Many fans dismiss Catelyn's lashing out to Jon as an one time thing. It's true that Catelyn told Jon she wanted him to be basically dead only once, after all she barely even talked to him in the past. However, to claim that Catelyn's mistreatment of Jon is an one time thing is overlooking the text which indicates otherwise.
First of all, to get it out of the way, let me say that I don't expect Catelyn to act like a mother to a child it isn't her own. None of Jon's fans ( at least as far as I'm aware of) expect her to or thinks she's obligated to. However, treating a child with basic decency isn't the same with "mothering" them. She's the adult and the Lady of the house and she's the one in position of power comparing to the bastard kid. Mistreating a blameless child is why Jon's fans rightfully call her out for.
When Jon is about to visit Bran to say goodbye, he feels afraid because he knows that Lady Stark will also be there:
He reached the landing and stood for a long moment, afraid. Ghost nuzzled at his hand. He took courage from that. He straightened, and entered the room.
Lady Stark was there beside his bed. She had been there, day and night, for close on a fortnight. Not for a moment had she left Bran's side. She had her meals brought to her there, and chamber pots as well, and a small hard bed to sleep on, though it was said she had scarcely slept at all. She fed him herself, the honey and water and herb mixture that sustained life. Not once did she leave the room. So Jon had stayed away.
Bran has been in coma for almost two weeks and this is the first time Jon visits him. It's not because Jon doesn't care for his little brother - Bran alongside Robb and Arya are the three people he's closest to in Winterfell-. It's because of Catelyn also being there. Her presence is terrifying enough to him to prevent him from visiting his beloved brother sooner. And if someone dismiss his fears as irrational, let me remind you that when he did visit Catelyn told him she wished he was in Bran's place. I'd say his fear of her is justified.
Even when he finally enters the room, he continues to hesitate to aproach his brother as he's too afraid of her.
He stood in the door for a moment, afraid to speak, afraid to come closer. The window was open. Below, a wolf howled. Ghost heard and lifted his head.
Jon's personality during his Winterfell years was being in the shadows, silent as a ghost. I wonder how much Lady Stark influenced it. Because he certainly didn't want to draw attention to him when she was around. And as the Lady of the house she was, naturally, always around.
Lady Stark looked over. For a moment she did not seem to recognize him. Finally she blinked. "What are you doing here?" she asked in a voice strangely flat and emotionless.
"I came to see Bran," Jon said. "To say good-bye."
Her face did not change. Her long auburn hair was dull and tangled. She looked as though she had aged twenty years. "You've said it. Now go away."
Here we have a fine indication how Catelyn tries to interfere with Jon's relationship with her kids, aka his siblings. Jon and Bran are brothers who share a loving bond and Catelyn, who is Bran's mother, definitely knows it (after all, she knows all her kids very well). But here she prioritizes her feelings over everything else. It's more important her wants Jon to go away, than what Bran would have wanted. And Bran would have wanted his brother to stay.
Part of him wanted only to flee, but he knew that if he did he might never see Bran again. He took a nervous step into the room. "Please," he said.
Jon really wants to share a proper goodbye with his little brother. That's the only thing that stops him from running away. Away from the person who terrifies him the most.
As you can see he's still being very polite to her, unlike how she's towards him:
Something cold moved in her eyes. "I told you to leave," she said. "We don't want you here."
Another incident of her trying to monitor Jon's relationship with his siblings. She uses plural "we" when she's the only one who doesn't want Jon there. If Bran was awake, he would disagree with his mother.
Once that would have sent him running. Once that might even have made him cry. Now it only made him angry. He would be a Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch soon, and face worse dangers than Catelyn Tully Stark. "He's my brother," he said.
If you want another proof that this isn't an one time thing, there you go. The above passage indicates that this isn't the first time Catelyn has been dismissive of him. In the past her mistreatment of him has sent him running and made him cry as he admits on his inner thoughts. Also, so far in his life, his father's wife is the worst danger he has faced.
"Shall I call the guards?"
Catelyn is threatening him to call the guards. She wants to call the guards to stop him from saying goodbye to his brother. As the Lady of House Stark, she has the authority to do so, and once again she doesn't mind to use it to mistreat a teenage boy.
"Bran," he said, "I'm sorry I didn't come before. I was afraid." He could feel the tears rolling down his cheeks. Jon no longer cared. "Don't die, Bran. Please. We're all waiting for you to wake up. Me and Robb and the girls, everyone …"
Poor boy feels guilty he didn't come to visit his beloved brother before. And of course, he admits he didn't because he was afraid. It's obvious who he was afraid of.
Jon did not know what to say. "It wasn't your fault," he managed after an awkward silence.
Her eyes found him. They were full of poison. "I need none of your absolution, bastard."
Here we have the teenager trying to comfort the subject of his fear. And how the adult of the situation reacts? She unkindly calls him bastard and tells him she doesn't need his absolution.
He was at the door when she called out to him. "Jon," she said. He should have kept going, but she had never called him by his name before. He turned to find her looking at his face, as if she were seeing it for the first time.
"Yes?" he said.
"It should have been you," she told him. Then she turned back to Bran and began to weep, her whole body shaking with the sobs. Jon had never seen her cry before.
I know we often focus on Catelyn's emotional abusive words wish Jon suffered the same fate with Bran. And rightfully so,because what she said was really uncalled for. However, I want to also focus on the sentance before it. Catelyn Stark has lived on the same house with Jon for 14 years and yet this is the first time she's calling him by his name. Which means that she's either not acknowledging his presence when he's around or that she's calling him dismissive names like "bastard" like she did a couple of minutes before. Either way, she's being emotionally abusive to a child whose worse offense was being born out of wedlock.

Oh dear I am so sorry for you sending me this message. Originally I planned to answer them on my vocation but I had no internet (actually having no internet was nice yet I feel bad to have kept you waiting when you send me something enjoyable like this. >.<) So let’s get started!
💕— What makes them feel connected to their partner? Hmm... Since Theon is rather insecure his partner and him first need be on a level on which Theon can openly display his insecurities without them being redirected at him. For a mutual connection I think individual trust in each other might be important. To be believed, to know that he’s not alone but also to know that Theon himself and his abilities are important to someone.
💌— What kind of love notes/messages do they leave their partner? Gosh, this one is so funny to me, I’m torn. xD On one hand he can be so galant (him getting his precious wardrobe muddied just to lift Catelyn gently) still he can be such an asshole at times (the Captain’s daughter >.>). So, I suppose when writing a letter he might struggle finding the right words, half out of fear to reveal to much, half because a letter is a valuable piece (in Westerosian terms). At first his letters might meander between courting politeness avoiding personal messages, much more describing his activities until his partner and him are on such an intimate level that he would use not flower yet eloquent language to describe how much he looks forward seeing them again, and small things he saw on his journey he considered exciting. BUT... he would always make inappropriate jokes in every letter he writes.
💢— What are some habits of theirs that would take some getting used to? In the books Theon’s played attitude of non-nonchalance, carelessness bordering at lack of earnestness already rubbed people off the wrong way. Coming to people wanting to know him better they might get a little frustrated that Theon shuts off or tends to tell personal white lies when he realizes he’s being honest about himself to other’s (he can’t barely be honest to himself). Regarding subconscious habit he might take a lot of time choosing his wardrobe and grooming himself which others might fight excessive if not ending in Theon barely coming to late to official meetings, gatherings, or ceremonies.
🛌— What’s their pillow talk usually like? (ah, the juicy questions (¬‿¬)) Concerning one-time hookups or begining relationships Theon might either find a reason to quickly get up and do something else or talk the most mundane things to talk about anything else (or in other AUs having an after-cigaret). In a longer lasting relationship he might let his partner talk first. Later he would comment on stuff his partner and he did he liked or found funny (”you really make this face when...” “Really? You are too embarassed to say that during dirty talk?”). Sometimes just being silent and holding hand or snuggling close is all he needs after sex.
🚪— What would kill their trust in their partner/close them off? Could this ever be amended? Considering how Theon needs a long time to be vunerable around others he might be careful along the way to trust anyone easily. Yet, when having found more self confidence, having a sense of self worth, hi realizing that his partner wants to instrumentalize him, not appreciating Theon as a person but his social status might break his trust immendably.

Daenerys and Viserys
Even on the chapter where Viserys finally dies, Daenerys continues to be submissive to her older brother until a specific event, which I'll further discuss later. This poor girl is raised only by her abusive brother and is taught that she owes him obedience and loyality because he's the true king and her only relative. What is more, for years he has threaten her that if she disobeys him, she'll "wake the dragon" in him. And by waking the dragon he means that he'll abusive her both emotionally and physically (sometimes even sexually). Viserys has no shame to use abuse towards his little sister when he's in a fool mood and he always let her know that it's her own fault ( as many abusers do with their victims).
Look how Dany reacts when she finds out that Viserys tried to stole her eggs:
For a moment Dany was so shocked she had no words. "My eggs … but they're mine, Magister Illyrio gave them to me, a bride gift, why would Viserys want … they're only stones …"
"The same could be said of rubies and diamonds and fire opals, Princess … and dragon's eggs are rarer by far. Those traders he's been drinking with would sell their own manhoods for even one of those stones, and with all three Viserys could buy as many sellswords as he might need."
Dany had not known, had not even suspected. "Then … he should have them. He does not need to steal them. He had only to ask. He is my brother … and my true king."
She's willing to give away her eggs to her brother if he asks her to. She even try to justify it by saying that he's her brother and her king. This isn't Dany giving away a pretty present she got, she's willing to give away those eggs which brought her comfort when she was at her lowest when she first joined the Dothraki. It shows that there is almost nothing that Dany wouldn't give to Viserys if he asked her no matter how dear it was to her.
Continuing her conversation with Ser Jorah she explains that Viserys is all the family she has left:
"He is your brother," Ser Jorah acknowledged.
"You do not understand, ser," she said. "My mother died giving me birth, and my father and my brother Rhaegar even before that. I would never have known so much as their names if Viserys had not been there to tell me. He was the only one left. The only one. He is all I have."
Poor Dany, for thirteen years she only family she got was an older brother who often abused her.
When Viserys enters Vaes Dothrak and draws his sword - something that is forbidden within the city according to Dothraki laws- Dany tries to make him see reason and even offers him her eggs which she believes that could calm him down. This time she's terrified both of and for him.
"The blade … you must not," she begged him. "Please, Viserys. It is forbidden. Put down the sword and come share my cushions. There's drink, food … is it the dragon's eggs you want? You can have them, only throw away the sword."
However, the moment Viserys threatens her belly with his sword, the narrative stops refering to him as Daenerys' brother. That's because he's no longer threatening only Dany but her unborn baby as well. Her mother instict kicks in and she won't allow Viserys to abuse her child like he did with her. The moment he puts her unborn son in harm while he's threatening her, Viserys crosses the line and there is no turning back. He's no longer her brother or her king daand she feels neither obendiance nor loyalty towards him.
The sword point pushed through her silks and pricked at her navel. Viserys was weeping, she saw; weeping and laughing, both at the same time, this man who had once been her brother.
Viserys keeps being referred as "the man who had been her brother" until his death.
"What did he say?" the man who had been her brother asked her, flinching.
When the sun of her life reached her, Dany slid an arm around his waist. The khal said a word, and his bloodriders leapt forward. Qotho seized the man who had been her brother by the arms
At the last, Viserys looked at her. "Sister, please … Dany, tell them … make them … sweet sister …"
When the gold was half-melted and starting to run, Drogo reached into the flames, snatched out the pot. "Crown!" he roared. "Here. A crown for Cart King!" And upended the pot over the head of the man who had been her brother
Daenerys' brother and abuser is finally dead. She has the epiphany that he's not a real dragon. Viserys had her convinced that he was the real dragon, someone who inspired fear on her. But on the last few months, she started having dragon dreams and she has already connected with her dragon eggs. She has seen a different side of the dragon, not being embodied by someone she fears but the dragon(s) as a source of comfort, feeling as home. Between the dragon as a source of fear and the dragon as a source of familiarity and comfort she chooses the second and therefore Viserys no longer fits on her perspective of what makes someone a dragon. He's not a dragon, he's a pathetic man who threatened his pregnant sister he had sold to slavery.

Daenerys TWOW speculation
Ι was thinking what lays ahead on Dany's journey for the next asoiaf book. Last time she appeared she was in the Dothraki Sea discovered by Khal Jhaqo's khalasar.
As much as I'd like her to give him and his ko Mago a painful death for what they did to poor Eroeh from her very first chapter I doubt this will be the case based on this Martin's interview:
If Mago becomes a recurring character that probably means that Dany will stay with the khalasar for quite some time.
There is a part on her vision of the House of Undying which hasn't be fulfilled yet which shows old clones worshipping her. I suspect that the khalasar will take her to Vael Dothrak - similarly how it was done on the tv show-.
Here is the part of the prophecy which mentions that place:
Beneath the Mother of Mountains, a line of naked crones crept from a great lake and knelt shivering before her [...]
Now, Vaes Dorthak is located beneath the Mother of Mountains and near the lake "The Womb of the World". The only permanent citizens of this city are the Dosh khaleen a group of widows of Khals. Daenerys was afraid that the other Khals would force her to join the Dosh khaleen back in ACOK. As for the Dosh khaleen themselves, they made the prophesy that Dany's son would be "the stallion that mounts the world" the Khal to unite all Dothraki.
So what if they were partly right to speculate that a child of Dany would be their prophesied leader but they were wrong predicting it would be Rhaego? What if instead it's Drogon or all three dragons of Dany's? That would actually make Dany also the prophesied leader because the dragons are a part of hers/share a unique connection with her.
Another interesting thing about Vaes Dorthak which might link to Dany is that aside from Dosh khaleen, slaves inhabit the city. They are the ones who gather the weapons to those who wish to enter- which means they have access to weaponry. And what Dany is known for? Liberating slaves as "Mhysa". So, it's possible for her once she's forced to live in Vaes Dorthak - similarly to a slave being forced to be there- to connect with the slaves and help organise their rebellion. Once the said rebellion is successful, the old crones Dosh khaleen can submit themselves to her mercy.

Little boys have to look at their father’s executing traitors:

Bran kept his pony well in hand, and did not look away.
And Septas are encouraging girls not to have a -justified- breakdown over gore scenes:
Jeyne covered her eyes whenever a man fell, like a frightened little girl, but Sansa was made of sterner stuff. A great lady knew how to behave at tournaments. Even Septa Mordane noted her composure and nodded in approval.

"HOW TO MAKE ALLISER THORNE HATE YOU" a guide by Jon Snow
Alliser Thorne is made by the stuff of grumpy, bad teachers everyone had in highschool. It's easy to dislike him when he's having beef with the teenage boys he's supposed to teach how to fight (and instead he often torments).
Re reading Jon's early chapters I was shocked to re discover that he didn't reserved a special kind of hatred for Jon from the beginning. On his introduction on Jon's third AGOT chapter, Alliser Thorne is shown to even praise (shocking, I know) Jon's skills. Of course this isn't done because he likes the young boy but rather because he wants to mock the other new recruit who performed badly against him ( you see even when he's going praise to your our main character, Thorne remains despicable):
"Enough!" Ser Alliser Thorne had a voice with an edge like Valyrian steel.
Grenn cradled his hand. "The bastard broke my wrist."
"The bastard hamstrung you, opened your empty skull, and cut off your hand. Or would have, if these blades had an edge. It's fortunate for you that the Watch needs stableboys as well as rangers." Ser Alliser gestured at Jeren and Toad. "Get the Aurochs on his feet, he has funeral arrangements to make."
As Jon says himself, Thorne dislikes him but he dislikes the other boys more:
Thorne hated him, Jon had decided; of course, he hated the other boys even worse.
It all changes when Jon starts to train the other new recruits, himself. Thorne makes a comment which is more aimed to humiliate his other students rather than Jon. Then Jon replies with a snarky joke. That's not something Thorne is used to ( although it's exactly what he deserves) and it wounds his pride.
Alliser Thorne overheard him. "Lord Snow wants to take my place now." He sneered. "I'd have an easier time teaching a wolf to juggle than you will training this aurochs."
"I'll take that wager, Ser Alliser," Jon said. "I'd love to see Ghost juggle."
From that moment he despises Jon more than the rest. At the end of the chapter he's even referred as someone who is Jon Snow's enemy:
Ser Alliser never took his eyes from Jon. As the laughter rolled around him, his face darkened, and his sword hand curled into a fist. "That was a grievous error, Lord Snow," he said at last in the acid tones of an enemy.

I'm hoping that Dany will form a bond with every girl who had a tough time and is around her age. Aside from Arya & Sansa, I'd like to see her interact with Brienne, Asha, Jeyne Poole, Meera etc. Please Martin give us all the positive female relationship you haven't shown us so far. And ofc I really want to see her meeting and teaming up with Tyrion.
Bran Stark and Devan Seaworth could be introduced and become friends since both are sweet kids. Can we also throw Lyanna Mormont here? In her letter she showed respect and loyalty towards the Starks so I'm sure she would be thrilled to be friends with future head of House Stark. Also, I hope sweet Robin survives and meets his youngest cousins ( Bran and Rickon) because poor kid seems in need of some friends.
Sansa and Arya need to meet the Manderly sisters and their sister of law, Jeyne, as well.
For Sansa, I'd be interested to see her interacting with her uncle Edmure and his wife Roslyn.
As for Arya, she needs to meet Meera, Alys and the Sand Snakes. And while I know that Ironborn don't get along with Northerners, I need Arya and Asha to interact. She should also meet her uncle Brynden Tully and let him be the one to train her in order to be ready for the The last Battle. That would be an ideal mentorship, imo.
As for Jon, he should meet JonCon and Young Griff ( unlikely to happen but still) because I want to see those three interact. Bonus points if that happens before the Jon's lineage revelation. Also, Jon should meet Meera and Brienne because they are exactly the type of girls he admires. Both have different love interests but still they deserve to meet a nice young man who would admire them for those reasons westerosi society looks down on them.
