#brujaakata #akatawitch #nnediokorafor #whofearsdeath #quientemealamuerte #smaugcomix #cienciaficcion #scifi #futureclassic #scifibooks #crononauta #blackfeminist #blackfeminism #afrofuturism #afrofuturism #booklovers #instabooks #booksbooksbooks #bookblogger #bookblog #bookstagram #bookstagramer #bookstagramespaña #booklr https://www.instagram.com/p/B5u0ii6lWYD/?igshid=1m4tqynp7stjv

I am happy to announce that I am almost at the end of this read. I don’t usually read sci-fi books but I appreciate the importance of representation in Africa. I have been greatly frustrated at the limits of feminism and agency in a world where sorcery is reserved for men. I am delighted about this post apocalyptic read that is centered around traditional African community while deeply technological and paradoxically magical. It’s such a mindfuck to read a book where there is no tension between science and technology and the powers of the spiritual realm. She captured it so beautifully. Every chapter packs a punch. I’d recommend everybody reads this book but I will caution that it may be triggering in terms of rape scenes and genital mutilation. I cannot wait to review this and introduce yet another Womxn I have fallen in love with since Lilith from Marlon James’ “The book of Night Women” #jonathanball #whofearsdeath #nnediokorafor (at Smaak.)

Day 27: Who Fears Death by @nnediokorafor "An award-winning literary author enters the world of magical realism with her World Fantasy Award-winning novel of a remarkable woman in post-apocalyptic Africa.  In a post-apocalyptic Africa, the world has changed in many ways; yet in one region genocide between tribes still bloodies the land. A woman who has survived the annihilation of her village and a terrible rape by an enemy general wanders into the desert, hoping to die. Instead, she gives birth to an angry baby girl with hair and skin the color of sand. Gripped by the certainty that her daughter is different—special—she names her Onyesonwu, which means “Who fears death?” in an ancient language." #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackAuthors #nnediokorafor #WhoFearsDeath #AfricanFuturism #fantasy #representationmatters #TWrape #nerdymama #nerdybooks #booknerd #blackgirlsread #POCbookstagrammer #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CL0pNOAAqpv/?igshid=1077tmin4etj1

Have you ever been so excited for a character that you ramble off on four different tangents? We certainly have, and it made for terrible podcasting so we rerecorded the bit. Trust us, clarity over sincerity. The full quote from Who Fears Death: “My cousin always talks about how only a pure woman attracts a man pure enough to bring pleasure to the marriage bed. She says her husband is the purest man around . . . probably because he was the first who didn’t bring her pain.” “Ugh,” Luyu said, angrily. “We’re tricked into thinking our husbands are gods.” You can find our episode discussing Who Fears Death here: -on our website: http://bit.ly/3oQPCdc -on @applepodcast: https://apple.co/3tv4txu -on @spotify: https://spoti.fi/3ru2O9P . . . #podcast #bookpodcast #whofearsdeath #nnediokorafor #bookrecommendations #africanfuturism #africanjujuism #goodreads #scifi #literature #fantasy #books #booklover #bibliophile #sff #fiction #bookstagram #fictionfans #fictionfanspodcast https://www.instagram.com/p/CLmnEa7Hg5V/?igshid=o2l22fb5u1le

“Things were changing. A revolution has happening.” Just finished this riveting, post-apocalyptic journey through the Sudan. This story is important, breathtaking, and resonates so deeply in the world we are currently inhabiting. ✨🔥🌅 #whofearsdeath #nnediokorafor #blackstoriesmatter #blackauthors #readit #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CCRKiNhDXmO/?igshid=11wd5chomdi23

"Flawed, imperfect creatures! That's what we both are, oga! That's what we ALL are!" This bookstore, Blackwell's... Where I got nine books for the price of six, was where I found a copy of @nnediokorafor's #whofearsdeath . Not keen on the small print, but always look forward to #blackgirlmagic... or just #blackgirl and #magic text, either way. #imagecredit: Mumu (at Nor' Loft) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Z0HDzDhEF/?igshid=1niygbbib93xj

Yes!! Who else loves books read by Yetida Badaki!!!!!
Reposted @nnediokorafor The new audiobook of WHO FEARS DEATH is now available on @librofm. It’s read by @yetide (American Gods, This is Us, Rise).
It’s such a powerful reading. Yetide channels Onyesonwu so well!
Today, I also finished an ugly messy draft of the second book in the SHE WHO KNOWS novella series (which is about Onyesonwu’s mother Najeeba)!
This is my first time saying this publicly (my editor doesn’t even know I’ve been working on it). Now that the draft is out of my head, I can finally admit I’ve been working on it, 😆.
These books are set before and after WHO FEARS DEATH. It’s been surreal revisiting this world and characters. Phew.
The story keeps growing.

💀SUICIDE💀 It is no more than the soul’s longing for integration with universal life force that causes us to contemplate ending our physical life. It is a deep and mystic longing for ego annihilation: the end of all illusion and a return to the oneness of Spirit. What starts as a mystic longing in childhood for ego surrender, degenerates into a self-destructive vendetta against our physical body for causing this division. As the ego fights for its survival amongst the circumstances of our life on Earth, we see drama and ‘cries for help’ when suicide attempts are not intended to succeed. Each one of those cries for help screams ‘return me to my state of peace and unity!’ But the confusion of the conditioned mind believes that help must be found outside the self. Yet no touch, no word and no gesture pacifies. This is why we have to unpack the psychology surrounding the inaccurate belief in separation. Not because it matters (the more we unpack the more we realise all these abuses, disasters and pain don’t matter) but because unless we unpack it, we will never allow ourselves access to the truth. The truth that we are whole, we are free and we can be happy and at peace in any moment, at any time, anywhere. What the suicidal person does not realise is that this physical life is an expression of exactly the same thing - the love of and longing of life force to evolve and integrate with itself. 🦋🙏🏼🦋 If you feel suicidal I ask of you one thing: do not do anything with it. Don’t store up pills or plan a leap. Sit with it. And ask the universe to show you the oneness. Then watch as it arises in everything and everyone around you as we all seem unaware of this great power of life available to us. I love you xxx #shashaspiritledlife #suicide #mentalhealthawareness #feelingsuicidal #depression #anxiety #sorrow #antidepressants #angst #unification #personalintegration #longingforlove #lovelife #whofearsdeath #nietzsche https://www.instagram.com/p/BtlEcYzBwOL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1bq8gmy9ak9w2

Ko se plaši smrti?
Prvo zamislite da je to ime. Bukvalno.
Nnedi Okorafor -Who fears death. Jednom knjiga!
Tumblr media
Udara vas u glavu i stomak.
Martin bude producent.
Proširite vidike, vidite čega ima iza sledeće dine.
