Still thinking about Naruto in the year of our lord 2024 so I was wondering what your take would be on a Sannin swap, meaning team seven has different mentally unstable mentors from canon so they can be traumatized/educated in new and exciting ways <3
I've written a few about the potential dynamics between Naruto/Orochimaru, Sasuke/Tsunade, and Sakura/Jiraiya, but let me tell you about the different iteration that really and truly is my favorite:
Sakura/Orochimaru
Mad scientist, came-from-nothing ninja with insane chakra control reporting for duty.
Orochimaru takes one look at this pink-haired freak with a puddle of chakra who thinks she can stand side-by-side with the kyuubi and the last of one of the great dojutsu and says, would you like to live deliciously?
And Sakura says, of course I would.
It is not enough for her to succeed, others must fail. And Orochimaru loves and appreciates this about her.
Sakura runs away from Konoha with the promise of having a mentor who will teach her, who will focus on her, who will believe that she's more than her pitiful background and more than her overwhelming teammates.
She is, at first, foisted onto Kabuto. She frightens Kabuto.
When she gets good enough to replace Kabuto, which happens in a very alarming two years (max), Kabuto suddenly gets to live with the ever-present threat of becoming an experiment.
Orochimaru adores her and encourages her to steal any and all clan techniques and kekkei genkai that she can. Why should she be barred from knowledge if she yearns for it?
Sakura is the most learned woman in the elemental nations. She has figured out Orochimaru's Body Problem. She's replicated the Strength of a Hundred seal Tsunade uses. They are a plague unto Konohagakure.
She's gene splicing like nobody's business.
The only people who care that Sakura up and left are Naruto, Kakashi, a bit of Sasuke, and Ino. Except for...well, no one has that manic desire to bring her back, the way Naruto did when Sasuke went missing nin. They kind of view her as a failed experiment, though Ino misses her and thinks of her a lot.
Sasuke/Jiraiya
Such a miserable duo, but they kind of like it.
Jiraiya is strong enough to keep Sasuke safe, and he keeps the kid out of Konoha, which he really needed.
Sasuke takes to everything quickly and antagonistically. Jiraiya hates having such a talented student - he is, perhaps, even more talented than Minato - who is so desperately antisocial.
You know that one post that's like, someone who's objectively attractive but has negative rizz? That's Sasuke, and Jiraiya despairs on the regular, because this student of his should, in theory, take over this position as horny spy master with the way he effortlessly draws in beautiful women who can act as informants. Sadly, due to his personality, no one would ever believe that Sasuke is just charming these (knowledgable) women into bed with him.
Sasuke takes to sealing, and Jiraiya is petrified that he's going to come up with something to, like, replenish his clan at an alarming rate.
Sasuke gets rid of his brother with some sort of homemade seal that traps him in a Matryoshka doll or something. He didn't technically commit fratricide, but Itachi is suffering in that thing.
He comes back to the village looking way better than he did when he left. Jiraiya takes that as his main point of pride.
Naruto/Tsunade
Naruto, should he learn chakra control, is the ideal healer in that he has more chakra than should fit in a human body, even an Uzumaki.
It's the chakra control that is Tsunade's true challenge in teaching. And, good god, is it a challenge. Sasuke is already murdering his brother by the time Naruto can reliably aid in a minor surgery.
But once he finally learns it, Naruto is improving in leaps and bounds, as is his way.
He completes a Strength of a Hundred seal six months after he finally learns chakra control. Sakura has had hers for two years, and he does not know or care.
Naruto is saving people at unprecedented rates. Honestly, Tsunade struggles to justify making him a combat medic, because he's doing so much good in the hospital just staying at the village.
Naruto is Naruto, though, so Tsunade teaches him to brawl using her style.
He winds up on the most dangerous missions, due to the fact that he has a natural healing ability with his Kyuubi, and is now the most talented healer Konoha has (who insists on getting out there).
Honestly, I could see him winding up in ANBU, given those skills and traits.
His true hardship, after mastering chakra control, is realizing that his talk-no-jutsu isn't going to work all the time and that he can't derail missions to attempt it.
Naruto is a better hokage for it, in the end.

I need more fics and au where Kakashi is the fifth hokage. I've only seen one and it's 1/? and there are no chapters for a long time.
Let's be honest, the arc with Tsunade returning to the village is cool and important to the plot, but. Tsunade hasn't been to the village in 30 years, she hasn't been an active shinobi for the same amount of time and here she is returning as hokage. It's not like that. I'd like to see an au where Tsunade agrees to return to the village, but only as the head of the hospital. For the role of hokage, look for someone else.
Imagine a council of Konoha jonin, clan heads and so on. They're all thinking about who to make the hokage (just not Danzo). There are heated arguments, discussions that they should force Jiraiya or someone else. Shikaku's gaze falls on Kakashi, who is sitting quietly in a corner, trying to keep quiet so he won't be noticed.
Shikaku's eyes lighten up. A very strong shinobi, a genius even. A student of the fourth hokage, already a sensei and not the head of the clan (not like Inoichi, Shikaku and the others). Basically, a free guy.
Kakashi feels goosebumps and raises his head, meeting Shikaku's gaze. And that's it. A very heated discussion begins, Kakashi vehemently refuses and gives a dozen arguments. They give him two dozen in opposition. It's settled.
Kakashi is officially appointed the fifth Hokage.
Naruto is happy, Sakura is moderately happy too, everyone is relatively happy about it (except Danzo of course). After a while, the news reaches the Akatsuki hideout. Itachi is happy for his sempai, but Obito? Good question, it's his perennial sore subject - Kakashi is better at everything and gets what Obito would have wanted. Now he's fulfilled his childhood dream as well. What will Obito do next? Good question.
The story will take a different turn, huh. Kakashi won't go on missions to rescue Gaara and Sasuke with Naruto and won't have many moments I guess? Paine's attack arc will go differently too, maybe Obito will officially join the party. What about Madara's battle against the five kage? Ugh, so much to think about.

Could I request how it would be with indra, madara,Sakura, tsunade, kakashi, itachi, obito,Sasuke, shisui with a request like this?Thank you ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Sure.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, clinginess, delusional mindset
Hold me or I won't be able to sleep
Indra Otsutsuki
Tumblr media
💜He isn’t someone overly obsessed with physical affection so if his s/o is someone who’s clingy, they’ll have to be prepared for Indra to snap at them if they annoy him. Sure, he is slightly more tolerant because you’re his darling but that doesn’t make his words and actions less harsh. Indra feels torn apart about this habit of yours. On the one hand he naturally enjoys the dependency factor it has because it ensures that you won’t be able to ever leave him except if you desire to become the world’s greatest insomniac.
💜The undeniable clinginess that comes alongside with it tends to get on his nerves at times though because if you want to head to bed and go to sleep and he doesn’t, he’ll obviously ignore your pleads to tag along. Indra stays up at night pretty long as he deems training to be more important than going to bed early. You’ll have to adjust your sleep schedule to his own as you can’t fall asleep without him. Indra forces you to join his training anyways and if you don’t do well in his eyes, he won’t join you in bed. If you want to sleep, earn it.
Madara Uchiha
Tumblr media
🌑Madara is a little bit more smug about the whole ordeal because he takes more pride in the fact that his s/o literally needs him if they want to enjoy some sleep. It’s like candy for his possessive side. Like, he’s sometimes just making fun of his darling because of this, whether jokingly or in a more condescending tone depending on the strength of your relationship at that point. At times he’s denying you by not going to bed and if you want him to cuddle you, you’ll have to beg him and stroke his ego.
🌑He has an image to keep outside your home though as the head of the Uchiha Clan so those playful acts of his are mostly only reserved for your private chambers. It isn’t uncommon for Madara to be gone long too, whether this is because of a meeting with the eldest or a mission. In such cases you're forbidden to seek him out or join him as in such moments he has to keep his scary face. As tempting as it may be to have you on his lap, especially during boring council meetings, you’ll play it safe by waiting for him.
Tsunade Senju
Tumblr media
🐌Tsunade is a doctor so she is very fixated on the health of her darling. This includes quite obviously also their sleep schedule. Now, the beautiful lady is a tad bit happy when she realizes that her darling needs her if they want to sleep but she isn’t blinded enough to make the right judgement as a medic. That this dependence isn’t normal and could also be interfering with your sleep. She’s worried that she might not always be able to join you in bed which would leave you unable to sleep and could harm your health.
🐌The Fifth Hokage finds herself growing clingier as a result of that and often takes her with you, even in the office of the Hokage. Honestly, as guilty as she might feel because she still knows that such a habit is unhealthy, she also can’t deny that she adores it a bit. Whenever you fall asleep on her lap, she fawns over you, denying all the paperwork once again in favor of cuddling you. Still, Tsunade tries to clear her own schedule to go to bed with you so that you can fall asleep soundly and get a good nights rest.
Kakashi Hatake
Tumblr media
📖A very tiny part of Kakashi is also a bit flattered about the fact that you need him with you if you want to fall asleep. Underneath his often nonchalant attitude is after all a possessive and paranoid man so he feels weirdly reassured as he knows at one point for sure that you’ll never leave him. For the biggest part though, Kakashi feels pressured and is even worried. His own sleep schedule is all over the place after all and even more so if he’s already the Hokage. In between all of that he needs to put you in somewhere.
📖Whilst his own health and sleep schedule may not matter that much to Kakashi, it’s a different story for you so in the end he’s still stressed. The man does his best to be there for you though. He’s probably a bit hesitant to take you with him in the Hokage office where you might fall asleep on his lap. Don’t misunderstand, he loves it normally when you sit on his lap but that’s only for when you two are alone at home. He’s far too protective and possessive to let you be so vulnerable in the office and be seen by others.
Obito Uchiha
Tumblr media
🔥Truthfully, at this rate Obito might as well be an insomniac who rarely gets a good amount of sleep. He denies sleep in favor of his plans and nightmares of Rin’s death might just be another fact that keeps him away from laying down for a much needed rest. The Uchiha is unhealthily attached to his darling though and for that willingly joins them in bed whenever they head to bed. He’s already quite co-dependent on you so the knowledge that you also depend on him for your sleep makes him quite happy.
🔥You only feel secure enough to drift off to sleep when being held by him, you have no idea how happy this makes him. Obito is very clingy to top it all so you don’t even need to ask him, the moment you go to your bedroom he’s already eagerly following you. He has no sleep schedule of his own after all, even if he had one, he’d still adjust it to fit your own. He is for the largest amount of time not even really sleeping, he’s just watching you sleeping. That sounds quite creepy but for Obito it’s almost therapeutic.
Shisui Uchiha
Tumblr media
🍂Shisui is for the biggest part quite responsible and focused on your well-being and as much as he’d like to bask in this all more, he can’t help but be worried. Your dependency would under different circumstances be quite sweet but not when it stops you from getting the healthy amount of sleep you require. Shisui is an Anbu and one of the most skilled and feared on top of that so he is on missions which can be very lengthy. He’s used to it but now he has to worry about you in the back of his mind.
🍂You can’t just skip on sleep during his absence so what Shisui does is seek out a good medic to help with your condition. You need to learn to sleep even without him. If you need to take special sleeping pills or other medication to fall asleep, you’ll do so. Otherwise you’ll worry your lover very much. Whenever Shisui isn’t on missions, he can’t deny that he spends more time with you, worried about your health due to the severe lack of sleep. He always forces you into a strict sleep schedule when he’s with you.
Itachi Uchiha
Tumblr media
🍡Itachi has similar problems as Shisui but even more severe as he’s a member of the Akatsuki and his missions can go on for a long time too. What is he supposed to do then? You can’t get any sleep or very little without him. He didn’t expect you to develop such a co-dependence on him when he abducted you and neither did you but now both of you are here and Itachi just feels incredibly sorry for you. He sees how much it affects you whenever he returns from a mission, how the lack of sleep drives you insane.
🍡He spends as much time as he can with you, secretly starts dreading the next mission where he has to leave you alone. He tries everything he can, even searches on his missions for some herbs or other things that are supposed to help someone to fall asleep and brings them with him in hopes that it’ll help you. If the problem gets too severe, he even starts considering to bring you along on missions. He’s quite hesitant though as those are always dangerous and he’s far too protective to ever get you in risky situations.
Sasuke Uchiha
Tumblr media
💙Similar to Madara, I can see Sasuke as feeling quite smug with this situation. It helps to satiate his possessive side more as it gives him an unfair advantage over you. If you don’t want to be robbed of your precious sleep, you’ll have to stay with him after all. Especially during his teenage years though I can’t help but see him as more difficult as you have to be careful with how clingy you are and how your sleep schedule works. Sasuke is very focused on training after all so he won’t go earlier to bed just for you.
💙Whilst you’re forced to adjust your schedule to his own during his younger years, Sasuke is far more relaxed as he gets older. Both of you are traveling around at that point, but he doesn’t mind stopping somewhere if you want to take a nap. Something that truly never changes though is his defensive behavior against anyone who might stumble upon you sleeping. Partially because he’s embarrassed to be caught cuddling his s/o, mostly because he absolutely won’t allow anyone else to see you in such a vulnerable cute state.
Sakura Haruno
Tumblr media
🌸Sakura takes this problem a tad bit more serious than her teacher does. As a doctor how could she not, she should know best how important a healthy amount of sleep is. Not that she is one to talk, considering that she often spends time overworking herself in the hospital. Perhaps that’s where the problem starts though, she works a lot. Surgeries, daily routines of checking the health of her patients and so many other stuff that keeps her from coming home earlier. Even she gets called out for working too much.
🌸She definitely tries to come up with different methods to hopefully get you to fall asleep. Tea, exercise or something else. If she realizes that it has little to no effect, she tries something else. She either tries to actually head the advice of other doctors in the hospital and finish her shift on time or she invites you to just tag along and spend your time in the hospital with her. You don’t have time to sit on her lap though as Sakura is often busy with patients, if she has some paperwork to do though she will allow you to just sit on her lap and doze off.

Pairing: Hatake Kakashi/Haruno Sakura
Notes: Love a man in an ANBU uniform and I love fun team dynamics
Word Count: 2.082
Summary: Sakura, Kakashi, and Genma are pulled into Lord Ko’s idiotic scheme to get back at his ex, but they all get a little more than they bargained for. Not that anyone’s mad. Except maybe Genma.
Tumblr media
“Tsunade-sama,” Sakura groaned, rubbing her temple. “You cannot be serious.”
“Sorry Sakura,” Tsunade replied, not seeming sorry at all. “Lord Ko asked specifically for a pretty kunoichi who could pretend to be his new girlfriend to make his ex jealous,” she responded brightly. “Wouldn’t you be offended if I had asked anyone else?”
“Ino. Hinata. Tenten.” Sakura listed, deadpan.
“Clan head, clean head, on a mission.” Tsunade responded.
Behind Sakura, two ANBU stood silently, watching the exchange between teacher and student with well concealed mirth.
“ Shishou,” Sakura whined, “don’t I have a reputation to uphold?”
“Ko is paying stupid amounts of money for this idiotic jealousy scheme. It's ridiculous. And he’s paying top dollar for the best escorts too, just to show his ex how important and powerful he is.” Tsunade smiled devilishly.
Sakura groaned and slumped in the chair in front of Tsunade’s desk.
“C’mon kid, think of it as a vacation. You get to sit pretty in some palace for a few days. Think of the food!” Tsunade exclaimed. Looking back at the two shinobi, still standing at attention, she said, “It’s a vacation for you guys too—easy peasy. Not that Sakura would need protecting anyways.”
Scowling, Sakura huffed, “How is parading around at a ball while I’m thrown around like an object, just so some idiot man can get back with his ex a vacation for me? ” Sakura said indignantly. “What if the crazy bitch decides to retaliate or something?”
Snorting, Genma broke his silence. “I’m pretty sure you could handle a civilian who’s never held a kunai.”
“Genma and Kakashi aren’t even the best,” Sakura complained, earning an indignant choke from Genma and a sniff from Kakashi. “Shouldn’t Shisui or Itachi be here?” Sakura leaned back in her chair, slowly accepting her fate.
“Wow,” Kakashi drawled, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Is that anyway to talk to your old teacher?”
Sakura snorted, “You barely taught and that was well over a decade ago.”
“Pft,” Tsunade shrugged. “This mission is something genin could honestly do. You and Hatake are there for the reputation. Doctor Haruno Sakura, Godaime’s apprentice, best med-nin across the Five Elemental Nations, co-director of the Konoha hospital, strongest shinobi on this planet—beautiful and intelligent,” she puffed her chest with each title. “And, uh, the Copy Nin,” she threw in, “are more than enough.”
“Hey!” Genma interjected, “What about me?”
“We just needed another ANBU guard.” Tsunade responded at the same time Kakashi said, “You’re just a pretty face.”
Folding his arms across his chest Genma pouted. “You can’t even see my face.”
Sighing once again, Sakura braced her elbows on the Hokage’s desk and cradled her forehead with her hands. “When do we leave?”
Tsunade handed Sakura a scroll. “Today.”
Slowly easing herself from the chair and throwing another exasperated glance at her mentor she wearily bowed.
“Sakura,” Tsunade started softly. Sakura peered up at her mentor through a curtain of pink hair. “Don’t forget to cover your Byakugo seal, ha!” Tsunade said, full of mirth.
Heaving out a breath and tiredly running a hand over her face, Sakura mock saluted her teacher and caught the scroll tossed her way.
“These have all the outfits, accessories, and makeup needed for the mission. Don’t ruin or lose anything—it was expensive as shit,” Tsunade warned.
“I didn’t realize the village had gowns in the vault for loan,” Sakura said wryly.
“I had them custom made for you,” Tsunade responded with a glint in her eye.
Opening her mouth in surprise Sakura squeaked, “What if I had rejected the mission?” her voice rising in consternation.
“Like you’d defy me, brat,” Tsunade with an eye roll.
Looking wearily over at Kakashi and Genma, Sakura said, “Meet me at the North gate at noon.”
.
Under the shadow of the North gate, Sakura hummed to herself as she double checked the contents of her pack and storage scrolls. She was looking forward to the mission. Despite her irritation in Hokage Tower, Sakura couldn’t remember the last time she was assigned to a mission that didn’t require her to be elbows deep in entrails or trekking through swamplands.
Plus, the company could be worse.
Light steps approached her. Two lithe forms in uniform, masks hanging at their hips, Sakura tried to fix her eyes on their faces.
“We’ll likely get to the palace around dinner time if we don’t rush. The ball is in three days and we can figure out security details when we meet with Ko,” Sakura said, securing her heaving pack on her back.
Kakashi and Genma exchanged nods and the trio started walking past the faded red of the village gate. Shoulder to shoulder, the spring breeze rustling through the Hashirama trees, the three of them could almost forget they were officially on a mission.
“For background,” Genma said, “I was on the security detail for Lord Ko a while back and he’s kind of a creep and kind of a loser.”
Kakashi chuckled behind his book and Sakura rolled her eyes.
“I figured if he had to pay women to be his date despite his status, he would be kind of a loser.” She tipped her face towards the sun and briefly closed her eyes. A vacation, a vacation, a vacation, she kept repeating. “I read the intel reports on him, my favorite was Anko’s. She basically just wrote ‘fucking loser’ over and over again on his personality section.”
Genma’s laughter carried through the forest and despite herself, Sakura laughed too.
“Behind closed doors, his own staff and advisors have been trying to get him out of power ever since his father passed,” Kakashi said, absentmindedly turning a page.
“A coup?” Sakura and Genma looked at Kakashi. Preventing political upheaval and getting information back to Konoha was a completely different mission than playing house.
Kakashi shrugged. “We’ve known this for years, his opposition won’t do anything rash. But the Lord is surprisingly politically savvy, he puts his foot down when necessary, loser or not.”
Wordlessly, they simultaneously leapt into the thick foliage of the forest and settled into a line formation with Genma at front and Kakashi in the back. Sakura considers this new intel.
“We likely don’t have to worry about any real political upheaval unless he proves entirely incompetent along with being an embarrassment,” Kakashi continued. “But just something to keep in mind.”
“How do you know this?” Sakura mentally cataloged the reports she read in Tsunade’s office, “I didn’t see any mention of this.”
All of a sudden, Sakura felt his breath at the nape of her neck. She fought the shiver that ran down her back.
“I do work, Sakura,” Kakashi whispered. He immediately fell back and Sakura felt a hot rush flood down her face to the pit of her stomach. She didn’t even hear him coming.
But looking back, that’s always how he operated. He’d never announce his presence, but she always saw him nearby. After slipping away from the village on confidential missions that even Tsunade wouldn’t disclose, she’d find him sitting in her office for his first post-mission check up in a year. After a hard week at the hospital, or a particularly grueling mission, he’d slide next to her at the bar and order their favorites.
Jokes under a whisper, the brush of a hand, the faintest outline of a smile, little peeks of what was under the mask.
.
I’m going to kill Tsunade, I’m going to kill Tsunade, I’m going to fucking kill Tsunade.
“I just know that we’re going to have such a great time, Sakura,” Lord Ko purred. His soft hands had imprisoned hers throughout lengthy introductions and while Sakura marveled at his scarless, uncalloused hand at first, she was ready to reduce it to a bloody stump.
She smiled and nodded as pleasantly as she could muster, trying to pull her hand back to her side. I’m going to kill everyone in this room.
“I’ve been following your work for quite some time,” he grinned, his wide face gleaming at her, not a pore in sight. He continued petting her captive hand while she felt a blood vessel pop in her eye. “I am quite the fan,” he crooned, leaning closer to her on the plush velvet cushion he insisted they share.
“I see, yes, thank you,” she said non committedly, and quickly glanced at the whispering courtiers to the side, hiding behind their fans, eyes pitying her.
“I can’t wait to see you in--”
“Let’s discuss the security details in private,” Kakashi interrupted, approaching the raised dais Ko and Sakura were seated on.
The hushed whispers in the room stopped immediately as Kakashi spoke. He and Genma had waited to the side, melting with the shadows of the columns. But as he stood in front of Sakura, it seemed unimaginable that he could ever be overlooked. He stood in stark contrast from the plush velvet rug underneath his boots, the rubies of the chandelier above him. All severe angles and brutal functionality. Genma slipped from the shadows and stood next to Kakashi, acknowledging Lord Ko with a curt nod.
There was an imperceptible twitch at the Lord’s brow as he assessed the masked pair below him and stared at Kakashi with an air of disingenuous affability. His smooth face broke out in a mild grin and he spread his arms wide--Sakura’s hand in tow.
“You’re ever so correct, ANBU, let the three of us discuss this in more privacy,” Ko said with a flourish of his robes. Surprisingly light on his feet for a large man, he quickly led Sakura down the steps of the dais, thick fabrics trailing behind him.
Without sparing Genma or Kakashi a glance, Ko brushed past the two while grasping Sakura by the hip.
Sakura reconsidered homicide.
.
The palace study, to Sakura’s slight dismay, was breathtaking. They sat at a great oak table, with chairs so wide they could fit two. The cushions were covered in an exquisite cream silk stitched in a pattern to resemble bound ropes. Lord Ko pulled Sakura’s chair for her and the heavy wood slid back on a plush green rug. He sat at the head of the table, facing a stained glass window that made up an entire wall depicting a dragon in flight through the sea.
Ko rang a bell he procured from one of his deep sleeves and servants filtered through the room and set up tea, water, and some documents. He leaned as far as he could towards Sakura, large belly heaving over his armrest, and Sakura scooted as far away as possible, thankful for the lavish chair. He poured her tea himself, allowing his servants to serve himself, Genma, and Kakashi on delicate porcelain plates.
Looking across the table, Sakura stifled a smile, watching Kakashi daintily sip from the white and gold teacup in full ANBU uniform.
“Lord Ko,” Genma said to Sakura’s left, “we’ll need floor plans of the palace, and the proceedings for the ball to best assess security measures.”
Genma, Sakura forgot, was a professional at the end of the day.
“Ah yes, the blueprints,” Ko said airily, “not sure where that would be, you both,” he pointed to Genma and Kakashi with his teacup, “are free to walk around the premises and draw a map.”
Sakura’s brows shot up, and she could sense Genma fighting the urge to lunge at Ko’s neck. The Lord pulled a fan from an inner pocket of his robe and fanned himself as he turned his whole body to Sakura.
“Sakura--”
“Do you have any enemies we should be aware of?” Kakashi interrupted.
Lord Ko continued fanning himself, rings glinting on his thick fingers. “Dig around in the files the servants brought, there’s bound to be some information in there,” he said, never turning his gaze from Sakura.
Sakura grabbed as many papers as she could and started examining them quickly, anything to distract herself from Lord Ko’s roaming eyes.
“If all the information is in these documents, we’ll reconvene tomorrow afternoon to discuss,” Genma stated, shuffling folders together and standing up.
Sakura made a mental note to profess her undying love to Genma as soon as she had the chance. As Sakura made moves to leave, Ko grabbed her armchair and pouted. “We didn’t discuss the ball yet or what the dress code is,” he said desperately, searching her eyes.
“That information isn’t in these files?” she asked weakly, hope seeping out her body.

Alpha/Alpha 2
tw: omegaverse, mental health
Kakashi was frozen where Iruka had stopped him. He could breathe again. Or at least, it felt like it. Before Iruka used his alpha voice on him, all that seemed to pass his throat was a growl. However, the sudden intake of air also made it easier to think. Kakashi had flashbacks of everything that had happened since he went through Konoha’s gates. It wasn’t pretty.
Kakashi knew he hadn’t been doing too well since the dismantlement of Team 7. It was the third time he had lost a pack. Neither his instincts nor his brain had been able to cope properly.
He had been overly aggressive for months. He never felt safe anymore. His paranoia and loneliness were at an all-time high.
But Iruka made him feel safe.
It made no sense. It wasn’t as if they were particularly close. And more importantly, Iruka might have an unusual job for an alpha — taking care of kids — but he was still very much an alpha. Kakashi should have wanted to tear his throat apart the same way he had gotten so damn close to doing to Tsunade and every other alpha he had come across.
And yet, Kakashi felt a deep need to please Iruka.
The only reason he wasn’t showing his neck to the sensei was all the other alphas around them. The latest were also why he still felt distressed and was — barely — holding back a whine.
When had he turned into an omega? He didn’t have an extended education in Secondary Genders but he was pretty sure he — an alpha — wasn’t supposed to be fantasizing about the things he was currently thinking about.
Like having Iruka blanket him with his scent for example.
* * *
Iruka didn’t know what he was doing. He wasn’t a leader, nor particularly dominant. That was why he was so good at his job and hadn’t pursued a similar career path to his peers. And yet, despite his fears, he was more than decent at shouldering responsibilities.
He moved slowly, ridiculously slowly, toward the other alpha.
Kakashi didn’t react other than following him with his gaze.
“Kakashi?” Iruka called.
No response. Great.
“It’s going to be okay,” Iruka added.
Platitude, he knew it, but couldn’t think of anything better to say. Especially as he moved closer and started to get hints of Kakashi’s scent. None only his blockers were failing, but he was clearly in a state of distress.
Surprisingly enough, Kakashi’s scent wasn’t completely unbearable. It wasn’t pleasant. The other alpha was distressed after all, but it didn’t so much make Iruka paranoid than it made him want to envelop Kakashi in a warm blanket and, even crazier, with his own scent.
Iruka hesitated when he got at arm's length. He couldn’t help but think about a few of the many, many, ways Kakashi could kill right now if he wished to.
Except that was when Kakashi whined. Straight up whined. Like an omega.
And Iruka’s arms were around the other alpha before he could think better of it, bringing their bodies together in a comforting embrace.
Kakashi took a loud intake of breath, his head lolling forward into Iruka’s neck.
Iruka tensed for a moment before he realized Kakashi had also completely exposed himself in the movement. He relaxed slightly but kept a firm stance as Kakashi trusted him to carry more and more of his weight.
Iruka got lost in his thoughts for a while. Kakashi was starting to smell like pine resin and something that reminded the sensei of stormy weather rather than mud on a battlefield. He liked it.
“Well that happened,” Genma mumbled from somewhere behind them.
Iruka almost jumped out of his skin. He had forgotten about the others.
It wasn’t the only thing he hadn’t been paying enough attention to: he could feel Kakashi’s nose — not his mask, his actual skin! — against his left scent gland because Kakashi had somehow gotten rid of his face cover and Iruka’s patch.
“Kakashi?” he tried again.
“Alpha?”
Barely a whisper but still so wrong. Iruka peeled himself away, slowly, carefully. And Kakashi whimpered. Thankfully, Iruka’s scent had — somehow — turned him into mush otherwise, there was no way Iruka would have been able to manhandle him to his liking.
Iruka got a hand in the other alpha’s hair to bring his head up and Kakashi didn’t fight him also he looked defeated… Iruka’s eyes widened as he took into Kakashi’s full face. He quickly brought the other’s mask back up.
“I’m sorry,” Iruka said.
Kakashi didn’t seem to mind, nor even register his words. His half-leaded eyes focused on Iruka’s neck.
“What happened to him?” Iruka asked finally. He didn’t move but threw a glance at the others above his shoulder. “Was he drugged?”
“Not that Tsunade can tell,” Asuma replied.
He was still as tense. All of them were. He couldn’t blame them.

I saw you in one of the posts saying kakashi x shizune is underrated, honestly I have never thought about it before probably because I don't see a lot of content for this pairing so I would like to know why you think that? Your Kakashi theories are always great so I would like to hear your point.
Thank you for the ask 😊❤ and tbh I'm glad you asked lol
Tumblr media
1- kid Shizune used to hate kid Kakashi so much because she thought he was rude and arrogant
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then she left with Tsunade for about 20 years and only came back to the village when Tsunade became the Hokage, the next time we saw her talking to Kakashi after coming back to the village she was always so nice to him and was always treating him with so much respect and admiration so there must have been a time skip where she gets to see how much he changed from that arrogant rude kid who only cared about the rules to the wholesome, wonderful man he is, I recommend reading this ficlet by @depressedhatakekakashi of how their first meeting after Shizune came back to the village was 🥰
2- And then there's the way she call him "Lord Kakashi" over and over and over again and then try to poorly hide her giggles when he gives her that long suffering look, this woman knows what she's doing and she's deliberately teasing him lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3- She spent a lifetime with someone who suffered from trauma like Tsunade and was able to deal with her perfectly and even push her to finish her work when she slacked off and was able to be soft, kind and supportive when she knew that right now she needs support so she would know exactly how Kakashi feels and how to deal with his trauma too and would understand and be patient with him the same way she was with Tsunade, giving him his space when he needs it or be right by his side when he needs comforting,
4- both of them are animal lovers so I can easily see them bonding over this AND! there's the very important fact that Kakashi is the only human being who can speak pig language lol
Tumblr media
also there's the fact that Kakashi is the only person who Shizune ever left Tonton with while she wasn't around and he was getting along with Tonton pretty well, we've never seen her leaving Tonton with anyone before except for Kakashi
5- Pakkun and Tonton are friends and they get along with each other very well
Tumblr media
6- And then are those scenes where she makes him tea without he asks for it while he's suffering with the Hokage duties and when she kept lecturing him about not eating well enough and that he's supposed to take care of himself more, all of their interactions when she was his assistant after becoming the 6th Hokage were so so cute
So I think there's a lot of potentials to this ship
7- Also I love the fact that both of them still haven't aged a day after their 30's in Boruto, all the other female characters of the older generation except Tsunade aged terribly and Shizune literally looks exactly the same and same goes for Kakashi XD

I really wonder where Kishimoto was going with Sakura and Kurenai before he decided to give the genjutsu plotline solely to the Uchihas.
I'm not that bothered about Kurenai using her skill on Itachi, since it was stated that she was a fairly new jonin and it could be a mistake born from her inexperience.
Kurenai didn't know who Ibiki Morino was before the Chuning Exams, so that's an example of what I mean. Sure, everyone knew about Itachi and the Uchihas, but her lack of knowledge makes (for me at least) a rather interesting point about just how distant the shinobi world can be.
Kakashi and Gai were presented as the exception because Kakashi has a sharingan and Gai was his close friend, having trained and competed with him for so long. (Later we learn about Kakashi and his complex history with the Uchiha clan, too).
But like— The Classic uses characters that are or are expected to be well versed in genjutsu to tell Sakura seems promising in that regard. There's a point where Kakashi mentions he trained Sakura in genjutsu. Even in Shippuden, the first thing he does when they do the bell test again is point out that she was a genjutsu type. She's now a copy of Tsunade, but her original talent is not worked yet.
Let's say for a moment making Kurenai a genjutsu specialist was used as a frame to compare how the Uchihas were superior to other people, given their sharingan. It can be, since Kurenai s genjutsu doesn't really shine in any other moment.
But was it just a coincidence that Kurenai shares her character design colors with the Uchiha clan? Was she, at any point of the creative process of Kishimoto, related to the Uchihas?
If Kishimoto already knew that there was no other character that could compete with the Uchihas in genjutsu, why did he keep mentioning how good Sakura could be at it? It was another point that could be used to bring Sakura and Sasuke closer, you know, if the writer wanted to further their romance. A genjutsu type kunoichi marries into a clan best known for their genjutsu abilities, again, just another coincidence.
I'm not saying any of these was planned or not, just that it makes me wonder.

heehee--looking back over that post with the Three Beauties, I think the "Four of a Kind" team is a great idea, too. Maybe it's just because I love how Anko gets characterized in fics that are kinder to her, and maybe it's because I remember a fic where Anko got Kakashi's team because Anko was going to give a summoning demonstration at the Academy, and Team 7 assumed she was their sensei because why else would a Jonin be at the Academy? But a team of Genin with Flee On Sight orders is hilarious
Anko had so much potential as a character and was (unsurprisingly) underutilized in canon. Which is WILD considering how prevalent of an issue Orochimaru was. Like-- I’ve not actually read a fic that does this, but I’m sure they exist somewhere—the fact that Anko didn’t basically poach Sasuke from Kakashi as her apprentice is wild. They could have had the prickliest heart to hearts! They could have bonded about being betrayed by the older man in their life (ie, older brother and teacher)! They could met in the common ground of being infamous within the village that should have protected them but failed, but they will nonetheless protect that same village regardless!
Anyway, Anko as a solo character is rad as hell without needing to attach Sasuke to her arc. The fact that she became as powerful as she did even after her sensei betrayed then abandoned her, and its unlikely some other teacher wanted to take her on, so I imagine she had to essentially teach herself with the rest of the village watching her like some kind of ticking time bomb. And obviously there are some exceptions to that (ie, her friendship with Aoba and Ibiki and MAYBE Kurenai?) but not, I think, during the most critical window of time when she went from apprentice to the apparent next Hokage to abandoned student of the worst criminal Konoha has ever produced. [I kind of went into the politics of the fallout here on a wider clan scale, but not on an individual scale.]
Because the fall in prestige is one thing, but the fall in, like, career trajectory? Or, hm… because if you really think about it, with Konoha’s implied familial/teacher-to-student line of succession for Hokage, Anko is basically the equivalent of a disinherited royal. Maybe not crown princess per se, to continue the metaphor, but possibly within the top five “in line for the throne” kind of vibes.
She had the same standing and degree of distance from the position as Minato! Maybe even closer considering Jiraiya was kind of the fuck up of his generation and the Sandaime did favor Orochimaru even if the general public may have wanted Tsunade (who herself didn’t want the position)
Imagine a world with Hokage Anko!
And anyway, she is incredibly charismatic in a brash, aggressive way which I love in a character (hence the Four of a Kind team, although, to be honest, of that Four of a Kind team, Shikako is the least like the others personality wise but, in turn, the MOST Flee on Sight so…) That is why in my extremely, extremely slow WIP—Externality—that version of Tetsuki does eventually have Anko as a treasured and trusted senpai
Oh, Anko, I’m sorry you were not treated well in either Watsonian (diegetic) or Doylist (exegetic) interpretations. T_T

In the end, there was no hope.
The lands were ravished and most of the people were gone. Not even the animals seemed to be spared.
The goddess wanted her chakra back and she was determined to have it. The remaining few knew there was nothing left to do, but give in. But what are humans, but bodies filled with egos, determination, and desperation.
There were very few of them left.
Many of her friends had died before the goddess was even released. Neji, Tenten, Choji, Gai, Inoichi, Shikaku Tsunade, and Gaara… Friends and family lost to the initial war. It only got worse from there. Slowly, but surely, the rest of her chosen family started to disappear from her life. Stolen from her by a selfish and vindictive woman.
She had just lost Lee a few days ago as he fought off an army of white Zetsu so that the rest of them could escape. He told her he was okay with this death. It would allow them to live and he would be able to see his beloved team again.
Naruto sighed tiredly. She wished she could say she cried, but she had no more tears to give. Only a prayer that what her friend wanted, came true in the end.
But that was a few days ago.
Now, the only ones of her precious people that were left were Kakashi, Sakura, Sasuke, Shikamaru, Hinata, Kurama, Obito, and the reanimated body of her father. And she knew that, soon, she would probably lose them as well.
For now, they had made their great escape. With the help of a makeshift boat and some seals, they had made it to the waters of Wave Country and crossed the perilous, whirlpool filled waters into Uzushiogakure. The only thing that truly kept them safe was Hinata and Naruto’s affinities for water chakra and Naruto’s Uzumaki blood. She had gripped the edge of the ‘boat’ so tight that the wood bit into her palm and caused her to bleed. The waters seemed to calm a bit after getting a taste. It was then that most of them realized that the destruction of Uzushio had to have been either an inside job or something far more sinister.
They stepped off their boat and onto the beaches. And while the others went on ahead to scope out the ruined village for suitable shelter and food, Naruto and her father were left standing in the sand, the Jinchuriki trembling with rage. Minato laid a comforting hand on his daughter’s shoulder.
“No one could be bothered to come here and lay the dead to rest.” Uzushio had been destroyed. The village was left in ruins… The dead were left in the sand. When her precious Konohagakure had been destroyed, Naruto had risked her life to go back and lay who she could to rest in a funeral pyre. But Uzushio was Konoha’s sister village and no one had bothered, in all of the years, to make sure that their fellow shinobi and citizens had seen a proper burial. Just left them to the sands and sun.
Minato hung his head. “I’m sorry, Naruto… Kushina. If I had known the Sandaime hadn’t seen to it himself, I would’ve come here personally to have it done.” He felt like he had failed his wife and daughter… More than he already felt, anyway.
Naruto bent to kneel in the sand and carefully picked up the skull of what seemed to be a fallen Uzushio shinobi. She was quiet for a long while, just wondering about who the poor soul could have been before they died. Finally, she spoke up.
“I will collect the remains of the dead and lay them to rest in a pyre on the far side of the island. Please let the others know that I would like to be left alone until then.” She created a few clones that set out to work. But before the real her could start the task as well, she felt her father’s gentle hand on her cheek, turning her head to make her look at him.
“I will never leave you alone. Not again. We will do this together.” He placed their foreheads together for a brief moment before pulling away and moving to sift through the sand for bones to collect, creating a few clones himself.
They worked quietly throughout the day and well into the evening. The rest of their group were scarcely seen except for when they were handing off scrolls with bodies that they had found themselves. No words were exchanged. Just quick, mournful glances. Shikamaru always seemed to be able to find the real Naruto when he was handing over scrolls. He would always brush his fingertips against the backs of her hands before disappearing into the shadows again.
The two had gotten closer during the war. They had spilled their souls to each other, surprising themselves about their choice in confidante. Shikamaru had a more analytical mind, so he always thought he would end up breaking down to Kakashi, as he was someone who was logical and reminded him of his father some, and would be able to talk him through his troubles. And it was no secret, Naruto’s love for Sasuke. He was her best friend and her brother. It was more likely for her to turn to him with her woes. Or at least Sakura or Hinata.
But that’s not what happened. They chose each other. No matter how unintentional.
They were out hunting for possible food and scouting for white Zetsus when they were suddenly surrounded. Shikamaru had taken a hit and was trying to convince Naruto to just leave without him and she ran with him hanging off her shoulder. He told her that he would hold them off. She was their powerhouse. He knew that she and Kurama were important pieces to survival. He needed them to live. But Naruto thought the opposite. Shikamaru was their tactician. Even if she could not go on, she knew he could help the others through anything. To her, he was one of the most important people. So it enraged her to hear him speak of sacrificing himself.
She created a clone and was quick to hand off the dark haired shinobi, mumbling about a cave system she knew was not too far from their current location. Shikamaru started to argue, getting angry himself, but Naruto would hear none of it.
She turned to give the shadow user a scathing look. “We will discuss this later.” She said with a growl in her voice.
Shikamaru was surprised, but said nothing more. He just nodded his head and surrendered himself to being whisked away. It was only hours later, after his wounds had been cleaned and the clone was able to feed him, did Shikamaru get to see the real blonde again. She looked tired and singed, but unwounded. Her clone handed over what little food and drink was left before dismissing itself. She was able to eat it quickly and in silence before the man who sat across from her finally just snapped.
Words were exchanged between the two that were surely regretted later on, but words were also spoken that they both needed to hear and say. Shikamaru spoke of his regrets, fear, and feelings while Naruto spoke of her own fears, anger, and dwindling self-worth. They both spoke of the hopelessness that they felt.
They found solace in each other that night. And what started out as clumsy hands and desperation, slowly turned into lingering touches and the budding feelings of love. Which is how Naruto ended up curled into a ball with her face shoved into the dark haired shinobi’s chest with his arms wrapped securely around her as she slept after the funeral pyre.
They had found shelter in what used to be a library. It was one of the only buildings that didn’t seem to be in complete ruin. They had set up what few bedrolls they could find around a small fire that they had created in the center of the room, ventilated through a hole in the roof. Naruto and Shikamaru shared a bed roll while Kakashi and Obito also laid side by side. Sasuke looked surprisingly content laying between Sakura and Hinata as they rested their heads on his shoulders. Minato, being a reanimated corpse, had no need for sleep and took post against a shelf as he read through what scrolls were left in the room. They were resting quietly for a bit, but the silence was eventually broken.
“We cannot continue on as we have been. Resources are limited and Kaguya will find us again soon enough. There is nowhere to run on the island. Nowhere to truly hide. And even if we stood our ground and fought, even if we were able to defeat her, who is left in this ravaged land that we have to fight for besides each other?” Obito spoke in a quiet tone as he sat up to stare into the fire. No one seemed to have an answer for him, but everyone seemed to hold each other a little tighter.
After a moment of quiet, the room suddenly started to get hotter and Naruto squirmed a bit in Shikamaru’s hold as Kurama’s chakra spilled its way out of the seal, forming itself into a miniature version of the Kyuubi no Kitsune. He had done this many times in the past after Naruto unlocked his seal so that he could come out and speak to the others freely.
The little fox stretched and brushed his body against Naruto’s back before turning his attention to the older Uchiha.
“Ever since her escape from the moon, my siblings and I have been discussing the matter.” Kurama’s deep voice coming out of the little fox always sounded weird to the Konoha shinobi, but they were used to it by now. “She was powerful. Too powerful. The Sage feared her and made sure we all knew how truly terrible it would be for her to roam this world again. Long ago, before we were all captured and turned into weapons for you humans, we had come up with a plan. One that would work in theory, but would take a significant amount of chakra to pull off and would only be succeeded by one or two of us.” The fox pawed at the locks of Naruto’s golden hair that had grown to about the same length as Hinata’s as time had passed. Once he was sure he had every awakened shinobi’s attention, he settled down against Naruto’s back and huffed in contentment when Shikamaru buried his fingers into soft fur to pet it. “We contemplated the possibility of time travel. Of using space-time ninjutsu to stop the rabbit goddess from coming to be again. Chakra is easy to send away and we believed that it would work, but then there was the possibility that it wouldn’t. That one of us would make it back to the appropriate time and would be overwritten by our younger selves and that the task would have been for naught.” He sighed. “So, then, we contemplated sending a shinobi back. If they went back far enough, they would not be interfering with their own existence and would maybe be able to succeed. But then we were captured and our hatred for your kind increased and we gave up on this plan… Until now.” He lifted his head to look back at his host and her, lesser in his opinion, boyfriend. “We have been talking and we would do it for her. For Naruto.” He turned to look at Minato. “But we could never complete the how of what we were trying to accomplish. But we are here in Uzushio now. Where the world’s greatest Fuinjutsu users originated and made it their business to complete impossible tasks. And we just so happen to have the leading expert in space-time seals and ninjutsu here with us today. I’m sure, with the help of your daughter and any leftover scrolls here in the village, you can create a seal that can accomplish this feat. And I, and my siblings, will power it willingly. Even if there is only a portion of our power left, I’m sure it would be enough to send one and maybe two of you back a significant distance.”
There was a moment of silence before Obito let out an angry huff. “Thank you for that fantasy of a bedtime story, fox. I’m sure to sleep well knowing that tomorrow may as well be my last.”
Kurama growled. “As much of a fantasy as your dead sensei sitting in the same room as us now. As much of a fantasy as you becoming the Juubi Jinchuriki and surviving its extraction. As much as a fantasy as the malevolent goddess who roams the land with her plant minions, hoping to drain your chakra away from you.”
Minato let out a distressed laugh before standing abruptly and heading towards the door. “You all get some sleep. I’ll see what I can come up with.”
Obito glared at the fox. “You’re really having Sensei waste his time with this?”
Kakashi let out a sigh and pulled the blanket up and over the Uchiha’s head. “Just go to sleep, Obito. Besides, Sensei has all the time in the world.” And with that, nothing else was said for the rest of the night.
***
It was a couple of months before anything was actually discovered.
They trained and cleaned up the island, but tensions were high. It felt odd that Kaguya hadn’t come for them yet. Everyone was driving themselves crazy with the thought. Was she toying with them or did she really not know where they were?
Naruto found a few hidden, underground rooms that only opened up to her Uzumaki blood on a seal and was able to find a ton of scrolls and books on Fuinjutsu that she happily showed to her father. She created clones and the both of them studied to their heart’s content. Naruto even found scrolls on the barrier that protects Uzushio. Apparently, it harnesses sage energy to keep the whirlpools going and puts up a type of force field around the island that hides chakra. It was designed so that enemies would never know what type of forces lay in wait on the other side, which may explain their small reprieve. It was also made so that the only people who could get through were the families that made up the island and anyone whose blood was keyed in later.
Which meant there was definitely foul play when it came to the destruction of the island and its people. Naruto wondered if she even wanted to know who the betrayal lay with. Wondered if it would do her mental wellbeing any good. So she threw herself into her Fuinjutsu studies and helped her father search for any clue on what Kurama spoke of being viable.
They caught a lucky break when Naruto found another hidden room in the Uzukage’s tower. It held many secrets and told the history of Uzushio and each family that called the island home.
Naruto looked into the Uzumaki first, of course, and learned that the last Uzukage, Uzumaki Arashi, was forced to marry his distant cousin, the daughter to the daimyo, in a political marriage after his first wife and child died by poisoning. His second marriage is what resulted in the birth of Naruto’s mother, Uzumaki Kushina and her younger brother Uzumaki Ryu.
Minato was surprised. He never knew that Kushina had a brother. He actually wondered if the woman knew herself and if that’s why she never told him. But he and Naruto were even more surprised to learn that the woman who was Arashi’s wife before the political marriage. Was a woman who went by the family name Namikaze.
Namikaze was definitely not a family name for any of the islanders. In fact, Minato knew that his lineage lay in a village not too far from Kumo. Maybe the Uzukage had met a one off member of Minato’s family and gotten married. They put the thought aside with the promise to come back to it later.
They learned more about the Uzumaki clan being related to the Senju and Uchiha clan through the Otsutsuki clan and about how Uzushio and Fuinjutsu were created.
They caught a lucky break when the second family they looked into was the Hoshizora clan. Or more importantly, Hoshizora Sora, the creator of the offshoot Uzumaki clan who specialized in seals meant for transportation. In other words, a specialist in space-time ninjutsu and seals. Coded copies of his journals were found in the hidden room where Minato sat for hours to read through them while his daughter followed along at a slower pace. She was, by no means, stupid, but she was not as quick with learning and reading as her father. She also got tired, unlike the reanimated man. There were many nights where Shikamaru, Hinata, or Sasuke had come looking for them and found Naruto asleep with a book hanging loose in her hand and her head on her father’s lap. The man would slowly untangle his fingers from her golden hair and set the book aside so that her friends or boyfriend could take her to bed. He would give a quiet thank you before continuing his reading.
A few weeks later was the first night in a while that the group had Minato actually join them for dinner. They sat on the beach under the stars with the fire cooking the fresh fish they had managed to catch that day. The entire group glanced up and gave small smiles when they heard the barely there steps in the sand from the former Hokage. He sat down gracefully next to his daughter and bumped shoulders with her as she picked at the fire in front of them with a metal stick. Naruto huffed and leaned into her father’s side. Shikamaru, on her other side, didn’t seem to mind at all.
There were quiet murmurs as everyone talked amongst themselves until Minato finally decided to speak up.
“I’ve figured it out. A seal that can help us traverse through time. Just like Kurama said.” His voice was quiet, but it was heard by all of them. They group stopped their conversations and looked at the blond man over the fire. Even Kurama came out of his seal to settle himself into Naruto’s lap and listen. Minato sighed and ran his fingers through his thick hair. “It’s a seal that has only been used by the Hoshizora clan once and is confirmed to work. The downside is how much chakra it takes to attempt. The amount is so significant, that the one person who used the seal went into a coma and almost died. And even then, they only succeeded in sending someone back to the day before. The seal was then labeled a Kinjutsu and locked away to keep anyone else from attempting it.”
Kurama huffed. “Well I have a significantly more amount of chakra than you worms. And I’m ready to give it all up. My siblings have their portions that they’ve provided to Naruto as well. You will get to where you need to.” He blinked lazy eyes at the blond. “So…what are the rest of the conditions?”
The slight building of excitement in the group at the thought of the out-of-the-box plan possibly working simmered down quickly with Kurama’s question.
“You wouldn’t be here explaining this to us with such little enthusiasm if there wasn’t something else involved. So what is it?” Kurama grumbled.
Minato was quiet for a long moment as he stared into the fire. He knew his daughter had high morals. He knew what he was about to say might hurt her a bit. He felt like crap for even having to bring up the suggestion. The only thing that pulled him out of his spiraling thoughts was a hand reaching over to grab his own and intertwine their fingers together. He looked down at his cracked, pale skin, and compared it to the smooth, tanner hand of his daughter’s. He gave a squeeze back and steeled himself for the rest of this discussion.
“If we were sending someone like Kurama back, then we wouldn’t have to worry about this other condition. He is already only made up of chakra. There’s no body to be involved. We would just send him back and he would just assimilate with his past self and that would be the end of it. But as we’ve discussed, we can’t take this option because it would take the majority of his own chakra to send him back far enough to make a difference. By the time he got to that point, he wouldn’t have enough chakra to merge with himself and be the more dominant soul. He would just be absorbed and this would have all been for naught.” Minato started to fiddle around with Naruto’s fingers. “So, we would have to send one of us back. But the issue is that we are not made up of only chakra and a soul. Neither now or at any time in the past. We cannot just send ourselves back and hope for the best. The only way to do this right would be to send us back to our past bodies. And the only ones who could do that and actually make a difference are either me, Kakashi or Obito.” He let out a chuckle. “And I don’t know about the two of you, but I enjoyed the way I lived in the past. To have to take that life away from myself… To essentially take away my own life. I can’t do that. It may not have been the longest or the best, but it was fulfilling.
Naruto squeezed her father’s hand again and there was a moment of silence before Kakashi decided to speak up.
”I agree with you, Sensei, but is there any other option for us?” They all looked at the undead Hokage solemnly, but eagerly.
“There is one other option.” Minato said quietly. This is the part he knew his daughter would disagree with. He turned his head so that he could look at her in her blue eyes that were the exact same shade as his own. “Naru-chan, do you remember when we first started looking into the families that lived on the island before the fall? And how we found out that the Uzukage was married to a woman by the name of Namikaze before he married your grandmother?” With her confirming head nod he continued on. “If you remember, they had a child together, but both the mother and child died from some type of poison. If we send your soul and chakra back to right before the child dies, I’m sure your chakra would burn the poison away and you would be able to overtake the body.”
Naruto recoiled and let go of her father’s hand. “Overtake the body? Take over someone else’s life?”
“A life that was already lost. Don’t think too hard on this, dobe. It sounds like a solid plan.” Sasuke spoke up from seat across the fire. “You would be older than your parents then. Which means you would be in a time to stop the destruction of Uzushiogakure. You would be able to help stop the beginning of the Third Shinobi War. You would be able to keep your mother from having to be Kurama’s reluctant Jinchuriki. Don’t think of this as you taking someone’s life. If you need to, think of this as you being reincarnated as this person.”
Naruto wanted to argue. She really did. But she had nothing to say. It was all logical, even if she didn’t like it. She gave her friend a pout and crossed her arms over her chest. “I hate that when you decide to speak in more than undecipherable sounds, it’s to call me an idiot and be logical.” Sasuke rolled his eyes at the girl. Naruto decided to let it be. “So… The rest of this lies on me, huh? The idiot of the Leaf Village.”
Minato frowned and opened his mouth to disagree with her words, but Shikamaru beat him to it. The dark haired shinobi reached out and pulled at her hair with a stern tug.
“Don’t talk about yourself like that, Naruto. You are not an idiot. You’re strong, brave, loyal, an excellent tactician on the fly, and one of the smartest people I know. I can look at seals and know that it takes more than a little bit of intelligence to be able to learn the art and make it work. You’ve been learning with your father for less than a year and I’ve seen you do some amazing things with it. Imagine what you can accomplish growing up on an island full of people who know and teach the art. You’ll be a seal master in no time.” Shikamaru leaned forward to kiss her cheek, causing the blonde to blush. “I know you can do it.”
Minato watched the interaction with a fond smile on his face before clearing his throat and sitting up straight.
“And, Naru-chan, because of how much chakra we all have to spare, it wouldn’t be impossible to say that we wouldn’t be sending you back alone. We’d have enough chakra to send back another person to around the same time. The only problem would be figuring out where to place them.” He looked around at everyone else. “I know it’s highly improbable, but does anyone know of any deaths at a young age that would fit our needs?”
Naruto frowned, not likening the way it was worded, but looked around at her friends, hopeful.
Obito and Sasuke shook their heads. “There were, obviously, many deaths in the Uchiha clan, but I don’t know of any actual young deaths from the time we’re thinking about.” Obito mumbled.
Kakashi sighed and leaned into the older Uchiha. “The only death I knew about around that time was my mother. But she was older, so that won’t work.”
Sakura folded her arms over her chest. “My family have always been traveling merchants. There’s not much I would be able to do even if I knew of anyone who had a young child who died.”
Shikamaru had his hands sitting in his thinking position, a habit he couldn’t kick. “I think… I remember my father telling me the story of how I got my name. There was a Shikamaru before me. My grandfather’s younger brother. My father told me that the clan documented that he had been born on the night of the new moon and had died not too long after suddenly and unexpectedly. My grandfather had been devastated about losing his little brother and had named my father Shikaku in his memory. My father, in return, named me Shikamaru with permission from my grandfather.”
Sakura spoke up quickly. “Lady Tsunade used to tell me stories about how babies would sometimes be born with blocked chakra networks and would die suddenly due to it and no one knew what it was for a while. She actually told me that story because of Lee. She said it was a miracle that he lived to be the shinobi that he was.” A tear fell down the pink haired girl’s face that she swiped away very quickly as she continued to speak. “That is more than likely what caused the sudden death of your great uncle and sending your chakra and soul back would more than likely be the influx of chakra needed to unblock those chakra passages and allow for the body to live.” She gave Shikamaru a hopeful smile.
Shikamaru looked at the Hokage. “So we have another possible candidate.” He suddenly flinched, turning his gaze towards Hinata. “Unless you know of someone as well, Hinata?”
The lavender eyed woman had been quiet the entire conversation, deep in thought. She gave the shadow user a bright smile. “Even if I did know of someone, Shikamaru-kun, I would not say it now.” Everyone looked at the Hyuuga, confused. “This war has been tough. And we have all had many losses, but we have also found something here with each other that we’ve never thought possible.” She looked towards where Kakashi had his head rested on Obito’s shoulder and how Sakura held tight to a Leaf Village headband that was attached to a red cloth. Lee’s that he had gifted to her before his sacrifice. And then looked down at how Sasuke held tight to her own hand, probably not even realizing it completely. “Yes, we have all made new connections here. And you, Shikamaru-kun, have the most obvious one with Naru-chan.” The blonde and shadow user blushed. “And I can easily say that I would rather lay down my life here for the opportunity to send you two back together so that you can, one: save our world, and two: be with each other for the rest of your days, surrounded by the people you love and without worry. Please allow us to do this for you two.” Hinata bowed her head, stunning the young couple.
Kakashi gave his closed eyed smile from across the fire and bowed his head as well. “I couldn’t have said it better myself, Hinata-chan.” There were hums and nods of agreement from everyone else around the fire.
Minato smiled and gave a sudden clap. “Then it is decided! I will work on the seal and then, we will do what was thought to be impossible.” He stood and ruffled his daughter’s hair gently before making his way back towards the Uzukage tower.
Kurama huffed at the humans in his life and turned around to face Naruto, having been quiet the entire time. “You better make sure that I’m your Jinchuriki again, brat. I quite like how you treat me.” Naruto gave Kurama a sad smile that slowly transformed into a bright one as she reached her arms around the fox to give him a tight hug. “Don’t squeeze so tight, human.” He grumbled, but didn’t dare to move away.
***
It only took three days of sketches with Minato and Naruto going back and forth about the seal before they were able to paint the official seal on the floor of an intact sealing room in the tower.
Three days of the others meditating and trying their best to not waste any excess chakra. Three days of making peace with themselves and saying their goodbyes.
Naruto was, obviously, the one hit the hardest with the situation. She was about to lose the rest of her friends and be stranded in a time she knew nothing about. Alone until she could be reunited with Shikamaru again. When her father wasn’t bouncing Fuinjutsu concepts off her, she was spending some time with the others.
She had been forced to take lunch with Hinata and Sakura on the first day, listening to the girls talk and try to teach her small, quick things about medical ninjutsu, chakra control, and how to be a real lady and kunoichi. Things she had been neglected in learning when she was much younger.
That same night, Obito sat next to her at dinner and was adamant with talking to her about how she couldn’t become a stick in the mud like Kakashi used to be. The silver haired man had rolled his eyes from across the fire at that. He told her that even though her past hadn’t been the best, and he was mostly to blame for that, that he wished she would use this new life as a new opportunity to live the way she was supposed to the first time around. Naruto had just patted his head and force fed him some of the fish that was cooked for dinner to shut him up. Kakashi laughed outright at the Uchiha’s stunned expression.
Sasuke had woken her up early the next morning to go out to the beach and watch the sunrise on the other side of the island. And he had decided that he would teach her how to handle a sword while they were there. Naruto whined about how she wasn’t going to learn Kenjutsu in a morning, but her broody brother didn’t care. He made her create clones so that she could at least learn the katas. “I’ll have to learn this all over again, Sasuke. I’m not sure why you’re insisting on this.” Naruto had mumbled as the Uchiha corrected her leg positions.
“Because I hope, dobe, that the techniques will imprint themselves on your soul and your chakra. Because if it does, just a little, that’s just one step closer to you being able to protect yourself without me there.” the Uchiha said before stepping away to make her do the move again. Naruto wanted to mention how she had been without him for a while now, but she kept it to herself. If it made him feel better, she was not going to ruin it.
Once she was able to escape the impromptu lesson, she was with her father for the remainder of the day until Shikamaru came to pull her away and feed her dinner on the roof of a mostly intact building. Now, if their small dinner turned into a make out session as well, Naruto wasn’t complaining. But then soft and playful touches and kisses turned into bruising holds and desperation. Like most of their intimate moments. It often made Naruto wonder if they would have ended up together in a different life. If the war had never happened. If they weren’t some of the last few people left. Every one of their intimate moments felt like a last goodbye, but that was the life of a ninja. Maybe she was just overthinking it. Later, before they went back down to join the others, Naruto draped herself over Shikamaru’s body and ran her fingers through his soft hair as he stared up at the sky. “Shika, you know I won’t hold it against you if we get to the past and you didn’t want anything to do with me.” Naruto whispered, putting out all her insecurities in that one simple sentence. The shadow user stopped breathing for a moment before he let out a full bodied laugh, jostling the blonde and making her give an irritated huff.
“You troublesome woman.” Shikamaru wrapped his arms around her waist and rolled them so that he was pinning her to the roof with his body. “You won’t be getting rid of me so easily. We Nara may be lazy, but once we have something or someone, we keep them.” He leaned down to give her a kiss.”And I plan on keeping you, Naru. For the rest of my days.” The blonde blushed and gave her boyfriend a small smile before pulling him down to kiss her again. They never ended up back with the rest of the group that night.
Naruto would have spent her lunch with Shikamaru the next day, but Kakashi was quick to swoop in and take her away to a secluded spot in the woods not far from the tower. He whistled and sat behind her, brushing and braiding her hair. It was a habit that he had started with the girls not long after running for their lives from Kaguya. It had started with Naruto after her hair had grown long enough to start getting in the way while she was trying to fight. She was about to hack it all off one night, but Kakashi stopped her and made her sit patiently as he conjured up his memories on how he used to braid Kushina’s hair back when she was pregnant. Naruto had smiled at him and gave him a small hug, asking if he could do it again for her every once in a while. It eventually turned into him braiding Hinata and Sakura’s hair as well and he did it all happily.
Naruto sat quietly as she nibbled on some fish while Kakashi worked. When he was done, he rested his head on her shoulder so that she could see his eye smile. “All done, Naru-chan.” Naruto sighed and leaned back into the man that she had come to think of as her older brother. Their relationship was weird and strained at first as it seemed like the silver haired man wanted nothing to do with any of his students and then he started to focus on one. Naruto had resented him for a while, and after Sasuke had left, she downright hated him because Kakashi had all but disappeared from her life. But then she left with Jiraiya and when she came back, she was mostly indifferent about her old sensei, if not a little excited to see him, or anyone that she had known, really. He was, technically, still her sensei after all of that, but she slowly started to see him less as that and more of a weird older brother who didn’t know how to truly interact with other people. She had told him as much and he had huffed with a blush on his cheeks and demanded she call him Aniki, which she had refused for the longest time until after they lost a lot of their forces after the initial battle with Madara and then Kaguya during the war. They had been hiding in the mountains of lightning country and Kakashi had had a fight with Obito, so he was huddled close to Naruto as they tried their best to stay warm. Naruto had grumbled and hid her face in her knees as Kakashi had, essentially, draped his body over hers as she was kind of a furnace. “I love you. I really do, Kaka-aniki, but please don’t use me to hide from your boyfriend.” Kakashi had blushed and tried to make excuses as his sensei, Naruto’s father, had laughed from his seat not too far from the both of them. But then Kakashi had realized what Naruto had called him and he held her tighter then, trembling. Naruto ignored the tears that she could feel seeping into her shirt as the man hid his face against her back.
“Thank you, Aniki. Do you want the rest of the fish? I’m not very hungry.” Naruto asked, reaching up to tug at the silver haired man’s mask. Kakashi swatted at her hand and bumped his head against hers.
“I know you’re stressed out about everything that’s about to happen, Naruto, but please at least try and finish your food. You don’t want to make bad habits.” Kakashi let out a dramatic sigh and tossed himself back against the ground. “Geez, what are you going to do without your dutiful aniki in the past? You’ll starve or train yourself to death.”
Naruto rolled her eyes and slapped Kakashi’s leg. “Stop being so dramatic. Besides, I’ll have you again eventually.”
Kakashi let out an amused huff and sat back up. “But then you’ll be the oneechan. I won’t be able to big brother you.” He said with a pout. He tugged a little at her braid.
“From the stories Obito tells from when you were kids, I’m sure you’ll find a way.” She giggled when Kakashi pouted and threw himself back on the ground again while calling her mean.
Not too long after lunch, Naruto and her father had completed the seal. Naruto wanted to wait until the next day to try activating it, but the others, once they learned about it being complete, did not see the need to wait. They all joined the two blonds in the sealing room and Minato explained how it would all work. The seal essentially pulled chakra from any source that wasn’t the chakra or soul being transferred until it eventually drained it. Once all of that was complete, and the seal had built up enough energy to do what it was designed, it ripped the chakra and soul from the intended travelers and transplanted them to where they needed to be. Which means that Naruto and Shikamaru would have to concentrate on their own tasks of leading their energies exactly where they needed to go after they ended up in the correct time.
Minato explained that the seal would not hurt the others, but would more than likely put them to sleep before they died of chakra depletion. Naruto bit her lip and trembled as her father approached her and Shikamaru and drew seals on their foreheads that would help guide them and keep the seal from draining their chakra as well. Minato had seals painted on his hands as well so that he could keep the seal going until the very end.
There was no need for goodbyes in the moment either, as everyone had already made peace with what was about to happen. Naruto had as well, reluctantly. But that didn’t stop her from crying tears that she hadn’t in a while. Shikamaru turned to her and wiped them away before giving her a kiss and whispering that everything would turn out fine.
Right before Minato was about to activate the seal, Kurama released himself from Naruto’s seal and pulled as much chakra with him that he could compress into a slightly larger form without invading the entire room and without completely pulling it all from Naruto. “I’m counting on you to make yourself my Jinchuriki again, brat. Do not disappoint me.”
Naruto let out a choked laugh and bowed her head. Of course those would be Kurama’s parting words with her. “You got it, fuzz ball.” The Kyuubi huffed and they all turned to Minato to begin the seal. The man nodded and began a long sequence of hand signs.
”Remember, Naruto and Shikamaru, concentrate on your intended vessels and where your souls and chakra should migrate. Do not waver.” They both nodded, determined, and Minato quickly finished off the rest of the hand signs. “Fuin!”
Immediately, the others began to feel it. One by one, the seal drained the chakra from the remaining shinobi in the elemental nations. The more chakra they lost, the more the seal began to glow. They were all sitting down already, but Sakura was the first to wane and eventually fall over onto her side, asleep then gone, as she was the one with the least amount of chakra. Hinata was next. Naruto had to close her eyes tight to keep from seeing her family die. But she could still feel them leave her. Her body trembled so hard that Shikamaru had to wrap his arms around her and hold her close, whispering to her that everything would be okay.
Kakashi, as dense as his chakra was, was the next to falter. He reached out to take Obito’s hand before falling unconscious. The Uchiha took him into his arms and held him close as he and Sasuke followed the others into death not too long after.
Kurama’s chakra would take the longest to drain, but it was draining surprisingly fast. The fox shifted uncomfortably as he pulled more chakra from Naruto’s seal to compensate before there was almost none left to pull. He left that there so that his Jinchuriki didn’t die before the sealing was complete. Eventually, he became small enough so that he could curl up against Naruto and Shikamaru and let the girl bury her fingers and face into his warm fur. He let out an amused huff, but said nothing more. No words were needed right now.
When Kurama’s chakra was finally gone, Naruto was a sobbing mess. Shikamaru held her as tight as he could and told her it was time for her to concentrate. They didn’t have time for tears. Naruto slowly pulled herself together as the seal started to pull away at her father’s chakra.
Just then, off in the distance, the two blonds could feel the Uzushio sage shields break and then they felt her. Kaguya. She had finally found them.
Minato let out a loud and vindictive laugh as more Edo Tensei cracks began to form across his borrowed body as his chakra left him. It was too late for the goddess. By the time she arrived, the seal would be complete. He smiled and looked up at the two travelers.
”Good luck to you both. I love you so much.” He forcefully pushed his remaining chakra into the seal and his body crumbled apart.
Naruto and Shikamaru gripped each other tight as they could feel the seal pulling at them, ripping them apart. The last thing Naruto heard was the vicious scream of the rabbit goddess in the distance before everything went dark.
***
Light, colors, and sounds slowly came back to her. Everything felt odd as she tried to move around and realized that there was no actual body holding her together. She looked around and noticed that she was in a room where attendants rushed around and what looked like doctors tended to a pale woman with long, curly, golden hair who held tight to an equally as pale baby with red tufts of curls on its head. Both of their breathing was labored and they didn’t look like they would be alive much longer.
This, Naruto realized, was her vessel. She slowly floated down towards the child and the woman, probably its mother, opened her eyes and seemed to look right at her. A gasp escaped the woman and she used trembling arms to hold the baby up to Naruto.
“Please,” she whispered. “Please save my baby girl.”
The doctors sighed and tried to make her put the child down. “We have someone still working on it, Uzumaki-sama, but the poison is something new from Suna. It’s not anything we’ve seen before.” The doctor didn’t sound particularly sad, but he knew this was a lost cause. Their Uzukage would not be happy.
The woman shook her head and held the baby closer to Naruto. “Not you. The angel. Please save my baby.” The doctor thought that the woman was hallucinating and marked that down as a symptom of the poison, but Naruto knew the truth. The woman could see her and thought she was an angel. With pure determination, she forced her chakra and soul to take on a more human form. Naruto reached out her hands and covered the woman’s hands on the baby, giving a slight squeeze before she shifted them to gently stroke the baby’s head. Naruto could feel the seal that her father painted on her shift around until it settled itself on the baby.
This was it. She was about to take over this child’s life. She understood, realistically, that the child would not survive much longer without her intervention, but it still pained her to have to do this.
“Thank you.” The whisper startled Naruto out of her thoughts and she glanced at the woman as she started to feel her chakra being absorbed into the small body. “Thank you for saving her. My little Tsubaki will grow stronger than the rest. She has an angel on her side.” The woman’s face looked pained, but she was still smiling. She slowly lowered the baby back to her chest and started to hum a song. Color returned to baby Tsubaki’s skin as Naruto’s essence started to burn away at the poison that was ravaging the body just moments ago.
The doctor was stunned and called for aid as it looked like the child now had a fever when just a few seconds ago she was ice cold.
The door to the sick room slammed open and a man with long red hair ran into the room. He fell onto the bed next to the woman and reached out to touch her pale cheek. “Nikko! I came as fast as I could.” He looked over his wife before turning his attention to their baby. “No one explained anything to me. What happened to my wife and child?” He said with a growl, turning his attention to the doctor. Uzumaki Arashi, the Uzukage, was not a man to be trifled with. He had a reputation that made people tremble if they saw him in battle. He wasn’t just named after the storm. This man was a storm.
The doctor looked away, wondering where his help was. “It is poison, Uzukage-sama. Something from Suna that we’ve never seen before. There seems to be nothing we can do, but your child has started to develop a fever and your wife is having hallucinations. We have them marked down as more symptoms of the poison.”
Arashi snarled and stood. “If you are not going to do anything for my family, then what is the point of you?” The doctor flinched away, but Nikko lifted a weak hand to take her husband’s. And just that quickly, the storm faded and the man returned his attention to his love. As dangerous as a shinobi this man was in his daily life, he was always a gentle soul to those that he loved. Naruto, who was just barely finished with being assimilated into the child, was getting a bit of whiplash from the swinging emotions in the room.
“Arashi. I’m sorry that I have to leave you.” Nikko whispered as her husband came closer. The man tried to shush her, but she just shook her head and brought their baby closer to him. “You won’t be alone though. An angel has saved our Tsubaki. Raise her well. Raise her to be strong and brave.” She gave him a weak smile. “Raise her to be a warrior far more tenacious and powerful than any Namikaze before her.”
The Uzumaki’s hands trembled as he reached up to stroke his wife’s hair out of her face. “I promise, Nikko. Tsubaki will want for nothing and she will be the fiercest woman anyone will ever encounter. I promise.”
Naruto closed her eyes, giving the two their last moment together just as she was finally absorbed into the body of the baby. She opened her eyes to a white room with a small bundle laying on the floor not too far from her. She slowly approached and looked down to see a small baby girl with curly red hair and blue eyes just slightly darker than her own. She did not look well either. Silent cries came from the child and her face was scrunched up as if in pain. Naruto got down to her knees and reached out to lift the baby. When they physically touched, the sound of the cries hit Naruto like a slap to the face.
“Tsubaki,” she whispered. “I am so sorry, little one.” She rocked the baby gently in an attempt at comfort. It seemed to work as the cries started to quiet down and got softer. “I’m so sorry that this has happened to you.” She pulled the baby into a soft hug. “Rest now. Everything will be okay.”
On the island nation of Whirlpools, a baby opened ocean blue eyes to the world to see the blurry form of a red haired man leaning over her and crying. The baby let out a little gurgle to try and tell the man that everything would be okay. A gasp escaped the man and the baby felt large hands scoop her up and left her against a solid chest.
“Oh Tsubaki. Thank the gods. Nikko was right.” He nuzzled his cheek against hers. “Your mother was right. You were saved. I promise this will never happen again. Papa will keep you safe, okay?”
The baby, Tsubaki, just let out a little sigh and closed her eyes, too tired to do anything but sleep.
***
Not too far away, in the Land of Fire, a certain shadow user had significantly less time than his counterpart to come to peace with what was about to happen.
His chakra and soul took shape in a small room that was familiar, but foreign at the same time. A small medical room inside the Nara compound. A place he did not see often from before.
Inside the room a woman with dark brown hair was having a difficult time with coming to terms with what the doctor was trying to tell her.
Green glowing hands hovered over her youngest son. A precious life that she had only just brought into the world the day before. She was told that he didn’t have much longer to live.
”His chakra passages are blocked, my Lady. No matter what I try, I am only prolonging the inevitable.” The doctor said with much sadness in his voice.
The woman stood and glared at the man with tears in her eyes. “What use are you if you cannot save my son?” She asked with a hiss, forcing the doctor out of the room. She knew she wasn’t being completely fair, but her heart was breaking. She returned to her child’s side and whispered to him that he would be okay. That she would take care of him forever.
Shikamaru watched this and let out a small chuckle. Troublesome woman. He reached out and placed a hand on the baby’s head, wishing he could alleviate some of his grandmother’s pain, but he was more concerned about assimilating himself with his vessel in hopes that it would survive. He hoped that what Sakura said was true and that his chakra would force the body’s coils unblocked.
As soon as he laid his hand on the child, he could feel the seal transfer itself and he heard the woman let out a gasp. He glanced over and saw her looking right at him with tears in her eyes.
“Please don’t take my baby.” Shikamaru was confused at first, but if he thought about it he knew how this must look. If she would see him, she was more than likely seeing him as a wavering light. She had just heard that her baby was in a dire situation. He must look like an angel or a grim reaper, come to take a soul. Unfortunately, that was half true.
He reached out his hand to the woman who hesitated at first, but lifted her own to touch it, making a shiver run down her spine. She seemed to relax though, as if feeling something familiar. The Nara may be an underrated clan in the village, but there were things about them that not everyone knew. The clan were shadow users because they were born with shadows in their souls. The blessed children of Daikokuten, the god of great darkness. Their chakra was easily recognizable to any other Nara in the vicinity because of this. They used the shadows because they were born from the shadows. He didn’t understand the lore of his clan at first, thinking it was just a silly story, but he knows now. Has lived the lore for the remaining days of his previous life. Shikamaru’s soul and chakra, by now, were enriched in darkness.
His great grandmother recognized him for who he was. A shadow. A Nara.
The woman nodded her head, not knowing exactly what was going on, but knowing what must be done. Shikamaru nodded his head as well and turned his attention back to the baby, placing both hands on it and forcing his chakra and soul into the vessel, hoping that the intense influx of chakra would do what it needed to.
Shikamaru opened his eyes to darkness and found himself laying on his back, his fingers just barely brushing against something small and shaking. He turned his head and could make out the small, frail shape of his vessel. The original Shikamaru’s soul. He could hear little pained breaths as the soul reflected the body’s ailment.
He rolled himself over and brought his body closer so that he could wrap around the baby and touch his cheek with a gentle touch.
”I’m sorry that you didn’t have more time in this world, but I thank you for everything you’re giving me.” He placed a kiss on the baby’s head. “Rest now, Shikamaru.”
In the dark of the night in the middle of the Nara compound, a woman held her breath as she watched as color returned to her baby’s skin and a thick shadow settled into the corners of the room. Her hand trembled as she reached out to give him a gentle touch and let out a relieved sob when she felt a strong fluttering heartbeat under her fingers. She picked up her baby and held him to her chest as she cried and thanked the ancestors and gods for sending someone to save her son.
”You are so strong, my little fawn. My Shikamaru. And you have a family full of shadows who will protect you and make you stronger.” She whispered to him as she rocked the boy back and forth, smiling when he let out a little sigh. “Such a Nara already.”
She stood and moved to the door to introduce her little deer to his older brother and the rest of the clan.

what does kakashi think of mariko now???
HAHAHA oh isn't this the question!! and i think this is complex and somewhat contradictory, because kakashi really does love mariko, and (speaking specifically pre- ch 17) has admired her fortitude, her grit and determination. he sympathizes with her and everything she's been through, believes in her good heart, and he wants her to do well and be happy and all that. he was really proud of her! pre-ch 17, he basically thought the sun shone out of her ass. they got really close!
i think the hardest part for him is that now with everything she's done, he knows there's no going back. his cute little apprentice isn't coming home, except maybe in a body scroll. it's either victory or death for her, and victory includes a life on the run or at least outside of fire country, bc you can maybe walk back the assassination but not domestic terrorism. and for as much as he abhors her actions (he is a very loyal shinobi), he understands her motivations just as much, and can't disagree as such. after all, that's his nindou, yeah? better to break the rules and stand by your friends?
so i think he feels a lot of guilt for not noticing that she'd been planning this all along--it's probably fairly obvious in retrospect that she'd been doing that. i think he feels inadequate and guilty that he, for whatever reason, wasn't good enough or trustworthy enough for her to go to him for help. and rn her actions are forcing him to really grapple w his ideology as a ninja bc the beliefs she espouses are his beliefs, but taken to the extreme.
kakashi does think that the village system will use its ninja up and spit them out like they're inhuman tools, and he knows that his fellow ninja are two-faced. (his dad is a traitor for saving his team, but kakashi gets called friend-killer even when his mission technically succeeds? besides it not being his fault.) he's decided that care for his comrades is his highest good acc to his nindou, but he still follows village oversight. mariko's actions are so extreme that it's a straight 'one or the other' scenario. she's fairly clearly outlined all the hypocrisy she's witnessed and said "no thanks." so now he's wondering if she deserves censure or if he's just a coward.
he's got a bit of a bye on deciding rn bc he has tsunade's faith in his loyalty, and permission to let mariko go ham on akatsuki. he really doesn't want to hurt her! but she killed ppl when she blew up the village, so uh 😬. once her utility to konoha's goals runs out, he's in a pickle.
i think he's not at all sure how to progress from here. he wants things to go back to how they were, but like i mentioned above, he knows that's futile. the blow to his reputation, how her actions reflect on him--i doubt he'd give a single fuck how other ppl see him, bc again, he knows how fickle popular opinion is. but he loves team7 and loves his apprentice, and he wants there to be a way out. he doesn't see it yet.

I have this kakagai prompt where everyone speculates about Kakashi and Gai, but no one knows they are actually married, except for Tsunade (because she had access to all files when she became Hokage) the administration chunin that processed the marriage documentation…and Lee.
He figured it out at 12 and it was confirmed by Gai himself when Lee asked him. Later, Kakashi also confirmed it and that was it.
So years later, when some powerful nobleman comes to Konoha, ready to negotiate an arranged marriage with the Rokudaime to either his son or daughter, Lee is very confused when everyone goes into shock after he kindly reminds the nobleman that an arranged marriage will not be posible because Kakashi-sama ( “Please drop the ‘lord’ part, Lee”) is already married to Gai-sensei because, well...wasn't that common knowledge?

Here's something sad!
Gai dies. And not only does he die, but he does so protecting Kakashi.
How does Kakashi proceed.
Tumblr media
I’m joking i’m joking XD
Ok actually, sort of wrote this so i can’t even judge you. I’m gonna go sit in my corner like a bad writer.
How does Kakashi proceed? Well first he has a panic attack in the middle of no where while holding his best friends dead body.
If there are still living enemies around him, they will not be living very long. Thing how Obito lost his shit at Rin’s death, except Kakashi’s using a whole lot of lightning
Once the enemies are dead and he’s safe, then he breaks down.
Complete shut down. Man is not moving for hours. More likely that someone finds him than him actively moving on his own. He’s too busy clutching Gai’s body against his chest, with his face buried in Gai’s body as tears run down his face.
Man is broken
He shattered
If he makes it back to Konoha his expression is dead. Kotetsu and Izumo see him and they know without having to ask that Gai is dead.
He tries really hard to put on a string face and act like he’s not breaking down on the inside, but it’s not working out for him at all.
Seriously, Tsunade (or Hiruzen) try to give him a mission just a few days after Gai’s funeral and Kakashi doesn’t even acknowledge them. He’s suffering alone in his head going over that day over and over again trying to figure out what he could have changed
Finding a way to blame himself for Gai’s death, just as he does with everyone else.

could I request itachi,kakashi,hashirama,neji,obito, madara,naruto,tsunade,minato, with a darling who wears revealing clothing?ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Legit found out just today that Kakegurui Twin wil air this year❣️
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, delusions, paranoia, stalking, manipulation, protective behavior, abduction, threats
S/o wears revealing clothes
Madara Uchiha
Tumblr media
🌑I’d give the advice to not do it for the very simple reason that Madara is possessive, the borderline of territorial even. Everything about his s/o belongs solely to him, their body naturally included. We’re also talking about an older area where traditional clothes were very common so alongside with his possessive side it’d probably not go too well down with the clan to have you walking around with those clothes. The elder especially seem to make a fuss about it, order you to wear proper clothing like kimonos with the clan symbol on it. Back to Madara though.
🌑He probably won’t really let you leave for too long with such clothes because he always tags along only to throw death glares at everyone who checks you out. Frankly spoken, he is more annoyed than he is jealous whenever you catch eyes and it won’t take incredibly long for him to boil over and drag his darling back. He leaves them with the choice of either wearing something that covers their body more or to just stay inside. Madara loves it when his darling shows their body, but only when he knows that he’s the only one that can see you.
Hashirama Senju
Tumblr media
🌳Once again we find ourselves in an era of strict traditions and so his clan properly tries to push Hashirama’s darling into wearing fitting clothes for their time. Similar to Madara, Hashi’s s/o has a bit of a status due to their partner, who is none other than the Hokage. Hashirama himself, even if shy whenever faced with your outfits, tries to have a more open-minded outlook. He puts your comfort really high, as long as you’re happy he is too. So he goes against his clans wishes and instead lets you wear what you like to wear. He has a limit though where he puts his foot down.
🌳Sometimes genuinely can’t look at you since he feels like he’d be disrespectful by staring. Less possessive unless someone is very obviously checking you out for a long time. He’s more protective, worried that you’ll suffer from lower self-consciousness if people just look at you and your body in disgust or their stares make you feel insecure. Tends to get quicker protective and paranoid than you, shielding you when the glances thrown in your direction become too much for him. He puts his Hokage robe over you whenever he feels anxious in your place.
Tsunade Senju
Tumblr media
🐌Traditional clothes aren’t that big of a problem for her anymore, except of still strictly traditional clans like the Hyuga. There is no real denial that Tsunade clearly hesitates a bit whenever she sees your outfits. Ninja in her village tend to wear similar outfits but since you are her beloved, her reaction differs a bit. Tsunade is iffy, adores her darling though so she can be convinced with a bit sweet talking. Similar to her grandfather, there is a certain limit on how much skin you can show and she will very clearly stop you from leaving the place unless you wear something less revealing.
🐌Her biggest worry is that you’ll be called out for your outfits and get weird looks. She herself experiences lecherous stares quite often, fears that you’ll be made a target because of your choice of clothes. It isn’t to the point where she grows overbearing but she does seem to ask you often if there have been any accidents. Don’t let her hear from such an event though because she will come for that person and lecture them. It’s even more scary when she’s there to witness it in person and yanks the person away by their collar with a very scary and pissed look on her face.
Minato Namikaze
Tumblr media
⚡️He is a open-minded sweetheart so he will allow it for his darling to walk around with their choice of outfits. Minato has established some rules though with you since there is only that much he thinks of as appropriate and you’ll find him turning a bit more strict if you want to leave with something too revealing. He doesn’t accept arguments when he is set on being a tad bit more controlling. The quite common worries of you either being body-shamed or catcalled also comes to his mind, luckily Kushina is often your companion. She’ll lecture someone properly.
⚡️He can’t deny that he feels a tad bit jealous though when you get positive feedback and attention in public. He’s happy of course since you are gorgeous but can’t deny the ever so slight poke of jealousy. He usually knows that his position ensures that no one will try to court you yet he resorts to clinging a bit more to you in situations where you get compliments for your choice of clothes or for looking pretty. On the other hand he will give everyone who said something rude a very stern glare and the demand for an apology.
Kakashi Hatake
Tumblr media
📖Way too protective and way too possessive to let his darling leave the house with revealing clothes. Kakashi is quite restrictive when it comes to such things, isn’t a fan of the thought of his s/o walking around in clothes that show too much of their body. Some of those outfits are absolutely flabbergasting as clearly shown by his slightly widened eyes for a friction of a second. Ushers you instantly back to choose something less revealing. He’s quite stubborn so it’s about impossible to talk with him and just as difficult to sneak past him. He at least seems to be amused.
📖Threatens to throw your outfits away and force you to only wear his clothes if you continue to try to go under people with your clothes. It’s hard to figure out whether or not this is a lie from him. Undeniably Kakashi has certain favorite outfits but just like with Madara, he’s only really fine with you wearing those when it’s just the two of you. It’s probably better to keep those outfits for only him because if you do manage to wear somewhat revealing clothes, Kakashi is much more touchy and possessive with this silent warning in his eyes. Get used to him getting lost in his fantasies.
Obito Uchiha
Tumblr media
🔥He is extremely jealous and simultaneously paranoid to have his s/o walking around with their clothes and get the occasional glance and whisper behind their back. He hates the attention you get and despises everyone who has to say something against you. Luckily that problem is solved once he kidnaps you. He probably wouldn’t really see the need to forbid you to continue wear your outfits but he’ll just have a hard time looking properly at you. Funny how bashful he tends to turn, averting his gaze only to take peeks every now and then.
🔥Extremely touchy as he is already, he seems to turn slightly worse now with your clothes. His hands are constantly glued to you and whenever he can, he wants to hold you with his hands traveling around. He’d probably even be the type to get you actively new outfits to doll you up a bit. Obito knows that he’s the only one able to see you so why shouldn’t he take a bit advantage? You love your outfits as well. Be prepared for his gaze to follow you after his initial shyness everywhere and just like his friend, Obito gets lost in his own dreams as well.
Itachi Uchiha
Tumblr media
🍡Itachi has slight troubles to adjust to your fashion at first since he was raised by a more traditional clan himself. He can get used to it though unless it doesn’t border for him the borderline of inappropriate. Especially after you’ve been abducted by him, he sees no need to take your clothes away from you. You’re now alone with him and partially his guilty mind speaks to him to let you continue at least one thing you’ve always liked. You can’t keep proper conversations though if your outfits are too much for him since he will always look elsewhere.
🍡You might even see a very slight tingle of pink on his cheeks. Itachi is rather honest so he will tell you when an outfit makes him personally uncomfortable or not since he doesn’t want to be disrespectful by staring somewhere else on your body. The Uchiha finds himself keeping his thoughts free from a dirty mind he tends to have sometimes. He’s embarrassed and ashamed whenever he catches himself in the act and tries to stop himself. Itachi still would want his darling to have a set of rather normal clothes as well for rainy days and colder months.
Neji Hyuga
Tumblr media
🕊With the Hyuga clan involved, I do see some troubles since they’re known as a traditional clan who abides strictly by rules. Clothes are included and since Neji was raised with that sort of mindset, he struggles internally with darling’s choice of clothes. He doesn’t find it quite appropriate even if he does know that other people walk around in similar pieces of clothes. The Hyuga finds himself troubled with the thought of you being potentially catcalled or made fun of. You should just stay with him the Hyuga compound where you’re safe.
🕊Known for his composure, even Neji struggles with the way some people look at you and usually he returns the favor by shooting back a scary glare. He attempts to coax you into wearing more traditional clothes when in the campus as well and since he is quite a sweet talker, he’ll probably be able to convince his s/o. As someone whipped for you, you’ll be able to play the same card on him and convince him with a little begging to let you continue with your fashion. Be prepared for him to get you back to the estate as soon as he hears someone making a unnecessary comment.
Naruto Uzumaki
Tumblr media
🍜He’s probably constantly choking on his ramen whenever he catches a glimpse of his darling. He’s friends with people like Ino who show more skin as well but it’s a completely different story with his s/o. He’s a person driven by jealousy so he already gets uncomfortable with the mere thought of possible attention you could get by wearing such revealing outfits. It’s not that hard to convince him at first but Naruto is just as fast to turn paranoid and jealous when he starts feeling like everyone is checking you out. Eventually his string will snap.
🍜Chances are that he’ll yell at someone out of jealousy, coupled with his clingy behavior. He’s gawking at you himself here and there, turns red upon looking at your clothes. He’s protective though so with certain outfits he won’t let you go outside, instead clinging onto you and begging you to change. As someone with a history of perverted teachers such as Kakashi and Jiraiya, it’s no wonder that he sometimes has his dirty moments as well. He just shouldn’t let Sakura catch him in the act since she’ll scold him properly.

Want to see something I'm kind of working on?
The soft thump of a book sliding into place on the bookshelf was the only sound in the quiet office above the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and while there were a plethora of charms that could ease the burden of unpacking all of his boxes, Kakashi didn’t mind a bit of manual labor. Doing something as mundane as organizing his vast collection of books—both academic and personal selections—took his mind off of how utterly bizarre it was to be back here.
Never in a million years did he ever think he’d be back in this classroom, in this castle. Not that he hated his time at Hogwarts. Quite the opposite, actually.
He’d excelled at most subjects with the exception of Ancient Runes but while he hadn’t necessarily tried to surpass the standards, he hadn’t done bad by any means. What was the point when he knew, from the moment he received his letter on his eleventh birthday, exactly what he would be working toward. Everything, friends, girls, having fun, fell by the wayside while he had poured himself into his studies and by the time he was seventeen, graduating a year early, it had paid off.
The youngest Hogwarts graduate to be made an auror; a title that he’d humbly accepted and gladly passed on when the eldest Uchiha brother had accomplished becoming the youngest auror at sixteen.
Of course, by the time he had passed the title on, he’d changed quite a lot. Watching cherished friends and loved ones die often did that to even the most strongest willed people.
Teaching wasn’t a profession Kakashi ever considered for himself and if he’d been told at seventeen years old that not only had he seriously considered the offer given to him by Headmistress Senju last month but that he’d accept, he might have laughed at the thought. He certainly wouldn’t have entertained the idea for longer than a few seconds. But, if he was being honest with himself, he wanted the change.
Needed it, even.
He loved his job, loved who it had molded him into, yet he couldn’t deny that he felt…older than he actually was. Were thirty-two-year-olds supposed to have such a bad back? Being blasted with a Knockback Jinx several dozen times in the past few years hadn’t done him any favors.
As he managed to wedge the last book onto the shelf, barely making it fit into the cramped space, Kakashi stood to his full height and only winced once from the pop of the bones in his lower back. He considered it a victory and turned to toss the empty box out of the open door where a small pile had been made at the bottom of the stairs.
The sight of a familiar figure sweeping into the classroom, their cream colored cloak swirling behind them, pulled a small smile to his lips hidden behind the strip of fabric covering his face and he tossed the box in the air. As it arced over the rail, he pointed his wand at the corner and guided it down to the pile where it set down gently and didn’t tumble over the floor like the others.
Tsunade crossed her arms over her chest, pressing the stylish grey suit across her ample chest, and tipped her chin to look up at him as she reached the bottom of the curved staircase. “Well, well, well,” she said, the faint trace of a smile playing at her lips. “Hatake Kakashi returns to Hogwarts.”
“So it would seem,” he held a hand out and shrugged, stepped back as she began to climb. “To what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from the headmistress? Coming to sack me already?”
The smile on her face twisted into a playful scowl as she passed him and she lightly smacked the back of her hand into his chest. “And lose the only qualified Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this castle has had in twenty years? Don’t be a fool.”
“You flatter me. Professor Hiruzen was a decent professor.”
Kakashi watched the corner of her cloak swirl through the motes of dust hovering in the warm beam of sunlight streaming through the window, scattering them as she dropped into the chair before his desk. “Maybe in his prime,” she sighed. “But by the time you were in his class, he’d gone…a bit soft.”
“Didn’t seem like it from the front row of his class. I think I still have a few scars from that last lesson.” Lifting a hand, he rubbed the back of his neck where he could feel a slight ridge cutting through the hair just behind his left ear. A stray Protego had hit him in the chest down in the classroom nearly fourteen years ago, sending him flying back into the corner of the desk. He’d been back on his feet, firing off his own Stupefy into a surprised Obito who hadn’t been expecting his own spell to hit, let alone Kakashi’s counter move.
Needless to say, he’d been stunned, nearly knocked unconscious by the blast of the spell in his face, and Kakashi had been smug about it.
The memory swells in his mind and for a moment, just a brief two beats of his heart, he almost smiles at the thought of it. For a moment, he could almost believe he was back there again, seventeen years old and facing down the insufferable twat who would become his best friend…but the moment soured, twisted into pain and regret, as soon as another took its place.
Obito’s face staring up from the cold dirt…eyes blank and lifeless.
“How are you settling in?” Tsunade’s voice cut through his momentary misery but thankfully by now, Kakashi was a master at pushing it back under the surface. He crossed the room and took a seat in the only other chair. The rickety, wooden piece was probably as old as the castle and as he sat down and leaned back, the hinges beneath him creaked in protest. He ignored it and crossed his arms over his chest, glancing around at the array of books and boxes spread around him.
“I doubt I’ll be finished unpacking before classes start tomorrow.” A terrifying realization, one that sent a jolt of anxiety through his chest. Tomorrow…Tomorrow, he would no longer be Hatake Kakashi, second youngest Hogwarts graduate to become an auror. He would be Professor Hatake. The anxiety twisting through his chest dropped to his stomach and turned to stone. “Hopefully, I can finish before January.”
The Headmisstress nodded and crossed one leg over the other as she reached into the front panel of her suit. Kakashi watched as she plucked out a silver flask from within and almost scoffed. Of course she had charmed pockets in her clothing to store away her precious liquor.
“It doesnt give me much confidence for the year if we’re already drinking,” he laughed, though the scowl on her face that wasn’t quite as playful as the one earlier, almost shut him up entirely. With a flick of her wand, several items packed away in a box in the corner of the office clinked together before the flaps burst open. A pair of coffee mugs that he had almost forgotten he’d packed zipped over to the desk and set themselves down in front of her and Kakashi watched as she tipped the flask and poured an equal share of its contents into them.
“Sometimes,” Tsunade started quietly, gripping one cup around the rim before she slid it toward him. “Drinking is the only thing that gets me through the day. But don’t let that deter you.”
A bit too late for that, Kakashi mused to himself as he lifted the cup. He didn’t even have to pull his mask down for the fumes to burn his nostrils. Firewhisky, and at one in the afternoon too. He definitely wouldn’t be finished packing at this rate. Pulling the mask below his chin, he took a sip and winced. Thankfully, the sting of it hadn’t made him gag, but he was close.
Tsunade, however, sipped it like it was water before setting the cup down and lifting her amber gaze to him. “Has there been any news?”
She didn’t elaborate, but didn’t need to. Kakashi was well aware of her concerns, as it was the concern of the entire Ministry at the moment. He shook his head and lowered his own cup to the arm of his chair, keeping his fingers gripped around it. “Not since May. We lost sight of them outside a small, muggle fishing village like they’d vanished into thin air. Didn’t leave so much as a hair behind.”
For a moment, she was quiet and he could see her cycling through every bit of information he’d given her when they spoke last week. Which wasn’t much, unfortunately. “I suppose no news is good news.”
“Not when it comes to dark wizards. It usually means they’re lying low and plotting something particularly nasty.”
“Which is why I’m glad that you’re here.” She emphasized her words by pressing a finger tipped with a manicured, red nail, onto the arm of her chair. “Not just because I trust you’ll turn these students into what the Ministry needs them to be, but in case that something nasty happens close to Hogwarts.”
Kakashi didn’t respond, letting her words sink in. He appreciated her confidence in his abilities to not only protect the students of Hogwarts but to mold them into future aurors. She trusted him, and wasn’t the first authority figure in his life to do so, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on why he felt more…sentimental when it was coming from the Headmistress. Perhaps it was because she was one of the most powerful witches he’d ever known about putting her trust in him. Then again, it could very well be the nostalgia that these old walls invoked in him after only a day of being within them once more.
Either way, he cleared his throat and lifted the cup back to his lips. He took a sip—albeit, a small one—and nodded. “Yes, well, I’ll try not to scare too many students away.”
“That’s a reason to toast if I’ve ever heard one.” She scooped her cup up from the edge of the table and raised it into the air, bowing her head for a moment before she brought the cup closer to her lips. “To an interesting new year.”
Kakashi mimicked her, lifting his mug up a bit before bringing it to his lips. Just as the ceramic brushed across his mouth, he mumbled into the cup. “Hopefully, not too interesting.”

Alpha/Alpha 1
Inspired by Speak No Evil by Exonerin
TW: omegaverse, mental health
Iruka did his best not to look up and keep both eyes on the twenty-ish kids throwing sharp objects around him. It was harder than usual though as he couldn’t help but wonder why Tsunade was in such a bad mood and who the hell was growling and using their alpha voice while talking to the Hokage of all people. They were either dumb or crazy or both.
Unfortunately, Iruka found out soon enough.
There was a loud crash coming from the Hokage’s office and then multiple people came out from the windows and landed in the middle of Iruka’s students.
He recognized most of them easily enough. They were all jounins. The usual gang including Kurenaï, Asuma, Guy, Izumo, Kotetsu, and even Genma. But the one who caught Iruka’s attention was no other than Kakashi.
Iruka hadn’t seen him in a while. Probably since Naruto left with Jiraya-Sama.
He had wondered what the man had been up to since all his students had found new senseis and the answer clearly was: nothing good.
Kakashi looked exhausted and bloodied. His eyes — both of them! — were unfocused, and his posture was way too aggressive for an adult facing Iruka’s six-year-olds.
“Kakashi,” Asuma said.
He was tense. They all were. And that was when Iruka realized this wasn’t some crazy jounins stupid game. Kakashi truly was out of it… and he had his sharingan looking at the pre-genins.
“My —” Guy started then seemed to think better of it and his expression grew horrifyingly serious. “Kakashi, you’re scaring the children.”
Iruka’s children. Who were all holding kunai and shuriken and probably all looked like threats despite the fact they definitely were not. At least not to Sharingan no Kakashi.
Kakashi’s eyes narrowed and many weapons fell to the ground as tears started to run down the pre-genins’ faces. Iruka was trying to come up with the fastest and smartest way to get them all out of harm’s way. And he was failing.
“Kakashi, you need to calm the fuck down,” Asuma growled.
Literally. Using his alpha voice and getting surprised hiccups from the children.
Kakashi on the other hand only growled right back and took a step toward Asuma, and more importantly, toward Iruka’s students. He went as far as to pick up a kunai from his belt when some of them failed to move quickly enough, and that broke Iruka’s restraint — and survival instinct.
“Enough,” Iruka said.
Or growled, he wasn’t sure. What he knew was that he had just used his alpha voice on probably the strongest shinobi Konoha had birthed since the Sanins, and considering said shinobi and alpha had gone batshit crazy, it couldn’t possibly end well for him.
Except Kakashi froze.
The ongoing growl coming from behind his mask suddenly died and he blinked at Iruka, eyes wide. For a moment, Iruka wondered if Kakashi felt so offended by Iruka’s order it had actually broken the mind state he had been in but then the second ticked by and he still wasn’t moving. He still was looking at Iruka like… Like he was waiting for him to tell him what to do.
That couldn’t be right.
“Iruka,” Kurenaï said.
But he didn’t dare to break eye contact with Kakashi. Even if he could feel the jounins’ gazes on him. All of them.
Iruka took a deep breath before his next move.
“Drop the weapon,” he ordered.
And Kakashi did, his fingers uncurling immediately. He still looked wild but more like a deer-caught-in-headlights kind of wild.
“The children are going to leave, you are not going to move, am I clear?”
Iruka wasn’t sure if he was still using his alpha voice or just his teacher’ voice but still, Kakashi nodded slowly. Obediently. It made no sense. They were both alphas. And also Iruka knew he was better than most people thought he was, he was honest with himself and knew he wasn’t Kakashi’s level. Far from it. The jounin could have killed him a hundred times by now. Should have too considering his mental state.

Loving how your audience is pimping Kakashi out to master or student 🤣 (Only one is on their hands and knees though 👀). 2023 is gonna be busy for him!
Quick question: if Kakashi and Tsunade are FWB (with romantic undertones?), then what dynamic does Kakashi/Sakura have?
Ohh Kakashi/Sskura have specific place in my heart so this will be long.
First of all, I think they have totally different dynamics than Kakashi and Tsunade. If we're tlking about their relationship in canon, I think they get together when Sakura gets older. She goes through unsuccessful relationship with Sasuke (in my head without ever marrying and having a kid). It's very painful, so Sakura tries to hide away from the pain in work. She works in the hospital day and night, and ofc it doesn't do anything good, except for making her stronger and colder. Kakashi is also a workaholic that goes through his share of pain accepting what happened to Obito, Maito Gai etc. This way Sakura and Kakashi have similar experiences - alone, broken but still living - and are perfect (and mature enough) to comfort each other.
Kakashi probably understood his feelings way before Sakura did. He promised himself not to act on it but one evening when they met ("accidentally") on their way home late at night Kakashi just gave up and went all in. Sakura was feeling something as well, but before that couldn't define what exactly.
They are very loyal to each other, but don't mind to explore their sexual interests (e.g. having consentual threesomes). Oh, and they like to tease each other. A lot. Having a good laugh during sex :3
I have sooo many headcanons and different scenarious and AUs (I even wrote few fanfics at some point but I suck at it) so I could talk and talk and talk..
