I made a free 2-page TTRPG about dueling mech pilots trying to put each other to bed. This was done for @efangamez's Sleepy September jam! (I challenged myself to just do it in 48 hours because that's Fun, but it might mean some of the numbers are off-- I'll do a balance pass if necessary and reblog that here if I do so!) You can just download the images above or get it in PDF form on itch here!

TTRPG Release: Her Odyssey Risograph Edition!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her Odyssey is a solo journaling RPG about a wanderer trying to return home - or find a new home.
Originally released on Itch.io last January, my first TTRPG, Her Odyssey, is now out in physical zine format! I'm thrilled to partner with Knave of Cups to produce this all-new edition with bespoke art and layout by AYolland.
What is Her Odyssey?
A rules-light single-player RPG following a wanderer who has lost something, is shadowed by something from her past, and/or is seeking something... How long will it be before she can find her way home?
Perfect for helping you build out a rich world, explore the backstory of a mysterious character, guide you on a grand journey - or all three at once
Endlessly flexible and customizable, with dozens of open-ended Hazard prompts and four optional variant rules for the perfect genre and level of difficulty
Requires a deck of cards, a handful of d4s (at least one, but five is ideal), and a place to record your story
Ideally played as a daily ritual for a game lasting up to two months per playthrough - or can be played in four to six hours in a single sitting
Originally built on Caltrop Core by TitanomachyRPG, and became the forerunner for my own Aspire SRD
You can get this limited-edition Risograph Zine for $12, exclusively at Knave of Cups. (And you can also pick up a pack of d4s and a deck of playing cards there, if you need them!)
And you can also pick up a PDF of Her Odyssey - both the original edition and the updated-layout version - for free on Itch.

I am so excited to finally release my game about ghosts, gothic horror, and Spiritualism, Thinly Veiled!
Thinly Veiled is a hack of Good Society that extends the world of Jane Austen into the Victorian era, and includes the restless dead. It facilitates stories about ghosts, hauntings, and how human beings deal with societal oppression and repression. The game allows players to explore these themes by emulating contemporary Gothic fiction and ghost stories.
To enable this, Thinly Veiled includes two choices of temporal setting, situated in and around the same Yorkshire settlement of Meddon-in-the-Moor. In the Regency era, Meddon-in-the- Moor is a small village that has fallen from prominence as a weaving village and faces an uncertain future. In the Victorian era, Meddon-in-the-Moor’s fortunes have revived as new technologies enable iron mining, and the village has become a local industrial center — and home to a thriving community of Spiritualists.
For 3-5 players, one of whom should already have access to Good Society.

COMING NOV 22 - CATS KNOW THINGS
Tumblr media
CATS KNOW THINGS is a light-hearted game meant to tell a humorous story of intrigue, all while pretending to be a very nosy cat.
But you are no ordinary cat.
You are a very special feline who, through some magic you cannot explain, can communicate with your human, an individual who wishes to make their mark in society by any means necessary. The two of you decide to start a society page, (a very fancy type of tabloid newspaper dedicated to a particular location) revealing the glitz, glamour, and inner turmoil of the town’s most notable individuals.
As the cat you will travel across town, using your stealth and wiles to listen in on the most intimate conversations and encounters. At the end of the day you return to your human to relay to them all the town’s salacious gossip for the society page. The goal is to prepare 6-8 items for the newspaper before your human sends them to the presses for the week.
CATS KNOW THINGS will be available on our Itch.io store at 9am PST on November 22!! Please reblog to get the work out! We're really excited to share this game with you!

I’m going to assume that at this point you’ve all seen Critical Role’s new show Candela Obscura and at least skimmed through the Quickstart Guide (you have done all that riiiight??) So I wanted to compile all the things I’ve done that have been shown so far. Its long so read below the line!
I’m going to try to avoid spoilers. So feel free to read without worry. I’m also going to try and avoid breaking any NDA like a good professional. So I will not be doing some deep dive behind the scenes thing. Only visuals that have already been publicly shared are going to be on here
Tumblr media
The very first thing I did on this show was the concepts for the main set. Everything is practical. Nothing is green screen or cg or whatever. Some people think it’s just good cg but nope that's all real. You could touch it! (don’t touch it, there are ghosts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were multiple iterations on the design, each with their own vibe and statement piece. CR narrowed it down to what you see in the show: a sort of storage hall with an odd clock contraption behind the GM. I think I called this design version the “Abyssal Hall” or something like that (I gave the different versions names to better keep track of which design was being discussed)
The company Flip This Bitch built the physical set. They turned my silly little art into a real thing. So they did all the actual magic of making this set come together in the end! They deserve a lot of the credit for it looking so good in the end.
Also that little piece of art in the bottom left of the preshow is a section from the final concept art of the set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That contraption behind Matt is based on astrolabes and clocks. This isn’t really meant to be a literal astrolabe or a clock as we would use them in our world. Narratively this isn’t a device that measures either of the things that a traditional astrolabe or clock does. This is a special magickal tool that does a secret third thing.
Tumblr media
Also I did concepts for the GM screen. You don't really see it besides in the fancy-shmancy preshow. There were a number of more intricate designs for it but CR went with the simpler option since the only part that would be visible on stream is the top, so that's where I put the most detail.
I should also note that I did not design the logo! It’s pretty prominent on the GM screen but I was supplied an already existing logo for this.
Tumblr media
NEXT is the Taliesin enclosure set that you see in the trailer. This is actually meant to be like the lantern room on the top of a lighthouse, minus the big light beacon (You could say Taliesin is the beacon).
Also in the trailer you see a couple brief sketches I did for some world building concepts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of sketches there are a number of art pieces of mine in the Quickstart guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of my art is sketches. They’re all meant to be like notes and drawings from members of Candela as they travel and notate their findings. Most of the notes on these sketches are my actually my notes when I was doing world building concepts, but they replaced my handwriting with a font because my handwriting sucks lmao (also likely for ease of future localization).
Also the cover of the Quickstart guide uses line art of a part of that astrolabe clock set piece. This line art was part of the deliverables that was sent over to Flip This Bitch for construction. They’re just using pieces of those set concepts everywhere!
Tumblr media
As you can see I’ve done a lot of art for this project. I was part of this project when it was still early in development. It’s changed quite a bit from where we started.
I wasn’t the only one that made all this art happen though. Other artists, writers, and designers got to add their own vision to this. It was very much a collaborative effort that took a long time to happen. It’s very exciting to see everyone’s hard work come to fruition and there is a lot more to come!

Pitcrawler digital is here!
Behold! The digital edition of Pitcrawler is here!
...if you backed it on IndieGoGo, at least. The rest of you will have to wait another month or two to Behold! it, I'm afraid.
It's been a real labour of love this last year to get it all ready for folks, and we're so happy to be sharing it. If you backed the campaign, you should have it in a Backerkit email that came through to you inbox (or your spam if your computer's suspicious) last week. If you haven't had it, let us know.
And for everybody else, here's a little tast of what's to come after we've sorted printing and it goes public.

VAST Guides are here!
By using VAST, you can learn how to add accessibility tags for screen readers to your PDFs, by using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.
I'm super excited to release a brand new publishing community resource: VAST (or Visual Accessibility Skills Toolkit).
VAST is a collection of short articles aiming to spread awareness about what visual impairments are, and how folks in the small press industry can accommodate them.
The guides are split into four sections:
Visual Impairment 101 explores what visual impairments are, how visually impaired people navigate digital content, and introduces some current language and definitions (circa 2023).
Screen reading PDFs explores the basics of how screen readers navigate through digital content. Includes video examples!
Using InDesign introduces different tools that designers can use to make their documents more accessible.
Putting Into Practice presents case studies of common structures in roleplaying games, and how they could be given accessibility tags using tools covered in section 3. (Coming soon!)
Tumblr media
VAST was developed by Brian Tyrrell (me!), and disability advocate and accessibility consultant Yubi Coates. Visually impaired consultants and InDesign experts were brought in to corroborate the guides.
All of the information in the guides is up to date, and we’re committed to reviewing and updating the guides in 2024 and 2025.
This project was completed using a small pot of funding provided by Creative Scotland’s Create: Inclusion program in 2022.

ONESIX HYPERFIX(ED)
A free 2+ player hyperfixating TTRPG I made, and goofed up, now fixed!
You are having a normal, mundane conversation together— which is exactly the problem, it isn’t about your hyperfixation!
You can get the PDF version on the itch page (and donate if you're so inclined), or download the image version below!
Tumblr media
Now the elephant in the room, how did I goof up? So, you'll notice how the above image is kinda split into two halves. That top half was the original game.
I uh...accidentally opened my half letter format in Publisher when I first made ONESIX HYPERFIX. So it wasn't great for printing as a single pager, like at all.
I had also upped my layout game for it, and I couldn't simple scale it up to fit a full letter!
So, I made the layout vertical, and added a second "page" full of optional frame and hyperfixation tables. Not only does this mean you can uh...actually print the thing now, it should also help you enjoy ONESIX HYPERFIX for longer, and enable you to have more fun with it!
I also took the opportunity to clean up some minor design flaws that had been bothering me for a bit, and made all the tables have rounded corners (as I finally figured how to do so)!
The original half letter format is still included as optional files, for those with sharp objects and a dream.
I won't repeat this mistake in the future, and I apologize to my A4-using friends for the close margins here, unfortunately that couldn't be resolved easily. My other single pagers are properly formatted for both letter and A4 paper, as will my future games!

New Release for Deviant: the Renegades
Do you get the Origins mixed up (Epimorph and Exomorph sound awful close)? Ever wondered what the word cohort means or why a group of Renegades might be called that? Do you have a hard time visualizing what a Threat Level 3 Chronicle might look like?
I released my first PWYW title on Storyteller's Vault this morning: Dissecting Deviant to help with these problems. It has the real-world scientific and medical context for Deviant terms explained in easy-to-understand chunks, as well as expanded descriptions of the named threat levels based on the names' definitions and levels' stats.

The Goblin Market: the weirdest and most colorful cast of merchants you’ll ever meet!
Picture it: Sicily, 1922 my desk, 2023. I have just gotten back from a raucous day on the town, and am relaxing with my emotional support water bottle while browsing the internet in a sleep-deprived reverie. My mind wanders the dimly flashing streets of neural pathways, before being struck by the Truck of Realization that I have been derelict in my duty of talking about amazing ttrpg stuff!
I’ve talked about the Certified TERF Hated collection of NPCs The Goblin Market by my good friend @europaprisonmoon before here, and I believe it’s worth talking about again!
I’ll start off with this description from the itch.io page itself which perfectly encapsulates the colorful array of characters your party can meet:
The Goblin Market is a system agnostic collection of over fifty merchants, monsters and even stranger things which can be dropped into your campaign to add weirdness and magic for your players: retired river gods, escaped nightmares, tea merchants, wicker basket mechs, predatory graves, vengeful dragons seeking to raise an army to defeat tyrannical princesses, off-duty demons, magical roboticists, mystery cults, accidentally immortal witches, and many more.
This supplement is a treat to read, with Tryphosa Tucker Thimbling capturing my heart and mind from the moment I met her! A milliner with “fur like the finest humus” and piebald donkey ears adorned with beautiful golden bells, Tryphosa loves tea - of the drink and gossip varieties. Have you ever felt your PC was missing something? Some critical aspect leaving them sorely lacking? It is obviously that they need a hat from Tryphosa! Turn heads with a cap made of fantastical materials; you’ll never have to worry again about entering a bar/saloon/communal watering hole and facing someone with the same hat as you.
If for whatever reason Tryphosa doesn’t strike your fancy, why not a quartet of large albino rats joined at the tails? The Quartet (or was it once The Quintet?) sells uncandles, a perfect gift for the brooding rogue in your party! Fashioned from shadows and darkness, the uncandles will bring a comfortable gloom to any room.
Best of all, The Goblin Market is on sale for just under $8 until July 13th! That’s less than 16 cents per NPC. The NPCs are connected to each other, so you can throw as many or as few into your game, and you’ll never be at a loss for people your players can talk to!
