#welcome to nightvale correct quotes
Text
We here at Night Vale Community Radio need to offer the following correction.
In a previous broadcast, we described the world as “real.”
We indicated, using our voice, that it was made up of many real objects and entities, and we gave descriptions of these disparate parts.
We even went so far as to ascribe action and agency to some of these entities.
But, as we all know, nothing can be fully understood to be real.
Any description of the world we give is simply the world we experience
which is to say
a narrative force onto whatever horror or void lies behind the scrim of our perception.
We at the station offer our deepest, most humble apologies for the previous, erroneous report.
We affirm once again that nothing is real, including this correction, and least of all your experience of hearing it.
This has been corrections.

Bughead Appreciation Week - Day One: Fandom Love Day
While this last season was airing, a friend who is only tangentially interested in Riverdale asked me to let her know when there were episodes (or, as it turned out to be, parts of episodes) worth watching. The criteria for ‘worth watching’ was simple enough—good Bughead moments. There really wasn’t much in the way of quality show content to offer her this season, but there were a few moments.
After 5x17, I started the conversation with “Last night’s episode of Bughead….” When I corrected my mistake, she responded with “No, I like what you call the show better.”
And, yes, I had to agree. Bughead is why I watch the show. It’s why I keep coming back, in hopes that the relationship developing over the first four seasons will return. But, while the show continually disappoints, the Bughead fandom hasn’t.
Being new to the fandom, there is an abundance of riches in which to indulge. I’ve had many more hours of enjoyment delving into the amazing fanworks than I ever had of watching the show. Because my record keeping is abysmal and I have years of ficfiction I’ve delved into over the past seven months, there’s no way I can mention all the writers and artists and fan creators that I have helped cement my enjoyment as a Bughead fan.
Here are a few shoutouts to those who have been part of my journey and have made it worth continuing…
@mieteve-minijoma (ao3) — We met in another fandom and when I finally took the plunge into Riverdale, Bina listened to me ramble about the show. She is an awesome, encouraging friend. Thanks for being there as I started this crazy journey. She is also an amazing writer. I love her Fairytale of New York series.
@50shades-of-bughead / @decydoodles (ao3) — Decy has created a myriad of worlds featuring Bughead, each of which pulls me deeper into loving Bughead. She not only has an amazing talent as an artist, but as a storyteller as well. Even when the story is a drawing and a few paragraphs, you know that there’s a whole world there to explore. Her attention to detail is spectacular. I love looking at her drawings and finding those details which add so much depth to the stories she’s telling.  Decy is also incredibly encouraging, kind, and generous. Check out her art on both her Tumblrs. Her SoS stories are absolutely spellbinding and has introduced Pen (eeiii!) to the world. Also, definitely give Armageddon a read!
Podfics - I’ve always been a fan of audio books, audio dramas, and other forms of audio storytelling. I love being able to listen to a story while my hands are busy crafting or cooking, etc. So, I was absolutely delighted when I came across these two lovely individuals who made Bughead podfics. Check out the collection of podfics by Mo1347 (I wasn’t able to find a Tumblr for Mo) and Hufflepuff Betty ( @protectorofthesmoll ).
For an added podfic bonus, check out HufflepuffBetty’s Welcome to Riverdale. It’s a clever fic which gives us a Nightvale AU version of Riverdale. (It works!) And, I can tell already miles better than anything we’ll see in Rivervale.
@bughead-in-the-comics - Before coming to Riverdale and subsequently Bughead, my familiarity with Jughead and Betty was mainly through cultural osmosis. Thank you to bighead-in-the-comics for your dedication in sharing the long history of Bughead in the comics. I appreciate all the work you’ve done.
@blueandgoldoffice, and @bughead-quotes - A big thanks to the folks that run these blogs. These blogs are dedicated to sharing (and finding) Bughead fics. They’ve helped introduce me to many an excellent fics that would have passed me by. And, the tag system at blueandgoldoffice has been a great help when I have an idea about the kind of fic I’m interested in reading at the moment, but don’t have a particular story in mind.
There are many more fics and authors that I have come to love. I can’t name them all. Here are a few that I have read multiple times and have greatly shaped my understanding and enjoyment of Bughead. While I’ve only mentioned one fic for each of the authors, all their fics are worth reading.
The Elusive Elenor Clancy by @darknessaroundus  (Part of the Willowdale-verse series)
On the Observation of Trifles by @thepointoftheneedle
a comic miniverse series by @sullypants
Eye for an Eye by @lazydaizies
Cowboy Jones series by @writeradamanteve
What Does Shakespeare Know? Parts (1) (2) (3) by makingitwork (@typing123)
For everyone I have and haven’t mentioned--Thank you for writing, drawing, making edits and gif sets, and sharing episode analysis, fan theories, and synopsis. Thank you for being part of fandom and sharing your work. Thanks to everyone who has liked, kudo-ed, re-blogged and reviewed. You all make our fandom a wonderful place to be. It’s all of you who keep us invested in this fandom and creating. Thank you. <3<3<3

Oh boy that’s a lot this is going to be super freaking long I hope you know that…
4. Do you like your name?  Is there another name you think would fit you better?
I am really glad you asked this because…I want to fill you in on a little secret.  My name sucks.  When I was born, my mother looked down at my tiny baby face and said (this is a near direct quote from her): “I should give this baby a genuinely unique name, something with personality, because lord knows she’s definitely not going to have one.  Not with that face.”So she picked a name that probably by itself would have been fine, but then she decided that not only did she also wanted to be a “cool ‘90s ” mom on top of that, so she switched some of the letters around and called it good.  Granted, there’s not too much of a difference, but when you name a baby after a word that’s in the dictionary that everybody knows because it’s also a common concept (Destiny- the hidden power that is believed to control what will happen in the future) and then switch two letters around (Destyni) you’re not being “edgy” you’re just making things awkward for your child in the future because the kid (me) has to constantly tell people that they’re spelling their name wrong even though they’re spelling the word right and honestly it’s so awkward because…everybody knows how to spell it, so they never ask me how it’s spelled so I have to go and be the jerk with the misspelled name and I feel bad whenever I have to correct them…
The weird thing is though, I can’t think of a single name that would fit me better, probably because I’m so accustomed to this messed up, stupid one.
1. If someone really wanted to understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
Part of me really wants to say Homestuck, but almost none of my friends read any of it and I still feel like they get me, so that’s not exactly mandatory reading, that’s more extra credit right now… They should definitely read some manga.  At least the basics, like Fullmetal Alchemist or Fruits Basket or something, definitely Ouran High School Host Club because it’s really good and funny and I (and all my friends) loved it. But for reading not involving pictures…Harry Potter for sure!   Lord of the Flies is also good, so are 1984 and Animal Farm…I have a weird variety of taste when it comes to this kind of stuff.  For watching stuff?  I’d probably say Durarara and The Devil is a Part Timer. My entire childhood was pretty much Invader Zim and Disney movies, which is probably explains my weird sense of humor and love of science fiction (Invader Zim) and my Disney references (less prevalent, but they’re there sometimes if you squint real hard). They should definitely definitely DEFINITELY watch some Starkid musicals.  Those things are beautiful.  I’ve seen all of them at least three times (I cried the last time I watched Twisted, it was so good but parts of it were so sad.  If you like Disney movies I recommend that one go watch it right now whenever you have a spare 2+ hours).  Listening wise, I would probably say something like Panic at the Disco, Placebo, and The Airborne Toxic Event are a good enough indication of my taste in music?  I don’t know.  But listening to Welcome to Nightvale is a must.  I love that podcast so MUCH!  It’s beautiful and funny and weird and dark and…it’s just the best I can barely describe it.  I love it so much I named my kitten, Khoshekh, after the cat that floats at a fixed point four feet off the floor in the men’s rest room at the Welcome to Nightvale Radio station.  Anyway, it’s good, give it a listen.
3. List your fandoms and one character each you identify with.
Harry Potter- I wish I could say Hermione Granger, but I’m not that super smart or cool and my real answer has a dorky reason behind it…So, my best pals and I were talking about a year ago about which characters we were and, since there are four of us, we decided to group ourselves into the Marauders (aka James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin).  Anyway, after not much debate and several surprisingly thorough personality tests in which none of us got the same character, I got Remus Lupin.  So yeah, Remus Lupin, werewolf/ lover of chocolate.
Welcome to Nightvale-The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home.  No more explanation than that.
Homestuck-I’ve had moments where I’ve identified with everyone, but I’m going to be basic and say I identify with my sign girl, Terezi Pyrope because I love her and pretty much always got her character the best, plus my number one best friend is a Scorpio, so it’s only fitting.
21. Do you love easily?
Yes and no?  I mean, I love people as friends pretty easily.  Pretty much you just have to talk to me and not be terrible or just laugh at something I said and boom I count you as at least an acquaintance.  Romantically, though?  No, not at all.
16. If you’d grown up in a different environment, do you think you would have turned out the same?
That’s an excellent question.  I would love to say no, but I know that’s false for the following reasons:I used to go to this really tiny, really expensive private school.  It was kindergarten-12th Grade, and there were about 90 people there including the faculty.  There were six people including me in my entire grade, and I was as social then as I am now, so I wasn’t even really friends with anyone.  Everyone there was Lutheran and Conservative and extremely athletic, all of which are things that I am not.  I don’t want to say I was depressed or anything, because I was about 11 and I don’t really remember a lot, I just remember not really being happy about anything and wanting attention and validation and all that jazz.  Until I switched to public school before sixth grade, I only thought there were that many kids my age in the whole town and that I was just too weird to have a real friendship with anybody.  Then sixth grade came, I switched schools, and I met some of my best friends and found out I’m not as weird and lame as I thought.  So I’m pretty much the same person as I was in sixth grade, just less sad and attention seeking (I hope) and with a bigger, brighter sense of the world.  If I’d stayed where I was, though, there’s not a doubt in my mind I would have eventually given in and tried to conform with my (literally five) peers and probably still have zero deep, real and meaningful relationships.
Sorry about how long these answers were…

And now, for corrections.
We offer the following corrections to previous reports broadcast on Night Vale Community Radio:
One: Blue, not green.
Two: A low whirring sound was heard *only* by those to the *west* of it.
Three: The witness's name was Henry Gregson, and not, as we reported, Crystal Soul-Eater.
Four: We were feeling, at best, fine and not, as we stated on the record, "Pretty good, thanks".
Five: No. No. Do not do what we advised. We were so terribly, terribly wrong. If you have done it already, well, our heart goes out to those who miss you. Please forgive us. Please forgive us.
