i think a lot of people who write karin as a scientist write her as a very meticulous and organized scientist, but i think we should consider leaning more into the fact that her mentor was orochimaru

karin has a borderline nonsensical System for carefully tracking which sample is which because she simply doesn't know you can buy tube labels

it took karin six years to figure out she should tie her hair back when using the bunsen burner. unrelated but don't ask about the undercut

karin reuses pipet tips to save money. if you're getting contamination you can just pipet it out, duh

karin knows what a control group is. she simply thinks you don't need one for 90% of experiments

chemical and biohazardous waste gets carted across the border and buried in the dead of night. what else are they supposed to do with it

if they're out of cell scrapers, just use your finger nails and wash your hands real good afterwards

Anyways. This is deeply painful but I legitimately think that Taka was better for Sasuke than team 7, at least at the time. I think that Sasuke's dynamic with Taka and its members just helped him more. Having people like Suigetsu, Karin, and Jūgo around were what he needed. People who didn't care about Konoha, who weren't trying to tell him what to do or that he was making mistakes, and people who just stuck by him because they felt that was what they had to.

People who were just fucked up too. Who knew what it was like to have lost everything and who knew what it was like to want to take revenge. People who had dealt with Orochimaru and who knew what it was like to want to take power back.

Team 7 couldn't be what he needed at the time no matter how much he loved them and they loved him because they had such opposing goals and viewpoints at the time. Sasuke couldn't be what they needed and they couldn't be what Sasuke needed just because of what they had going on.

And it pains me greatly <3

Karin's M A P of scars

They never truly fade and no healing jutsu works on them. So, she always wears long sleeved collared shirts and high boots to cover the bite marks.

Yet they still creep to light when the sleeves roll up or when she tilts her head.

A lot of people already talked about the symbolism behind Naruto and Sasuke's zodiac signs, how it follows the theme of "wind makes fire stronger and keeps it alive" but it also applies to other characters? Like, Team Seven is formed by Kakashi (Virgo), Naruto (Libra), Sasuke (Leo) and Sakura (Aries), and after Sasuke leaves, Yamato (Leo) and Sai (Sagittarius) join the team. Team Taka is formed by Sasuke (Leo), Suigetsu (Aquarius), Karin (Gemini) and Juugo (Libra), probably a reference to how he recruited them to help him achieve his revenge. Speaking of Sasuke's family, they also follow this pattern, Fugaku (Leo) married Mikoto (Gemini) and had Itachi (Gemini) and Sasuke (Leo). Also water zodiac signs are probably part of the symbolism, because water can put off fire. Both Orochimaru (Scorpio) and Kabuto (Pisces) are threats to Sasuke (Leo).

decided to read the gay pride sasuke fanfic (called the blessed realm, if anyone was wondering) and it is INCREDIBLE

first off the most famous scene (the "what are they proud of" moment) occurs very early on in the fic when naruto runs into team taka (read: sasuke comes up from behind him while he's reading the newspaper intending to interrogate him about konoha and failing miserably), and long story short sasuke gets a little drunk. only he doesn't know he's drunk bc he doesn't actually fully understand what beer is.

also they watch a mediocre play about two gay men trying to get married without letting their parents know but still having them be involved, and at the end naruto (who has been effectively treating sasuke like a scared rabbit, in that he might disappear at any time for any reason, and has thus been barely interacting with him) wonders if sasuke liked the play and starts going over all the reasons he might not have, only for sasuke to say, completely unprompted, "i wish my parents were still alive," and then they go back to naruto's place (team taka is crashing with him bc they have nowhere else to stay and sasuke didn't want to waste time trying to find a place that would fit their ridiculously high standards so he was just going to leave and naruto offered bc he thinks sasuke might stop existing if he's not careful)

also juugo has been in mini form for like the entire time so naruto is trying to work out why the fuck sasuke's new team has a little kid on it. no one on team taka has thus far thought to explain this to him

i'm seven chapters in and this might be the greatest literary masterpiece of our time
