Temptation: Prologue

Summary: After stumbling upon a fairy circle you’re transported to the domain of temptation, where you meet Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai. The five fairies are bonded for life and have one goal, to make you succumb to temptation.

Stupid photography class. Stupid photography professor. That was the reason you were lost in the woods right now. You usually loved photography, it was your passion after all. but right now, you hated it. Your phone was long dead and your legs ached, you were pretty sure you had passed the tree to your right at least 3 times now. You knew calling for help was useless because of how deep you were into the forest. You could just find a tree branch or something and sleep there for the night, but a big part of you knew that was dangerous for several reasons. At this moment you felt like all hope was lost, and were about to give up until you saw a clearing.

The full moon shined down on the area, finally giving you some light after what felt like years in the dark. You breathed out in relief as you stepped onto the plush grass in the area, looking around you in awe at the small safe haven you found. “Maybe I can sleep here for the night, the grass looks soft enough.” You spoke your thoughts out into the silence of the forest as you bent down to feel just how soft the blades beneath you were. After deeming it acceptable enough to sleep on, you set your camera down and used your hands as a makeshift pillow before laying down in a fetal position and drifting off to sleep.

“Is she alive?”

“Of course she is, she’s breathing, see?”

“I don’t know, they say sometimes humans can look like they’re breathing after death.”

“Will you dummies give her some space, she’s waking up.”

You slowly opened your eyes, blinking up at the blurry figures surrounding you. Your eyes adjusted to the light slowly, but once they came into focus you jumped up, startling the five men around you. You looked around and realized the clearing you were in looked completely different. The trees were much more sparse, and you could see an abnormally large tree beyond the smaller ones. As you took in your surroundings you also took in the appearance of the strangers that contributed to your awakening. You thought you were still asleep because the five men before you weren’t only gorgeous, but they also had large wings protruding from their backs. After a quick pinch to your arm and a rub to your eyes, you soon realized that you weren’t still asleep. The five boys peered down at you curiously, you noticed one in particular with black hair and plump lips, who was smirking at you from behind the blonde boy. There was a certain glint in his eyes that gave you a bad feeling about the whole situation. “You’re a long way from home human,” said the long brown haired boy whose wings were a light shade of orange, that shimmered from the iridescent sheen that coated them. All of their wings had a similar sheen that only contributed to their beauty. “care to tell us how you got here? It's ok, we aren’t gonna hurt you, it's just not very often that we have visitors in our domain, at least not ones like you.” You shuddered out a breath, letting your eyes glaze over all of them, before ultimately deciding what the brown haired boy said was true. “I got lost in the woods, and I just wanted to rest, so I laid down in this clearing I found, but now I’m here?” You truly didn’t recognize the area and even though it was dark, you definitely would’ve noticed the large tree just beyond the treetops. “You’re still in the same clearing pretty, just in our domain.” You directed your attention to the smirking fairy from earlier. Staring at him as if he just grew another pair of wings, this was definitely not the same clearing. “I promise you it is, I’m sure you’ve already caught on, but we're fairies, and that clearing you fell asleep in, was one of our fairy circles.” You continued looking at the boy with a confused expression, as if that explained anything. “Ok let's just speed this up. My name is Beomgyu, that’s Yeonjun, the blonde one is Soobin, the other black haired one is Heuningkai, and the pink haired one is Taehyun. You fell asleep in our fairy circle on a full moon and now you’re here in our domain.” You nodded as if any of what he said just made sense. “So let me get this straight, because I fell asleep in your circle, during a full moon, that’s why I'm here?” All of them nodded as if it was obvious. “Ok, and how exactly do I get home?” They exchanged looks with each other, that same glint that was in Yeonjun’s eyes earlier now infected all of them.

“Well… each domain is different, so they all have their own rules on how to return things to the human realm.” Yeonjun spoke first, stalking towards you, like a predator would its prey. “Our domain is no exception to this.” Now Taehyun. “And our rules are really quite simple.” Hueningkai. “Survive a month with us, without giving into temptation.” Soobin. “If you succeed we return you home, but if you lose… you’ll stay with us forever and be our toy.” Beomgyu finished off the small half circle of men that surrounded you, all of them staring at you with a hunger in their eyes that made you slightly afraid…

and yet so intrigued.

It’s one of those rare moments when the cameras are gone, when he’s blissfully alone and surrounded by nothing but the quiet of the late night streets as he walks home from the company. He’d elected for no music tonight, savouring the distant sound of traffic and the occasional conversation from passing pedestrians.

So why exactly does he feel the overwhelming need to check over his shoulder?

Taehyun gives in, because he’s always believed in the better to be safe than sorry mentality, and he manages to catch the flash of a camera lens and a body ducking off into an alleyway.

He grimaces. A sasaeng, then. Unfortunate, but not something he’s surprised about. They’ve never had many issues with them before, but it was bound to happen eventually and if nothing else Taehyun is glad it was him and not any of the others.

He keeps walking, recalling Hobi’s advice on how to deal with overzealous (dangerous) fans. Keep walking, keep your head down, and call someone immediately. Don’t talk to them if at all possible; it only encourages them.

His hands shake slightly as he pulls out his phone and clicks on the contact labeled Yeonjunnie-hyung. It’s disgustingly late at night, but Yeonjun’s always up late and can be relied upon to actually answer.

It vaguely registers that Taehyun probably should’ve called one of their managers or even security, but as the sound of footsteps behind him gets closer and closer, Taehyun just wants his hyung.

“Taehyun-ah! What’s up?” Yeonjun’s voice comes over the phone and Taehyun’s lungs stop constricting, if only a little bit.

“Hey hyung,” Taehyun replies softly, practically whispering. “You need to come get me, right now.”

“Where are you.” The words are said with deadly seriousness, Yeonjun no doubt responding to Taehyun’s scared tone. Taehyun almost melts in relief.

“I’m near the tteokbokki place, the one two minutes away from home. Hyung,” his voice lowers to near-silent, “it’s a sasaeng.”

The line is quiet for a few seconds and Taehyun almost fears Yeonjun hung up, but then his hyung’s quiet, furious voice comes again.

“Keep walking in a circle. I’ll be there soon. Do not let them anywhere near you, okay?”

“Okay,” Taehyuns says, swallowing nervously. “Thank you, hyung.”

“Hang in there Tae-yah,” Yeonjun responds, then hangs up.

Taehyun puts his phone back in his pocket and turns right to start heading away from their apartment. The footsteps follow, and Taehyun ignores the urge to run. Running will probably only serve to encourage them, considering what he knows about sasaengs. He settles for clenching his fists in his coat pockets and doing breathing patterns to make sure he doesn’t start panicking.

He’s only made it about halfway through the loop before the footsteps come right up behind him and a hand grabs his wrist tightly.

Taehyun spins around and instinctually tries to rip his hand free, but the grip persists and he’s met with the smiling, slightly manic looking face of a younger girl.

“Hello, Taehyun-oppa,” she says sweetly, batting her eyelashes at him. “It’s so nice to meet you! I’ve been waiting to see you for ages.”

“Ah- thank you, uh- thank you so much,” Taehyun stutters. “For uh, being a fan!” He wants out of here now. The hand on his wrist keeps tightening, and he can’t break free without using a significant amount of force, which could hurt her and cause a massive scandal on his part. His heart is beating so fast he’s afraid it’ll punch right out of his head, and his head spins as he tries to find a way out of this.

“Of course!” The sasaeng gushes. “I’ll be your number one fan forever and ever, oppa. That is, of course-” her eyes take on a wild light- “if you could give me something.”

Taehyun’s heart drops in his chest. Yeonjun-hyung, where are you? “And what would that be?” He manages to say, smiling around the coil of fear threatening to choke him.

“A kiss!”

Taehyun’s smile becomes fixed on his face like a mask, even as his entire body starts screaming at him to get away. “I’m so sorry, I can’t do that,” he says, voice shaking. “It’s against company policy.”

“That’s okay.” She sidles up closer to him and Taehyun fights his reaction to reel back. “They don’t have to know.”

Taehyun laughs nervously and subtly tries to twist his wrist out of her hand. It doesn’t work, and her grip only gets tighter. “I’m sure you want to wait for someone you’re dating. Your true love, you know?”

“But oppa is my true love!” The sasaeng squeals, tugging desperately at Taehyun’s shirt. “Won’t you just give me a kiss! Or don’t you love me?”

“N-no, it’s not that!” Taehyun scrambles, panic clawing its way up his throat and threatening to come spilling out of his mouth. “That’s not what I meant-”

“Then kiss me!”

“I can’t-”

“Or you won’t?!”

“Please let go of me-”

“I’m not leaving until I get my kiss!”

“Please-”

“Hey!”

Taehyun freezes, as does the sasaeng, and he turns his wet eyes up to see Yeonjun sprinting straight at them, face a mask of pure fury. Behind him are several members of their security team, all dressed in black and looking extremely intimidating in the dim light of the street lamps. “Let him go!”

The sasaeng gasps, and she immediately stops tugging at Taehyun’s everywhere. She turns and runs, obviously panicked at having been caught in the act of assaulting an artist.

The security teams goes after her, while Yeonjun comes to a screeching halt right in front of Taehyun.

“Taehyun, Taehyun, Taehyun,” he says breathlessly, panting. “Are you okay? Did she hurt you? It looked like she was being really rough-” He cuts himself off and starts patting Taehyun down, presumably for injuries, but Taehyun catches his hands in his own.

“I’m okay,” he whispers, still shaking. “I’m okay.”

Yeonjun looks deep into his eyes, seemingly trying to see if Taehyun is telling the truth. Whatever he finds there must displease him, because he then lets out a low, disgruntled hum.

“Fine my ass. We’re going home right now and you’re going to tell hyung what happened, and then I’m never letting you out of my sight for as long as you live. Okay?”

Taehyun huffs a wet laugh, leaning forward to rest his head on Yeonjun’s shoulder. “Okay.”

Yeonjun gathers him up into his arms and Taehyun melts into his arms. They stay that way for a bit before some of the security team come back to escort them home, and when they arrive Yeonjun joins Taehyun in his bed without words.

Taehyun falls asleep within seconds, his hyung’s arms wrapped securely around him, knowing he’s safe.
