vinny - a friend’s sister. you were definetely dom's or jay's sister, and vinny was so annoyed by you in the first place. not because of your personality or you annoyed him directly, but you were that "genious" in your sport, and vinny unitentionally compared you to jay jo, who were gifted with talent from birth. he was angry or annoyed to the point of goosebumps, he didn't even understand exactly what he was feeling, but he understood that this was a very strong storm of emotions and he was fixated on you. honestly? when your brother watches your competitions or casually tells about your successes, Vinny records it in his memory and will congratulate you later(dom as an older brother will 100% hype you up, fight me. he would show his phone to hummingbird crew with tearing puppy eyes “look, my lil gremlin winning those competition of hers”🥹🥹)Vinny would rather die by biting his neck than admit his feelings to someone, so it happens accidentally, maybe your chat went further than congratulating each other on winning competitions or your calls to him to find out where your brother is hanging around today. but because you were tired after the competition, you fell asleep leaving the chat open and not responding to his messages, leaving him on read. not to say that Vinny was offended by you, he just snapped at you for 3 days in a row, refusing to respond to messages. you had to take the situation into your own hands and hold his hand after another training and talk. “ta hell you want?” he said, frowning down at you. “just to talk and clearly” - you explained the situation to him and told him why you didn't answer, but since Vinny didn't know how to apologize and he had certain trust issues, it turned into another skirmish. it was evening and it was unnoticeable how the clouds thickened and the rain began to fall, but it didn't seem to bother two of you much because you were standing and yelling at each other for a reason you both didn't understand. Vinny's patience had always been zero, but now it seemed as if he was on the verge of reaching another stage of rabies. while you were shouting at him that you didn't understand why he started this quarrel at all, he just exhaled irritably and unknowingly blurted out “FUCK! because i was worried about you!!” as the argument reached its peak, Vinny's frustration peaked, his heart pounding with a mixture of anger and apprehension. yet, amidst the chaos of their exchange, a surge of emotion overcame him, compelling him to act on the impulse he'd long suppressed. with a sudden surge of courage, Vinny closed the distance between you, his hand reaching out to cup your cheek. eyes met, mirroring the intensity of emotions, as Vinny leaned in, capturing your lips in a tender kiss. the rain continued to fall, its gentle rhythm enveloping both of you in a cocoon of intimacy as you melted into each other's embrace. wooin - fake relationship. he commited it in the first place. since his work wasn’t permanent and he was constantly on the move, hanging here and there, Wooin thought it would be nice to have something permanent in his life. he needed excuse to tell his family why he can’t visit them on weekends - his girlfriend doesn’t feel well. them asking him all this “start a family” questions? sorry, y/n isn’t ready yet. some unforeseen situations? oh, y/n can be his trusted person. something didn't go according to plan? he can rely on y/n, if it isn’t something too difficult or dangerous. as a substitute he will gift you something, or will took you somewhere, thanking you for being his backup. genuinely it wasn’t something like friends with benefits, no, you two clearly share a bond, but it was something on the edge, as everybody thought you were dating. and in fact all this acts, you being his backup, him giving you small gifts, taking you on dates, sharing a bed - it all feels more like a relationship. but you never had this conversation, after another hot sex you could fall asleep together, for sure, but in the morning one of you definitely woke up in an empty bed. of course, it also happened that you woke up together, but in the morning Wooin was simply unbearable, and more often it ended with too caustic jokes. and it was always on the edge, you weren't in a relationship, you weren't friends, you weren't strangers, you were all together at once. at some point, it started to get exhausting. you noticed it first, but Wooin started talking about it first... well not actually talk, but mutter in the crook of your neck… today’s sex was different, the encounter was filled with a blend of sensuality and intensity, both of you asserting your desires while maintaining a balance of power. you bite each other, when it feels like too much, but immediately kissing and licking bite place, each of you tried to get leading role while another didn’t let it happen. today, Wooin's approach was different - not sloppy, fast and erratically, but slower, more deliberate, his touch gentle yet his thrusts firm. you were suffocating in his arms, and it seemed to him that he was drowning in the smell of your hair, your moans, how you trembled slightly from his hands on your chest, hips and neck. kwon - stranger to lovers/soulmetes - for the first time it seemed like someone corsed you. you moved to new flat in different district of Seul and now it was time to transport your stuff from old flat. everything started when you recieved message from a men who drove the car with your stuff, saying that he is stuck on a street because there are some stupid cycling competition and usual road is closed. amazing, you already were so stressed and here some cycling competition, but thankfully in the evening you finally recieved your stuff, mostly some boxes, small and big. when you were about to pick another heavy box you felt that it seemed strangely light. when you rise your eyes you saw a young man around your age. you thanked him for helping and he turned out to be almost your neighbor, one floor above and to the left of your neighbor's wall. next time you saw Kwon Hyeok in evelator…and you two were stuck there…for 3 hours…you were about to meet with your friends and, as you learned later, he was about to pick something to eat in nearest market. week later you met him in random cafe, where you decided to have a dinner alone, the owner of the cafe came up to you, saying that all the seats are occupied, but since you are alone, there was an empty place, behind the bar, just next to a guy your age (the old man grinned and has obviously already married you two in his head) so when you sat down carefully and apologized for the intrusion, you recognized that it was Kwon. you ordered your food and few drinks, and had a nice time together. and after a month of such unexpected encounters, you began to suspect 2 things - either fate brings you together, or he is a stalker. thankfully when you ran into each other again in the same cafe and drank a lot more this time, you admitted that you suspected him, and he, in turn, thought the same - that you were weird stalker girl who followed him around, and in that evening you laughed together from many things. when it was time to leave he understood that you were so drunk that you couldn’t even stand straight, so he took you by the elbow, hugged you with his free hand a little bit higher than your waist and led you home. along the way, of course, you mumbled something about how you like one handsome boy and he seemed like not paying attention to you and probably not even interested and why you're still alone…and then, under the soft glow of streetlights, amidst the hushed whispers of the night, it happened. in a moment that felt both inevitable and surreal, your lips met in a tender kiss, sealing the bond that had been silently growing between you. in that stolen moment, amid the chaos of the city, you found solace in each other's arms, knowing that fate had finally brought you together as more than just strangers in passing.

Weekend ended as fast as I thought and now I'm standing outside the room debating whether I should enter or leave and stay at home for a couple of days, Im not ready to see him yet..
Recalling what Vinny told me I closed my eyes as I hold my breath, slowly opening the door, Suddenly before I could fully opened it someone already did it for me, Dom screamed as soon as he saw me
" ahh- god! You scared me! " Dom yelled as he put his hands on his chest, I mumbled a small sorry to him " what are you even doing outside the door? " Dom asked " anyways, you're nerdy boyfriend is waiting for you " Dom continue as my eyes completely went from Dom to jay who was already looking at me though his glasses, I Immediately looked away not wanting to have staring contest with him
' just ignore him, what's so hard on ignoring someone..or just act normal like before when you were still on your right mind '
Suddenly vinny's words rang through my head, I grip my bag tightly, I looked back at Dom and giving him a small smile before walking inside the room, I sat on my chair that was near at the window, once I sat there, I took my books and start studying before the class started
I feel a pair of eyes looking at my way but I didn't bother to look who it was, it's pretty obvious that it was jay
Dismissal time appered and everyone was now leaving the room while the others were packing up their bags, I was currently putting my belongings back to my bag when minu entered the room and talking about having a training after class today as he asked if the others will be attending
" hey nerd you going? " Minu asked, " yeah " jay answered which made me feel nervous, I'll be training with him fuck.
" you're being quiet today y/n? Are you okay? " Yuna suddenly went to my side as she holds my shoulder looking at me, " i-im fine Yuna thank you " I answered smiling at her gently her worried look hasn't vanished yet, she looks like she's not believing what I said
" what about you y/n? You going? " Dom asked I looked at them who were already looking at me, I nodded my head as an answer " did something happened to the two of you? " Minu asked as he keeps on looking at jay and me " you haven't Interacted yet since this morning " Dom said agreeing on what minu said
maybe I should tell them now
Silence engulfed us, no one dared to talk or speak, I sighed feeling uncomfortable
" we broke up " I answered earning a shocking look from Dom, minu, yuna and Mia while jay was only looking down at his book pretending not to be bother by what I've said
" we should get going now guys so we can practice " I said I acted as if my words didn't hurt me, I gave them a small smile " don't think about what I said, it's completely fine, jay and I talked about it " we did not " right jay? " I said as I looked over to jay who looked at me after I called out his name, everyone looks at him waiting for his answer " yeah.." he answered
" I hope June recovers quickly" minu said as he sighed, last week June was gang up with some dudes, they beat him up and his bike then after some day jay also encountered the same guys who beaten June, luckily we were there to help jay
" I'll beat those motherfuckers when I saw them again " Dom said as he clenched his fists but only to received a slap on the head by Yuna " you idiot! Will you stop acting so though? Stop getting into fight! All of you " yuna said scolding us
" the tournament again was near, who do you think we will race next? " Minu brought up while everyone just shrugged their shoulders, I looked over to jay who was busy ready his book, we were currently having a rest that's why he took the opportunity to study again
" how can you move on when you kept on looking at him? "
Vinny suddenly said, I looked at him annoyed " I'm not looking at him " I lied " who are you looking at then huh? Idiot " Vinny said once again, I bit my lips not knowing what to say " t-the.." I stutter as I looked back at jay and starts looking for something to answer at vinny's question " yeah right! I was looking at the tree there! It was beautiful!" I said and pointed the tree, Vinny's looks turned sour as he gave me a ' the fuck are you saying ' look
" I swear! I was looking over the tree " I repeated as he rolled his eyes " idiot " he muttered, " I'm not an idiot" I said looking at him with full annoyance " I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the tree " he said sarcastically, pointing the tree behind me I looked over to the tree and looked back at him only to see his finger pointing at me already, I slap his arms I was too bothered to not notice the eyes of the others looking at our way
" since when the two became so close? " Dom muttered receiving a ' I don't know either' from minu, yuna, and Mia
You also didn't noticed the looks that jay was giving at the two of you, and he can't help but to feel jealous at the scene...

The story of Bojunyixiao’s WEIBO NIGHT 2022/2023 📝
this is my attempt to archive in one post what happened in this event. from days before the actual show and most of the rumos/hearsays going around. also moments from both the boys as individuals during the show and of course, everyone’s favorite, cpn moments. it’s the long awaited same-event from them so it’s only right that it be documented well. i will not be talking about the red carpet / livestream drama so this post remains positive.
if you only want candies please skip to part V which is the final section of this post. there are also minor ones on part ii ‼️
I. The Anticipation / Announcements
As soon as the “winners” were announced for the user recommendation portion on 3/20, people were already celebrating that we will have a same-stage and same event incident. This is because, both XZ & WYB were awarded in the top 3 as popular personalities on Weibo. Also Yibo won in all categories where his works were nominated movie/drama/variety show/song. At this time there was really no question that GG is gonna attend because his votes for KING/ Oath of Love were astronomical but Yibo on other hand had melons related to him saying he would not be attending. XFXs were hard at work trying to win tickets to Weibo night but MTJJs weren’t because there was really no confirmation or even leaked schedule for 3/25. BXGs were also hard at work trying to get tickets for fan-sites to get in.
It’s been a long running rumor that GG will be one of the guests that will be announced last. However WB night account posted a banner of the attendees for the livestream which showed him. Also the weibo opening screen on 3/22 evening had him as an attendee. So this certainly “spoiled” it tho there was never any doubt that GG will be there. I say “spoil” because Weibo Night account made a big deal of announcing attendees in “batches” depending on their perceived status at the event. So this spoils a couple of attendees, including GG, which were not formally announced yet.
The next day 3/23, Yibo pops up on his weibo account and announces the he will be attending. This certainly allowed us to breathe a sigh of relief. His VCR for the awards night was also shared. He really went “surprise bitch, i’m attending” on us which is certainly on brand for him.
AT THIS POINT, the fandom is screaming because we finally have the long awaited same-event. Even if they don’t interact or even look at each other, as long as we can see them at the same awards night then this is a win. It is also important to note that there are a lot of turtles who have never experienced this. Truly one for the books.
3/24, the last day before the actual awards show, Xiao Zhan was announced via his post on his weibo account.
II. Pre-show rumors and everything else
• The notorious “seating arrangement” started going around in the evening of 3/23, as event organizers were already hard at work at the venue in Shanghai. It was rumored that they are in the same zone but XZ is in Row 1 and WYB in Row 2.
jokes were also going around that they should have a loveseat 😂😂😂
• 3/24, there was a video/photo of GG being shared, boarding his plane & arriving in Shanghai. The moto leather jacket he was wearing certainly caught our eye. It’s by Tod’s and the look is similar to what WYB had been wearing when he is photographed @ the airport.
The things that gets us tho is why is he so dressed up only for a plane ride? This is supposed to be mister comfortable clothes hopping on a plane. We’ve seen it so many times. So why is he so stylish? Even if he has a work related engagement after the flight, he can just change. We’re speculating that he is dressing up for the love of his life 💕 He has to look extra fresh when he arrives in Shanghai and they see each other. Also if you look at the side by side i posted above, you can’t really tell that the one on the right is GG when you first look at it.
• GG wore an off white suit coat for filming his Weibo Night VCR. It’s been a while since he wore Off White and when he does, it’s for an event where he and Yibo are gonna attend. Off White has some CPN history because of their “couple wear” in 2018.
The style of the coat is also similar to what Yibo was wearing in his announcement poster. It’s an interesting choice to say the least.
• Some next level coincidence is the night before the event, the Moon & Venus are clearly seen in the night sky. 🌙 and knowing our cpn symbolism history with these two, turtles can’t help but think it’s fate and a sign of good things to happen. also the next time this will happen again 2026.
Then you have the strongest aurora in Tasmania for 32 years. The last time the strongest aurora appeared was in 1991 which is ZZ’s birth year.
This is some kind of cosmic-level romance power 😂
• The real icing on the cake is the night of 3/24, LRLG decides to share a post of events that happened on the same day. All the details and sweets on that are here. 🍬
• Traveling to where Yibo is + playing LoL at midnight clues
III. Red Carpet
Didn’t happen because SINA weibo decided to be a bitch and not give the fans what they want. 🤷🏻♀️
IV. Weibo Night Awards Show
• XZ Studio photoset ( Elie Saab ) one two / behind the scenes

They didn’t get the popularity award as we expected them to, or even for their dramas, but I think those got consolidated so people don’t have to get up the stage too many times. I found WB night went more with specific things like XZ getting an acting award and Bobo for movie-actor. Maybe they also consulted with the attendees on this. XZ didn’t even get the KING title, but it must be true that he didn’t want it. I mean, any fan who knows and pays attention to what XZ does will feel that another traffic award is not what he needs right now. He’s won it several times already. His passion is acting and he will concentrate on that. Good for him. Good for them.
Yibo immediately left the venue after getting his award because he still has to film night scenes for his drama. GG stayed till the end, but a video showed him running out the venue. He was also in a hurry to leave. lol.
Overall I wanna say that it was as peaceful as it can be. No drama onstage is so much better. At least they did their part in this circus and of course, blessed us with their presence.
V. Time for some post-show Sugar round-up 🍬🍭
• XZ’s look screams Disney Prince! and also, like a grown up version of the Little Prince which is his favorite and have been tied to him & WYB. It’s also from the brand Elie Saab that is popular with making intricate gowns for women and wedding gowns too.
I’m personally happy to see him in this fit! The perfect balance of masculine and feminine 🤍
• The venue where this was shot is the same place one of his Tod’s ad was filmed + Bobo’s Chanel ad. This was already CPNd before and it’s nice to see this place coming up again.
• In XZS’ photoshoot behind the scenes, one of the things on camera that was emphasized was a flower. sure, it could just be because it was pretty but i’ve said so many times that XZS does videos carefully and every frame tells a story. What a coincidence that out of all the shots they can insert as filler, it’s of a PEONY???? I mean. We know who the White Peony of Luoyang is. Wang Yibo.
Plus there was a frame that you can mistake as WYB. They really look alike in some angles! Soulmate things!
• Yibo’s suit for the night is by Givenchy, he is in all black and it makes his Chanel high jewelry accessory stand out more. It’s been a pattern for him, for the past few events to have Chanel as a highlight. Anyway, what blew my mind is how this is a contrast to GG’s. It still matches tho. They can get married. The aesthetic is just 🥹🥹🥹 Yes, GG is not the “bride/wife” but you get the point, how they look together is truly something.
• You can see the element of a “television” in both of their photoshoots. is this a popular theme that i don’t know about??? why is it always them??? Then you have the bts for yibo’s photoshoot, he was holding a video recorder. the TV for GG’s in the meantime, had that V effect.
• This shot is so reminiscent of that scene from Hidden Blade. Again, why would you use this shot??? I'm pretty sure they have better ones but they went with this. an interesting choice.
• Fans are saying WYB bowed in the direction of GG here, but I think it was more of him bowing to everyone and being polite.
• One type of candy that I don’t usually go for, because it’s too invasive and sometimes there are things that we shouldn’t look imply. but we can’t help but notice how their lips are bruised. or maybe these are sores? because of the weather? idk man. yibo bites his lips usually, but ZZ? hmmmm. i’m not confirming anything, just kinda sus that they are in the same city and this happens. 🤔
• not sure about this but fans are hearing GG say “where is wang yibo” to the assistant. here is the video.
A cute incident showing they have the same braincell. lol. seats apart and the same mannerism. i love them!!!
XZS posted another behind the scenes and the BGM and how sexy everything sounds makes my mind go places. The lines goes: I will keep the lights on, until -- till you get back home. Who is this line for??? are you gonna wait for someone who still has night scenes to shoot to come home??? Damn it. Yibo is so a lucky man and I wanna fight him. HAHAHAHAHAHA! He has Xiao Zhan to come home to. I'm happy they are in the same city cause WYB is often exhausted and does long hours for his shoots, that's a given but it's not everyday that he has XZ waiting for him. <3
• LASTLY, my favorite is Weibo Night’s choice to cut to certain things and people depending on who is onstage. I can’t believe they did it to Yibo tho. HAHAHAHAHAHA. So it’s like, for example, AngelaBaby ( actress ) is onstage, they will show Huang XiaoMing’s reaction. Why? They are exes. Then when WY and WJK were accepting their respective awards, the camera cut to YYXQ who is their bandmate in TFBoys and their fans were hoping for a reunion. You get the point?
Even non-cpfs picked up on what happened. After Bobo’s speech, the camera cut to the audience but you can see the CPF HEADBANDS. RED AND GREEN. The event knows. They weren’t that brave to cut to Xiao Zhan tho. 😂😂😂😂 and well, imagine the pandemonium between the two fandoms if they did. What this tells me tho it’s out there. BJYX is known. This is a show broadcasted on CCTV. The stream is watched by 300M++ people, and they still chose to do it. Unless the camera person whatever is a turtle then there is no point in doing this. It was definitely a 👀 moment. What do you all know? Or maybe they were trying to appeal to the very small number of CPFs who were hoping for a same stage? hmmmmmm… I'm not sure if it's good or bad but it's definitely something. It was unexpected and that's why it's my favorite.

You are a brilliant author. Your style and writing flow very nicely and naturally and often I forget that your stories aren't technically classified as professional. You have made me cackle and moved me to tears, possibly even in the same story, and the sheer intricacy of your stories made me see the zelda games in a totally new light. With every one of these I read I wish a little more that Nintendo would invest in making the Linked universe a series or Show. And honestly, I'd be surprised if they didn't hire you for ideas on it.
I love the platonic intimacy shown between the characters. It's one of the things that drew me to your work the most. I like the safety felt in those moments. Warm hugs, leaning against one another, sharing a sleeping space (for warmth or simply for company), and grabbing another's hand. It's just nice.

Harry actually owns a watermelon farm in a secret location that we can’t disclose. So the day before the shoot we went with our whole crew, make-up artists, set decorators, focus pullers you name it! I feels cheap, is the thing
So on the whole for OFMD season 2, episodes 1-5 were perfect, and episodes 6-8 felt rushed, and any plot points that weren't part of the Stede and Eddie show were seriously pushed to the wayside. Think about all the scenes featuring the rest of the crew, in moments that aren't about Ed and Stede in episodes 6, 7, and 8. They are incomplete. I think ultimately we can blame WB for that, since there are less episodes this season. But that finale should have been much longer.

They were trying to go for an epic battle, and instead we got a handful of fight scenes, everyone running away, and Izzy being shot and dying almost as an after thought.
I'm not really going to get into whether or not he should have been killed (he really shouldn't, because killing a character off just after all the massive character development for their redemption is cheap and overused and I thought OFMD was better than that), but it should have had way more of an impact. On everyone. Not just Ed. Because that was kind of the whole point of Izzy's arc this season, moving beyond Ed and finding family and belonging with the rest of the crew. HE'S THE NEW FREAKIN UNICORN FOR GOD'S SAKES! They should be EFFECTED by his death. And his final words shouldn't be consoling Ed, and telling him that he has friends now. For that scene, it should have been Izzy being fatalist and maudlin (you're born alone, you die alone), and ED telling him he has family, that HE was loved. Even Stede seems kind of unbothered about Izzy dying. For all that "Ed, Stede, and Izzy's arcs are tied together" it sure seems like Izzy became an after thought.
But again, ultimately everything felt incredibly rushed, and because of that we get half a plot. Think back to season 1, where we had a full season long arc of Jim/Oluwande, where they were basically the basis of the B plots for almost the whole season, sort of being a mirror to the main romance. So far in season 2 we get Jim and Olu getting new love interests, kind of? There was the beginnings of relationship development through episode 5, and then it just kind of stopped. Because we kind of stopped spending any real amount of time with anyone that wasn't Ed and Stede. We don't get the deep dives into the rest of the crew. We don't get something like the growth of the Black Pete/Lucius relationship over multiple episodes, without it being forgotten or overwritten (literally the entire plot of Izzy's relationship with the crew of the Revenge and Stede). Frenchie and Jim, integral in the first 3 episodes are afterthoughts. Roach, Black Pete, and Wee John are barely in the episodes.
We get some moments, but they aren't connected to anything else happening. It is all planting and no payoff. It's Buttons becoming a seagull to just make a weird cameo at the end. It's Stede leaving piracy with Ed after NO conversation at all. It's the crew riding off with Zheng and Spanish Jackie, and WHO THE HELL IS CAPTAINING THIS SHIP? It's the Republic of Pirates still under occupation, because they didn't do the big damn hero thing.
And I get it, they weren't sure if they'd get a season 3 so they wanted everything wrapped up, but the plot suffers for it. It's an amputated story, where nothing feels earned, or completed. There was more narrative weight tot he death of Karl the seagull than Izzy Hands.
I mean why have him make the speech about belonging, if no one seems to care that he dies?
All of this to give more air time to Ed/Stede, and they still didn't really complete that either. Things I loved about the finale, the opening with Ed totally not knowing how to do any actual fishing work, parallel to episode 1 at Jackie's with the occupation, Zheng getting used to failing, Izzy being a legend, and badass montage. Just really wish they'd have actually done something with this episode other than looking kind of cool.
I wish the last 3 episodes had the time they needed to breath and be full episodes, but here we are.
Anyways, the great thing about fandom is ignoring canon when we want, or fixing it, so I'm going to need lots of fic filing in the grieving of the crew, and also seagull Buttons raising Izzy from the dead on my desk by next week.

JENNY GAGE AND TOM BETTERTON : When shooting all-American beauty Jessica Biel (page 256), husband-and- wife team Tom Betterton and Jenny Gage wanted to keep things real. "At this point in her career, it seems like everyone wants to sex her up," says Betterton. "But her beauty is very nat- ural." The couple has shot for W, among other magazines, and has a video instal- lation opening at the Luhring Augustine Gallery in New York this month.
"If you don't sign my ass, I'm gonna have to do fifteen shots of Jack Daniel's." Rarely in the course of a lifetime does an individual get a clear opportunity to directly affect the destiny of a complete stranger. For Jessica Biel, the chance to prevent a tragic death—or at least a long, ugly night of toilet hugging-came at 4 A.M. during pledge week of her freshman year at Tufts University.
Emboldened by copious amounts of liquor (and no doubt a few keg stands), a staggering pack of frat boys descended on Biel's dorm room with a mission- to get her to scrawl her name on a pledge's butt. Despite the obscene hour, Biel shook off her initial shock and took Sharpie in hand.
"The poor guy just drops trou and bends over right in front of me," Biel says, trying her best not to blush. "So I reached out and scribbled some illegible thing, and then they took off. You know, I hope they were serious, because I felt really bad. Fifteen shots of Jack? That could kill somebody."
While it's possible that her squeaky-clean work on the WB dramedy 7th Heaven brought her to the attention of Tufts' homy mob of chronic masturbators, more likely it was her ill-fated brush with kiddie-porn infamy when she was 17. Biel sus- pected that her Heaven-sent image had kept her from landing the meaty role in American Beauty that went to Thora Birch. So, at a magazine shoot, she had Frank W. Ockenfels 3 take pictures of her sprawled out in nothing but high heels and a thong. As if the photos weren't saucy enough, the article painted her as a foul- mouthed Lolita trying to bait Aaron Spelling into booting her off the show so she could pursue a proper big-screen career.
Part One of the equation worked like a charm: Soon after the story hit news- stands in March 2000, her character was packed off to do some soul-searching, and returns in just a handful of episodes. But the movie-star part? Well, let's
just say that the resounding thud of her first post-pinup role-Summer Catch- made her realize that there are worse fates than an eternity in Heaven.
"Yes, the pictures were supposed to be a little more mature and sexy than what I'd done before, but it went further than what I expected or wanted it to, she says. "Looking back, I would've made a different choice. I learned a shitload from the experience and grew a lot—but I wouldn't do it again.”
The year at Tufts helped bring her back to earth; tiny Medford, Massachu setts, was the perfect place to plot her next move. "I was pretty depressed, but most of all I was angry that I put myself in that situation," she says. "I never wanted to get off 7th Heaven. I just wanted to go to college."
She'll return to Tufts this fall, but not before giving the movies another shot In October she'll star alongside James Van Der Beek, Shannyn Sossamon, and Kip Pardue in The Rules of Attraction. Based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, it'sa satiric look at a sexual triangle among friends at a New England liberal-arts col lege. Biel passed on a nude scene, but still manages to play against type-jus like she's always wanted.
"What's most impressive about Jess is that she's really brave when the camera rolls," says Van Der Beek. "There was this one scene where she had to break down and cry, and she nailed it on the first take. She absolutely grabbed the scene by the balls. The girl knows her shit."
Biel admits that returning to the cineplex after her public comeuppance is bit nerve-racking, but she's ready to put the controversy behind her. "You do crazy things when you're 17, and I've changed a lot since then," the 20-year-old says with a smile. "I'm finally ready to show people that there is very different side of me."
The woman in Bungalow 27 at the Topanga Ranch Motel is getting nervous. So is the dandered militia of meowing cats pouring from every loose shingle of her beachfront cottage. She emerges from behind her rusting screen door, kitty tucked under one arm, and steps over an assortment of food-encrusted dishes to size up Biel.
"This isn't a party, is it?" she demands.
Biel names the approaching stranger Cat Woman under her breath, then charms her into submission. "Yes, ma'am," she says, managing to sound more sweet than smarmy. "The frat boys are on their way." Curiosity quenched, the Cat Woman herds her feline conga line back into the house and retreats.
Looking like a SoCal queen with her low-slung jeans and flip-flops, Biel has and arrived at this Pacific-coast hideaway to step in front of a photographer's lens once again. This time around, she'll prove she can turn it on without taking it off. After she wraps up here, she'll hop a plane for Austin to begin filming the just remake of seventies trash classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A horror junkie,
Biel snagged the role by auditioning for producer Michael Bay himself, and she's obviously ecstatic about reimagining Leatherface's sordid tale.
She coils up on the bed of the cramped motel room and rocks back and forth as she excitedly describes one of the scenes.
"I jump out a window and gash my knee, but I'm still running," she explains, eyes wide. "I'm in these semi-stiletto clogs and I trip and twist my ankle. So now I'm bleeding and I've got a busted ankle. But I'm not the typical horror-movie wuss girl-not at all. I get right back up on my feet and keep on running." Falling down and getting back up again? It's something Biel has become pretty damn good at. Leatherface had better watch out.■

I had a thought.
It's been almost a year. Looking back on it, it seems to me that Universal and DreamWorks were so gosh-dang quiet about RUBY GILLMAN (comma) TEENAGE KRAKEN simply because it opened a month after the release of Disney's live-action LITTLE MERMAID remake. "Ya think??" Yeah, it's probably obvious, but I'll go into detail anyways.
Now, I'm not gonna dredge up the unnecessary and needless noise that briefly surrounded these two movies... But I do think the similarities, namely a redheaded mermaid, did play a part in everyone's hesitance to let the world know: This movie actually exists!
Not until 3 1/2 months before its release date, anyways. Again, such an unusual rollout for a high-end animated movie that cost roughly $70m to make.
TEENAGE KRAKEN apparently was in development in some form at DreamWorks since the mid-2010s, which seems feasible, given how long these things take from conception to completion. Very rarely are they fast-tracked, like say, THE EMOJI MOVIE was. Tony Leondis created the pitch for that in early 2015, and three studios got in a bidding war over it. Sony was the winner (Paramount and WB were the other candidates), picked it up ASAP, greenlit it right away, and within two years the movie was in multiplexes... That was... Quick!
But usually, it's a lengthy development-to-production cycle. No one outside the walls of DreamWorks knew what this sea monster movie was until scooper sites started "reporting" it in mid-2021. The LITTLE MERMAID remake already was known to the public well before that. It had gotten its late spring 2023 release date a few months after these scoops about GILLMAN got out. MEET THE GILLMANS, it was known as, for a long time.
By this point in time, DreamWorks' schedule was pretty clear-cut. BOSS BABY 2 was pretty much out, or coming out. BAD GUYS was spring 2022, PUSS IN BOOTS 2 was penciled in for fall 2022. Both announced a while before that. Universal had Illumination's SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE pegged for Christmas 2022, and then an untitled DreamWorks movie set for April 2023 would follow that. That was going to be RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN... Which would've placed it a little over a month before Disney's Memorial Day release of THE LITTLE MERMAID.
However, RUBY GILLMAN could've been a fall 2022 release...
At one point in time, DreamWorks had THE BAD GUYS scheduled for September 2021. That would be followed by PUSS IN BOOTS 2 in April 2022, probably followed by RUBY GILLMAN in the fall... TROLLS 3 already had the fall 2023 slot by this point, one could guess that the spring 2023 movie could've been... I dunno, THE WILD ROBOT? ORION AND THE DARK, even? Possibly KUNG FU PANDA 4.
Often times, movie slates get domino'd in animation-land. Usually, DreamWorks' slate changes didn't really effect Illumination's. They typically lock the 4th of July frame and the Christmas frame.
COVID-19 certainly played a part in things getting pushed back, for DreamWorks. If you remember, BOSS BABY 2 was initially thought to be a late March 2021 release. That date was inked shortly after the first movie arrived and surprisingly broke out in the spring of 2017. It moved to September 2021, pushing BAD GUYS to April 2022... Then it moved up a bit, as an experimental day-and-date release in July 2021. Occupying the slot MINIONS 2 was originally looking at. It didn't make back its money theatrically, but a third BOSS BABY is coming, so DreamWorks essentially must've said "mulligan". (It also helps that the first movie and the TV series do consistently well on streaming.)
So by the end of 2021, we were looking at BAD GUYS as an April 2022 release, PUSS 2 as a September 2022 release, and something yet to be titled after that in April 2023 in addition to TROLLS 3 in November of that year. Illumination's MINIONS sequel, after two major COVID-19-related delays, was set for July 2022, and SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE would follow Christmas week... All seemed to lock together, even though DreamWorks was still being mum about what Untitled April 2023 Movie was...
But then... Illumination delayed MARIO. To April 2023, the slot that RUBY GILLMAN was looking at. This was done to coincide with the Super Nintendo World theme park opening... So, DreamWorks moved right into the ripe Christmas frame with PUSS IN BOOTS 2.
Feasibly, they could've moved RUBY GILLMAN up to January or something, and kept PUSS 2 in September... But they opted to give PUSS 2 the Christmas frame, thus a long, record-breaking leggy run. Worked out perfectly for the kitty, but it ultimately sunk the sea monsters.
MARIO taking April meant that RUBY GILLMAN had to move, so Universal chose late June 2023. 4th of July frame... That Illumination's MIGRATION originally occupied... MIGRATION took this past Christmas slot. All feel into place after that, but poor RUBY GILLMAN now was opening after LITTLE MERMAID... And I think Universal/DreamWorks just kinda tossed it off. Didn't announce its existence at all until about 3 1/2 months before release, as if they could wipe their hands of it and move onto the next few movies. THE WILD ROBOT and DOG MAN have been announced and have concrete release dates, well ahead of schedule. The latter was known to be in development for a long while, too. WILD ROBOT is a fairly recently announcement. ORION AND THE DARK was known about at least half a year before its Netflix debut. And that's a streaming movie, not like a big theatrical performance was expected of it.
I bring this up now because I keep thinking of the untitled Thanksgiving 2024 WDAS movie, and how the Disney Co. still hasn't officially revealed what it is... And there are nine months to go. Again, usually these things are announced a year or so in advance. If they aren't ready after being unveiled to the world, then they simply get delayed... But, Disney's curiously cutting this one pretty close. Heck, ENCANTO, STRANGE WORLD, and WISH were cut pretty close as well. Relatively speaking. Usually a WDAS is known about 2-3 years in advance. I'm sure we'll learn about what it is soon, but that they're still being this quiet about it makes me wonder. And given other things going on with WDAS itself, I get a little concerned, ya know?
Or everything's ginger-peachy, and they have a strategy for it, the movie itself is fine, and it speedily introduces itself via a teaser trailer sometime soon and then sticks the landing. Maybe it's ahead of schedule and it will be done before mid-2024, in anticipation of the possible animation/VFX strike. We shall see.

Okay, like, Matt’s been in AH videos BEFORE he was even hired. Wasn’t the first Minecraft we saw him in Griffball? And everyone in AH immediately liked him bc he smacked Gavin? Like, we as a community knew axialmatt, and were excited when the guys played one of his maps! And then he and Jeremy (AH fan artist AND fan fiction extraordinaire) get hired to do their DREAM job! And I hate to say a good chunk of the community took a LONG time to warm up to them (especially Matt, but Ray leaving soon after they were hired I think really threw a wrench in things too), but eventually they got comfortable and clicked into their places in AH, and it was like they were there the whole time!
And especially recently, Matt specifically has been KILLING it! He’s so creative, and funny, and his humor is sarcastic and dry, but he’s GENUINELY so kind, you can just tell. Like, this sucks, everyone’s pissed, WB are burning their company to the ground and idk if RT has any way of getting out of there, but they really need to, bc this is only the beginning.
Challenge Accepted and the Randomizers are, imo, the best content in AH right now. I even watched the Raft series, even though I have no interest in that game, bc Matt kept me there! Shark mage was the best! I love the rest of the cast, I really do, but at this point in AH’s life, Matt and Michael are def my fav members. It just sucks, I’m taking it better than when Ray left (I was a damn mess through that;;), but maybe that’s bc he’s still PT? We’ll see how long that lasts, I’ve really been enjoying seeing him in Chilled’s Among Us lobbys, and if he had more time to devote to streaming, he’ll prob hang out with that crowd more, which would be awesome tbh.
Does anyone know if he has a YT VOD channel? I have a thing, I don’t know why, but I don’t like watching livestreams. They make me anxious for whatever reason;; So VODs are a lifesaver for me, so please let me know if you know! 🧡
And yeah, that’s my jumbled thoughts on the matter. WB is ruining RTAH, and it sucks to see, and I really, really, really hope they SOMEHOW get out of that company. Easier said than done, I know, but it just sucks to have had to see all of the obvious change they’ve had to go through since they were put under them, and are still going through. AH cast and content used to be so colorful and bright and happy, but as much as I enjoy how they’ve matured, and still have fun together, the contrast from the past, more care-free AH is drastic. The past however many years, it’s just noticeable how dark their spaces have been, like, it’s kind of dreary looking at them compared to, let’s say, their tiny OG office. Like, that room was always so full of life! And their past few spaces have just been… sad looking.. and also, they’re not quiet about scheduling. Matt and Michael talked about how Sarah had been breathing down their necks for like, half the Wind Waker randomizers bc they were taking too long, and every time they brought it up it bummed because out, bc I HATE they’re being rushed to make content! Idk who thought a Zelda randomizer was going to be less than like, 8 episodes anyway! But that just suggests to me they’re not enjoying playing the game as much as they could be, bc they’re being bitched at about it behind the scenes. Plus other random, too-businesslike things I smell just bc I’m an employee of a big business, and like, I can TELL they don’t have as much freedom as they should have, and it sucks.
like, I really don’t like getting into the “AH was better when it was just the OG cast 😤”, because those people annoy me (I don’t know why they just don’t stop watching if they just complain every video how they hate current AH? But that’s a can of worms I don’t want to open), BUT I do hate what big business has been doing to them, I hope Matt settles into the path that is right for him, the AH members someday gain their freedom back, and WB burns in hell. It’s 3:30am, I got a bit off track with this post, goodnight.

After seeing more information come out, Big Yikes, looks like RT has been shitty even before WB sunk their claws in. I know back in 2013 they would make shitty, offensive jokes and call people babies for being upset when they were called out on them, but as I said before, one of the biggest things I’m thankful for is the vast majority of them [AH] have matured, and realized slurs aren’t funny. The community still, for the most part, gets on my nerves for MANY reasons, but I never get too into any kind of community anyway (so I can actually enjoy the media I’m consuming). All that being said, this looks like the beginning of a real big garbage fire, and I just hope all the good RT/AH people find their way to a happier life, and all the shitty assholes get what’s coming to them.

15 Toons I want copies of co-existing as originals in the crossover-verse
Here's my take of which toons I think should have a second co-existing in the crossover-verse for the sake of justifying certain fans' desires that defy canon's laws.
1. Suki Lane (Sing 2) - I have to start with her for obvious reasons. Not only to have a loophole for Illumination's sexuality choice for her or love-interest choice for her, but also because she's depicted as a critic voiced by a comedian who's humor style is pretty raunchy, so I imagine people would think her to be against fan redos of movies, crossovers, or interspecies relationships (because hybrids are ugly in real life, and even cartoons have to uphold that rule). Why, I bet Chelsea Peretti doesn't like the new Chip & Dale film, despite her friend Andy Samberg being in it.
Hence I created Esme "Sukey" Gwendolyn Langley Lane, changing a couple details to avoid getting sued, not only to be with a shorter guy who's not a beefcake, but be neutral to fan redos and crossovers, and supportive of interspecies relationships. And she takes Suki's place in filming fanmakes, with her shapeshifting boyfriend in one of his forms, Baxter Crescent, taking that form in anything featuring the idea of her being paired with a koala.
2. Furrball (Tiny Toon Adventures) - half want Furrball to remain as he was usually depicted in the original show: a doormat to Sylvester or non-anthro pet who's usually silent despite how he goes to school like an anthro kid; the other half want him to be evolved from the original show's run, catching onto the "cats are evil or scum" trope, and wanting to be abused no longer.
And also for 32 years (or a shorter amount, depending on which fans discovered the show), an amount of fans (myself included) wanted him and Fifi to hook up (even though another amount want her with Hampton), with the former getting used to her odor like Penelope seemingly got used to Pepe's, after getting to know each other better.
So I thought there should be a second Furrball who's given up doing anything WB tells him to, just to live a happy, healthy life without people mad at him, and ends up with a 2nd Fifi. All while the other Furrball does what WB tells them to do.
Of course, I also feel like there should be a small clone supply of Furrballs to go with whomever other fans prefer him with, like Bimbette, Rita from Animaniacs, AnimatedTigerGirl's OC Zelda, and others. I plan to reference it someday.
3. Fifi La Fume (Tiny Toon Adventures) - to satisfy those who prefer her evolved from liking only hunks and prefer with Furrball, while the other does as WB tells her to.
4. Penelope Pussycat (Looney Tunes) - many think she should have her entire world revolve only around Pepe and have no life outside of him, but I'm actually someone who imagined her having a life outside of him while still having interest in him. It's what SHOULD HAVE BEEN in Space Jam: A New Legacy.
So, to keep everyone happy, I think there could be one Penelope who goes down with Pepe, while the other Penelope is more open and has an American/British accent (as I and Draco have thought), varying depending on which project she's in, being a surrogate mother to one of the Furrballs, and being in a relationship with either Sylvester, Lola (if she and Bugs decided to remain friends), or single.
5. The main cast of Winnie the Pooh (Pooh himself, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, Lumpy, Kessie, and Eeyore)
6. Rita (Oliver & Company) - so Dodger and the original Rita would still be together
7. Oliver (Oliver & Company) - to justify my pairing between the older him and the second Rita; while the first Oliver is with whichever female cat like Marie or Sagwa.
8. Fox (Skunk Fu) - If Cartoon Saloon actually comes through with their Skunk Fu film, odds are they'll place her with Rabbit which will make fans happy, except for fans like me, so I thought a second Fox to be a significant other for Skunk or another nice, cute animal character would make those like me feel better.
9. tie between Copper and Dixie (The Fox and the Hound) - to justify the CopperxDixie ship without tearing the first Dixie away from Cash and making it seem not sick
10. tie between Spike and Applejack (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) - to justify the Applespike pairing so many MLP fans prefer
11. tie between Kion and Jasiri (The Lion Guard)
12. tie between Rajah and Jasmine (Aladdin) - to justify a weird idea I had of Jasmine who has this were-feline curse she lives with where she's human by day and feline by night and is married to an anthro version of her pet tiger who loves her more than the suitors
13. Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic the Hedgehog) - Of course, I don't mean there would be an Ugly Tails, lord forbid. I mean an older version of him and to justify some of the pairings Tails gets with few of the fictional gals, Sonic or xover.
14. tie between Fievel Mousekewitz and Bridget (An American Tail) - while the original Fievel would have Cholena for his significant other, this other aged up Fievel would have another Bridget for his significant other while the first Bridget's still with Tony. Thank 15willywonka for the AU idea.
15. tie between Tom and Sabrina the Poodle (Tom & Jerry) - I read one meta/fourth wall fic that's a crossover between Tom & Jerry and Tiny Toons with the T&J cast visiting Acme Acres. Fifi and Furrball are a thing there, but at the same time, Sabrina is engaged to Spike and Tom has one of his previous girlfriends as his significant other. I just couldn't help myself and want there to be copies of them married with the fan-daughter thefriendlycitizen gave me.
Okay, I know it's cheating since most of the squares are filled with more than one, and those ones are AU couples I have a soft spot for but I don't know what else to add for the remaining squares.
Others:
Skippy and Maid Marian (Disney's Robin Hood) - a same-age couple while the first Robin and Marian are married with the still-young original Skippy as their closest friend
Yakko, Wakko and Dot Warner (Animaniacs) - to be around, visiting the world between 2000-2019 to keep up with the originals' not knowing

Batman Begins (2005): Who Needs A Full Color Spectrum Anyway?
Hey, you shout, Batman isn’t an X-Men character! He’s not even in the same universe!
No, but he’s from A comic book universe. Listen, there’s a finite number of X-Men movies and I’m not going to retitle this blog so...let’s keep it moving.
I’m going to exploit that poor excuse for a subject change and tell my biggest memory of seeing this film. I went with a high school friend, one of those guys that just never grew out of being a high school kid, and our reactions could not have been more different.
Me: Oh I liked that.
Him: You liked that? That?! What we just watched? That was not a Batman movie. At all!
What followed was an extremely angry trip to Hollywood Video culminating with him tossing a VHS of Batman Returns in my lap and declaring it was “a real Batman movie.” What caused him to be so upset over this, you ask? What caused him such anger and distress over a movie most people agreed was a pretty great if flawed take on Batman? A reboot that boosted the character’s appeal eight years after Batman & Robin had effectively ended it?
The goddamn Batmobile.
To his credit, it’s the weakest redesign in the movie. Against his credit, he also insisted that this was supposed to simply be a prequel to lead into the 1989 Batman. As though WB was REAL eager to remind everyone of the previous franchise. Looking back, its hard to see the movie as anything other than a hard reboot of the entirety of the franchise. I don’t think anyone predicted how much this was going to impact popular culture but, in 2005, comic book movies were only beginning to dominate the movies. X-Men and Spider-Man had opened the door but the majority of comic movies outside of those two franchises were instantly forgettable. And we hadn’t been blessed with Last Stand or Spider-Man 3. While Batman Begins rightly deserves to be remembered as a turning point, it’s by no means perfect. The biggest gripe I remember people having was Katie Holmes, but I’m also very sure that was motivated partly by general mysogyny and mostly Tom Cruise having an extremely public yearlong meltdown. It’s a gift to us all that, in the years since, they have divorced and he has dedicated himself to dying on screen in a Mission Impossible movie.
Working off my own memories, I think Nolan was working off of other blueprints more than the fanboys would like to admit. X-Men and Spider-Man had already trimmed a great deal of fantastical elements in the page-to-screen transfer. The X-Men, as I’ve discussed, went to space every other comic. Sam Raimi, rather than explain how a disturbingly aged teenager built space-age webbing in his garage, just had him fart his webbing out of his wrists. Nolan saw these changes and asked, what elements would have to occur to create a Batman? He doesn’t just display the genesis of a superhero, he shows us the different environmental factors of Gotham that would make a Batman necessary. Poverty, corruption, loss, it helps sell it when we eventually see the Batman on screen that this is a city that’s been used until there’s almost nothing left. The movie shows predators on the ground, as in Carmine Falcone, and up above the city, such as Rutger Hauer’s shady William Earle. It’s a mark that previous Batman movies missed; corruption functions best when it’s coming from both angles.
Looking forward to this one.

Half-awake, you rub your dry eyes and yawn. Your team, under the command of Izou, is headed East towards Pelican Lake, a body of water surrounded by mountains surrounded by more water surrounded by… Actually, you’re not so sure yourself.
But you made sure to get up early despite your hangover because your shift was about to begin in the observation
Izou handpicked you out of the original Spade Pirates after seeing your potential.
You open your bag to get some fresh change of clothes. Instead, you were surprised to see a familiar yellow shirt-blazer. That’s weird. What the hell happened last night?
Unfolding Ace’s shirt, you try it on. It’s a little big on you and it smells like mangoes and ash. You feel good, it's perfect for the chilly morning. His shirt is comforting.
Pressing it down neatly to your body, you notice there’s something in the inner pocket.
Hm, odd. There’s a piece of paper inside. You take it and see paper folded in three with this written on the outside:

You open the letter to see red ink. You smile. He must’ve slipped the shirt in your bag during the going-away party last night.

“Despair” and Dean and Cas
Well well well, winning is my favorite thing.
As usual, this is going to be as long as hell. And fair warning, it’s extremely emotional.
So here it is, the thing that we have been barrelling towards for years, literally years.
Just want to point out this. Also, I will NEVER allow someone to speak negatively about this writing group, EVER.
Team Free Dads starting off the episode is so sweet, so scary. Cas’ calming, Dean’s fear, Sam’s desperation, really just hammering home how much they love Jack, how his pain is pain for them, how losing him is unbearable.
“I can’t stop this. I’m coming apart. I don’t want to hurt you. Don’t let me hurt you.”
Oof. If you’ve ever question whether Jack is a Winchester, this line should shut that shit down for you.
When I tell you I was PISSED when Billie sent Jack to the Empty to EXPLODE????? PAIN.
“Yeah the Empty can’t come to earth, not without being summoned.”

The fact that they only had Jack in limbo for like five seconds was great for my heart health, thank u very much Bobo.

Man, Sam and Dean’s growth. The way that they’re able to, idk, actually speak on how they feel without death looming or fear or pain. It’s just a conversation, just an honest conversation of Dean admitting his mistakes, admitting how he felt. Admitting that he fucked up, and Sam forgiving him for it.

Also...hunters and their “dates.” Two hunters who are happily together, who are happily fighting monsters. Hm. Sounds like a Saileen/Destiel parallel to me boys.
You ever wish Cas would look and the mirror and take the great advice he gives others? Because I do. He’s always tried to be “useful” for Sam and Dean, for Jack, always tried to make sure that he’s useful enough that they keep him around. But what he doesn’t understand, what he’s never understood, is that they need him because of who he is, not because of what he contributes.
Remind y’all of anything?

And then, Sam’s realization. Eileen.
Did I begin full tilt screaming no in my apartment when he said her name? Who’s to say?
How can a lock screen cause me this much pain????
Okay but: Charlie loses Stevie, Sam loses Eileen. Clue Number 3.
I feel like I don’t talk enough about how much Sam loves Eileen. About how obvious it is that they are endgame, about how happy he is when he talks about her. This just feels like a blow to the stomach, but we’ve barely even started.
Sam immediately shifting into protective leader mode? He is the love of my life.
Dean’s simple nod, like it’s a given? Enough to do me in right there.
This is another episode where it’s just so clear that Sam is the leader of the North American hunters. Everyone knows him, everyone is willing to follow him. He’s knowledgeable and kind and fair and just and an incredibly capable fighter. Once again, I don’t believe his work on earth is done.
Can we also please talk about how FRIGHTENING IT WAS for Jack to kill that plant??? I don’t really have much of a comment on it because I was literally just like ?????
With Billie saying that it’s Chuck, the way that people were dusted, very similar to Becky and Amara, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised, especially with Donna getting taken off the board. It’s like I said last week, I don’t buy that he’s taken himself off the board, he’s too invested in the unraveling of this story to take a step back. He’s gotta break them before he can defeat them, that’s the only way.
And here we go, into one of the most painful and surreal things I will ever write about.
Dean’s speech. His guilt, his regret. The shame of not only trapping himself, but the pain, the horror of trapping Cas.
“I just lead us into another trap. All because I, I couldn’t hurt Chuck. Because I was angry and because I just needed something to kill, and because that’s all I know how to do.”
“Dean-”
“It was Chuck all along. We never should have left Sam and Jack, we should be there with them now. Everybody’s gonna die, Cas. Everybody. I can’t stop it.”
His narrative arc. Tied up in a bow.
“She’s gonna get through that door.”
“I know.”
“And she’s gonna kill you and then she’s gonna kill me. I’m sorry.”
Cas smiles.
Cas knows. He knows what’ll get them out of this, and he knows that he would do anything in this Universe for Dean Winchester. The human man he fell for.
“When Jack was dying, I made a deal to save him.”
“You what?”
“The price was my life. When I experienced a moment of true happiness, the Empty would be summoned and it would take me forever.”
“Why are you telling me this now?”
“I always wondered, ever since I took that burden, that curse, I’ve wondered what it could be, what my true happiness could even look like. I never found an answer, because the one thing I want, it’s something I know I can’t have.
“But I think I know, I think I know now...happiness isn’t in the having, it’s in just being. It’s in just saying it.”
“What are you talking about, man?”
The most selfless thing Cas does in this, and he does a lot of selfless things, is to tell Dean Winchester how impossibly good he is. To tell him that he is worthy, to tell him that he is adored.
“I know, I know how you see yourself, Dean. You see yourself the same way our enemies see you. You’re destructive and you’re angry and you’re broken and you’re daddy’s blunt instrument. And you think that hate and anger, that’s what drives you, that’s who you are. It’s not. And everyone who knows you sees it, and everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love. You raise your little brother for love, you fought for this whole world for love. That is who you are.
“You’re the most caring man on earth. You are the most selfless, loving human being I will ever know. You know, ever since we met, ever since I pulled you outta Hell...knowing you has changed me.
“Because you cared, I cared. I cared about you, I cared about Sam, I cared about Jack, I cared about the whole world because of you.
“You changed me, Dean.”
“Why does this sound like a goodbye?”
Dean’s greatest fear. His fear of those loving him leaving him. The terror of being alone.
“Because it is.
The head shake. Don’t love me. Don’t love me if it means you’ll leave me, don’t love me, everyone I love leaves me. Don’t leave me. Don’t love me. Don’t leave me.
“Don’t do this, Cas.”
Just like I always thought. One last look at Dean before the Empty takes him.
“Cas-”
“Goodbye Dean.”
And Dean is left, broken on the floor, unable to answer Sam’s calls, unable to do anything. It doesn’t matter to him that Chuck has wiped everyone out, it doesn’t matter to him that Sam and Jack might need him. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter, because the thing that mattered still hangs on his lips, still waiting to be said, and now he won’t get another chance to say it.
The fact that I am writing this, even with all my spec, with all my analysis of the writers’ room, of their text, of the way Dabb and co had approached this story, nothing could have ever prepared me for this. Nothing could have prepared me for a three and a half minute, uninterrupted scene where Cas confesses not only that he loves Dean, but that he has always loved him.
I talk a lot about how these writers don’t get the credit they deserve. Unfortunately, from most of this fandom, they never will. We will likely never know the fights with the network they had, the steps backward they had to take, the way they had to beg and fight and claw to get this on the screen. But they did it. They did it for these characters, they did it for this dinosaur of a show, and yeah, they did it for us.
It was not easy, I can promise you, to get this greenlit. They had to fight for this, they likely had to call in favors and make threats and quite literally put their careers on the line (you may scoff at that, but WB is a BIG company, especially in the TV/movie world) for this story. This story of Dean and Cas, the man dragged out of Hell and the angel who fell for him.
I have tons more to say, and will likely have several more posts about this, but I want to leave all my babes who are worried that that was the end for Dean and Cas with some takeaways.
Sam is missing Eileen. Dean is missing Cas. That is no longer a fun subtextual parallel, that is it for them. Their respective endgames are missing, and they will not know their peace until they get them back. Chuck will not win. That’s not the story being told, and right now? He’s winning. He’s broken them, left them with nothing, left them with an empty world and a hole in each of their hearts where their person (or angel) used to be.
Our show is going to end with “contentment.” “Contentment” isn’t from Sam and Dean being filled with grief and hitting the open road. It isn’t Sam getting Eileen back and leaving Dean with no one. “Contentment” is Sam and Eileen, Dean and Cas. Together.
