what im really enjoying about dungeon meshi is that at no point the progression felt unnatural. the stakes are so much higher than when they started and so is the general tone of the story but i was never like, "woah, thats a really big jump". everything made complete sense as the natural next step

M: "Hi-chan, that's hilarious! I wish I could've seen it!"

H: "And then, she sort of flailed her arms like a windmill and landed in the water with a big splash!"

Today in 1992, my favorite solo album by David Byrne was released. Its cover is by the great Brian Dewan.

I have a vivid memory of opening my mailbox in '92 and seeing the Columbia House Record Club CD mailer. Realizing that I never mailed back the "I don't want the selection of the month" postcard, I exclaimed "uh oh!"

Then I opened it.. 🤯

Animal of the Day!

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus adamanteus)

Conservation Status- Least Concern

Habitat- Eastern United States

Size (Weight/Length)- 6 kg; 1.5 m

Diet- Small mammals; Birds; Insects

Cool Facts- Being the largest and most venomous rattlesnake in North America, more people die from this snake than any other in the continent. Generally a slow moving hunter, the eastern diamondback rattlesnake basks on open rocks to warm up. After finding a bush or some leaflitter, the rattlesnake will ambush prey and bite it. The snake then follows the scent of the dying prey and swallow it whole after the animal dies. Being an excellent swimmer, eastern diamondback rattlesnakes can swim miles from land and towards oceanic islands in the Gulf of Mexico. Despite being highly venomous, rattlesnakes are often more afraid of you than you are of it. The snake uses its rattle to tell you to back off and it will only strike as a last resort. Best to watch your step and leave these guys alone.

Animtober- Uh-Oh (Most dangerous snake in North America.)

I have a cute AU idea where Jin Ling and Lan Sizhui met as kids on some sort of a clan-mixing party. They were both little and stressed, and there weren’t many kids around – and the ones that were there were asshole teenagers.

Jin Ling is barely 3 and Lan Sizhui is a small five-yearold. Lan Sizhui got lost in the serpentine corridors of the Jin mansion and Jin Ling was hiding from his awful cousins.

The cousins happened upon Sizhui and started to bully him, but then Jin Ling appeared in all of his angry glory, kicked Jin Chan in the knee, grabbed Lan Sizhui by the hand and they ran away. Jin Ling showed the other kid his hiding spots and they struck fast friendship. By the time the party was over, they were best friends and secretly impressed with one another (Sizhui thought A-Ling is adorable and very brave, and Jin Ling though that A-Yuan is very pretty and knows everything). Having to go back to their respective carers was a sad affair and both boys promised to meet in the future.

The only issue is that each of them left thinking that the other one is a girl.

He frowned.  There were only two people outside the company who knew he was here.  Neither of them would’ve bothered to have security call him to announce their arrival—they’d have just come up.  “Who is it?”

“She said she’s your fiancée.”
