shadow and bone thoughts now that i'm done with s2

i see many people complaining about the plot or writing but even though crooked kingdom is one of my all time favorite books, i honestly don't remember a lot because it's been like 7 years since i read it lol, so i don't really know what i think about the writing/plot. especially since i haven't read shadow and bone and don't really care about those characters. and also there's a reason why i very rarely watch american shows anymore, so it somehow feel hard to judge american shows anymore. but i did like it.

yes most of the relationships felt rushed but that makes sense because there are only of 8 eps and netflix is known for cancelling shows before s3. so i kinda understand why the creators did what they did.

i'm annoyed that the show made it seem like it's only kaz that has trauma surrounding touch because from what i remember about the books, inej is certainly also traumatized.

i'm also annoyed that jesper's bisexuality is kinda erased in the show. well not erased, he's still bi, but people who haven't read the books/aren't apart of the online fandom, is just gonna assume he's gay since he's only been seen hooking up with men. this is why i kinda wish it was a woman he hooked up with in s1.

it was quite nice seeing the two queer couples happy and alive while the straight couples were miserable asdfgfdsadfg

i don't really get the mal hate? i didn't really understand his decision after he was brought back to life but he's genuinely just a nice guy (a bit boring, but that's just my opinion about everything with mal/alina/darkling tbh lol)

i felt like there wasn't enough with the crows in the last two episodes, but also i'm biased

great acting all around, especially by freddy

I know I shouldn’t be surprised but every time a tv show or movie based on a book gets made the collective fanbase of whatever the fuck it is forgets what the word Adaption means

#watching shadow and bone #fyi it’s the way things change to survive in a new environment #movies and tv shows are not the same as books #some things need to change or be modified to fit the new medium #that does not mean the changes are bad #it may potentially mean that you like them less #but most people see something different and go ‘bad!’ without actually thinking about it because they’re so loyal to the source material #like the source is still there! you can read it any time you want!#besides the fact that it’s necessary to make it work within the new medium it’s exciting when you don’t know for sure what’s gonna be the #same and what might change
