Eskel had been travelling with the Owl Witcher on and off for four years, both of them finding a pattern that worked perfectly when hunting together, the both of them even finding comfort with one another.
Finally, the Wolf takes a deep breath and invites his heart's desire to Kear Morhen for the winter. The first time he's invited someone to join him, the first time he's loved someone so much... he just hopes his family will love Aleksei as much as he does.

Chapter Three of The Likes of You is up, featuring Yennefer bonding with Jaskier's sisters, Jaskier's mother being far too observant, and Yennefer and Jaskier coming up with a foolproof plan.
Excerpt: “We need to step this up. I spoke to my mother this morning and she’s convinced that I’m using you to get over my broken heart.”
“A reasonable concern.”
“It’s not funny,” Jaskier says in a voice that’s perilously close to a whine. “She thinks I’m being a cad.”
“How refreshing that your family knows you so well,” Yennefer deadpans.
He narrows his eyes at her. “Yennefer, I am ten kinds of lout, but not even I would get betrothed to a woman who just survived a war because Geralt hurt my feelings.”
He has a point, Yennefer has to admit. She’s tried her hardest not to pay attention to the bard’s exploits, but he seems careful to make sure that he and his paramours part on good terms. Normally, the only people who hold grudges are his paramours’ spouses. “So what do you want me to do about it?”
“My mother pointed out that you and I don’t act like people who are in love,” Jaskier says. “We don’t just sit together. We don’t exchange loving looks across the table. We don’t hold hands or casually kiss each other. We don’t—”
Yennefer rises to her tip toes and kisses him. She’s not sure why she does it. She doesn’t even realize that she’s going to do it until her hand is fisted in the front of his doublet and his lips are on her. Jaskier makes a surprised noise against her mouth, but then he’s kissing her back, one hand sliding to cup her jaw and the other sliding to the dip in her waist. And damn, he’s a good kisser. She expected him to be one of those men who treat kissing as a performance, but he’s sweet and a little playful.
A giggle interrupts them and they both look up to see Hattie and Katya hurrying away, whispering to each other.
Yennefer is proud of how steady her breathing is when she looks up at Jaskier. “Do you think that was convincing enough?”
His eyes are wide. “Yes. Definitely. Top marks for dedication. I’m almost convinced that you wanted to do that.”
“I suppose I missed my calling as a traveling player,” she says with a little smirk. “We should fuck.”

Here’s the fic I completed for the @yenbigbang challenge!! Hope you enjoy (all 12 chapters and 165k words) of it!!
Summary:
“Yennefer is fine. She is completely fine - despite the fact her best friend has just been murdered. Yennefer is also a woman who likes to take matters into her own hands. And when it comes to solving a murder, having strange, psychic abilities that she may or may not have fully mastered certainly gives her an edge. Yennefer will not stop until she catches the person who murdered Triss Merigold. Whether or not she can deal with her grief is an entirely different matter altogether.”

The tenth and final chapter of The Likes of You is up! One final thank you to @brothebro for betaing, to @hobbart-art for the beautiful artwork, and to the mods of @yenbigbang for organizing this event!
Excerpt: For once, Jaskier doesn’t mince words or bother with flowery turns of phrases. “Look, I know both of you still think that the djinn is the only reason you fell in love with each other, but that’s bullshit.”
Yennefer is taken aback for a moment before she says, “You can’t possibly know that.”
“Geralt wished not to lose us.” His eyes are bright with certainty. “He never wished for us to love him or love each other.”
“Djinns twist things.” Yennefer wants to be as certain as he is, but she can feel the old fear and anger building, making her words come out clipped. “You wish for peace and your best friend’s throat nearly gets ripped out. You wish for a fortune, and you get accused of stealing it and end up on the gallows. You wish you stay young and beautiful forever and you drop dead the next day.”
“Of course,” Jaskier says. “Because djinns are vengeful creatures, as anyone would be if they were trapped in a bottle all the time. So look at this from the djinn’s perspective. It draws three people—a witcher who is convinced he needs no one, the bard he nearly killed with an accidental wish, and the sorceress who tried to fuck both of them over—together repeatedly. The djinn probably counted on the three of us making each other miserable. Why would it influence us to fall in love? Why would it bring us something that would make us happy?”
Yennefer opens her mouth to reply, but finds she has no good answer.
It’s Geralt that replies. “In the end, it didn’t make any of us happy.”
Jaskier deflates a little at that. “But that doesn’t erase the good moments. Nor does it mean we won’t be happy again.” He turns to Geralt. “Geralt, what made you fall in love with Yennefer?”
Geralt blinks, seemingly confused by the question. “She saved your life.”
“And I tried to kill both of you afterwards!” Yennefer reminds him sharply. “You wouldn’t have fallen in love with me if—”
“You were hurting.” Geralt’s voice goes painfully soft. “You were scared and desperate. All your choices had been taken from you and you felt like you were backed into a corner. I know what that’s like. And in the end, you saved both our lives when the house was collapsing. You could have left me and portaled yourself to safety, but you didn’t.”
