#me: im going to make a character who is so wretched but so beloved by the rest of the cast anyway #what the hell is an antagonist #everyone is found family besties whether they like it or not #yes even the wretched cat boy ghoul who gives ppl heart disease #yes even the 10000000000 year old banshee queen who lives in the haunted woods and has every in unverse power #and torments everyone with amalgamations of their fears and agonies #and lets not forget the weird little spider girl ghost with 8 eyes who lived behind a bookcase since the 1800s #erina technically has a wretched era but shes baby so she isnt included #tbf cliodhna technically is the antagonist but shes not actually Bad and the aim of the game is that everyone gets a nice ending #joseph could also be considered kond of antagonistic #but they are both just reacting to the Agonies u know? if kia gets to make a deal with the death gods to defy death itself #then joseph gets to be a bit wretched as a treat #its only fair #Éanna and hyeon byeol are just watching them all like yeah ok we're not worshipped enough to stop this

I don't want to put this in the tags, since people are just having fun, but I figure you probably won't mind hearing my anon-complaints. I'm getting super annoyed by the recent influx of Jiang Chang related SVSSS crossover posts (and fics to a lesser extent).

Seeing JC interact with the PIDW world could be incredibly interesting, but the posts I keep spotting are all about the woobiefied fanon version of JC. JC and YQY are not all that much alike (JC isn't remotely loyal to WWX), and I don't think he'd get along well with LQG. The JC and SJ dynamic actually does seem like it would be fun to read, but with how toxic they both are it would be 'fun' more in the 'watching a car crash in slow motion' sort of way, rather then anything wholesome.

Anyway, mini-rant over!

Fanon: Everyone in svsss would just love Jiang Cheng!

Canon: Shen Qingqiu would take one look at Jiang Cheng and just assume that the natural state of PIDW requires a canon fodder villain to be killed. Assuming he was some previously no-named lackey, after the second time Jiang Cheng attacks Luo Binghe, Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t try to save him, anymore. Nobody else would have even cared to try.

Anyways, I know exactly what posts you’re talking about and exactly which blog keeps making them. Unfortunately for me, tumblr is trying this new thing out called “if the blog you blocked is a jc stan, the block doesn’t count,” so fuck people “having fun” in the tags. If I can’t have fun with canon on my own dash, no one is allowed to have fun with fanon on it, either 😤

Maybe my favorite part about Cheongryeo as a part-time antagonist is that he clearly genuinely likes Park Moondae/Ryu Gunwoo outside of his general obsession with him as someone who knows what he's been going through. It's interesting to have a character who does messed up shit not because he hates the main character or wants to see him fail, but because he wants to challenge him to do better. Except he's also got his brain thoroughly scrambled by regressing who knows how many times and so his 'help' comes with a huge chance of coming closer to sabotage.

#debut or die spoilers #finally reached THAT chapter and him meticulously trying to plan park moondae's next attempt at an idol career is SO funny #also him being unable to NOT play some kind of mindgame whenever he contacts Moondae?? literally incapable of being normal lol #anyways i love this take on a rival/antagonist who's more dangerous because he actually cares for the MC #another thought: it's kind of fitting that Moondae's biggest pain in the ass isn't someone who just cares about money or using him #but someone who- ironically - cares about him as a person #someone as isolated and lonely as ryu gunwoo would be hit much harder emotionally by that kind of adversary imho #just looking at his intense reaction every time cheongryeo simply contacts him truly feels like a mix of #'what the hell kind of mindgame will this asshole play next'#but ALSO 'oh god someone who is emotionally invested and strongly interested in me as a person is paying attention to me'#oh the humiliation and discomfort of suddenly holding that kind of intense attention from someone #meta
