The Man Upstairs (1958)
"Miss Grey! You keep saying that you're to blame, that you want to help! Well now's your chance, do you want to help or don't you?"
"Yes, of course I want -"
"Well, then tell them the story yourself, it will help them to understand better."

Bernard Lee is repugnant as the aggressive police#inspector who seems dead set on escalating events and cares nothing for Attenborough's vulnerable stranger; Dickie himself is astonishing#but takes a back seat for the second half as the film moves to concentrate on his fellow lodgers (a narrow array that might be meant to#represent society as a whole‚ one of the only parts of the film that doesn't quite work). a surfeit of great brit character actors all pull#their weight‚ but it's Australian Dot Alison who shines out as the tentative voice of kindness and understanding

Bess Wilde – Inspector Spacetime
From TV Tropes’ Inspector Spacetime Character Page Archive
Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: While the Third Inspector's post-metamorphosis hypochondria could be exasperating, Dr. Wilde's bedside manner was pretty frosty in general.
Bulletproof Fashion Plate
Informed Ability: Although the Inspector often talks up Bess's preeminence as a physician back in 20th-century Oxford, she never offers a medical opinion.
The Stoic
Thou Shalt Not Kill: With her adherance to the Hippocratic Oath, Bess is an Actual Pacifist compared to the Inspector's technical one.
This was used as the rationale for her departure between seasons seven and eight.

Suspect (The Risk, 1960)
"I'll be quite frank with you, Minister. Although I know nothing about politics, I've never felt that because I happened to be born in this country, it was the only country that mattered. I've tried to give it a fair return for what it has given me, and after that my loyalty is to the world. When you tell me it'd be treason to publish my work because some lunatic might use it to kill Englishmen, and I know that that stuff properly developed could save half a million lives outside this country, then I say it'd be treason to those half million if I don't."
