Regret - Arthur x Guinevere (Lancelot x Guinevere)
Day 14 (write about regret) from this prompt list but also kinda for day 7 (Before | After | Hobby) of the @choicesjanuarychallenge.
Warnings & A/N: Spoilers. Wanted to explore, via my morning warmup, the idea of reflecting on your choice before and after. Plus, I love the idea that you can have zero regrets and still regret the might have been.
She looked at the crowd passing below, waving and shouting for her attention. It was very like the vision she had had in Merlin’s tower so many years ago. It’s a strange feeling to live something you feel you’ve lived before. She plastered a smile on her face as she waved to their subjects celebrating another year since the founding of the round table.
She could not regret the road that brought them here.
Her smile grew genuine as she felt his shoulder brush against her’s and his hand reached for her’s with a gentle squeeze. She looked up at him, smiling down at her. The same Arthur she had always known and yet, a very different one than she had first met. Years etched in the winkles on his face, memories held in the crinkle of his eyes, laughter shared held in the lines around his lips. The same Arthur she had met in that vision long ago and yet, not quite the same. Different cares weighing upon his shoulders, troubles they had foreseen and those they did not. Heartbreaks and joys that seemed to cross time regardless of their choices.
She could not regret the happiness they shared.
Yet she tasted his kisses upon her lips sometimes still. Those forbidden ones she had stolen in a dream in Merlin’s tower, when it was all too tempting for it to be just the two of them and she could pretend - for just a moment - that she wasn’t destined to be queen and he, her sworn sword. A glimpse of what felt like fate bending to their will before destiny stepped in and broke all three hearts.
She could not regret the stolen moment with him.
She had seen it all perfectly back then in that high tower - two paths laid out before her, two choices. It was as simple as go left or go right. Wasn’t it? This or that. One or the other. Choose with no regrets, she had told herself. Chosen with no regrets, she had convinced herself.
She did not regret the future she had chosen but she did regret the one she had to leave behind. Because the truth is, either way, there is always regret for what might have been.

Ok so I went to the dark side and bought vip for a day and omg...we can choose to team up with Radiance against Kieran!
!!!!!!!! We can choose to be bad!! Oh man, can you imagine what the story line would be like if this was the actual TCH book 1?? Like Radiance found you before Kieran does, and you can decide if you want to be attracted to Radiance or not, meet Kieran and decide if you want to help Radiance or fall in love with Kieran instead...I would choose Radiance over Kieran in a heart beat. We could overthrow the ugly old uncles, help Radiance see how important it is to keep the balance of the 2 courts, Radiance and Longclaw could repair their relationship...decide if we want to break Kieran's curse or not...I'm so interested to see what path this mc would look like if Radiance was an actual LI

Thought I'd make a post on my Kindred experience so far, so here is the MC I chose (I named her Hilda Morrigan (I tend to keep the suggested last names) I like the whole plant name thing they had going on but I didn't realize it until the end of ch.1; but after I went through the trouble of remembering the names of Sabrina's aunts, (from Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and got attached to the name, I just stuck with Hilda):
Although I went for this hairstyle, I was also torn between these 2, it took me way too long to decide on a hairstyle:
When I read the chapters as they came out, I was very undecided if I wanted MC to flirt with either of the 2 LI's but decided to restart and flirt with both & see which I liked better, let's just say that Rainier has been winning me over:
It doesn't hurt that he appears to have wings sometimes (unless it was just for effect, I don't think we've been able to ask about them):
Overall, I like the book so far, seen people compare it to Charmed (some hating that, some liking that) but I've never seen the show so 🤷♀️ I am simply enjoying what's currently out

So far, the plot seems intriguing enough. Still too early to call how it’s going to fall, but I have some cautious hope the plot will be interesting to follow. Usually, PB’s books with a historical time period/setting have been quite good to read, so I’m hoping they follow in the same vein as The Unexpected Heiress, Desire & Decorum, and A Courtesan of Rome. The art team also popped up, but they pop off in all books. Regardless of if they’re good or not, the art team has always been great at what they do, and I love them for that.
However, I still cannot for the life of me stand the MC’s faces. I’m over the Open Heart MC and the damn Bloodbound one too. I beg you, PLEASE, start using some new MC faces. I’m over it. We’re over it. The whole planet is over it.
Also, can we give the athletic female Love interest a different body type other than the sassy hand on hip pose? Why is it always that pose when it comes to a female love interest with any type of athletic background?
I also stand by the assessment that the MC could’ve been gender customizable. If the plot can be written in a way that supports a gender-customizable love interest, it can support a gender customizable MC as well. It might be too early to tell if having a female MC makes the most sense for the narrative, but if Lancelot and Arthur can work as females, I don’t see how the MC being a male is going to change the story drastically. I find that most female-only MC books PB has written can easily work with a male MC as well. But what do I know?
