agh ok it’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these but here we go. @wedidthetimewarpagain tagged me in “9 people I'd like to know better” so here we go!

Last song so I actually don’t listen to music super often but the last song I remember listening to was boys don’t cry by the cure bc I’ve been listening to them a lot since seeing them last week!

Currently watching Futurama. I’m sorry for my transgressions. It’s not good but it is sometimes and it’s funny sometimes and really clever sometimes but mostly it’s just so I can say that I’ve seen it. I do this a lot tbh

Currently reading unfortunately I have stopped doing a lot of reading in my college years bc I got tired but I did just finish Trigun Maximum! It was GREAT I actually really enjoyed it I don’t think I will. Be reading manga online ever again but I’m glad that I did it. I’ve also been slowly rereading Omniscient Reader Viewpoint again but I stopped a while ago around chapter I want to say 390 and haven’t really picked it back up since. Another strong recommend though if you can get past the length.

Current obsession I think it is obvious from my current rbs but yeah I am back in the trigun hole. I was really into it right at the start of the pandemic bc I loved the 98 anime a lot but no one was really talking abt it back then bc well, it was over 20 years old at that point. But with the new show and everything it’s gotten decently popular and it’s really reminded me how much I liked the story. And then I went crazy about it. And now we’re here. Lmao.

Currently reading: I started reading Moonday letters by Emmi Itäranta few months ago.... but I never actually finished it because of work. I am also reading Lancer rulebook to scavange some lore, does that count as reading?

Current obsession: planning and writing that Lancer oneshot I've been meaning to run. (I am vibrating with joy, one of my friends sent me his character and the mech and I am terrified of it.)

Fic title ask game: “The only sound out here is my own breath”

The thing this feels perfect for is a moody character study of Isabel Lovelace... being back on the Hephaestus from her perspective, the loneliness and ghosts that haunt her when she restlessly stays up all night wandering the hallways of the station, when she goes on a midnight spacewalk alone to have a place to be by herself... the way this is somewhere almost like home but not, the way she now feels guilty about wanting to leave and go home because what is she bringing back to Earth? Would the people there recognize the person she is now? But of course the point is moot because who knows if she's ever going to make it back anyway...

Give me everything delving into Lovelace's evolving feelings about what being back on the Hephaestus means and what it means to escape it, or not.

if you think an elevator with a normal door is cursed just try an elevator that you have to hand-crank the sliding door shut and then it shakes like the building is going to fall down when it moves. i lived there for three months during my summer abroad in hell.

that was actually hell because this would be what the elevator to hell would be like. it would be a normal door that you have to crank, and it would rattle and shake all the way down, and that’s how you know that you’re definitely going down the way. nothing has made me consider turning to god and saving my soul more than the thought that I might have to travel in this elevator one day.

Yo thoughts on the prison system: should convicted criminals be allowed to vote? I feel very strongly that they should and I’m interested to hear your thoughts whether you agree with me or not.

I’m not entirely sure whether people who are currently in prison should be allowed to vote- conflicted, leaning toward ‘yes’, but you could convince me either way. But there’s no reason why someone who’s served their sentence and is out of prison should not be able to vote.

Here’s a fun challenge for you: what is the WORST system to run a Sburb tabletop game inside of? Systems you think are just bad don’t count, it has to be a game you would be happy to play otherwise.

I think trying to run an actual tabletop game of Sburb would be missing the point of Sburb. Sburb isn’t meant to be playable in the conventional sense - the whole idea is that it’s impossible to make meaningful progress by playing within the rules, and that this is an explicit design goal (insofar as Sburb can accurately be described as “designed”, anyway). The specifics of those rules don’t particularly matter, save as a narrative frame for your efforts to bullshit your way around them.

Which is to say, every system is a bad system for running Sburb.

(Which isn’t to say that you couldn’t run a tabletop game about the experience of playing Sburb - but that’s a different thing from what you asked for!)
