I saw a comment on this particular screenshot (by silcolover on twitter) from episode 1, focusing on the letterhead print of Louis’ letter to Daniel
From what I understand, it is generally believed that Louis is using Lestat’s letters (that is why the huge ‘LDL’ initials on top). I’ve always found the idea kind of funny, but I wasn’t really paying attention to the small scribble between the first L and D.
Op suggested that it could have been a heart that Lestat decided to include in his initials, which is of course hilarious (trying to picture Lestat adding small hearts in his letters while giggling to himself, extremely gross /j).
I was discussing this with a friend, and you know what would be even funnier? If that was indeed Louis’s personal letterhead print, designed to either resemble or include Lestat’s initials. Warning for very grainy and poor quality screenshot ahead:
I do think the “heart” is actually the combination of letters “d” and “P”, respectively lower and upper case (as in [Louis] de Pointe). The ending curl of “P” on the right side of the heart nicely transitions into the next upper case “D” in the middle (du Lac). Pretty neat stylography, right?
Still, it might resemble a heart, if you squint. One could say Louis wanted it like that for brevity’s sake, and yet, it’s a rather peculiar way to represent graphically a “d” and a “p”, surely not something so intuitive to the common eye.
So yes, it could be a small heart, but still, the point here is that he apparently found a way to graphically connect his own name to the three “main” letters we see on the paper, L D L. Which are, coincidentally, Lestat’s initials. In any case, this is ... so embarrassing and would be disgustingly sweet of him. I mean, why else would he reduce part of his family’s name to a small background scribble while leaving the other three initials in big ass upper case cursive? lmfao
Louis the archivist, the keeper, who saved many of Lestat’s belongings, I still couldn’t see him using one of those items for himself (didn’t really make sense tbh, preserve? yes. but not this).
Having your own letterhead print designed in such a way to discreetly combine two different names?? Oh, I could see him doing that.

Dandelion has no idea that Witchers establish family relations via scenting such as forehead touching and rubbing their cheeks against one another or laying in a pile like dogs do but he sees Geralt doing it to Roach a lot and he assumes it's just A Geralt Thing, like his way of simply Showing Affection so one day when they're sitting at camp he just comes up behind him and rubs his cheek against his hair for a bit before moving on and Geralt freezes in place trying to figure out what just happened, is he overthinking, surely Dandy doesn't know - but what if he does and this is his way of saying Geralt's allowed to cuddle him and stuff now and -
Anyway that's how they end up sharing beds so often and just sleeping curled up together because Geralt pounces on the opportunity and Dandelion just never asks about it

a lot of people are using nex as a queer talking point without even mentioning they were choctaw and 2S. without even mentioning that this - harassment, assault, murder, disappearances, lies/indifference/denial about the circumstances of our death - is typical of the violence we face. not once have i seen non-native people address that we, as natives, face this same treatment within queer communities. that queer institutions use our land while declining to offer native-inclusive and -sensitive care. we suffer at the hands of white lgbt+ people just as much as we do at the hands of people outside the community.
nex is not your NB pariah. nex was a 2S, NB, choctaw child. thousands of native people go missing and are killed and no one cares. many are two-spirit. many are LGBTQIA+. many are "queer" in ways only defined and recognised by our closed cultures, that you may never hear of and may never understand.
if you are going to flock to nex, you are not going to take them from us post-mortem. they were choctaw. they were native. their tribal affiliation has already been falsely reported on. if you are talking about nex, you will talk about how unwelcoming and dangerous your communities are for us, too. you will talk about how natives face this violence constantly, everywhere. you will not remove nex from the context of them being choctaw, ever - or you won't say their name at all.
