Things Kaz canonically does in the two years between Crooked Kingdom and Rule of Wolves:

(presumably) massively expands the Dregs' territory

buys Pekka's old club (the Emerald Palace) and completely renovates it, turning it into The Silver Six

massively expands the Crow Club to the point where it's "three times the size of every other establishment on the block"

builds an underground tunnel that goes from the Crow Club to the Geldstraat, where the Van Eck Mansion is

takes Jesper out on jobs with him often enough that Wylan has jokingly banned Jesper from answering the door when he knocks

learns about Ketterdam's Suli laborers and picks up additional knowledge of Suli culture

keeps up with Inej's whereabouts and helps her take out slavers

expands his information network to the Kerch colonies

is on friendly enough terms with the King of Ravka that he taught Nikolai how to pick locks and Nikolai feels comfortable personally writing him a letter when he needs to steal the titanium from Kerch

disguises himself just to follow people around on the streets

was planning to steal the titanium from the military base anyway just for fun

And that's just the stuff we see from Nikolai's and Zoya's incredibly limited perspectives during their Ketterdam sidequest

I 100% agree with Zoya when she thinks that "maybe Kaz was like Nikolai, a boy with an unquiet mind, a man in perpetual need of challenge" because ROW makes it so obvious that Kaz is bored and incredibly restless in his success. Someone get our boy a new life's purpose and a subscription to a long-running unsolved mystery podcast stat

Which means there's nothing in the text stopping me from imagining that he befriended them because they aren't vicious without the Count's influence. Just Jonathan and a pack of good boys who decided not to eat him.

your fingers weave through his cropped locks, strands the color of a peony curled within itself, waiting (yet ready) to bloom. his honeyed gaze seeps into your own, slowing time. he’s sweet and eager and afraid; the fear looks foreign as it tugs on his boyish features.

you examine him for a moment, wondering what god you appeased to be lucky enough to lay here with yuuji. “we don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to, yuu. i’m happy to stay just like this; whatever you want, i want.”

his dark lashes flutter, focus drifting from your lips back up to your eyes. “i want you,” he rasps. “if you’ll have me. if you don’t mind, ah… helping.” his freckled cheeks burn, flushed crimson from the tips of his ears to the neck of his shirt.

“there’s nothing you could ask for that i would say no to,” you chuckle, pressing your forehead against his. he finally graces you with his brilliant smile—the one that rivals the radiance of the sun

“don’t tempt me, now.”

your lips ghost his. “i wouldn’t dream of it.”

get beanie babied. Laika and Mars are both based on the classic bean bag pattern while Yue is based on Carrot the rabbit, which I think has a unique pattern? Menya isn't a TY brand toy at all and is instead one of those tiny Whimzy plushies that has velcro so you can wrap them around your finger. Road Boy is a beanie boo with big ass sparkly eyes because i thought it was funny. Also Mars has one of those little plastic star beads on their tail because I didn't know how to make the star look normal in plush form. And it's the type of thing I would have done to a beanie baby. Also there's a little clover on Menya's butt because Whimzy plushies had a little embroidered diamond on their butts

Imagine Plo Koon getting his photo taken with the Wolfpack. But each snap, about 10 clones get added from different squads until such time you've got the likes of Kenobi and Skywalker having to pry their boys back.

Meanwhile you have Kit Fisto having the time of his life with Monnk and the boys crashing the 104th who are now making silly poses. Kit obviously being glamorous and obviously shirtless.

A few more shots and you get the Corrie Boys on board.

And that's when shit hits the fan cause now you have a very tired Kel Dor General, fired up Croissants (Corries) and evenly fired up Wolves (Wolfpack) throwing bets on who'd win between Fox and Wolffe just rough housing, wrestling, throwing banter, and flipping each other off when Plo's not looking.
