Reader was dream who had had a crush on the king of dreams as long as she could remember. When he was kidnapped, she thought she’d never see him again, and the grief was slowly turning her into a nightmare with every passing day. She was sitting in one of Dream’s favorite spots when he returned, and the sight took her breath away. Before she fully realized it she was running toward him, and she threw herself into his arms. She studied his face and was barely able to keep herself from kissing him.

Morpheus had walked away and let you go, for now.

You wandered the streets pondering his words. They echoed in your head like a loud siren.

What did he mean?

Morpheus had many things on his mind, including tracking down Rose Walker.

When he found her, she told him of a strange reoccurrence that kept happening in her dreams.

A woman, sad and weeping. And when she turned around her eyes were black, infection travelling out of the sockets spreading around her face, reaching out to Rose.

But she said it felt warm, lonely. The woman uttered the Lord's name like it was a prayer.

This nightmare sounded oddly familiar.

"Did she tell you her name?"

Morpheus returned to his palace with hurried steps.

"My lord, did you manage to find Rose Walker?" Lucienne asked, noticing his panicked expression.

"We'll talk about it later Lucienne, I must find this new nightmare."

He found you perched against one of the many large trees in Fiddler's Green.

You looked so...alluring.

You sensed his presence a few yards away. You opened your eyes, focusing them on the black cloaked figure in the distance.

"Morpheus."

You rose, breathlessly running towards him.

Once you were close enough, your enveloped him in a hug. "Morpheus, you must forgive me, your absence has turned me into this."

Dream paused, contemplating you words, yet he still gave you no answer.

"Please, I don't want to be like this anymore. Please, please you must forgive me."

Morpheus took your arms and slightly pushed you away so he could look into your eyes.

"I forgive you"

He felt guilty when he saw your eyes lighten.

"But the mortals will not."

He stepped away.

"No."

He raised his hand,

"Morpheus, please..."

The sand eased out like a wave.

"Please-"

And you were gone.

He loved you.

Oh, how he loved you.

But humanity could never forgive you.

Tom Sturridge 1984

So, I watched a bootleg of the play... and omg, fucking hell. Not only am I jealous of Olivia Wilde who had some sexy kisses with Tom (and there has been a gif of a hug on here that is the sexiest hug I've ever seen) but this play is brutal. The third act is insane. Tom just showcases how amazing he is at what he does. You would never know he was British, he does a tortured I-just-got-electrocuted-multiple-times-and lost-some-brain-cells voice really well. He is amazing as Winston.

I will message the link to people for those who want to watch as I don't want to make it public. Also, be aware that the video quality isn't the best. And all the trigger warnings. This play is dark as fuck... so watch with care.

This morning, you had been presented to the Queen as a candidate for the Diamond of the Season. This would make you more appealing to the eyes of the men of the ton. Marriage proposals would be thrown at your feet, and they would stop at nothing to take your hand and make you theirs.

Marriage didn’t interest you much like it did the other Ladies, like it once did your sister Daphne.

But when the Queen said those exact words she said to Daphne a season ago, you knew that now you had to at least acknowledge the mere act.

“Flawless, my dear.”

The ladies and their mamas eagerly waited for the Queen to announce who would be her diamond of the season. They chatted about what they would do if they had been chosen, and their mothers were eyeing each other with wicked looks from across the ballroom.

The sound of trumpets interrupted everyone's conversations and the Queen started her speech.

“Your presence has been noted. And your Queen most appreciative.”

Violet Bridgerton stood anxiously with her daughter, the rest of her children scattered somewhere around the room.

“Allow it to now be my honour to present to you the seasons diamond.”

Violet wafted herself nervously with her fan.

Queen Charlotte looked around the room carefully, inspecting each of the debutantes, when her eyes fell on you.

You were guzzling down a glass of lemonade, not noticing the apprehensive silence.

“Miss Y/n Bridgerton.”

You lifted your head with question, who was calling your name?

It was when you noticed your mothers look, that everyone else was looking at you too.

“Is something wrong?” You silently asked your mother.

Brimsley came up to you, offering his arm. You had no choice but to take it, utterly confused.

The whole room was silent as they waited for the name of the Queen’s diamond.

What was the point of a Diamond of the Season?

Morpheus hated this time of the year. It was the same every year. He would watch men gamble away all of their money and then pretend like they were interested in these filthy rich women, when all they cared about was those little golden coins that would fill their pockets and their banks.

He also hated this time of year because it was where eligible ladies of the ton would come asking for a proposal from him.

He wasn’t going to marry.

Ever.

He wouldn’t live life trapped, unhappy and committed to a piece of paper.

He wouldn’t enslave himself to unrequited love.

“No way.” His friend, Anthony Bridgerton, pulled him from his thoughts.

Morpheus looked towards the man that would always follow the Queen around. And on his arm was a woman he was sure he recognised from somewhere.

“Isn’t that your sister, Bridgerton?” Morpheus watched her move with hesitant steps.

It was clear that she wasn’t expecting to be the season’s diamond at all.

“Indeed it is Morpheus. Doesn’t she look beautiful?” Anthony wore a proud smile on his face as he watched you be presented to the Queen.

Morpheus envied Anthony’s relationship with his siblings. He wished he could be like that with his own.

“I suppose she is rather appealing.”

You felt a pair of eyes on you as you walked up to the Queen.

Well, everyone’s eyes were on you, they either held envy or resentment.

But this felt different.

It was burning holes into your skull. And it had a hint of curiosity.

You shifted your gaze from the Queen’s eyes to the ones you felt on the left to you.

Your eyes met with striking blue rings, nothing like a blue you’d ever seen before. They made your heart skip a beat.

Both of your eyes slightly widened at the contact, but you had to unfortunately cut it short when your hand was given to the Queens.

The both of you left the ball that night with an electricity zapping at your hearts. All it took was that first glance to know you were intrigued.
