I'm Back....again

So since a new episode of PD comes out today, I guess it's a good time to be back here after my unexpected disappearance.

New episode today. I'm not gonna watch it. I am not even excited for the remainder of the season. For many reasons, actually. The last episode was so disappointing storyline-wise. I usually don't dislike Hailey episodes, but 10x12 was just....ughhh. I'm sure you all have watched it by now and can agree with me.

At this point, I don't know what Gwen has planned next for Hailey and Upstead. I don't know why she is dragging this out; it's just ruining the characters and their epic slow burn that she has put a lot of time and effort into. I hate saying this, but killing off Jay in 10x03 would have been so much better than what they are doing now. It would have hurt a lot, but it would make more sense.

I know many fans' hope has been destroyed after 10x12, but we gotta stay strong. My expectations are low...very low. And although the odds of a happy ending are against us, I still have hope that things will be okay. Cause I just don't see Hailey and Jay calling it quits; it just doesn't make sense. I could very well be wrong, but until anything definitive happens on screen, my gut will continue to tell me UPSTEAD IS ENDGAME!!!

To be completely honest, season 10 has really tanked my excitement for this series. In the past, I couldn't wait for new episodes to air, but now, we just had a 3-week hiatus, and I didn't miss the show at all.

Hailey, Jay, and Upstead will always hold a special place in my heart. I will continue answering anon asks. I will still be reading and writing Upstead fanfics (I promise I haven't forgotten about the multi-fic I started. Im just having a really long writer's block.) I will continue to love Upstead and believe they are endgame, no matter what Gwen and her team do.

I am absolutely still aboard the Upstead endgame train and I’m staying on until the wheels come off.

Next we should manifest Upstead reunion and endgame. Especially now that Jesse's directing the final episode 😌

I'm doing a P.D rewatch and going through all the things and feelings, currently on season 6 (peak season for me), but was just wondering what your honest opinion on the whole Upzek 'relationship' is?

I'm salty that they got hotter scenes than Upstead (apart from 9x09 😏) and I agree it probably shouldn't have gone on for as long as it did, especially under the circumstances, but I really don't think it's as bad as some people insist it was 🤷‍♀️

Season 6 is the superior pre-canon Upstead season in my opinion, too!

I liked Upzek for what they were - hot coworkers who shouldn't have been dating but were using each other for a little bit of (hot) comfort and a bit of normalcy. They were hot together, the scenes were hot, and I liked that it allowed us to see more and learn more about Hailey. They (and everyone watching) knew they weren't endgame and I really don't think they ever tried to make it more than it was.

And some of my very favorite Upstead scenes are directly caused by Upzek being a thing (the scene in the bar, "we're good and we're always gonna be good" etc.) so I can't find fault in that either.

They dated like five or so episodes too long, especially because we didn't see anything about them for several episodes and then they were suddenly breaking up - it could have been sooner and had just as much/little emotional impact, depending on how you felt about it.

Mostly I'm all for two hot people hooking up, and it was okay because they knew and we knew they were both meant for someone else and this wasn't going to stop that from eventually happening.

So like... did I love them for each other? No, but they were hot and sometimes you just a hot friend to find some comfort in.

If it is true that mouch is leaving the show ( which likely means he will die although maybe not) maybe Trudy will give Hailey a wake up call and tell her to fight for her husband and not to give up on him bc she would do anything to have her husband back

Dude, I’ll be honest, I have 0 idea. All I have seen is that K*r* is leaving fire - officially. But, if that does happen, that would definitely be a way to wave storylines together and I like the idea! I’m choosing to be hopeful that we’ll have upstead endgame!

Editing to add: I hope fire doesn’t lose Mouch, but if that is happening and they do take that route for the storyline, it would be a nice way to weave together Trudy and Hailey, seeing as Trudy was the reason Hailey wanted to become a cop. But that is also giving the writers A LOT OF CREDIT & after season 10 I am very iffy on them.

And to anybody who thinks that Jay left Hailey to go rekindle a toxic relationship with his ex...maybe you should rewatch the Upstead goodbye scene, but this time with subtitles.

I'm not sure I've been 100% on anything with this show since episode 3 last year 😂

That's the interpretation I got from Gwen's interviews, but that doesn't make it true. None of us know enough to say anything with certainty. We're all just making our best assumptions with the information we have.

I am grasping at anything to convince myself those feelings from the interview were wrong 😂. At this point, I'm going to step back from trying to guess and at least watch the premiere. I want to know what they're so secretive about to not do any previews when both Med and Fire (who also had cliffhangers) did. I'm sure my opinion will change and shift twelve more times throughout the season as we get more info. It usually does. I'll always hope they bring it around for Jay and Hailey in the end, even in the times I doubt they will.
