This is the last update before I finish the final piece :D!!

Also I'd just like to clarify that Wren is not blushing at Undauntable, I just give cheek lines to every character I draw its an art style thing lol! Though I do believe Wren and Undauntable could have become a VERY VERY interesting item, as they are in canon I can't bring myself to ship them. I do love their interactions and dynamic though, which is why I added them after all :D!

I may be Undauntable's one and only fan, but it's a title I'll take to my grave. I LOVE that stupid loser with daddy issues yeah I said it!

The flamesilk cavern was insane

like can you image Blue and Luna growing up there lmao? Blue would try to diffuse all the conflict there (and fail, but hey, it’s the thought that counts!) and Luna would keep up with the FlameSilk hot goss.

I think Blue’s father, Admiral, had Stockholm syndrome. Rather than see himself as a prisoner, he convinced himself that Queen Wasp and her tribe (and his) needed his flamesilk. In this way, he sided himself with what was supposed to be his enemy. That’s part of the reason why he thought his children should also be enslaved with him: he was convinced that they were doing an amazing service for all hives and they needed him and his children to perform this ‘great service’. Queen Wasp grants a small amount of his thousands of requests and he convinces himself that they were great kindnesses and he was a great dragon for doing it which only made the Stockholm Syndrome worse. One can only hope that he gets away from it all long enough to realize how terrible it all was. But I sometimes think that he’d still let the Hivewings use him. I hope his children at least get him away but judging by how he wasn’t even mentioned at the end of book 15, I don’t think they did much for him. I at least hope Queen Jewel is supervising his work if he’s doing any for the hives.

He should be living like a king for producing his flamesilk since it’s a valuable commodity and it probably will be even more so. I bet part of the reason Queen Wasp made them produce the hot silk so the demand for flamesilk would not be exponentially higher (the other reason was to probably make flamesilk look dangerous so it would seem justified locking them up). Because the stuff that isn’t hot but still glows bright can be used to make signs and essentially any other used regular silk can be used for. The possibilities would be endless.

Spoilers for Arc 3 ahead!

Admiral was first Introduced in the lost continent, and he is Blue and Luna’s father. He was partnered with Burnet and Silverspot. He was enslaved by Queen Wasp in the flamesilk factory for likely his entire life after emerging from his cocoon, only leaving to mate with Burnet and Silverspot, as Blue and Luna never knew him before meeting in the factory. He’s a rule follower who is generally loyal to the Queen and wants to stay in the factory. He is not well-liked by the other flamesilks. He is generally optimistic and naive, seemingly ignorant (probably by choice) to the reality of his and the other flamesilks’ situation. He futilely tries to get Wasp to improve the factory and continues trying despite Wasp’s clear disregard for their condition. After Blue escapes with Luna, he is not seen again.

Welcome to a new series I’m ‘starting’! (I’ve been doing this on and off for a while on tiktok but I’ve decided to start posting theme here, starting with the very oldest.) This one is from all the way back in ‘22. My goal, insane as it is, is to draw every single character eventually, no matter how insignificant. I find myself often falling into patterns and ruts when I’m drawing wings of fire, and I want to use this series to gradually break out of that. Call it same-dragon-syndrome. My hope is that with each dragon I’ll gradually push myself further out of my repetitive designs and improve my art style at the same time. Constructive criticism is welcome! I feel like I haven’t majorly improved my art in a while and I want to change that.
