okay so I saw Wonka recently and since most of the content I’ve seen for it is people fangirling over Timothee Chalamet (no hate, you do you) I I’ve decided to speak my truth bc Lottie was my fav and I can NOT tell you why, I just loved her :)
Like look at her?? That smile omg she’s just awesome

i watched the new wonka movie earlier today, and when i got home, i immediately watched the 1971 one with gene wilder for the first time.
and im not gonna give full movie reviews or anything, but i have to admit... i do believe timothee chalamet was a good casting decision.
i never understood the hype behind him, and i was fully prepared to dislike his performance (and i've already been mocking his "scratch that, reverse it!" line for months). but i truly think he did a fantastic job. he somehow looks eerily similar to gene wilder, and he also must've studied mr wilder's performance extensively, because when watching the 1971 version, i somehow saw twitter's white boy of the month in this crazed man's expressions and mannerisms.
and not only did he channel albeit a more grounded version of gene wilder's character, he also gave a compelling emotional performance. like im not gonna sit here and say it was oscar-worthy or anything, but it was genuinely entertaining and i feel he captured the spirit of a pre-driven-insane-by-isolation willy wonka.
