Imagine being a housekeeper at Trinity Gate and your horror book club starts reading The Vampire Lestat and you're like oh yeah, that whole publicity stunt with the band in the 80s. And then you get invested and you're reading through the books and you get to The Vampire Armand, and realize the young people who live in this house--when they live there, they travel a lot--seem so much like the ones described on the pages, and how everyone's asleep during the day, and surely that's just a coincidence, New York is full of eccentric rich people with strange habits.
But you start to wonder... so maybe in your free time you dig up the tax records and see they're under some corporation you can't possibly hope to trace. And then you read Prince Lestat and remember when the house was clearly full of guests who never appeared while you were working, the kitchen always strangely devoid of food... The pieces click into place. You're not going to say anything, this is a damn good job, and it pays so much better than the housekeeping jobs at neighboring houses. Besides, it's a good gig to rarely see the people you're working for. And anyhow, maybe you're just making up stories.
But when you do see them, you can't help but notice some oddities... the parlor of their skin, the strange way they move or more unsettingly don't move. One night you see one of your bosses in the garden, and can't stop staring at how the moonlight glows against their pale skin...
And then you wake up at home. Your head is fuzzy. You must have gone out last night but you don't remember. You panic you're late for work but suddenly can't remember where you work or when. That's odd. You remember your name, your birthday, what year it is (although you thought it was a week earlier than your phone seems to claim). And your checking account is full. Fuller than you ever remember it being. You frown at your phone. And then your eyes dance over to your bookshelf. You see a stack of vampire books and feel uneasy. You take them to the library and donate them all, wanting them out of your home for reasons you can't explain.

ATTENTION OLD VAMPIRE CHRONICLES FANS.
I am looking for some fics written by a person called Wraith in the late 90′s, maybe 1999. They were called “His Hands Were Like Ice”, “His Eyes Were The Lake”, and (I think) “The Vampire Daniel”. They were posted on a message board called Rotoli Della Luna.
I think the first two were Louis/Armand, the third was Armand/Daniel and they were all absolutely beautiful.
Do you have them saved? Or better yet - are you the author? Would you like to share them? PLEASE contact me.

His lover’s tongue licks incessantly at his teeth; evidently this is his attempt at aiming to rid him of blood stained teeth, by licking them clean. Louis allows him to do this, sighing into Lestat’s mouth as he does and leaning to rest more heavily against the wall.
After a few more licks and another quick kiss, Lestat pulls back to look at Louis.
“Did you get it?” Louis asks and links his hands together around Lestat’s neck.
“I don’t know. Smile for me?” He receives a small but fond eye roll and peers into his mouth when his request is fulfilled. “There’s still a bit left, hold still.” He leans in to try and lick away the remaining bit of staining again, but it’s stubborn, and when Lestat moves back to inspect his work, he finds it’s still there. He narrows his eyes as he removes a hand from Louis’ waist and raises it up to his mouth.
Louis dodges his hand and a slight frown comes across his face. “What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to help de-stain your fangs. You’re welcome by the way.”
This time, when he moves his hand back to Louis’ mouth, Louis lets him. Lestat presses his thumb to his lower lip and pries his mouth open, looking him dead in the eye as he does. With Louis’ fangs now on full display, Lestat inches his thumb into his mouth and trails it up to where the blood stains the tooth, right by the gum line.
He starts to gently rub at the fang, when suddenly Louis lets out a soft whine and melts into the touch. Lestat stops and withdraws his hand, staring at him, the mossy green eyes of his husband staring back at him in bewilderment. Louis’ face flushes with the blood from his previous kill, but does nothing as he continues to stare at Lestat.
“What was that?” Lestat asks, surprised by the response to his action.
Louis doesn’t say anything, just very slowly shakes his head as if to say ‘I don’t know’.

Excerpt:
Al Shafar Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 30, 2022, 1:08 a.m.
“And so now? The only thing before me now is to go on, night after night. Detached. Unchangeable. Empty.”
Once again, Daniel listened to the recording of the final words spoken by Louis just a few hours before.
After all the drama, twists and turns, and painful remembrances and revelations, Daniel Molloy’s interview with the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac was now over. Finished.
Once he had spoken those final words, Louis had quietly risen from his chair in the sitting room and disappeared down a hallway, without so much as another word to Daniel.
The Vampire Armand, too, had only paused for a few moments after Louis had departed before taking his leave as well, also without a word to Daniel.
It was late, and Daniel was already way past when he should have already gone to bed. He was feeling drowsy and his Parkinson’s tremors were always worse at night when he was tired and still awake at such an hour.
However, the fact that the interview was now, officially over, didn’t feel like a relief. Or even some great unfinished accomplishment that he’d finally finished, and could cross off a bucket list.
No. What Daniel mostly felt about it all, at the moment, was a strange sort of . . . sorrow.
He didn’t feel celebratory about having uncovered all the hidden truths and obfuscation that had been thrown his way since the moment he walked through the door of the Dubai Penthouse. Usually when catching an interview subject trying to do such things, Daniel took an almost sadistic delight in upending the person in question, trapping them into at least facing the truth — a truth Daniel always made sure he knew as well, with facts on hand to back it up, before he did so — even if they remained loathed to admit that truth to him or themselves.
However, after all the truths that were finally revealed during Louis de Pointe du Lac’s interview, all Daniel felt about it now, was melancholy.
Daniel Molloy wouldn’t have believed it of himself just two weeks ago but after this interview, with Louis’ final words, Daniel felt himself almost wishing he’d just let Louis hold onto the illusions he’d built around himself about everything that had happened.
Especially regarding Claudia, his never-sister and forever-daughter. Claudia, who had broken Louis’ heart, (maybe even more than Lestat had), and who was now gone forever.
It was strange how, after everything, Daniel now felt a kind of kinship toward Louis. Even a real sense of trust now. He couldn’t say how or when it had come about, but it was there.
Louis had never lied to him about things in the beginning with any malicious intent behind it. Once his true memories began to reveal themselves, Louis didn’t try to hide from them anymore. He faced them, despite the utter pain it caused him to do so.
And Daniel couldn’t help but admire, and have his heart go out to Louis for that.
Which was very much not the same feelings Daniel held toward Louis’ erstwhile vampire companion Armand.
When the full truth about Armand’s role in Claudia’s fate had been revealed — specifically what acts he’d committed in the lead into her final fate — had been revealed, Daniel had listened to it all with the same cold and quiet dispassion Armand had displayed in his telling of it.
However, underneath that, Daniel had also continued to be confused by the five-centuries-old immortal, just as he had been after both he and Louis had revealed Armand’s true identity to him after the Rashid subterfuge.
Even before now, Daniel had wondered what Rashid’s true goal and endgame were regarding Louis — regarding all of this.
And now, after the interview was concluded, Daniel still didn’t know.
And not knowing, not having figured it out when he was now at the end of it all, continued to pick at his mind. None of it was helped by the fact that Armand had been playing a major role in all the lost memories Daniel had never known, until now, that he’d even forgotten. Events from after the failed first interview with Louis back in 1973.
Every time Daniel closed his eyes, it wasn’t only his forever-reoccurring dream he saw behind them now. The reoccurring dream — or more accurately, nightmare —  he’d been having off and on since 2005.
No. Now, along with that, it would also be some forgotten memory flooding back to him, returning to him, as well.
And he knew they were memories. They always felt more real, more tangible, than his dreams did.

An alternate universe retelling of the Devil’s Minion wherein Daniel sold his soul to the Devil for notoriety as a writer. Now, fifteen years later, Armand is the fallen angel who has come to collect it. Enraptured by the manuscript Daniel has yet to complete, Armand extends him an offer of borrowed time to finish it under his watchful eye.
Chapter 8 Excerpt
I simply stared at him, took him in, invisible and lurking entity that I was. I noticed the lavender haze fractals of his eyes, splinters of gray-blue, so rare a color. A bit puzzling. An unwelcome thought struck me, that perhaps they were anointed with such a unique hue because he might perceive the world quite like no one else. This gentle sentiment surprised me, and I convinced myself it was a neutral observation. And then our eyes met. His unseeing, of course, yet not altogether unacquainted.  I froze. His lips parted. A micro-furrow of the brow, a wedge revisiting familiar territory, reactivating frown lines he was too young to have. My skin crawled. Not with the usual maggots. Perhaps a bit more like snails with wings. Like hope given to vermin caked in mud. It was not love at first, of course. Nor was it, much to my chagrin, indifference.  I was certain then that I despised him. I am not so certain of that now. I speculate that I was curious about him, and that held some power over me, and that was too much to bear. So my strategy became that I must drive him mad. I would hunt Daniel as a lioness hunts. I would feast on him decadently. So slow and so sensuous he would mistake it for pleasure. I would provoke him to summon me. To need me. I would pry at the tissue of his soul with my little fangs until he was nothing but bones left to rattle in the wind. Until he was no more than dust dancing in all the vacancy that remained of  all he once was, could be. A waste of potential, a waste of life. But not a waste to me. My sustenance. Delicious.

The summer she turned 18, Gabrielle was sent to be outfitted by a local seamstress. The young woman was the daughter of a draper. She had avoided marriage despite being much in demand and took the measurements of many a nobleman with hardly an upward glance.
Gabrielle entered the draper's shop and looked around. The bolts of satin bored her. She fingered a coarse wool, fit for a riding cape, and realised she was being watched. The draper's daughter didn't look away and Gabrielle held her gaze.
"I want this" Gabrielle told her and glanced at the wool. "And how do you want it?" said the woman. "Close to the body, discreet, elegant in the saddle - a cloak".
The woman stepped towards her with her tape measure. "Please raise your arms". Gabrielle obliged. The tape measure slid taut across her back as the woman brought it under Gabrielle's armpits and across her breasts. They faced each other. Gabrielle smirked - "tighter". The woman inserted a couple of fingers under the tape and said "you'll need to breathe". Gabrielle looked wistful, "I find I can, quite freely".
"I find myself quite busy, were you to return this evening I could continue your measurements at your leisure" said the seamstress. "May I suggest you return in less elaborate attire? We will find ourselves unrestricted".
Gabrielle did return many times that summer - their appointments were rigorous, her closet overflowed.

Strange Happenings
I was listening to a podcast about Cattle Mutilations and then this happened. It's Armand/Daniel, circa 1975, a little more than 1000 words. I will put this in my short fic document on AO3 later.
Daniel’s blood went cold when he read the newspaper headline. He scoured the article and then checked that yes, this was the Denver paper, not some tabloid. He enjoyed a good tabloid story—and since learning that vampires were real, he suspected that some of the stranger things reported on in those rags were not entirely fiction—but this was a mainstream paper: cattle mutilations.
He looked at the grisly photo of a cow with its guts hanging out, parts of it surgically removed. Bile rose in his throat and he swallowed a swig of beer to wash it back down. Ash fell from his cigarette onto the paper and he wiped it away, ashing the cigarette in the ashtray on the small round bar table.
He poured over the article several times. The article said some people were suggesting it was prank, while others had more out-there theories. The article did not go into the specifics of what these strange theories entailed but something unnatural was definitely implied. Daniel wondered what that meant. According to the article, incidents like these had been happening for months in different areas around the state.
He was so absorbed in his reading that the movement of the chair across the table startled him and he jumped.
Armand laughed.
Bastard.
The vampire had sat, looking pleased with himself at how easily he’d managed to sneak up on Daniel. As if he didn’t do it all the damn time. Daniel glanced out the window. He hadn’t even realized it had gotten dark.
“What are you reading?” Armand asked, grabbing the newspaper and sliding it across the table before Daniel could answer.
Armand scanned the page and frowned. Daniel studied him, waiting for his reaction. It didn’t take long. Armand didn’t have to read like a mortal. He could just look at something and absorb the information. He had once insisted to Daniel that he was reading, just faster than a mortal brain could ever manage.
“Well? Is that your kind’s doing?”
Armand laughed again. “You think vampires would bother with such elaborate and silly games?”
You seem to enjoy games, Daniel thought before catching himself, remembering how easily the vampire could hear his thoughts.
“I have no interest in the blood of cows,” Armand said. “Nor do I desire to hack pieces off large animals.”
“No? Seems like it would be a fun weeknight activity for someone like you,” Daniel said, tone droll. He stubbed the butt of his cigarette against the ashtray and pulled the paper back in front of him. “Do you know what’s doing it?”
“Bored children, probably,” Armand said.
Daniel laughed. He couldn’t help it. What an absurd response! “You think kids are going out and hacking up farm animals?”
Armand shrugged. “The article suggests as much.”
It did say local teens were suspected in at least one of the incidents, a copycat prank. He tapped his fingers against the table. “So you don’t know of a creature that might do something like this?”
Armand’s expression shifted, darkening almost imperceptibly. He titled his head and examined Daniel for a long moment while Daniel tried not to squirm uncomfortably  under the scrutiny. Then he said, “I’ve never heard of such a creature and I cannot fathom what form they would take.”
Daniel sighed. He folded the newspaper up. “What about Bigfoot?”
Armand blinked. “Are you asking if I believe a giant ape man is carving up cattle?”
Daniel shrugged.
“I’ve told you before, Daniel, I have no knowledge of such things existing. I am immortal, I am not all knowing.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Daniel waved his hand and lit another cigarette. “Do you kill animals often?”
Armand actually looked surprised for a moment, which made Daniel smile. It took a lot to throw Armand off kilter and Daniel took great pleasure in doing so.
Armand reached across the table and snatched the cigarette from Daniel’s mouth at a speed that made it look as if the cigarette had flown into his hand of its own accord. Daniel’s heart raced but he tried not to show the jolt of primal fear that ran through him.
Armand held the cigarette between his fingers the way Daniel did, mimicking his motions. “Humans are animals,” he said idly.
“You know that’s not what I mean. Louis said he survived on rats—"
Armand’s head shot up and there was danger in his amber eyes. Daniel swallowed uneasily and reached for his glass. “Do not think speaking to one of us at length makes you an expert. And even he told you that was not normal behavior.”
Daniel took a swig of his beer. “I’m not an expert, that’s why I’m asking you.”
Armand put the cigarette to his lips. He inhaled, and then pulled it from his mouth, staring at it like it had offended him somehow. “We survive on animal blood when there is no other alternative. It’s your blood—the blood of mortals—that truly sustains us. Nothing else is sufficient.”
Armand stared meaningfully at Daniel’s neck as he spoke and Daniel’s hand went automatically to the spot where Louis had bitten him. It had been two years but he could still feel the ghost of the wound and he often wondered how it would feel to have Armand’s fangs in his neck.
Armand’s hand jutted forward, offering Daniel back his cigarette. He took it, fingers brushing Armand’s cool fingers. He wanted to grab his hand suddenly and hold it in his, to see if it would warm up in his grasp. But Armand had already stood, pushing his chair back.
“Where are you going?” Daniel demanded, without really thinking. He should be relieved the vampire was going. He was ice cold and probably hadn’t fed, and here Daniel was, stupidly asking him all about blood. That was a recipe for getting himself on the menu.
And yet he didn’t hate the idea. Vampires could drink without killing.
Armand leaned over the table and brushed a stray hair out of Daniel’s face. “Indeed we can, but it’s not satisfying. When I drink, I ride the heart until it stops and all the life has bled out.”
Daniel’s pulse raced, ice traveling down his spine. And then Armand was gone, almost as if he’d vanished into smoke. Daniel opened the newspaper again and tried to find something to distract himself, waving to the bartender for another beer. He sure as hell wasn’t going to go back to his hotel room alone until the sun was high in the sky and it was safe to do so.

OK. Here is the first batch of my saved 90′s VC fics.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DS6K2iAqxr2jeINtrky2eKa5mMlnsaZ-
I recommend “Apple Of Sodom” for a hot, smutty 90′s Armand/Daniel romp. And “Race To Purgatory” for the angstiest Armand/Daniel smutfic ever. The ending pissed me the fuck off and I’m still bitter 25 years later. ;)
And yeah those Daniel vs the Furby fics are there as well!
There will be more to come as I collect.
(If you have trouble downloading these, DM me and I’ll email them to you.)

“He seemed like he was trying to decide if he was offended or not. He had that look to him more or less every conversation we had. You know when you pick up a cat and the cat doesn't do anything to you but you're pretty sure he's about to claw your face off? That's Armand more or less all the time back then. And just like with disturbing cats, I knew I was inviting this on my own and it wouldn't change my behavior at all.”

WIP Wednesday
This is for my r63 mermaid au for next month and I'm super excited about it!
“I want to help you.” Louisa says again. “Will you let me do that?”
Those large brown eyes bore into her green ones, and a soft clicking noise comes from somewhere deep in its throat, followed by a small nod.
Louisa exhales slowly and nods as well. “You can understand me.” It’s not a question. This fact should be surprising to her, yet it makes sense to her somehow that it can. It’s clearly a very intelligent creature; perhaps it has had human interactions before. “Okay that’s good. Thank you.” Her tone is sincere. “Will you be alright here on your own for a few minutes? Only I need to go and get some things to help you with.”
Another nod of its head.
Louisa gradually moves to stand, being very careful not to make any sudden movements, and takes the few steps needed to get back to the mermaid. She kneels down beside it and gestures. “Would you like me to help you sit, it can’t be all too comfortable lying on those wounds on your tail.”
The creature makes another soft clicking noise and blinks up at her with its round eyes. Louisa takes this a yes and carefully manoeuvres it into an upright position to sit against the rock. She takes the bottom of her dress and rips off a strip. “I’m going to wrap this around that wound on your tail, if that’s alright.” She nods at the area where a chunk is missing. “It isn’t good to leave it bleeding out like that, you know.”
When the mermaid only looks at her and gives her another small nod, Louisa lifts the tail and places the strip of fabric on the sand beneath it. “My name is Louisa.” She says, as she lifts the ends to wrap around the tail. “Do you have a name?”
There’s a clicking noise again, only this time, it sounds almost like a word.
Louisa thinks about it for a moment before her face lights up and she finishes tying a knot in the fabric. She sits back and looks at the mermaid. “Armande. Is that your name?”
It chirps and clicks with a soft swish of its tail.
“Armande it is then.” Louisa smiles at her. She reaches out tentatively and moves a strand of auburn hair away from her eyes and behind her ears. Armande’s ears look almost like fins in their own right. Now that she’s really up close, Louisa can also see that, when the sun catches her just right, it reveals pale, iridescent scales covering Armande’s skin. She lets out a gasp of pure delight and hovers her fingers over the surface of her skin, mindful not to go too close to any wounds.
Armande lifts a hand and places it over Louisa’s, gently encouraging her to touch if she wishes. It’s got a slight texture to it, smooth yet with small ridges where the scales overlap. “It’s. . .” Louisa finds herself lost for words. “It’s so beautiful.” She breathes, finally. Her eyes lift to meet Armande’s, and they simply sit and look at each other for a moment, soft smiles dancing on each of their lips.

Excerpt:
Al Shafar Tower, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 28, 2022, after sunset
Two days before Louis attempts to end his life via sunlight exposure.
Armand explained to Daniel, as they walked along a long hallway that led toward the back of the penthouse, that the Al Shafar Tower began its construction in 2006.
Armand, using his human alias of “Rashid” during that time before construction began, had been one of the main investors in the building project before the ground had even been broken for its construction.
Armand, at that time, had purchased all the penthouse space in the building, along with a sizable portion of the basement spaces, which included a private entrance into the basement space. Along with the design for a private elevator that ran from the penthouse directly down to that owned basement area.
Construction of the tower was completed in 2009.
All of this Armand explained to Daniel as he now led Daniel to that private elevator, located in a secluded corner of the penthouse space.
“And what exactly are you keeping in this private basement area?” Daniel asked as they entered the elevator that would take them down to the private basement level. “Is it where The Farm is located? You and Louis both have yet to tell me anything about that little . . . whatever it is.”
“No,” Armand replied evenly. “The Farm is located in another place. The basement holds something much more … important. At least, for Louis,” he added, a note of resignation having been added in his tone.
“For Louis,” Daniel repeated. “The same Louis whom you told me a few hours ago was taking time to rest today?”
That day’s interview time did not have Louis come to talk with Daniel at all. Armand, once again, had told Daniel that Louis was taking the day to rest after the emotional remembrances of the day before. Just as he had done a week before when Daniel had first been given Claudia’s diaries to read.
So that whole day, it had just been Armand and Daniel on their own. And Armand had told Daniel, in great detail — and with cool detachment — things he felt were significant to tell Daniel about his past; how he was first turned in the city of Venice, as well as his kidnapping soon after, and being indoctrinated into a cult of vampires called ‘The Children of Darkness,’ of which he became the leader of the Paris chapter of.
How then, 300 years later, he’d first met The Vampire Lestat, who had turned the only life Armand had known for so long upside down; resulting in the end of that coven, and the beginning of a new one — the Théâtre des Vampires.
And then, finally, his role leading up to the trial and execution of Claudia by the Théâtre des Vampires.
“Louis did take time to rest today,” Armand explained. He continued to face forward in the elevator, not looking at Daniel as he spoke. “But during that time, he likes to come down to the basement level and spend time down here as well.”
The elevator speakers announced that they had arrived at the basement level.
“And why would Louis want to spend time resting in a basement?” Daniel asked, skeptically, as the elevator doors began to open.
With one arm, Armand held the doors open and, with a tilt of his head, indicated Daniel should exit first, only saying “See for yourself.”

Chapter 4 Excerpt:
And how could he not thaw like honey on a sun-dappled window sill? How could he not melt into the impossible luxury of this warmth? Why resist it - why should a sinner resist anything? Has the price not been paid, to serve in Hell, free of all carnal debt? Free to indulge?
The crook of Daniel’s throat moved against Armand’s shoulder blade, his would-be wings, as he eased back into the rhythmic flow of sleep with a soft swallow, the little hum of contentment that came after. The raw unfettered humanity of it loosened something in him that had once felt constrictive and tight. Something he didn’t realize he’d been holding onto, something like a rigging which spitefully holds back faster, lacerates the skin until it’s released.
For the moment, he let it go. And he was a student once more, an aspiring scholar of this mortal’s breath and skin.

@vamptember
"Bite me then, fucking come on. You stupid fucking mosquito". Lestat looked like he was going to cry. "Why?" he asked, "why are you so angry?" Tough Cookie stood over him with a sneer, "The Vampire Lestat, you had us with you, night after night. We trusted you. You used us". Lestat leaned back in his chair. "Tux, please!" He felt hopeless. He'd invited her over in an attempt to make light of all that had happened but now it was going even more wrong.
"Did we mean nothing to you, that you'd put us at such risk? You could have warned us! You didn't care. What were the audience? Collateral?" She spat the word at him and snatched up her bag. She was leaving. Louis stepped forward to show her out.
"I don't think you know how much it all meant to him", Louis said pleadingly as they walked to the front door. Tough Cookie stopped. "Don't fool yourself, Louis. It's all such fun isn't it? Until someone gets hurt. Does it ever occur to you that he killed you?"
He watched her go.
Lestat was still in the living room, he looked up when Louis returned. "She hates me. She has every right to". Louis was exasperated, "the self indulgence wears thin, Lestat. Just…" Lestat stood up and came towards him. "Just what, Louis? Tell me. You never can, can you? You can never say what you really feel. And what? I take what I want? You wouldn't be here now if I hadn't".
Louis sat down where Tux had been and put his head in his hands. He looked at his feet on the rug and wished he'd left with her. Something had fallen out of Tux's bag. He reached below the coffee table to pick it up. There was a fragrant wet stain on the sheepskin. Not the first, he thought. Reading the label he laughed softly to himself. It was a small spray bottle of citronella. He went after Lestat.
