Buck had texted Tommy in their group chat that they were going to be late when the negotiations pushed them into their first hour of OT. Tommy had replied with a quip about the last one home buying dinner. Eddie had pressed down on the message until a little heart popped up on the side. Then the hostage-taker had agreed to let first responders in to rescue a wannabe hero who’d been bleeding out on the floor from a gunshot for over three hours.

this week has sucked ass and it’s only wednesday. anyways, I was inspired by a post from @djdangerlove (I cannot find the original post im so sorry) about buck calling Tommy “Thomas” so here’s a little something from that:

“Do you want me to call you Buck?”

Evan’s nose scrunches up, lips pursing as he slits his eyes open to look at Tommy, slivers of electric blue in the dim light of the bedroom. “Mm–mm.” He snuffles into the pillow, sagging against the bed.

Tommy thinks that’s the end of the conversation, Evan finally passing over the threshold into sleep. But Evan mumbles something else, the sound of it soaked up by his pillow and too quiet for Tommy to hear.

“What?” Tommy asks with a quiet laugh.

Evan huffs, annoyed that his sleep keeps getting thwarted. But he turns his face, unburying it from the pillow.

“Like the way you say my name.”

hi guys <3 if you don't know me already I'm relly (23, she/her/they). I'm a queer poc artist and things have been very rough for me these past few years. I have a full time job and I currently live with my mom. my mom is disabled and has been struggling to pay the bills/mortgage, which has resulted in foreclosure of our house. while my mom has hired lawyers for the case, I need to be prepared to move. I'm working towards saving enough money to move out, but I need some help. please consider buying some prints, stickers (coming soon!), donating to my kofi, or just sharing this post. anything helps.

They’d been an hour out from finishing their shift where Eddie had every intention of threading his fingers between Buck’s and walking out to his Jeep with the early morning sun on their tired backs. They would’ve gone for breakfast, called Tommy on the way back to the loft, and maybe fooled around a bit until eventually or both of them crashed. Tommy would’ve woken them up with his grumbling about making room for him before pressing a kiss behind the shell of Eddie’s ear and climbing in to sandwich Buck between them. Eddie didn’t like sleeping with someone pressed up behind him and Tommy always claimed he felt like a jungle gym when he was in the middle so Buck oh so graciously offered himself up. Nine out of ten times ended with someone’s arms pretzeled and asleep and Buck somehow with most of the bed but none of them would have it any other way.

They weren’t supposed to be there.

But then the bell went off and they found themselves outside the bank beyond the yellow barriers and staring at the faces of a lot of stricken LAPD officers trying to get control of the scene.

Buck turns and offers a small smile because as much as they might annoy him, they haven’t actually done enough to warrant Buck being rude to them. There’s also no telling how long exactly they might have to work together. Based on Bobby’s statement this morning, it sounds like they’ll be riding together for at least the next couple of weeks, and Buck doesn’t want to turn that time into anything more frustrating than it already is. “Yeah,” he answers a little flatly, still somewhat out of breath from his last round of punches. “What’s up?” Nate offers a hesitant smile, and steps forward. “I’m sorry about earlier. I can’t help but feel like we got off on the wrong foot. I didn’t mean anything negative by my comment. I was just trying to make conversation with you— hadn’t gotten the chance before our call.” Buck nods, not really knowing what other route to take.  “All good,” he settles on. “No harm, no foul.” Offering a hand to shake on seems like the move at that point, and Nate takes it graciously and gives him a firm shake. All seems good until, with hands still latched onto each other’s, Nate’s smile curls into something more like a smirk as he licks his lips.  Oh. No. Noooo. Buck’s own smile falters as he pulls his hand away a little too quickly. “I have to go find Hen,” is all he manages to blurt out before making a run for the locker rooms. “Oh my God, he likes you!” Hen whisper shouts. “Shut up!” Buck hisses at her. “I’m not even sure—” “But with the staring he’s been doing in combination with that kind of look—” “W-wait. What staring?” Hen raises an eyebrow at him.  “The kind he’s doing right now from across the loft,” she says, eyes straying from his face for a split second in her version of a subtle nod in his direction.
