It begins like this: Kim Hajin is stitching a bleeding forehead back together when his phone pings. In a scenario of crisis, he doesn't stop stitching for an impossible noise. But 10 minutes later, that same impossible noise. His throat squeezes with hope, his heart seems to scream 'finally'. It does not, truthfully, end there. But it feels like it when he opens the texts, searching for something that isn't there. It is a text, technically to him, but not for him. Still, still. Hajin presses his lips to his smartwatch, mouthing his words desperately. 'I will take what I can get.'
