this reading is telling me what the members are feeling and living lately with sm more than telling me about their group dynamic.

the girls have always worked very hard throughout their careers, from their trainee days until now. they have always been focused on their work and all of them have a lot of willpower. however, the challenge they have as a group is their innocence and their free spirit. it seems that the members trusted the company so much that they never stopped to think that some of the things the sm made them do could harm them in the future. they always tried to look on the bright side of things, even when everything was falling apart. other than that, and going back a little bit to what the dynamics are as a group, the girls are quite dependent on each other; they feel insecure when they do things alone. also, they are not happy about how the company pays them.

as time went on, the members began to realize that they were going to be betrayed in some way by their own company… and indeed, it happened. this made them realize that something had to change and they are now focusing on recovering from that betrayal. the girls are feeling very distressed, hurt and rejected.

But again, she hides these parts of her by putting on her cheery demeanor. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication so this placement gives Wendy an extroverted side. She enjoys interacting with the people around her and absorbing the information she can get from them. This is amplified by her Moon in Gemini being in the 2nd decan, which is ruled by Venus. She longs for companionship and tries to make friends with those who share the same ideals. Because the moon deals with the emotional self, this would mean that she expresses her emotions to a lesser degree or refuses to express them at all, as also shown by her Mars in Aquarius. This may be because of her wanting to come off as an easy-going person or that she prefers to bottle up her emotions and learn how to suppress it. This is my favorite aspect of her chart because we share the same placement! The way Wendy communicates with reveluvs is endearing. She treats us as if we’re her close friends. The bond between her and her fans is something she values deeply and so she shows appreciation for us through singing. She has a certain ability where every note is enriched with emotion and can be felt by whoever listens to her. She has stated that before, she sings only for herself because it’s her dream but now, she is singing for the enjoyment of reveluvs as well. As mentioned before, she would rather be the shoulder to cry on. On one hand, she can naturally empathize with the person in distress, listening to them cry about their plight and telling comforting words that will heal them. But on the other, she will also try to resolve the problem and give advice on how to fix it and consequently learning from the experience afterward. Mercury in Pisces means being inclined to daydream as well. A problem for people with this placement is lacking the energy to set and accomplish concrete goals. Fortunately, Wendy was able to overcome this by achieving one of her life goals. When Wendy was in high school, she was a member of the school’s show choir where she had the opportunity to showcase her talent in singing. She wanted to pursue a career in music despite her parents' initial discouragement. She had to take big risks such as moving back to South Korea from the U.S. where she resided at the time.

Also interesting to note that Wendy can speak a multitude of languages! This has a connection to her Gemini moon which influences her willingness to communicate with other people. To me, this is such a cute placement to have in general and it’s so fitting for Wendy. Because of her outgoing nature, she tends to be flirty with people she’s comfortable with (mostly girls lol). As a result, the rest of Red Velvet and especially reveluvs often fall victim to her “greasiness” because she takes every opportunity to sneak a pick-up line into the conversation (which isn’t to say it’s not reciprocated!) Those with Venus in Pisces are prone to romanticizing the world around them and it seems that’s what keeps Wendy so bright and positive! A romantic relationship with Wendy is set for the long-term. Although Venus in Pisces might seem like they fall in love with anyone who’s ever shown kindness to them, they yearn for stability and thus forge a bond with someone they know they will be with for a long time.

Wendy treasures her individuality. For the longest time, her motto has been “Be you.” That is because of this placement. Let’s not forget the fact that she was a huge nerd in her high school years too—an overachiever who always gets high grades and is involved in way too many extracurricular activities. But as years pass, she developed a more toned-down approach to how she presents her intellect and became a mature woman who can weaponize her knowledge against people. Because of the air element that is present in both this planet and her moon, she deals with her anger in a calm manner. She may be patient with you once you have made her angry and not react immediately, but she will dwell on this anger and become guarded in the future. She is also sulky when her opinion is challenged.

Overall, I really love Wendy’s birth chart. She has the whimsical and mysterious aura of a Piscean without the over indulgence in her emotions as retained by her air placements. Because of the codominance of air and water in her chart, she is humanitarian by default. She perceives the world in her idealistic vision and strives to make it as such with the power of her voice. Of course, there are many factors that play a part in shaping who Wendy is and this is just one of the ways to interpret her personality. But to me, this perfectly describes her as someone whose heart is too pure for this world.

The Covenant Random Headcanons

Caleb

Used his powers to cheat on a middle school algebra quiz once; felt so guilty that it was the first and last time he did it.

A big fan of Prince because his mom played a lot of Prince when he was growing up. Thinks that Prince had great musicality and business sense. His top track is “1999” because he likes the blending of rock and funk.

The only one of the Sons who bothers to learn choreography dances, like “Chicken Noodle Soup”, “The Cupid Shuffle”, and “Macarena.”

Into astrology. Not sure if he believes the stars rule over every aspect of his life, but he definitely knows his whole birth chart and checks his horoscope every now and then.

Tends to fall asleep while watching tv, in typical dad fashion. It’s not that he gets bored; he likes movies and tv, but he’s so used to being on the go that when he manages to sit down for prolonged periods of time. the tiredness sets in.

Pogue

The best fries come from McDonalds. In his opinion, they’re the right combination of salt and crunch. He’s really bot that picky with where they come from, unless they’re from Wendy’s—he won’t eat those limp things.

Cried when he watched the Fox and the Hound as a kid. Probably still tears up, but he denies it.

Feeds the stray cats in his neighborhood and probably gives them dated people names, like Darryl or Morris. He has been identified as a food source by the strays and some of the bolder cats will approach him now.

Doesn’t consider himself to be ‘book smart’ but is into philosophy. He doesn’t take it as a class, but reads it on his own time and philosophy books has been known to make appearances on his nightstand. Also has good building design sense and used to make the best forts as a kid.

Reid

Draws his own tattoo designs and is working on his future ones.

Asked (made) Tyler pierce his ears the summer before freshmen year. He had to enlist his friend’s help after chickening out on doing it himself multiple times.

Horror is his favorite book genre, especially likes Shirley Jackson and Stephen King. He has signed copies of some of King’s books.

Learned to play pool from his dad, who taught him everything he knows, and they often play together when Reid isn’t out hustling people at Nicky’s.

Tried the most sports out of all the Sons as a kid (karate, baseball, tennis, wrestling) but settled on swimming in high school since that’s what the other guys were doing.

Tyler

Gets called baby boy not because he’s the youngest, but because his first handle name on AIM was babyboycool88. The boys have never let him forget it and even though he’s embarrassed by it, he’s grown used to being called that at this point in his life.

His childhood bedroom was covered in Backstreet Boys and Pokémon posters.

A grandma driver which is why Reid usually insists on being the one to drive.

Too shy to talk to his crushes face-to-face and tends to leave notes in their locker instead.

He is the worst at using destructive magic of all the Sons because it’s powered by anger and he’s rarely angry, however, is really good with body/anatomical magic. He’s actually the one who taught Reid how to use the power to make people throw up.

Bonus: Chase

Enjoys films and doesn’t have a problem with going to movie theaters by himself.

Some of his favorite superheroes are Batman, Rorschach from Watchmen, and Eric Draven from the Crow because he identifies with their darker aspects.

Really good at word and number puzzles.

Takes boiling hot showers that leave his skin slightly scaled while blasting music.

Hasn’t done much traveling in his life, but the Grand Canyon is at the top of his list. When he sees photos of it, he finds the oranges and reds of the rock at sunset mesmerizing.

Don’t Let Mercury Retrograde Get You F*cked Up!

With the Mercury Retrograde in effect until July 31st, I have definitely been quieter. This is the dreadful time of the year where planet Mercury moves in an opposite direction to planet Earth. Mercury is the planet associated with Communication. As a major believer in astrology, I have always been intrigued with the planets and stars and am a big believer that we are balls of energy walking on earth.

Energy never lies.

With the retrograde miscommunication, technical errors, and angry verbal blow-ups are expected. This is the time to OBSERVE, NOT ABSORB. If you observe the energy around you, you don’t have to absorb none of it. Remember, every action doesn’t deserve a reaction. With this being said, over the past week, I have been observant and really shaking my damn head at the things I am seeing with grown ass adults. I mean, do I really have to write this article on etiquette? Why yes, yes I do. Somewhere, we lost our integrity and human empathy. From childish social media posts, petty family members and high school equivalent drama at work, the retrograde’s energy is suffocating me! It could very well be the energy bouncing off the retrograde, or it could simply be the lack of decent manners.

I wanted to share 8 etiquette rules that I live by. Remind you, I am only 36 years young and I have a lot to learn. Some of these, I, too, must remember and never step outside of the lines of respect. No one is perfect. If you are over 30 years old and you have to be reminded of these, it’s time to sit down, self reflect and repair your behavior.

1. When dropping a friend/lover/family member off at their home, wait until they have fully unlocked their door and went inside their house before leaving. I can’t tell you how much this bothers my spirit. It screams, “IDGAF if you truly get home safe or not.” A similar situation I had to learn from was when I was in my early 20s. I dated a guy who lived in a not so great part of town. After a night of clubbing, drinking excessively and even sexual relations, this guy would carelessly fall asleep. I would too sometimes but then realize I had to wake up to head home as it was still dark outside. This guy would never wake up, causing me to venture outside alone. My first pet peeve with this is if you can’ t handle your alcohol, don’t overindulge and leave your date to fend for themselves. I would always say a silent prayer that once I walked outside to my car no one would be hiding behind some bushes to kidnap or rob me. This behavior is inexcusable. Always make sure your loved one is fully in the house before driving off. I am not only discussing this as something to be aware of in bad neighborhoods, but what if that person lost their keys and their phone was dead?

2. Please don’t talk loudly on the phone in public. Okay, we have ALL done this. Sometimes you are knee deep into a conversation that just can’t be finished when you walk inside the store, however, to be loud and obnoxious is NOT the business. The other day my son and I were in Food Lion picking up a few groceries. I was strategically looking at the barbeque sauces. Reading the back of each bottle with the goal to find the one with the least amount of artificial ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup. Two young girls came into the store and were engaged in a phone conversation via face time with someone. “Ayeeee! It’s a hot girl summer girl! Turn up! Drink something!” I rolled my eyes in annoyance. Then, the worst happened, they strolled right down the sauce aisle where I casually stood. The loud laughter, yelling and inappropriate conversation almost sent me over the edge. Mind you, it’s a place and a time to turn up. Hell, I still partake in a light turn up periodically. As we age, many of us find perfect peace in the comfort of our home. We dread leaving home to visit the grocery store, hair salon, barbershop, riding public transportation, doctor’s office, etc due to this very reason. It’s instant anxiety. I understand that not all public places are quiet, but it would be a lot more enjoyable if we all respected each other’s peace in any environment. PS: It’s still a hot girl summer though, but can we leave the grocery store out of it? Thanks Megan Thee Stallion J

3. Call before you stop over someone’s house. As stated before, your home is your haven; therefore, if you see someone pop up in the driveway without a prior notice, proceed to ignore the doorbell. Now, back in the day, this may have been common as the development of technology left room for unexpected guests. Now in the 21stCentury, we communicate via phone or text. You can also send a dm, type it in a status update, or email the other party. There are too many ways to communicate a visit to show a lack of respect of popping up. The next time you even think this is a good idea, ask yourself if the other party possibly worked a long shift, has to cook dinner for their family, has extensive house chores or may be trying to find the energy to do homework with a young child. To selfishly barge into someone’s structured day without notice, even to drop off an item cannot be tolerated.

4. Never go to a party empty handed. Please do not be this person! I don’t know a single soul that is not on a budget. Even the wealthiest of people enjoy Wendys “4 for 4” and clips coupons. Any working, middle class individual knows that throwing any type of party can be costly. You have to brace yourself for the upcoming energy bill after your summer party for the amount of air condition that you provided the guests. Freeloaders are not welcome in 2019 and beyond. This shit stops TODAY! If you know someone who does this, it’s time to take his or her name off the guest list going forward. I sit back and am puzzled on how can people show up to an event held in the comfort of another’s home and just “show up.” Unless the host advises you that you don’t need to bring anything, that would be the only time to show up empty handed. It can be as small as a bag of ice or paper cups to as large as a sheet cake or a bucket of fried chicken. My go to is always a bottle of wine. You can never go wrong with that. Worst case scenario, no one drinks it and you finish the bottle yourself.

4. If you borrow money and it took you longer than expected to pay that person back, give a little interest. Okay, hear me out. Many of us have loaned a close person some money and they haven’t been able to pay us back in time. We thank God that we are able to help, but there is also that possibility that your own finances get messed up in the process. I have witnessed people getting a loan from someone who are awaiting their loan to be paid back. It could be as little as $30, which may be the monthly Internet bill. If we were all able to acquire a loan from major banks, we’d all be paying interest anyway.

5. Never put your phone on the table while eating a meal with a guest. I’ve struggled with this the most. I’ve learned that sacred time is just that, SACRED. After you’ve snap chatted a pic of your delicious plate of food, place your phone in a purse or pocket and engage. In the constant need of communication and the fast paced social media interactions, having the phone on the table screams that the phone is your guest, and not your physical one. Taking a break off technology for some old fashioned conversation is the new wave. As soon as the meal is over, then you can check the 56 likes and notifications you received on the pics of your crab legs.

6. Don’t try to build a romantic relationship over the text messages. Tinder, Bumble, POF, and the many other dating applications have made it very convenient to meet potential mates over the phone, but once you have had that icebreaker, what’s next? This is a lazy approach to continue to court someone you are very interested in via text. How would you know that you hate the way they chew without more in person interaction? I understand that sometimes many introverted people urge to date too. Being standoffish and contacting via text message will only cause the other party to look the other way when they find someone who starts actually making plans with them. Getting to know a person takes physical contact, not sex, just physical chemistry. It’s important to see if a person’s energy matches yours. Instead, call and say “I’m making breakfast, come by”, “ face time to ask them how their day went and analyze their facial expressions or plan a weekend date at the park to have some one on one. Actions are proven to show great results in terms of dating and for the life of God, STOP TEXTING “WYD” !

7. Stop asking a Black Woman if she is wearing a wig/weave. * sigh * The fact that I am saying this in 2019 is beyond me. I love to change my hair up, as it gives me a sense of empowerment. I grew up thinking my hair needed to be straightened and while there is nothing wrong with that, I have grown into acceptance of the hair that grows out of my scalp. I worked with a woman who always made a big deal about when I changed my hair. In our 9 am weekly meetings, she would broadcast to the entire staff that I have new hair. I felt all eyes on my scalp, many wondering if it was grown out of my scalp or not. This irritated the shit out of me. I am here to do a job, not to be discussed. Please do not ask a black woman, “Is all that your hair?” You can be another black woman and do this, making it unacceptable. Unless that woman puts the information out there for your curiosity, then please just don’t. Purchasing an additional hairpiece is not anyone’s business. A simple, “Your hair looks great!” compliment will suffice.

8. Never, Ever, Ever, Ever, EVER tell someone they look like they gained weight! This is self explainatory. I don’t have to go any further. Next person who tells me this, WILL get punched in the face.

Now, this is just a few and I am confident there are many many more etiquette practices that we can live by. If you know me personally, this is not a jab at you. It’s simple rules to live by. Let’s make the world a better and more caring place by practicing respect and love at all times. Now, let me go sage my entire house and myself. Time to meditate, pray and just observe. LUCY AT THE DRIVE-IN MOVIE

Synopsis

When Kim goes to a drive-in movie with her boyfriend Alan, Lucy and Harry spy on them dressed in hippie clothes to blend in.

Guest Cast

Robert L. Hughes (Alan Stevens) was mainly a theatre artist with only a dozen screen appearances, including playing the Colorado River Guide in “Lucy Runs the Rapids” (S2;E4). Hughes left show business in the 1980s to pursue a business career.

Interestingly, in his previous appearance as the Colorado River Guide, Kim flirted with him, which Lucy disapproved of. Alan's mother is in the social register and his father is a millionaire. He is 21 and taking post-graduate courses. Lucy still disapproves of him!

Larry J. Blake (Manager of the Drive-In) appeared as a Native American Medicine Man in “Lucy the Rain Goddess” (TLS S4;E15). He was an ex-vaudevillian making the second of his eight “Here’s Lucy” appearances.

Jackie Joseph (Jackie Berry) is perhaps best known as Audrey in the 1960 (non-musical) horror/comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors. From 1960-76 Jackie Joseph was married to performer, Ken Berry, one of Lucille Ball's protege's who was shooting “Mayberry R.F.D.” on the Desilu Paramount lot and followed “Here's Lucy” on the CBS Monday night line-up. Joseph and Lucille Ball appeared together in the film A Guide for the Married Man (1967).

Jackie Joseph is using her married name for the character. Jackie Berry is a married friend of Kim's who has a newborn named Wendy. Her husband is in the service.

Orwin C. Harvey (Drive-In Patron with dog, uncredited) was an actor and stuntman who played one of the singing and dancing teamsters in “Lucy Helps Ken Berry” (TLS S6;E21). This is one of his six appearances on “Here’s Lucy.”

Harvey was featured on the same “Lucy Show” episode that also starred Jackie Joseph’s husband, Ken Berry.

Robert Buckingham (Drive-In Patron, uncredited) had been seen with Lucille Ball in Critic's Choice (1963). This is his third and last uncredited appearance on the series.

Other men and women (and one dog) at the drive-in go uncredited.

The final draft of this script was submitted on April 28, 1969.

On the date this episode was originally aired (November 10, 1969) “Sesame Street” debuted on PBS, changing the landscape of children's television. In 1970, production memos for the show indicate that Lucille Ball and Gale Gordon were to be guest stars, with their segments taped at the Paramount stage where they were shooting “Here's Lucy.” The appearances, however, were postponed and never came to be. In 2007 “Sesame Street” mentioned “I Love Lucy,” although they were referring to Lucy the Lazy Lizard. During the reference, the background music was similar to the “I Love Lucy” theme. In the book Sesame Street Unpaved it is pointed out that Snuffy shares his astrological sign, Leo, with Lucille Ball.

In the DVD introduction to the episode, Jackie Joseph reinforces that Lucille Ball was all business on the set, but a dear friend when not working.

The episode opens with Craig alone in the living room singing along to a record. "It Was a Very Good Year" is a song Ervin Drake composed in 1961 for and originally recorded by Bob Shane with The Kingston Trio. It was subsequently made famous by Frank Sinatra and won him a Grammy Award in 1966. Craig imitates Sinatra's performance style, but Lucy jokingly says she thought he was imitating Lawrence Welk. Lucy admits that Sinatra was her idol when she was a bobby-soxer. Lawrence Welk will make an appearance as himself on a future “Here's Lucy” episode. Although Lucille Ball knew Sinatra socially, the two never acted together on screen.

When Lucy hears that Kim's boyfriend Alan graduated from Berkeley, she is visibly upset. Craig jokes that Alan got two degrees and three arrests for picketing. During the 1960s the University of California Berkeley was the site of several riots and protest marches that received national attention.

When Lucy is concerned about Kim being too young for Alan, Craig reminds Lucy that she was 17 when she married his father. This is one of the few mentions of Lucy's late husband.

Kim and Alan are going to the drive-in to see a (fictional) Italian film titled La Notte Del Bacio Dolce, which translates to Sweet Night Kiss. Craig also goes on a date to another drive-in with his girlfriend Patty. This may be seen as a coy reference to Desi Jr.'s dating Patty Duke, although most sources agree that the two did not meet until 1970, a year after this episode was filmed.

Lucy does a long comic take when she realizes Kim and Alan are going to a drive-in. In the 1950s and 60s drive-in movies were dubbed “passion pits” because they were a popular place for teenagers to be alone together for making out on a date. Although drive-in theatres were very popular in the 1960s there are hardly any remaining today. The first one opened in Camden, New Jersey in 1933. The fourth in the nation was in Los Angeles (above) in 1934. Although Lucy is a self-confessed movie fan, she acts as though she has never been to a drive-in before, not knowing how to activate the sound or where to hang the speaker.

Meanwhile, bachelor Harry is home alone looking at the centerfold of a magazine that has a scantily clad woman on the cover! Although the magazine's name has been taped over, it is likely supposed to be Playboy magazine. In the image of Playboy’s founder, Hugh Hefner, Harry wears a red silk smoking jacket and is drinking a cocktail. While ogling the centerfold from every angle he sighs and sings “To dream the impossible dream.” “The Impossible Dream” was written by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh for the 1964 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha. Harry also looked at a magazine with a centerfold in “Lucy's Birthday” (S1;E8).

Lucy and Harry's 1965 Dodge Dart is the same car used in “Lucy Helps Craig Get a Driver's License” (S1;E24)...

... except that the license plate was California WMO-526 and it is now UTM-541. Also, the dialogue infers that it is Harry's car, not Lucy's.

The hood of Alan's car has collected a great deal of dust. Apparently the vehicle was in studio storage for quite some time and not wiped down prior to shooting.

Besides the crazy get-ups worn by Lucille and Gale , this episode is very funny, with a great twist ending.
