremes of interpreting the source. so it's not really about that at all, why the other stuff sucks this bad.
they're just bad at the craft of it, that's really it. whether it's auteur worship or business decisions rotting that fish down, it still rots all the same. maybe the new writers' guild contracts can shift the winds a little, because I was so securely done with star wars and then the aforementioned 2 shows came and affected me. so, so profoundly that I'm back on the hook again. like a lil sucker!

Hey Shibes! How are you and your fishes doing?
Oh! And can i have an example of a dialogue with a charming and tearful MC? Hope you can understand the ask... My english is a bit... rusty
awww, thank you for asking, I've had to downsize since I moved. But I still have the guppies and Jonsie, she's finally healthy again and can feed herself. I'm alright, just busy with work n' school atm.
A charming but tearful MC is seen as one who wears their emotions on their sleeve. Someone who they can trust with the truth. Whether or not the Charmingly Tearful!MC is actually lying or not is another story.
Your English is perfectly fine. <3
Dialogue under the spoiler.
Charmingly Tearful!MC: "Please," The word fell out with a slurred quickness, choked by the heat of panic and salt. A plea that danced in the air as surely as the blood had. They did not have long. Not with these wounds. Not with these wolves on their back.
The corners of their lips were slow to rise as they fell into the bank. Too weak to keep going. Too tired from the attempts on their life. And as the snow engulfed their naked flesh with a vengeance they still tried. Pulling their body forward. Taking everything not to scream from the pain. Not with salvation only a few feet away. Not yet. "Help..." The figure cursed as they rushed forward. Snow crunching far too loudly for the silence of the clearing. It took but a blink before their figure took up their entire worldview and their hand brushed against broken flesh. Boiled leather was the first kindness since they'd awoken. Blood and viscus ruined the embrace as they tried their best to smile through the pain. The last of their strength was ready to give out at a moment's notice. They would die on this mountain top. Not unless...
"I need help..." They were ready to plead. Ready to beg. "I... can't..." Vision blurred; they couldn't make right from left as the cloak lowered. It took everything in them not to choke on their sentence, "please... help me." And then came the sickeningly sweet release of the black.

Good god what a week. I declined 2 offers. One was $11 an hour. ELEVEN. DOLLARS. For personal care aide. For $11 they assign you a client and you go to the apartment and drive them around, administer them meds, practically everything that warrants over $11.
Another one was a bit higher, $12.50. Except they take money out of your pay for training (around $500 total) and have a non compete agreement that prohibits anyone from working with autistics or developmentally disabled individuals for an entire year after leaving the company. Which just seemed offputting to me.
Today, I accepted an offer for graveyard shift shelter monitor at a large mens shelter (over 400 beds atm, downsized due to covid). $13.50 (the 50 cents is a differential due to my hours) still not pay to gawk at but they also have full benefits and I havent heard anything bad about working there and everyone seems nice.

The rules of stealthy wealth:
Pretend you are only a little richer than everyone else. Don't let them know the extent of your wealth. People will want to take it from you, or otherwise they'll feel negative about you having so much more. They will wonder where it's from, they will come up with silly stories like that you inherited it or that some man is providing you with money. Don't even let it get there. Make your peers think that you are at about the same level as them, just working a little harder on the side, and earning just a little more as a result.
Have a good story about why you are a little richer. Choose any smokescreen that is easy to use. You don't have to give full disclosure to the multiple businesses you run. You can choose something believable, something that would give you a slight boost to your income. Know this story well. Recite it, practice, know the answers to follow up questions. This is now your persona for blending in case you need it.
Be charitable. Ofter to pay sometimes, cover dinner with peers, provide coffee for your colleagues. Show them that earning more does not make you the enemy. There are benefits to having friends who are doing well. Be charitable sometimes to maintain positive relationships with others. But do not do it the point where you are exploited or treated like an ATM. Make it clear that you are treating them, with intention, because you choose to, not because you throw money around.
Find a circle of people who have the same funds and a similar lifestyle. It is good to be free sometimes. To not have to pretend to be struggling, getting by, choosing cheap options only. Have friends with whom you can stay in a nice hotel, swim in hot springs, enjoy fine dining, rent a sportscar, go to a high end event. Find those people who support your path, who want you to thrive, who want to enjoy the fruits of life with you. People who have wealth will also have knowledge that is useful - business ideas, investing strategies. They will form a good network if you need to find someone to collaborate with. You shouldn't be stuck always playing the character of a low earner. Enjoy luxury sometimes, do it with someone who understands and will not feel envious and angry.
Enjoy the pleasures of wealth. Don't hold back. Give yourself opportunities to enjoy it. You earned it after all. The success is yours. Drink fancy coffee and imported champagne truffles, go on a weekend get away, take a flight in a private jet, get cosmetic procedures, visit world famous bars. Don't show off. Do it in secrecy. But don't deny yourself. It helps to remember sometimes what all the hard work is going toward. Work hard, play hard.
Invest. Invest like there is no tomorrow. You are growing a garden of wealth. It doesn't matter what other people are doing with their money, if they want to use it immediately or save it for later. You know what your choice is. You choose the long term path. All wealthy people do, or they don't stay wealthy for long. Like money growing on trees, you know what this gardening project is all about. You plant the seed first, toil to allow it to grow, and once it bears fruit, you simply collect money off trees. Don't stop the process. Keep going. Investing is a way to make sure you truly have money, and in doing so your lifestyle will be downsized most of the time, allowing you to be stealthy for as long as you need, until you no longer have the need.

Squeenix why do u do dis to me D:
Someone tell the lalafells that there's an untapped market to be had! Level 35-48 jewelry is the latest trend!
A once in a lifetime gil-gathering endeaver for your local, aspiring venture capitalist!!!!
.... in other news, I've been prepping myself for jewelery-crafting shenangians, which means clearing out my inventory LOL
But I got too invested and this time I took the time to research alot of the stuff that I've been hanging onto, and it turns out they're really easy to get later if i really wanted them back.
Most of it was either crafting materials (i thought they were turn-in tokens bc they looked special) or they were things that were fairly inexpensive to buy off other people if I wamted to do that in the future. I'd kept alot of things bc I wasn't as familiar with the UI/the game as i am now back when I tried downsizing in the past. Like I'd hold onto alot of junk bc for example, I'd research about this cool shiny item. and it'd start out so innocently lol.
I'd be like,
"oh I can use this to craft neat gear! Well I'll hold onto it bc i want to do that soon"
but then itd quickly spiral into
"oh, well I need a master crafting tome of X level, and to get that I need to collect these things. Okay that's doable. But wait, to do THAT, I first need to level up these 2 jobs so i can craft/gather the ingredients, alright.. (goes to level up the jobs) ...oh. i don't even have access to the zone that I need to collect those materials in, so then ACTUALLY I need to do the MSQ up to THIS point. Damn, thats kinda devastating bc I just spent all this time leveling lmao. Well, I got this far and i dont want to just toss these items, so ill just hang onto them for now
And then eventually I forgot about the details related to those items, but I remember how let down I felt while dealing with them so i just put it off and eventually they blurred into the clutter of the other stuff going on in my inv/I got invested into other goals lol
But now I've gotten better at asking the right things like "is this item rare? Where is it dropped? What is it used for, is it for crafting or a token or smth else? Also, does an NPC vendor ask for this in return for something cool? Could i buy this item on the MB later on?"
Whereas before, I'd just be like "okay. what can i use this for?? " And then I wouldn't see any crafting use for it, so I'd just toss it, and then 10 mins later id go to Mor Dhona and realize DANG IT was a TOKEN, i coulda traded that for smth interesting!! And it seems like a PITA for me to get again 😭 .....so thus began my hoarding :)
can't regret what you don't discard! lmfaooo
Also said screw it and sold off most of my food bc I realized by the time I worked thru all those edibles, id probably have a sub and would be able to buy HQ food really easily. Like, I'd been holding onto the food from when I had brute-force-leveled CUL to 50, and I'm still gonna have like ~200 hours worth of exp lmao.
I also actually, seriously reviewed the differences in food stats for once in my life (this deserves so much praise tbh bc I do not care for their details as long as I'm getting the exp buff lmao) and realized my level 15 HQ food is useless to hang onto bc my lvl 40 normal foods are still way better, and all this other info that's probably common knowledge lmao (and ik i CAN get more efficient with this if I prioritized food with stats that align with which jobs I'm gonna main for now but um. this is far as I care to go into the weeds with food details for now lmaooo like... no. stop thats too much to worry abt for me 😭😂😂 i mean like, i know (i think i know?) Strength and determination for tank, spell speed/piety for casters, skill speed for dps bc it just sounds like it makes sense lol. So like ill half-assedly try and pick the best stat buff food but its not really smth tht im overly concerned abt atm tbh. Maybe later at a higher level but for now everything seems to be okay without needing to suffer over the details)
So I sold off a buncha stuff off to an NPC and now i have a whole page and a half of space. I'm so excited!
I also reviewed the clutter in my chocobo sidebags and finally traded in the ancient gear drops to Rowena and sold off some faded maps that i realized are really common and can get again later lol
I'd have more space but i think I can use those few items up in the short term so it's just a waiting game for moar space uwu
But, yeah!!
✨️ A page and a half of inventory!! ✨️
I haven't had this much space ever since probably the MIDDLE of doing the main 2.0 MSQ!! xD

2019 came and went and after two moves one from Chicago and the other to Montreal and then back to New Orleans I had downsized so much that I had very little. I was rapidly becoming a minimalist and it felt good, because I was losing attachment to material things and gaining mobility by having fewer things to hold me down. I still didn’t know where I wanted to go next, but with the ever increasing cost of rent I was feeling more and more pinched. I made two disastrous attempts at being someone else’s housemate and finally I had had enough. I told my last housemate that I was leaving, I didn’t know exactly where I was headed, but I knew I needed to travel. I was going to visit my daughter in Southern California for a few days to start and then see what happened after that.
Altadena, California was a beautiful area geographically speaking with the brown mountains in the distance and the sparse desert like vegetation. I had a good time visiting with my daughter, but the cost of housing there was higher than in New Orleans, so I only stayed a few days. I took Amtrak to Houston, Texas where I had made arrangements to stay with a new friend for a while. I stayed in Houston for two months while I figured out my next move. I enjoyed my friend’s company, but I hated Houston. Houston is a place that demands that you drive a car to function and I didn’t even know how to drive, so I hated it. I managed to walk to a few places, but walking was dangerous as you were always walking alongside a high speed multi-lane road and to cross any intersection you had to sprint. No matter what I decided I knew I couldn’t stay in Houston. I had looked at Mexico before, but not seriously, so now I decided to get serious about the country just beyond the US southern border.
One search method I always use to filter a place is what is it’s stance on transgender rights and in the process of applying that to Mexico I discovered a city called Puerto Vallarta. I had never heard of this beach resort town on the Pacific coast of Mexico, but what I read surprised me. With searches like these they always tell you what things are like for gays, as if being trans or anything else LTBGQ+ is the same or will be satisfied if an answer about being gay is given. At any rate the information I found said that Puerto Vallarta was very gay friendly and welcoming and had a vibrant gay scene in its Zona Romantica, so I was intrigued. I continued my investigation focusing now on housing. I looked at airbnbs and found that they were very much affordable even for someone on my limited retirement income. Now I was beginning to get excited. I monitored the housing prices daily to see if they fluctuated any in the hope of getting the best price. I was pretty new to Airbnb so I didn’t really know how it worked. I started checking airfares too. I needed to know if I could really make this happen if I decided I wanted to make the jump. I already knew that I could get my social security in Mexico and I had an ATM card to make whatever transactions would be necessary. It boiled down to whether or not I felt this was a good idea or not for me. Mexico offer a 180 day on arrival tourist visa if you had a valid passport that wasn’t soon to expire, so getting into the country was not a problem. US passport holders didn’t need a negative COVID test either and you didn’t have to have health insurance to enter the country as well. Mexico clearly wanted tourists to come visit and spend money. It still took me some time to make a decision. My children thought I was crazy for traveling during a pandemic and my friends thought that Mexico was unsafe. But I was itching to go, because I knew that there would always be unknowns that were beyond my control and I had done enough research to know that I could make the six months work and I was more than done with the states and their fear mongering and spewing of hate towards transgender people and their continued attempts to deny the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow and if things didn’t work out I could always go back. Nothing is forever, so I made my commitment, booked my Airbnb and bought my plane ticket.

Why do the Mainframes still matter in 2023?
It is understandable that the new in the IT sector is viewed as superior, which in turn leads to a generalization about how a technology that is not named and tagged with buzzwords like "big data," "cloud computing," or "artificial intelligence" can be considered a legacy solution that should pave the way for the new."Is the mainframe really dying? " is a common question. And the answer is "NO" since Mainframe has been one of the most secure, dependable, and scalable for more than 50 years, which is why banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies continue to rely on it. Even if you discuss the current IT infrastructure used by the entire economy, mainframes offer a reliable and secure foundation. Mainframe services are relevant and in demand in the constantly evolving world of IT and in businesses that are expanding and modernizing. Executing transactions and data at breakneck speeds without sacrificing unparalleled efficacy and precision is possible. As a result, it continues to be the industry leader in credit card and ATM transactions, client summary production, and corporate financial analysis. Modern IT infrastructure heavily supports the power of mainframes. This technology is one of the only infrastructure elements able to manage the enormous volumes of data necessary for mission-critical applications. Mainframes are highly suited for enterprise-wide deployments of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain because they can run such programmes securely. Modern IT infrastructure across the economy is built on robust and secure mainframes. In fact, 67 of the Fortune 100 companies need the mainframe to maintain their IT infrastructure. The mainframe security market is anticipated to expand to a value of USD 26,681.23 million between the years 2021 and 2028, with a CAGR of 8.50%. The market for mainframe security is expected to rise as a result of an increase in the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. Is a career in the mainframe good? Of course! The mainframe is an established technology that can surely provide enterprises with a strong foundation if it is upgraded and prepared for the future. The mainframe system will be compatible with your current company needs thanks to a modernization strategy. Boosting factors for the mainframe market
(IoT) is becoming more and more mainstream and advanced.
Thriving Implementation of a high-performance computer system
Financial security and user information are both taking on more significance.
All around the world, the ratio of customers is increasing.
The supply chain is increasingly giving major consideration to mainframe security.
Centralized systems are becoming more popular.
The finance, medical, automotive, and aerospace industries are quickly creating security measures, increasing the need for many organizations to handle a larger volume.
Systems become increasingly complex over time.
For many businesses, the mainframe makes complete sense. It can assist modern businesses in downsizing their data centers and modernizing aging mainframes. However, Mainframe users must first plan and carry out a Mainframe data migration strategy. This migration strategy will need to handle important mainframe-to-cloud migration challenges, including security, staff training, vendor lock-in, and the expense of moving application data. Many businesses collaborate with skilled managed mainframe service providers to address challenges with data migration like these. They are able to offer comprehensive mainframe hosting services and solutions for client-driven migration strategies. Despite its history of almost six decades and with all of the most recent technology, Mainframe is a pioneer in providing the most secure systems and services for more than half of the world's IT work engagements. A mainframe is necessary for any corporate or academic database, transactional server, or programme that has to be secure and flexible. Mainframes' ability to manage multiple terabytes of data without breaking a sweat, as well as their advantages over contemporary alternatives in high-speed processing capabilities, have kept them in the grip of long-time users. not just in banking but also in other information-heavy sectors like the public sector, healthcare, insurance, utilities, and education. Additionally, IBM frequently reassures its clients that mainframe services continue to be the most secure platform available. IBM recently added additional types of data sets, such as sequential basic format and large format SMS-managed data sets, to its mainframe encryption capability. The ability to handle data while it is encrypted is more enticing than ever at a time when businesses are more concerned about cybersecurity than ever. It is imperative to highlight the encouraging and compelling responses received from the polls conducted. It's also a fantastic opportunity to thank each reply for sharing their opinions and experiences. Regardless of medium, smartphone applications and digital platforms have profoundly changed and rewritten how businesses operate in today's society. With ever-increasing transactions and database evaluation, the mainframe has proven to be the most effective and secure method of conducting business.

Thursday. What a concept.
22/09/2022
It's been a while since the single weekly wrap up post I made, but apparently this week is the week it's starting back up with the intention of it actually being a weekly wrap up, not just a random post I make once every few months. So with a rebrand (does it count as a rebrand if I only did it once before?) and renewed enthusiasm, here we go!
Reading
I've been banging on about wanting to read The Goldfinch for months to the point of my friends getting sick of me talking about it, but this week I finally started it. I watched the film when it came out so I vaguely know the story, but I'm not sure how that translates into an 800+ page book, so we'll see what happens. Even though it's not a stereotypical autumn read like The Secret History, I'm still getting the autumn vibes and enjoying it so far.
Watching
The Star Wars education is ongoing, and I'm nearing the end of the films and tv shows and I don't know how to feel about that (will probably have a breakdown when it happens, but we'll see). I'm juggling a few series atm; season 4 of Clone Wars is hotting up and getting super intense, I've only got the second half of The Mandalorian to go and I'm so so excited to see how it pans out and then watch the trailer for season 3, and I watched the first 3 episodes of Andor yesterday and omg I loved it! Can't wait to see where the rest of the season goes because at this point I have no clue what's going to happen next.
In non-Star Wars related news, I've picked up Gilmore Girls again for the autumn vibes, and it's proving to be a good accompaniment to craft in the evenings. I also started Bee and Puppycat which is whimsical and fun and charming and all round delightful.
Listening
Audible enticed me back with a deal for 99p a month, so we're back on audio books for the next few months. I've started Know my Name by Chanel Miller, and it's already so intense and heartbreaking. I know it's going to be a difficult listen, but all the more important for it.
I've randomly started listening to Scouting for Girls this week for the first time in years and I'm having a great time. It sends me straight back to summers out in the car with my mum and sister, the first 2 albums on repeat for weeks on end and being told off for saying 'arse' in Heartbeat, no matter how much I argued that I was just singing along.
Playing
After months and months and a few futile attempts to pick it back up, I am obsessed with Breath of the Wild again. After finishing Disco Elysium (an excellent unhinged game, please go play it) I was in a bit of a lull and just turned to it because I didn't have anything new lined up and oh boy am I enjoying myself. I've been sending daily updates to one of my friends about which towers I've unlocked and what quests I'm doing and I'm having an excellent time. Will this mean I finish it ready for Tears of a Kingdom? Probably not but we move.
Making
So I finished crocheting my cardigan a couple of months ago and now I'm onto my second one for my sister. I've got some much nicer yarn this time and it's so much better to work with. I spent a lot of time on it during the long weekend (thanks Lizzie!) and should be on track to get it finished in time for Christmas.
My nan's posh family friends are downsizing and we've got a load of their stuff they were going to throw out, including an old KitchenMate mixer! I'm so excited, I'm going to make a lemon cake at the weekend and see how it goes, but I can't wait to feel like I'm on Bake Off :)
Working on
I've nearly finished the book for my LM2, the second exam in my Cert CII so I'm hoping to sit the exam in October. I'm a month behind what I planned, but a busy summer made for very little motivation to study outside of work hours.
Over the past couple of weeks I've started watching booktube again and I've been toying with the idea of reviving my channel. I've already got a few ideas for videos and a couple of days off coming up, so stay tuned...

It’s strange how Ted is suddenly “just a writer”. A few months back, you’d thought he was in charge of it how he spoke to people! Although if I was working on it atm I’d probably want to downsize my role as much as I can...
Absolutely. I wasn’t there and obviously can’t confirm, but he’s not on set and trying to excuse/downplay himself. It’s a stark change from before and I don’t think it’s too much to assume there may be some bad blood there.

1. Bought a new dress on Wednesday. It’s the first thing I’ve bought myself in forever. It’s a smaller size than I usually get and it fits well. I love it so so much. Also fitted into a smaller pair of riding pants/jodphurs today which shows my hard work and constantly being busy atm is helping me shape up!
2. The horses. Honey’s been great to ride, Brynn has had some very mature moments that make me rather hopeful, and Seoul’s been quite a sweetheart towards my Mum which I love that she’s become a therapy horse for her. Seeing Mum smile and love horses makes me really happy.
3. Even though I’m SICK TO DEATH of my sister at me about her birthday doll, she’s coming along really well. I’m hopeful she’ll be rather cute. And I finished another doll... now it just needs to sell!
4. My brother and I chatted during the first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier last night. Our relationship has been strained for some time, but it felt like old times just him and I chatting together like that. I hope we can continue it.
5. As scary as it’s been to see how bad my budget is, looking at my budget this week has me hopeful and determined. Also paid off a debt I’ve had for a while now and it’s the best feeling! No more nasty interest!
6. Organising my stuff and packing it has ended up in me finding some clothes that have been missing for some time! Hooray! This time round, I’m diligently downsizing and packing what only needs to come, so I’m having a look at all the stuff I have... it’s not been all that pretty, especially through the craft supplies >_>
There we go! I got to 6. I could double it in the bs that’s been happening this week too, but let’s not go there. Thanks for keeping me accountable with these positive check ins, Jackie!

fic writer interview
tagged by @captainstennerstar
and quick apology for going all out in the responses bc no one ever tags me in these things and i love to talk about my fics but no one asks me much about them anymore 😭
fandom(s): 911! (used to write for teen wolf and voltron)
where you post: AO3
most popular one shot (by kudos) overall/this year:
Jealousy With A Chance of Misunderstandings is my most popular one shot overall and tbh i don’t know why because it was a very “on a whim” sort of fic and was super underdeveloped. i guess people just loved jealous eddie *shrugs* / this year, my most kudos fic is (hurt) thy neighbor which i fucking love and re read for myself every once in a while bc i love my buck comfort after hehe
most popular multi-chapter (by kudos) overall/this year:
waiting on the sunrise is my most popular ever with just over 1900 kudos which i am very very proud of! i hope to see it hit 2k someday :) (let’s ignore that it’s also my only multi-chapter fic atm)
favorite story you've written so far:
it’s hard to choose just one but i think you won't go lonely (it'll all be better in the morning) is one of my favorite because i put a lot of raw emotion into it and things that i felt
fic you were nervous to post:
easily the ache in my chest bc it was born out of 100% projection onto buck and it’s the most personal fic i have ever written that also risked writing characters as ooc. i also like to write things that i feel people will either enjoy for entertainment or relate to, and this one was all for myself which means that i also felt like i was risking the chance of people enjoying it
how do you choose your titles?
depending on my vibe, i fucking love going for play on words— as seen with the man who fell (in love)— but i typically love to use metaphors or song lyrics, especially if they have a double meaning. you won't go lonely (it'll all be better in the morning) is a prime example of the song lyrics because i felt like aspects of dermot kennedy’s song “after rain” really fit my story’s vibe, whereas something like to wash away the day had the double meaning of letting go of what happened and eddie quite literally bathing buck after the events of the tsunami
do you outline?
it depends. chaptered fics will get an outline chapter by chapter to help organize events. one shots, no matter length, dont typically get an outline past whatever my initial idea for it was. for example, if i had a small concept i would probably only write a bullet point under the idea title with a brief explanation, but some one shot ideas hit me like “oh what if this happened that caused that and has an effect on that and does this after”— so i will write all of that down
complete:
AO3 says 35, but if i count works ive taken down, its more like 53 i think?
in-progress:
11 i think
coming soon/not yet started:
also 53 😳 this excludes fic ideas ive literally deleted because i know i wont write them or ideas ive posted here as prompts. (my old list before downsizing this summer was in the 100s)
prompts?
i love to receive prompts, but as stated on my faq, i cant guarantee that i will write it. i have very specific tastes in fic and if the prompt is too specific i may not take it on.
upcoming work you're most excited about:
buddie new year’s fic. y’all will have to actually send me an ask if youre curious about that- but i can say it’s current wc estimate is 40k+

Page updates!
Tumblr media
((Made some page updates! First and foremost, I’m letting people know that nothing on the rules changed. Instead I focused on adding some more things in as I worked on world-building. Here’s the new stuff you can find:
1. The biggest update: There’s now a side-page with short descriptions of all of the side-characters who have been showing up on the blog! This page is called “Supporting Cast” on the links. This page includes canon characters like the Express Owls or the Grandbabies, as well as the OCs like Scarlet. The characters are listed on the page in order of importance/relevance to the Conductor.
Scarlet has links beneath her bio to drabbles that involve her.
Finch is currently missing an illustration. I hope to have one made up soon.
A few NPCs are still missing, including the Receptionists (The current one and the one that preceded him), his kids’ significant others, Winter’s significant other, and Scarlet’s intern boss/teacher. I will slowly be adding them in over time.
2. The verse “THE HAPPY ENDING” now has a description on the verses page! It’s implied in the text, but this is an alternate ending where Scarlet is alive and Finch has not gone missing. In this verse, the Conductor has also lost the 42nd Annual Bird Movie Award to DJ Grooves, marking his second loss ever.
3. Added the “drabble” tag to the tags page!
4. “The Happy Ending” tag was added to the tags page!
5. Side page links were rearranged in a way that made more sense.
6. I downsized the font. Let me know if it’s too hard to read, I will enlarge it again.
That should cover it for the updates (at least that I can remember. I’m a little sleepy atm shdkjfls). Some of the links may be janky, if you find one let me know! If you’ve got any questions on things, don’t hesitate to ask!))
