It's kind of funny how the epic fight with Othohan Thull and FCG's death didn't motivate me to catch up with cr but then AABRIA IYENGAR and my beloved crownkeepers burst through the door big yellow bird vine style and then I just had no choice

I think Coffee Prince is THE first queer story I've ever watched! I watched in my early teens and back then, i loved it so much, because it was a love story, where a man falls in love with a woman, not knowing that she's a woman and my younger self was mostly like "oh my god it's true love!! He fell in love with her not knowing she's a woman!!" But i loved it so much more when i rewatched it, in my late teens because at that point, i was mostly aware of the queerness of it all and now I'm fully aware of it, like that was a story about a "straight" man falling, hard, for this young man he just met! He was suffering and in denial, that man was crying over the thought of being gay and then... he just fully accepted it and was more than willing and happy to run away together!!! He is a queer icon!!
This is probably one of the best ways to present a queer story because, one, it can slip right through censorship laws, i watched it, 10 years ago, on tv, in the fucking middle-east, dubbed in Arabic!! (i haven't seen the original version but I'm willing to bet some stuff was cut in the version i watched). Two, it kinda will confuse homophobic/ignorant people on what to feel, because the audience knows she's a woman throughout the entirety of the show, so people will interpret it as "he fell in love with her, not knowing she's a woman" NOT as, "he fell in love with a man, who turned out to be a woman"
Here's the thing, without internet and tv, most people are completely unaware of the outside world, not just their country, but the outside of their everyday life and when i watched that show as a kid, i didn't see the queerness of it (i had no idea what the word or the concept of gay is) and now i can easily recognize how that story is one of the biggest reasons to make me, a young middle-easterns teenager who's raised religious (kinda..) understand and accept queerness so relatively easily!
So yes, more stories like this, they are groundbreaking!!

right, so, you know how ten and donna are so close they're considered practically siblings? I think that should apply to eleven and amy as well
they're not quite the same type of dynamic, but I sincerely believe that (where ten and donna were on more equal footing with one another) eleven DEFINITELY sees amy as his little sister and, him, her older brother
I've been trying to figure out WHY eleven and amy were so special to me even if I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of his run and I think this is it
I may be wrong bc the only thing going through my brain rn is angels take manhattan and god complex butttt the way he treats her and the way she wholeheartedly believes in him makes me think of that sort of relationship. like they're not sibling-siblings but they're best friend-siblings. if that makes any sense at all
the way the eleven tolerates having rory tag along on their adventures cause he makes her happy (and eventually grows to care about him too), the affectionate/reassuring forehead kisses, how I genuinely believe that if he could've eleven would've done literally anything to get her back, and him being SOO protective of his amelia "you always get what you want" pond. that is his little sister!!! his precious pond!!!
plus the constant bickering. rory tries to say a single word and the doctor shuts him down so quick, but with amy it's just that constant back and forth bc he loves her and it's fun to play fight
he's like her weird, adopted older brother that keeps going off on adventures and who no one else really likes, but she loves him to bits and he would do absolutely anything for her

rewatching haikyuu because that’s a comfort show fr! and the way oikawa calls kageyama “tobio chan” and atsumu calls kageyama “tobio kun” and akaashi is somehow ready with water for kageyama when he eats meat too fast and and and that’s their baby 🥹
kageyama is such a little fella in the show it makes me cry. the first time i watched it (when i was. 11.) i thought he was so cool but every time i have semi-annual rewatch im like AAAIUUUGHH KAGEYAMA HE'S JUST A BABY HOW COULD ANYONE EVER HATE HIM AAOUUUGHH . like he's soooo little. ill eat him
