The damn sexy uncle Yamcha

I love this image, I really do. I'm sure he's the guy who indulges little Trunks' every whim and well…. To mature is to accept that Yamcha could have been (with the exception of Piccolo) the best father of the Z gang. Why? He was always loving, patient, genuinely protective and willing to lay down his life if necessary. If he did it for his friends, wouldn't he do it for a son or daughter? It really would have been nice to see him holding a baby that was the product of his greatest dream, which was to get married (and no, Bulma wasn't the one, at least not for me). Perhaps the best consolation prize is to continue to see him as the lone wolf in the skin of a sexy fucking playboy.

Fun Dragon Ball headcanons

Goku and Vegeta are experienced with video games because of their sons. They even sometimes play them together. Goku's favorite is Sonic the Hedgehog and Vegeta's Mortal Kombat. Vegeta is usually the victor in their matches.

Bulma makes up to Vegeta by letting him give Bulla a middle name. He picks Eschalot of course. He chooses this name after a famous Saiyan princess. Princess Eschalot was known as the ideal Saiyan princess: strong, intelligent, brave, beautiful, and a fierce warrior. She refused to marry and decreed that she only would if the suitor beat her in combat. Not only did she defeat each and every one, she even killed them.

The gang sometimes go to Yamcha's baseball games. The kids even have his baseball cards.

Piccolo's favorite water is from watermelons. Dende's is coconut.

Trunks and Bulla are grossed out when they learn their mother and Uncle Yamcha used to date.

Goku sometimes stops by Tien's school to observe or participate in lessons.

Goku and Chichi planted their own apple tree in their backyard shortly after they married. It's still there all these years later.

Vegeta is very approving towards Mai as a match for Trunks, especially since finding out she was an assassin.

Goku likes to bring Chichi souvenirs from his adventures. They could be a stone from a foreign planet, a seashell from the ocean, or a flower from the mountains.

Vegeta is a secret Taylor Swift fan. He listens to her music when he's training or thinking by himself.

The children like Broly and love to play with him.

Goku can be a jealous husband in a subtle way. If he notices a man checking Chichi out or trying to flirt with her, he will hold her hand and refer to her as his wife or use endearing names towards her.

As far as the public is concerned, Vegeta's a cryptid. Everyone knows his name and recognize him as Bulma Briefs' husband, but that's about it. Nobody knows who exactly he is, where he came from, or how he and Bulma met and got together. It's even more difficult since journalists are too scared of him to approach him for an interview.

Since he can remember, Goku has had dreams where he is floating in a yellow void, surrounded by large shadows of people and muffled voices. Most of the time, he sees and hears a small and friendly woman, a large man with a deep voice, or a short child who likes to knock on glass. Goku doesn't realize until many years later that these are memories of his time in his incubator and the people he was seeing/hearing were his parents and young Raditz.

"Hungry like a Saiyan" or "eat like a Saiyan" are common metaphors among certain alien races.

Krillin stays in touch with his Buddhist roots. He visits temples, even his old temple where he was raised. He sometimes brings 18 and Marron with him.

While it's not shown, Launch does stay in touch with everyone.

Chichi speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin. She personally teaches Gohan and Goten from a young age. Goku has even picked up some terms here and there. When she’s angry enough, Chichi will curse in either language.

Hiii Everyone!!!

I've been around for years now and have never introduced myself. mainly cause I just choose to vibe and enjoy the posts people share, but first time for everything. You can just call me Key, I'm 24 and I go by she/her. I enjoy a variety of stuff from manwha, manga, anime, video game franchises, and just a bunch of other animated media you name its probably buried down in my blog somewhere. Every now and then I get motivation to create fanfiction. I have only written works the Dragonball and Super Mario fandom All my works are under the "Keep Reading". My DMs and askbox here is always open if you ever want to chat I apologize in advance if I come across as a bit awkward (socializing is not a strong suit of mine) or if it takes me a minute to reply (adulting and hobbies am I right?), otherwise I'm a pretty chill person. Thats about it!

One of these days I really want to change my Penname...But I've had it for years now and I'm way too attached to it lmao.

Super Mario Fics: So a lot of these are Princess Peach centric and I'm just crafting up an origin story and some other events following the 2023 film. Dragonball Fics: The first fandom I have ever written for (and by penname you could probably tell what I read mostly) I have only shared them on FFN and AO3 until now. I was just starting to write fanfiction with the first two so they might be kinda cringe I guess but that's 16 year old me for you haha. gonna embrace the cringe by sharing it on here anyways.

Even when I started making fics I'm still not sure what goes through my mind when it comes to the title or chapter titles its literally the first thing that comes to mind and nothing after that but we will get it one day for sure.

Here's Some WIPs (that's both written and not) you guys can look forward too from me. I'll remove them and add them under the appropriate fic tags once I post them:

Uncle Yamcha fic: It is currently three chapters. The first one is him and Trunks, second is Marron, and the third one is Bra/Bulla. I really want to think of one for him and Goten but nothing has come to my mind. I just think he's more close to Krillin and Bulma where he'd interact more with their kids and I can't think of a scenario for him and Goten or what they would even talk about but maybe something will come. (I've currently sent this off to my Beta for review but lemme know if you guys want to see the un-beta'd version I have on here cause I'm really forward to sharing it)

Untitled EOZ fic following after Goku leaves the Tournament grounds to train Uub. This one sits at about 8k words (not sure exactly cause I added a bunch of notes at the end for my beta to see where my thoughts were going with it all) anyways this one focuses mainly on Trunks, Goten, Marron, Pan, and Bra as really the older kids look forward to what may lie ahead. A lot of it is just me focusing on the dynamics they have with each other. When I saw that dlc for kakorat was going to be focused on that one that really makes me want to share this one. Again let me know if you want to see that.

Based on this Ask here you can already see that I've completed 2 out of my 5 ideas so that leaves the other ones and maybe more if I think of anything else. All of these will probably be added to my Little Events fic. a few little ideas not shared here but I've thought about and have some dialoge in mind but haven't fully created yet.

I want to do something where Mario and Haru interact I just think it'll be so neat.

Maybe something where I do my take on introducing Sarasland and Princess Daisy. Probably along the lines of Peach meeting Daisy for the first time.

I need to hop on the wholesome bros. content at some point and I know I wanna try my hand with Mia and Pio as a part of it.

I think thats it for now...I'll probably add more if I think of something as having somwhere to put it down no matter how small it is can be nice to look at and push me towards getting it done.

OMG, Homie O'Stacies... Had another one of them wild-ass, dumbass dreams, and I'm gonna tell you about it. 😂

Our guys. Our dudes. Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta. And I think Krillin and Yamcha. They were in some kind of "we have to break into Lumpy Space but also survive there long enough to find the thing we came here for and break back out" scenario. Except it wasn't Lumpy Space, it was kinda like...the Jersey Shore and also one of those out of control parties at Jesse Pinkman's house. But the whole fucking city.

And the rules were the same; the stakes were high, because the longer they stayed in Doucheville, the higher the chance was that they'd turn into party animals and forget the mission and get trapped there and all sorts of terrible things.

And it was getting down to the wire. People were like... "recognizing" them, but not as themselves, just calling them by their personas that they would become if they stayed there. And they were like, slapping Solo cups out of each other's hands and getting all sweaty and frantic like, "NO, GUYS, COME ON, STAY FOCUSED!" "I CAN'T, THERE'S TOO MUCH GLITTER!" "NO! STAY FOCUSED, DAMMIT, WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT! WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT HOOOOOME!!!"

And shit got dire, and they realized they weren't gonna be able to retrieve the thing and make it out without a man on the inside or something. And Piccolo was like, "...I gotta do it. I have to." And everyone was all like, "Piccolo...Piccolo, NOOOOOO!!!" And he went into a total fighting-the-werewolf-transformation thing in the storm of lamentation, and was like, "I have to! If we're gonna make it out of here...I...I gotta...I gotta become TallBoi! RRRAAAAAHHHHHH..."

Next thing you know, Pickle's blasting onto the scene in like...a skin-tight vinyl crop-top and some gold parachute pants and a sideways snapback covered in disco ball mirrors or some shit and the most obnoxious sunglasses you ever seen.

TallBoi.

TALLBOI.

And I... I do not care. I know everything worked out in the end, I know this in my heart. But I stan TallBoi. You KNOW he was like the kale & kush smoothie of Snoop Dogg and Ludacris, and Flavor Flav was his uncle. You KNOW he stepped on the scene like, "Let's fuck it up, sluggies," and EVERYBODY fuckin' SCREAMED. You know he was tending bar and cheatin' at flip-cup and doing all sorts of stupid shit with his stretchy arms. You know he started trends for antenna jewelry. He probably recorded and released an album THAT NIGHT, and it was dope AF, and Piccolo hates the fact that he still loves some of those tracks because they are 🔥🔥🔥. He still has tracks from "TallBoi: Pour it Down Ya Throat" on his workout mix.

Vegeta is not allowed to listen to any of it. For multiple reasons.

Anyway.

I'm crazy tired, but:

I wanted more of Gohan interacting with Goku's extended found family overall. Chichi keeps him near Mt. Paozu initially because of how young he is, and we get a decent friendship/goofy uncle relationship with Kuririn, but like... there're so many others in the cast that could've made for prime interactions.

Yamcha fumbling through advice about dating, Tien struggling to come up with a punchline for a joke that could help cheer him up in that period Goku was dead, hell, imagine if Yajirobe accidentally wandered close to Piccolo's chosen training grounds in the Saiyan saga and got the boy in an involved conversation about what you can or can't eat (Yajirobe: Everything. Gohan: Probably not rocks or poison mushrooms, but pretty close!)

And then Piccolo shows up to threaten/terrorize the swordsman for interrupting training, and Yajirobe, flustered and not thinking, barks "I ate one of your spawn once!"

Then flees.

There's just a lot of potential for bonus Gohan/Goten uncles, okay?

No you are so totally right and I wanted this too !!!!!! Z totally sidelined a lot of characters that used to have a lot of significance in the plot, and Gohan was only introduced in Z, so we completely miss out on any interactions between him and so so SO many characters that goku grew up with !!!!

On the other hand, I think gohan really deserved more friends and people his age, and the fact he only got them as a teen makes me go bonkers bananas.

A bunch of uncle figures would have been really good and great though. Or

OR. AUNT LAUNCH. PLEASE. Launch was so good gohan would have had such interesting interactions with her !!! !!!!!!!!

Or even puar chiaotzu and oolong (and I guess kame turtle too), they are small and often forgotten I think gohan would have given them the time of day if he’d been given the chance

Any of the above telling gohan stories about their youth with goku would have been really sweet, or just any sort of conversation or spending time or just getting gohan out of the house to do things that people do. !!!!

That pic about Trunks and Yamcha got me thinking, like you just gave au ideas here 😃 like Yamcha being like a father figure to Trunks when Vegeta is MIA or off training somewhere. And that is so sweet that yamcha would send a birthday card to Trunks (I don't think Vegeta does any real domestic father son bonding in canon 🤔 ). And then there is another au idea where Vegeta getting jealous and trying to be more of a father to Trunks and a husband to Bulma where there will be awkward and hilarious situations happening 😆 and Vegeta eventually asking for tips and advice from yamcha but Yamcha is pretty much clueless to what was happening and just being a nice guy who always gives birthday cards, and holiday cards out to everyone 😁 sorry if this was long, just had to share this with you 😅😊

I just didn't know if I'd see them. And also I thought that it would have taken a few more posts by me on the subject.

I wasn't expecting the warm reception on that comic .. I would have put a bit more effort into crafting the pics if I had known #LOL.

Yamucha held Trunks as a baby more than Vegeta did. Vegeta SAID that he never held Trunks ONCE until he hugged him during the Majin Buu shit. This is a normal and common fact but I feel like if Trunks heard it phrased that way - that Yamucha held Trunks as a baby more than Vegeta did - then it would strike him a bit ... Because in his memory he obviously associates more with his father than with Yamucha, if he heard it phrased that way then it may register as "actually yamucha and I go way back and I just didn't remember" and then it would feel weird to keep treating yamucha like they dont know each other.

Yamucha sends cards becasue of course he does .. It was a practice that was started in a way that was kind of cheeky and more for Bulma's benefit than anything .. It's not uncommon that a baby will receive a gift that is more helpful to the parent than to the baby. So Yamucha sending a baby a birthday card as if it can read was, in his opinion, really funny. Also his way of responding to the fact that He Did Not Receive an Invitation to the baby's First Birthday Party (Bulma just didn't send any out... everyone should KNOW that there's gonna be a party :eye rolling emoji:). Other than that, Yamucha usually does manage to arrive at the birthday parties, but he doesn't always bring gifts (or gifts that are cool to anyone but himself), and sometimes he shows up late, and sometimes he gets drunk with the adults before even having a chance to see the kid (and of course it's more fun for Trunks to do literally anything else on his special day than talk to adults), so, the card is just something Yamucha always does as a back-up / commitment to the bit.

But yknow. Vegeta never even says "happy birthday" to the little guy. And that's fine because that's just the way he is and he expresses love in other ways and Trunks loves him too and this is just how they do it, this is the language of affection that is unique to Vegeta and it's fine because Trunks has learned how to speak it, BUT, YKNOW, there's potential for a story of Trunks discovering how Nice it is to have an adult just be NICE and WARM to him, easily, and who will give him attention without being asked to in contexts other than training and improving oneself.

I used to think about a similar thing when musing about Trunks's Uncle Tarble, but that was specifically when Trunks goes through his tumultuous teen years, and he appreciates the fact that someone is willing to appreciate him as he is and without needing him to be better. Whereas I feel like Yamcuha could be / would be a beneficial presence in Trunks's life when he's a younger kid, and he really just needs to warmth of a parent.

Trunks's parents are doing fine given everything, but it takes a village to raise a kid, and Yamucha is a part of that village.

Oh dear now I'VE gone on for too long..!

BACK TO YOUR ASK: THE SECOND AU: OMG THAT'S SO SILLY... the thing is I thought of a similar thing in my Tarble Days, where everyone loves Tarble because he's nice and considerate, and Vegeta literally concedes defeat and asks Tarble How He Can Be A Better Presence For His Family. But it's a totally different vibe if it's Yamucha .. like there are similarities (tarble & yamucha both Suck in Vegeta's eyes) but there are differences in that .....

Yamucha has known Bulma for longer and is a human himself and maybe he's just more naturally in-touch...?

Maybe there's something about Trunks's human side that Vegeta just isn't speaking to...?

Maybe Vegeta STILL doesn't understand family even after all of this time...?

But what is he to do ... have movie night with them? He hates movies. Talk to his wife more? He hates talking. Hold his son's hand more? One time he saw Yamucha holding Trunks's hand and Trunks's tiny hand completely disappeared in Yamucha's garage of a fist and Vegeta didn't know how he was supposed to feel about that ... He looked at his own hands and wondered if they would be good enough.....

Vegeta trying to have movie night with his family to prove that He Can but he just sits there with his arms crossed the whole time & it doesn't seem like he's enjoying it and it just doesn't suit him .. and it makes it all More Awkward for everyone else..

Anyway. I like to think that Yamucha IS aware of the ways that he is a nice presence for Trunks, just because he's good with kids the way that a fun uncle is, and becasue he's older and wiser than he used to be and he can read people better than he used to .. and he knows more about what's needed by the soul and body and mind ....

HOWEVER. He doesn't realize that Vegeta would look at the friendship that he has with Bulma as something that Vegeta needs to learn from. And though Yamucha knows Bulma & Vegeta pretty well and can parse out what Trunks is missing at home based on that and Trunks's behaviors, he's not actually a parent himself & he has no intentions of being one anytime soon & he doesnt think about it that hard & so he doesnt know that when he lets Trunks come over with Goten to make roasted chestnuts and watch Caddyshack (1980) at his cabin, that that's something that makes Vegeta feel insecure in his role and value as a father.

So YEAH. Vegeta would confront Yamucha and ask him how he can Be Better, and Yamucha would be like "....HUH?"

Yamucha would scratch his head and roll his shoulders and eventually manage to express: "Well... Have you tried just talking to your family? And, like, listening?"

and Vegeta would either blow that off as an unhelpful suggestion OR be so embarrassed that it was that simple all along that he'd walk away in shame.
