Weasley Twins Event

In an attempt to drum up some love for our favorite twins, I'm throwing The Season of Love Event in February.

I want this to be a communal effort, so I'm inviting all creators to join in. Each week will focus on two different themes/tropes (more on that in a minute) to hopefully inspire you. Create whatever you wish: fics, HCs, poetry, art, moodboards, videos, etc. The sky's the limit as long as it's centered around George or Fred or both.

Now, onto the details:

Two tropes.

I want to do one common and one unusual trope or theme each week. And I want YOU to choose which ones.

Later today, I'll be posting a poll with a list of common tropes for you to vote on. The top four will be our winners.

Next week, we'll focus on the lesser known/ unusual ones. But I need your help. Send me your favorite uncommon tropes and your most bizarre, outlandish ideas. I'll create a poll, and next week, we'll vote!

DCTV moodboards: Hartmon - Alice in Wonderland fusion

Made for @hartmonfest combining “classic book fusion“ and “picture prompt 2″ (which was a heart shape that’s been carved out of some brush). I started writing a ficlet to go with the moodboard but it got out of hand and won’t be finished this month so here’s an angsty snippet to go with the moodboard.

“Queen to E4. Off with his head!” the red king shouts with glee. The board isn't numbered but Cisco can't miss how not!Eobard is pointing at him.

Hartley walks unhurriedly up to him, looking bored. He doesn't have a sword of any kind, but he does have his Piper gauntlets and Cisco really doesn't want to find out what he intends to do with them.

“Wait!”

“Let's just get this over with, Ramon,” Hartley says, completely lacking any of the relish his master here has for this fight.

“You know this game. You played it almost every lunchtime with Har- with Eobard.”

“Who?”

Ah yeah, oops, post-Crisis Hartley never found out about Eobard's maniacal plans. Way to miss out on closure. Though possibly none of that matters if this is simply another character wearing a face Cisco knows, not unless what he knows affects how they react to him.

“This isn't even a legal move!”

“Am I meant to care?” Hartley asks, rolling his eyes, exasperated, “Look at me.” Hartley's suddenly decked out in his full Pied Piper glory. But it makes Cisco swallow hard because that isn't the Piper outfit he's most recently seen Hartley in. This is the outfit he made for Hartley, erased from existence like every other part of their friendship.

“You know this game, so you know...the king,” Cisco says gesticulating wildly at a glowering but oddly silent Eobard in the background, “The king is nothing without the other pieces. You're better than this.”

Cisco'd thought he could appeal to Hartley's ego at least but the Hartley that meets his eyes is one he hasn't seen in an age, one unconcerned with his achievements. That Hartley – who couldn't see them as friends at that point, more like people with shared traumas – had admitted just how much Eobard had built him up and so conversely how badly he'd managed to break him down in his one fell swoop of the axe.

“What does it matter. We've played this a thousand times. The outcome is always the same. Sacrifices must be made. This is what I do, I chose my side long ago.”

“No.”

“No?” Hartley echoes. He remains calm enough on the surface but his eyes widen subtly and by the slight turn of his head Cisco recognizes he's caught Hartley by surprise.

There's a cacophony of voices raised at his repeated 'no', as if it's unheard of to disagree with the kings' whims. Eobard and Harrison start shouting at each other from across the board and jeering crowds appear from nowhere at the sides.

Hartley, however, seems less confused now he’s had a moment to recover and more suspicious, his eyes narrowing. Then he asks Cisco something he couldn't have predicted, and yet at the same time should have been entirely predictable if not for them being in this topsy turvy landscape. “Why is your pocket wet?”

Which is a question that Cisco can't imagine any of the unhinged inhabitants here bothering to ask.

July 30th marks my one year anniversary as a writer on tumblr. To celebrate, we'll be traveling deep into the heart of Faery. The Fae Realm is a beautiful but dangerous place. It's important to remember that things will not always be as they seem. A frightening face may have kind eyes, while a pretty one might be deadly.

1 - Never give the Fae your full name or eat even one morsel of Faery food.

2 - Keep your wits about you. The Fae are unable to lie, but they are masters of manipulation.

Peregrin could always tell when someone's last tomorrow was. Their unnatural frosty fragrance and a wisp of grounded pepper never failed to tell on them. It was a task most dire, only taking, never giving.

His gnarled hands clutched today's newspaper a bit tighter, however, his hazel eyes hardly glanced at the neatly lined letters and cropped pictures.

Dressed in brick-red linen pants, a white shirt, brown slippers, and a navy blue sack coat, he almost belonged. The newspaper, the steaming black coffee resting next to him on the wooden bench, and the golden-furred associate who'd taken the shape of what humans called dog stepped up his game ever so slightly.

A female mortal, hunched over a cane and trembling with each breath she took, smiled at him and for a fleeting moment, Peregrin saw her at her life's peak.

Long black hair, eyes of a vivid lake, skin drenched in sunlight, a heart soaked with regrets, and a soul scarred by secrets. He smiled back, nodded at her but payed her no second thought. Too chalky; still like a fine drizzle of spring rain and all topsy-turvy. Sorting her out would be messy. The secrets would spill everywhere, all loud and energetic, too bright, too wrong, just as the place they'd been kept at.

The thought made the wrinkles etched into his skin tense. He scratched at them, shaded the map they carved with lines of his slivered nails and only stopped when the woman disappeared around the corner nearby.

"You might think they never leave their rebellious age. Always thinking they are old enough to do it themselves, do they?", he mused, wary of the work awaiting him once he'd have to belong here for her.

Wrong place, his associate voiced into his thoughts and with a huff, Peregrin got up. Indeed, the local park seemed not to be the right place to be at right now. He may belong with his human clothes, mundane necessities, and his associate in dog-shape, but he was supposed to belong where he was needed.

"Lead the way then.", he grumbled, heaved his body from the bench and leaned on his cane much more than what was accepted of a person tasked with his duty.

A shiver raked down his spine. Just the thought of more to come made his toes curl and the thin hairs on his arms stand up.

They shouldn't have robbed you of the promised apprentice. You're getting less and less useful with each day passing.

A gentle breeze playfully ruffled his associate's golden fur, and for a second, a breathtaking starry sky dotted the plain cover it had chosen. Peregrin wanted to say something, but as always, even the slightest glance of his associate’s true form had left him speechless. It stilled, possibly felt the admiration in his old eyes, and watched him warily.

The being of golden fur, ancient times, and starry skies, however, did not focus on his servant's admiration. It caught a notion of anger boiling in the too old man, smelled the rapid passing of his time, and couldn't help but stare at the figure who'd spend his entire life at it’s side. His hair - back then a rich earthy brown and now as white and thin as the finest tuff of frozen air - had very much its own ideas about how it wished to arrange itself but his servant did not bother about the way it curled over his forehead and robbed him of his vision. He simply stood hunched over the cane, anger edging into the air, bones creaking, and lungs rasping with every breath.

It seemed like yesterday where this one - the first one to earn his very own name - had made his first step, spoken his first word, and harvested his first secret.

Not long, and I’ll be able to pick someone more capable anyway. No matter his current restrictions, it thought to itself and nudged it’s servant's leg.

Eastway it is, it commanded and together, they disappeared.
