Ancient Rome - Sims 4 CC (5/5)

Hi friends,

Since I started to play with the Sims 4 trying to recreate Ancient Rome, I wanted to put in a single place all the CC I found (for myself, first of all, and for anyone who might find the list useful).

I am a historian of the Ancient World, so I am quite obsessed with historical accuracy (not excessively!)

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again? I actually wrote some assorted genfic one-shots for my Elden Ring OC, Lisinia. It has been a fun time trying to get into the atmosphere of the setting and also into Lisinia’s head. She’s much more no-nonsense than Dahlia is and very uninterested in romance. I would definitely try it again and perhaps at some other point in time, I’ll write another one-shot to add to that collection.

4. What piece of media inspired you the most? Skyrim. Skyrim. Skyrim. Skyrim. TOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

16. What were you go-to writing songs? I wouldn’t necessarily say that I have go-to songs for when I write. It really depends on my mood or what I want to listen to as I write…or if I am listening to anything at all. Recently, I have been really digging Kamazi Washington. If you like jazz, check it out.

28. How did you recharge between fics? Oh boy…I didn’t know the meaning of the word recharge until recently. I just kept going and going and going and going against my better judgement/knowing better than to do so. Sometimes I write other things or write something different than what my main focus is. Those aforementioned one-shots for Elden Ring were very helpful. I have also been playing a lot of BG3. (Too much BG3.)

30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024? I’d like to continue picking my way through my sequel, but I would also like to maybe write some more BG3. Maybe I will continue writing some one-shots with my other bearman obsession…and perhaps some f/f with Lae’zel. I might take a stab at that at some point.

To all my followers who read my Sanders Sides Skyrim AU: Song of the Dragonborn.

I’m having some trouble with who would follow what Religion. I already know a few.

- Virgil: Azura and Nocturnal, mostly Azura

- Patton: He’s a followers of the 8-(9) Divines and mostly prays to Kynareth.

- Janus: Sithus and the Night Mother with The Hist as his ideals, but not his religion. (It’s complicated, read the lore.)

However!

- Logan eludes me still, I’m not sure if he’d be the Nine Divines or if he’d be a followers of Hermaous Mora, daedric prince of knowledge, or something else entirely.

- Remus still makes me unsure as well, I know for a fact he’ll be a Daedric Worshipper, mostly because a) it’s Remus. b) majority of Orcs, at least in Skyrim, tend to follow a Daedric Prince. and c) He lives in Markarth, which has two Daedric quests in it, so in Lore it’d make sense. I’m not sure if I want him to follow Malacath, Prince of Sworn Oaths and Bloody Curses Molag Bal, Prince of Dominations, R*pe, and among other things as he’s the most controversial of the princes. or Namira, Prince of Cannibals and Decay. Do you guys have another others or do you think one of these would work?

- Then there is Roman, he’s a Thane of Windhelm, it’d be easy to make him a Talos Worshipper. And while that is apart of his ideals that Talos is one of the Divines, I feel like it’s kind of a cope out to slap him as that. And wonder if there is another religion he follows that would give him more depth?

- Finally, Thomas, It’s be easy to make him a Akatosh guy, as he is Dragonborn, or even Kynareth, like the greybeards. But... currently he is going through the Companion Quest line. he could easily become a werewolf and a follower of Hircine. Hell he could even be just a general Nine (8) Divines... But, I’m not sure, what do you all think?

Notes (Important): Keep in mine Religions in this wont’ just be flavor text, they will have some conflict and quests and some will even be main quests for Thomas to gain followers. My idea is Thomas right now is a ‘blank’ slate in terms of Religion and Worship, he knows of both sides, but hasn’t given it much thought. So, having Some who follow the Nine (8) and some who are Daedric followers, it’s put him into perspective of types of people. Granted no one in this AU is Unsympathetic, they are just people getting by. Janus may be an assassin, but he has morals, as does Virgil with being a thief. Even if Remus turned out to be a Molag Bal follower, I don’t think he’d be a r*apist, he just loves sex and is a total top along with being ruthless to his enemies.

So these things will be addressed and thought out, I want to really challenge myself with this series. Digging into Lore, characters mind set and growth, but I need some help.

Astrid - I was watching How to Train Your Dragon when I named her.

Ravio - Named after the character from A Link Between Worlds.

Virgil - Named after the character from Static Shock.

Durnehviir - Though my Dragapult is female, I had to name it after the ghostly dragon from the Skyrim DLC.

Agitha - Named after the self proclaimed bug princess from Twilight Princess.

Barret - He Gabe me trouble until I remembered the character from the Final Fantasy VII Remake (I’ve been playing it a lot). The guy with the gun hand.

Headcannon

Alright so we all know that Thomas plays video games, so I think perhaps each side would have a kind of vidego game that they would prefer to play.

Roman: Rpg's all the way. You create someone an become the hero of the game. You can probably find him slayin dragons and helpin out citizens within the Skyrim series or the Dragon Age series.

Logan: Secretly, he enjoys old school games, like mario and mariokart fer the Nintendo (generic, super, 64) games where you can rock it by figuring out how the course or level will always play out.

Patton: He's playin the sims. Creatin worlds, happy families, and peaceful neighborhoods. (He has one household of all four sides an thomas, designed to match the headspace) He also probably plays like 'Nintendo dogs an cats' fer the 3ds.

Deciet: Choice based games, especially games like 'Until Dawn' or 'Heavy Rain' where the results of the game are directly based on the choices an actions he takes as a character.

Remus: You would think Rpg's, yet no. Thats not him. He likes horror games with bleak outlooks. 'Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City', 'Outlast' yeah he's playin then.

Virgil: He doesn't like to admit it, but Virgil can feckin shred at 'Guitar Hero', he has all the leadin high scores on it....on every level, all the way to extreme.

Feel free to add yer opinion, but I was playin Guitar Hero, an it ran across my mind that Virgil would be the type to rock at it.

Sanders Sides gaming au

This started as a crack au, but I got way invested in it so here we go:

Logan:

Channel name: Logical

- He’s a twitch streamer who’s rather popular. He’s calm and practical, and people often say they watch him because of his deep soothing voice (kinda like wrax/u). He also have a youtube channel where he reposts some clips, but other than that it’s empty.

- He mostly plays survival game (his fav being Subnautica), but also games that “challenge” his brain (read: being able to snipe). He also do a lot of speedruns and osu.

- He has a job outside of his streams (idk exactly what) that bores him. That’s why he plays video games a lot. He decided he would stream because "I’m already playing way too much, why not showing it” (he lowkey wanted to flex on his skills).

- He doesn’t talk a lot during his streams.

- But he rages easily.

- He has merch, which are mostly mugs with his logo (the brain ofc) or shirts.

- He has piercings (I’m gay don’t judge me).

- He used to never show his face because he was scared people would be put off by his lack of reactions, but now he shows it in some streams.

Patton:

Channel name: Pawton

- He has a really wholesome youtube channel at 800k subscribers where he mostly plays cute game like Slime Rancher, Animal crossing or other nintendo game, Minecraft, the Sims, Stardew Valley, Pokemon etc.

- People love his positivity and puns.

- He’s also openly a furry and people draw fanart of his fursona.

- He can’t live off youtube yet because he doesn’t make sponsored videos.

- But he has a lot of merch, which are mostly posters, shirts and sweaters.

- He always has his camera on during videos.

- He plays VR in onesies.

Virgil and Roman:

Channel name: Viciously rad

- They are two friends from middle school that decided one day to record themselves. They have been on youtube for a fairly long time and are at 2 or 3 millions subscribers.

- They stream on twitch regulary, and then edit the videos to post them on youtube (they also post the VOD).

- They mostly do cooperation or fighting games (where they can rekt the other), or horror games. They also like to play the sims or other simulation games where they can ruin the game.

- They actually don’t live at the same place (but will move in together...)

- They use a program which allow to control one of their computer by the other (so they can play solo games together).

- They also do some solo streams but they rarely upload them on youtube.

- Their outro is Mooo! by Doja Cat because it was the only song they could agree on.

- Virgil’s fav games are Overwatch and Undertale. He likes to dig deep in lore and theories. Roman’s are Skyrim and Infamous Second Son (he projects a lot onto Delsin...).

- Virgil’s username in video games is usually D.stroy (he's a huge fan of D.VA) and Roman’s Princey.

- Virgil crushes hard on Logan and Patton. He has pretty much all of their merch and donates to them often. He also does commisions and have a few piercings.

- Roman has a seperate cover channel.

Deceit:

- He’s name is Damian, but he likes to call him Dantalion.

- He’s Logan’s roomate. He’s the cryptid of his channel since he’s often just a voice in the background or a shadow in a video.

- He becomes Patton’s editor later.

- Got a lot of piercings and some bodmods

Patton is the one to ask Logan to make a video with him. They did a puzzle / maze minecraft map. They worked so well together they continued to play together.

They all meet at a convention. This time it was Roman’s idea to play together. After that; they often team up in Overwatch (Patton is a mercy/ healer main, Virgil fills but loves to play tank/ D.VA, and Roman and Logan are the annoying dps). They also have a Minecraft server together (Roman often asks the mods to be able to grief Logan’s house).

They all get together after a while (Damian included) but they don’t plan on telling it to their followers.

MAIN SQUAD

Roman Rosewood

Obviously loves RPGs! Anything with a good story line really! Or has medieval fantasy aesthetic!

Skyrim, Diablo, Undertale, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Fallout, Red Dead Redemption, Undertales, Dragon Age, God of War Dark Souls, Assassins Creed, Earthbound, etc.

Played West of Loathing just so he could rip on it but actually ended up loving it and spending way to many hours playing. Then he found out there was a game called Kingdom of Loathing by the same creators and went down that rabbit hole as well.

He was iffy about getting into JRPGs but then Virgil convinced him to play Persona 5 and he absolutely fell in love with the music!

All the music in his phone is either from musicals or Video games!

Also really likes choose your own adventure games like Detroit: Become Human, Life is Strange, and Telltale Games

So much video game merch! Usually figurines because he likes to make little shelves and display cases for them.

He also really likes multiplayer games because he’s a social butterfly and likes to play with his squad.

Sucks at first person shooter games but still willingly plays Fortnight or Call of Duty or Left for Dead with his friends because he doesn’t want to be a drag and complain. But also they sometimes die in game in the most hilarious ways and it just leaves everybody wheezing.

Virgil Dante

Horror games, obvs!

All about that dark aesthetic!

Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Fran Bow, Sally Face, Resident Evil, The Witch’s House, Amnesia, Little Nightmares, Bendy and The Ink Machine, Alice: Madness Returns, SCP-Containment, Pony Island, etc.

Yes, he’s played all the Five Nights At Freddy’s games. It’s a good series and it isn’t his fault the fandom is bat shit crazy and full of ten year olds! Fuck you Roman!

Every time the Walking Dead comes out he knows he’ll end up crying by the end of it. He and the squad make and event out of it.

Japanese horror games are usually his favorite because they deal more with the psychological aspects of horror instead of the jump scares

So, yes, he’s also a fan of Corps Party and Fatal Frame

Also really good at first person shooters because he has a really steady hand (you usually have to when playing horror games least you want to restart the level) and it pisses Roman off to no end every time Virgil randomly headshots him.

Usually likes to by merch in the form of posters, t-shirts, or beanies. He only buys figurines if it’s a game he really, really likes.

At first didn’t know why people kept bugging him to play Doki Doki Literature Club but then he finally caved and...oh...that’s why.

Logan Mill

My boy loves puzzle and strategy games yo!

Legend of Zelda, Portal, Tetris, Unravel, World of Goo, Inside, Limbo, Pokemon, Shadow of the Colossus, StarCraft, Command and Conquer, Age of Empire, Heart of Iron, World of Warcraft, etc.

He likes Overwatch but doesn’t like playing with people online so he usual solos or asks the others to play. But that too usually ends in chaos.

Hates rage games because he gets frustrated easily and has broken at least four keyboards and two controllers

He still plays them anyways because he can beat it damn it! Just give him a minute!

Enjoys the God of War series despite all the mythological inaccuracies

He plays a lot of Minecraft to relax or destress and has build beautiful works of architecture and sometimes entire cities.

He thought it was stupid and childish and was embarrassed about it for a long time until the squad came over to his house one day uninvited and caught him playing. He was getting ready for them to make fun of him but they instead gushed about how AMAZING everything looked and how TALENTED he was for building all himself.

Logan ends up showing them how to play afterwards and they work together to make weird sculptures and complex tunnels underground.

He likes practical merch like backpacks, coffee mugs, pencil holders, notebooks, ect. as well as a few t-shirts and novelty ties.

Yes, he does collect Pokemon cards!

Patton Adley

Silly dating sims, farming games, and any cute game really! Plus a few side scroller games!

Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Slime Rancher, The Sims, Dream Daddy, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Monster Prom, Hatoful Boyfriend, Scribblenauts, Night In The Woods, Ni Nu Kuni, etc.

Big Nintendo fan!

He made the mistake of playing Doki Doki Literature Club without reading the warning tags and regrets it immensely...still a good game though.

He did the same thing with Huni Pop but that one made him laugh more then anything and he kind of got addicted to it. Then he found out there was a sequel called HuniCam so he went down that rabbit hole too.

He likes a lot of phone app games too like Cut the Rope, Neko Atsume, and Candy Crush.

Loves trashy dating app games, he thinks they’re so funny and cheesy

He was addicted to Mystic Messenger for a long while

Just because he has his preference doesn’t mean he won’t try other games too, Logan got him hooked on World of Warcraft (though really he did that to everyone), Virgil showed him Hollow Knight, and Roman suggested he play Undertales.

Prefers merch in the form of plushies and key chains!

He likes to bake and decorate cookies, cakes and pastries in the form of his favorite video game characters.

RED SQUAD

Duncan [Deceit] Adley (Patton’s twin)

A lot of first person shooter and combat games!

Doom Series, Super Smash Bros, Mortal Combat, Halo, Fortnight, Grand Theft Auto, Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Half-Life, Team Fortress, Destiny, Wolfenstein, Bio Shock, Splatoon, PUBg etc.

Patton was the one that introduced him to Splatoon and he won’t admit that it’s actually super fun.

Doesn’t mind story driven games and RPGs but he really just wants something he can zone out to and relax

He likes to troll people online, mainly assholes picking on little kids who just want to play.

He once teamed up with a group of kids on Call of Duty solely for the purpose of collectively kicking the asses of this groups of so called “real gamers” that were being jerks.

Has memorized all the combos! He doesn’t have time to sit and look up a cool finishing move, he needs it now!

Always mains the weakest/most useless character in fighting games and still manages to kick everyone’s ass.

Doesn’t have a preference in merch and usually grabs whatever he likes be it figurines, t-shirts, posters, plushies, or whatever, so long as he likes the game it comes from.

Has several tattoos from his favorite games

Emile Picani

Classic retro games, cartoonish games, and Nintendo are his jam broham!

Mario, Classic Sonic, Paper Boy, Transylvania, Spyro, Pac Man, All the Saga Disney games, Duck Hunt, Mario Kart, Galaga, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, Secret of Mana, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, etc.

Absolutely fell in love with Shovel Knight when it came out!

Remy got him into all the indie pixel games: Towerfall, Terraria, Owlboy, Hotline Miami, Papers Please, Celeste, One Shot, etc.

Duncan was the one that introduced him to Cuphead and the usually play it together and see how far each of them can go without dying.

The game is difficult but the art is still so breathtaking!

Likes the occasional psychological thriller game

Bet Virgil showed him Alice: Madness Returns and Doki Doki Literature Club (after he’s played it of course)

Likes plushies and figurine merch with the occasional poster and coffee mug.

Likes to doodle a lot of his fav video game characters and cartoons and is actually really good at it. He helped design most of Duncan’s tattoos.

Remy Knightly

Likes a lot of indie games and old online flash games!

The Stanley Parables, Oxenfree, Inside, Firewatch, Super MeatBoy, The Binding of Issac, Donut County, Henry Stickman series, Impossible Quiz, Crush the Castle series, Hyper Light Drifter, etc.

He always gets everybody hooked on one game or another

He convinced everyone to play Undertales so for like a month they all went through a HUGE Undertales faze.

Was the actual, ACTUAL one that showed Duncan Cuphead because he knew the dork would be reminded of Emile because of the animation and would want to show it to him and play multiplayer (*cough* subtle matchmaker *cough*)

(Do not be fooled, he is a pinning boy himself)

Weeds out through all the indie horror games for Virgil and recommends what he thinks are the best ones.

Same thing with Logan and his puzzle games, he’s usually is able to find very strange ones and Logan seems to likes those best.

Obviously has a lot of merch in coffee mug and thermal form as well as a few key chains.

Occasionally streams on Twitch with Duncan and Emile (sometimes inviting the main squad too), they’re commentary is usual hilarious.

Top 15 favorite video games: part 2.

7. Bioshock

I remember first reading about this game in the pages of Game Informer and being fascinated by the story and the environment of what was described. I had no idea how good it was until I launched up the game and finally took that first decent into Rapture. The claustrophobic environment, visual aesthetic of a dilapidated dystopia and the enemies being remnants of once good people were all an amazing experience. The story and characters were amazing, and the idea of an underwater city built to try and be free of any ideology or morality was fascinating, and finding out exactly how the city fell apart and collapsed under its own “greatness” was a very unique experience.

6. God of War (PS2)

This game was a birthday present when I was 15 and I loved it, I love Greek mythology and I love action games, so this was an amazing gift. The opening of the game is one of the best I’ve ever played, and the boss fights are some of my all time favorites. The music in this game is incredible, and I love the accurate representation of the Greek gods being complete fucking assholes and ruining lives because they just don’t care. Kratos is a great anti-hero (or villain, ether one is fair) and the Blades of Chaos are a really unique video game weapon. The sequels are amazing but this one holds a special place in my heart.

5. Devil May Cry 3

Another birthday present, this one from the year before, this game was a very interesting experience for me; I’d never seen such a difficult game, or one so anime inspired. This game oozes goofy, over the top fun and demon slaying is always fun. The combos and weapons in the game are fantastic, and the story might be a big generic; but the game never takes itself seriously enough for that to be an issue. The characters in the game are great and Dante and Virgil being brothers who are enemies is a fun dynamic. This game also has some fantastic boss fights they really make you have to master your timings and attacks.

4. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

I fucking love Star Wars, I fucking love RPGs, and I fucking love good stories and characters; and this game has all of that. The story of this game is one of my favorites in anything, not just video games but all media, and the Revan twist is something that I didn’t see coming and really blew me away the first time I played this game. I’ve probably played through the story 7 or so times and I still love it, Bioware is at its best here and the character interactions and your decisions effecting everything in the game and you being able to ruin entire planets with your decisions really makes you feel like what you are doing is important to the galaxy. HK 47 calling everyone a “meatbag” is endlessly hilarious, and might be the first sassy Star Wars robot. I was at a con recently and got an autograph of Jennifer Hale (Bastila Shan) and its something very special to me in large part because of this game.

3. Mortal Kombat (2009)

Mortal Kombat 9 was such an amazing experience when it first came out. The past 5 Mortal Kombat games had been 3D, and had really suffered in quality because of it. The stories and characters had become terrible and the franchise was dying. Then came Mortal Kombat 9, or just Mortal Kombat as its actually called. The first 2D game in the franchise since the good old days of UMK3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, it was a reboot of the franchise that still used everything that had come before to set up the story. Knowing the old games was a benefit to the twists and turns of the story and altered timeline, but not essential to it. This was also the re-invigoration of the tournament scene for the MK games, which was a very welcome return. The roster of this game is damn near perfect, with the dlc adding an old favorite, the only good character from Deadly Alliance, Freddy motherfucking Kreuger, a new character that was a lot of fun, and I had the PS3 version so I also had Kratos which was awesome. Everything in this game represented a return to form and a new beginning for a franchise that desperately needed it. Mortal Kombat X and 11 have both been fantastic as well, but I chose 9 because of not just it being a fantastic game, but what it did for the series.

2. Dark Souls

I love dark fantasy and I love armor and weapons in video games, and this game has that as well as fantastic combat, and some amazing gothic horror as well. The bosses in this game are some of the best in any game and the game may be punishingly difficult, but the feeling of accomplishment when you finally get over some massive hurdle you were stuck on or finally slay a powerful boss that had been using your body as a punching bag is so incredibly satisfying. The sad state of the world in this game is also refreshing, instead of being some amazing savior sent to kill the big bad fucking up the world; your goal is ether to prolong the dying world for a little while longer, or end it and start something new. Killing gods that have been corrupted and used to be heroic adds a tragic twist to fighting bosses and makes killing them bitter sweet. I absolutely adore how you can make different characters and create builds around certain spells and weapons and I really wish more games would incorporate systems like that, even if they aren’t exactly balanced in any Dark Souls game. I also love how when you get past the opening area you can pretty much go where ever you want, the level design is almost perfect, with every location being somewhat connected to the next, often times looping in on each other.

2. (tie) Dragon Age: Origins

The second Bioware game on this list, it has all the roleplaying and great character writing of KotOR and more, a deep universe that they created; this game was in development for a long time to create a rich lore and new twist on fantasy tropes. The world really feels fleshed out and the characters feel like real people, with issues and hang ups and oddities that make them not just archetypes like most games have. Making decisions that effect characters and your companions can often be tough because you really care about what happens to them and how they feel, and how the world sees you. The gameplay isn’t perfect, its an odd mix of turn based and real time, but it still works pretty well. I put Dark Souls and Dragon Age in the same spot because I love them both for the same yet opposite reasons, if someone could take the roleplaying and world building of Dragon Age and combine it with the stats and combat and boss fights of Dark Souls it would create the perfect game for me.

1. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

I absolutely loved playing this game when it first came out, and I really wish I could get it to work on my PC so I could relive the glory that is this game. Skyrim is probably the more obvious pick for most people, but Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls and first Bethesda game; and Oblivion has better rpg mechanics and a better story in my humble opinion. I love the Dark Brotherhood questline in this game more than any other questline in any game ever, its so fucking good. The game looks like shit graphically now, but back when it came out it was gorgeous, and I remember the first time I played it on an HD tv I was blown away. The rich world and the big name actors being in it was a real treat, and having Sir Patrick Stewart play the king really gave that character the gravitas and importance that was needed to establish a character quickly. Sean Bean being his son was also fantastic, and brings this list pretty much full circle because of him being in Goldeneye. The armor and weapon designs are really good for the most part, and I love collecting all the Daedric artifacts and creating havoc with them. I still get excited when I hear the music from this game, and its orchestral quality really adds to the epic feeling of the game. There’s no one stealing sweet rolls or arrows to the knee in this one ether.

There are a lot of other games that I love and that were hard to leave off this list, but its pretty long as it is; and I’m sure eventually new games will take the place of some of these.
