I understand the draw of Let’s Plays are largely the people playing them who have gained their own following, but as someone who just loves the game I don’t wanna hear ur stupid banter 💥💥💥 play the game and be intrigued but not TOO intrigued because give it a fuckin minute it’ll explain what’s going on 🙄‼️

If I loved this series less I would be able to talk about it more (eloquently), but these books have such a profound and intricate sense of events—what drives the people who motivate change, for better or worse. Its characters are complex and rarely flat, and while the series is about battle, politics, and war, and the people are always flawed, its heartache is spectacularly, beautifully woven.

Sherwood Smith calls these books the historical arc, and I think they capture the way history moves, all while allowing you to see the people who created it and why they did. To me, it’s a masterwork of character and sociological storytelling, from the complexities of love and loyalty to the absence of both.

And if you enjoy the first book, I’m pretty damn sure you’ll love the second (and hopefully the third and fourth too).

21. When do you think they were at their happiest?

He's happiest when the Straw Hats are all together and having a big feast that he gets to cook for! I think he especially likes having big dinners to officially welcome someone into the crew and asks them about their favorite foods, foods from their childhood, comfort foods, etc. so he can really welcome them to the crew in his own unique way.

22. When do you think they were at their lowest?

Definitely during Whole Cake Island especially when confronted with his brothers. He was 100% hanging on by a thread during that whole arc until Luffy showed back up and rescued him

exactly what i mean! the hesitancy of, "am i bothering you, do you want to talk?," as though it's someone who's moved past you, but you're hoping to reconnect and you want to make sure everything is okay. plus the imagery of trying your best and gravitating around someone, but they don't fully realize you're there waiting and shining for them. it's just very yearning for something that's slipped by (in my head, anyway). that's why it hits so hard when it goes from the gentle, sweet lullaby feeling, to the beat drop, to the instrumental breakdown, because it's feeling that rollercoaster of emotion. tenderness and trepidation, picking up speed and euphoria, crashing back again. the way the vocal layering is done is very specific too, echoes of the gentle beginning are still under the percussion. wishing i could be there for ya. don't you know that i am right here? waiting to be pulled in. it gives me this feeling of distance and a little loneliness, and love that exists so reassuringly, but spins around in an unrequited way.

and then with grapejuice, the entire song sounds like reminiscing on the past and desperately missing something you once had, the connection and times and places you shared. they're always with you, but they're not there, and that's what's hard to get through. you get over it, but you still pay for it (which has double meaning, the increased effect of the wine, and the memory), and you're talking to yourself a bit. you're so over whites and pinks because that first blush is gone, you're into the deep reds, the bruised blues. it doesn't conclude together, but apart - there's just no getting through the grapejuice blues.

ok so i have this one INCREDIBLY incredibly fucked up one that i have been dreaming about (? wish i could explain bestie) and i for the life of me can’t remember if i read something with this exact plot five plus years ago, or if this is something i literally dreamed up. it is so outside of my normal wheelhouse and normally this type of thing is like. beyond disgusting to me and yet it’s moved into my head and won’t leave. but to keep it brief it’s about a son that replaces his father.
