Have you ever heard of a weaning cabin? 'Weaning Cabins' were secluded structures built to wean newlywed couples away from their mountain families. These small cabins were usually built by large families in western North Carolina and parts of the Appalachian Mountains. This Appalachian tradition provided a small cabin near the family's main cabin that was used as a temporary home until the couple gained more independence and were ready to begin building their own homestead and start their own families.
This cabin is now located on the property of the Kernersville Museum in Kernersville, N.C.

Niche post, but I'm proud of the meme I made in my phone's equivalent of Paint.

With Princess Elizabeth on the move and learning to speak, it was time for Cecily to introduce solid food to the girl's diet. This was a delicate stage in an infant's life and highly worrying for anxious parents and attendants. Milk alone was supposed to be given until the front teeth appeared, cautioned one manual, before some simpler foods – such as chicken's legs, on which the baby could chew – might be introduced. Since infants have few teeth, it was necessary for a nurse to chew the food herself before spitting it out and placing it in the child's mouth. Anxious parents would wait to see how their child did, and a nurse might come under suspicion should the baby fail to thrive. Erasmus, for one, considered that 'nurses put very little of the food they chew into the baby's mouth, most of it they swallow themselves'.
There was also some argument that boys and girls should be weaned at different times, with three years suggested for boys and up to a year earlier for girls. Boys were, after all, expected to live longer and have more active lives: they needed their mother's (or wetnurse's) nurturing milk for longer.

I can’t wait to finish breastfeeding for the sole purpose of being able to really restrict. I obviously try and eat enough to maintain supply and also not be tired but it hard to balance that out.
I will miss breastfeeding. I will forever cherish the bond. If anyone experiencing this please let me know.
