anyway bear's mafia is getting too big and they need sm1 on the inside. enter tim.
tim is a police legacy. his dad was a policeman and so was his father's father and on it goes
and he might've made it onto captain wayne's team but he's desperate to prove to the force that he's not a fuckin nepo baby
so he takes the job. enter bernard who only meets tim after he's been on the mission for a year now.
bear quickly takes a liking to this new recruit who's efficient and smart and has the tiniest waist he's ever seen.
and tim goes along with this liking cause hey information from the top will be more valuable right?
and they fall into this fuckbuddies relationship that quickly becomes way more. because like fuck bear looks at tim like he's worth smth
like he's more than what his parents have set out for him. like he's somebody. like he loves tim for tim. and not for what tim can do for him.
and fuck he loves bear and his smiles. the way his eyes crinkle and his gums show. he loves the way bear looks with a gun in his hands and he knows that's fucked up but the first time he saw bear with a gun in his hands and blood splattered across his face he had to actively stop himself from jumping bear in front of the mafia. and no matter how rough bear is when he's on the field he always caresses tim's cheeks with a softness tim didn't know was possible

bc it doesn't matter that tim'll be his downfall. it doesnt matter that tim doesnt really love him or care about him. that it's only a mission for tim bc tim is the best thing bear's life.
he is the sun to bear's moon. the first word on his lips when he wakes up and the last when he goes to sleep.
and he loves every version of tim -- when he's caustic and biting, when he's blissed out in bed covered in the marks bernard left, when he's laughing, when he's crying
every version on tim is a version he likes. and one of these days, his pretty bird is going to have to leave their nest but at least bear can hold tim until then
at least bear can press promises into his thighs. at least he can whisper his devotion into the crook of tim's neck. at least he can leave marks on tim -- lovebites on his neck, handprints on his thighs and hips -- a tapestry that says "i was here. and i loved him. i love him and i am here."

think my gripes with loveless is just everything post-goura
#pretty much every problem i have with characterization and plot can be summed up to loveless really really sucks and is not interesting#after volume 8#save for moonless#but imagine how much better they could've been if loveless remained kind of good and intriguing#like after a certain point i see seimei's face and it's like. Ok. thanks#i don't think there are any real choices being made in the plot and characters after a certain point#it's just like. Yun kouga got bored and/or she genuinely doesn't know where loveless is supposed to go. probably both#i did like nisei's backstory chapters! the nisei and seimei stuff#and obviously the flashbacks at septimal moon/seven voices were very interesting! but a lot of it felt kind of tossed in! what with the#inconsistencies with nagisa's sister#lest we forget loveless just kinda started out as a self indulgent put everything i like into one manga thang#which media being like this is sometimes awesome To Me but comes with risks that are not so awesome#the thing with loveless is that it's good but majorly pretty bad. like really bad#i do love loveless though i think it's genius and the best manga of all time don't get it twisted#LOVELESSNATION

my take on ship discourse is that ppl should ship what they want but also you gotta be okay with ppl not liking certain ships for reasons you don't consider a big deal. and you gotta be okay with them complaining about it (outside of ship tags). someone not liking ships with age gaps, for example, does not automatically make them an "anti" or w/e, thinking ppl should enjoy whatever fictional thing they want =/= automatically being okay with it all yourself. i don't think it's that complicated

There were three stages to my development as a Juri fan.
Stage one, you are 100% pro Juri and too emotionally close to the conflict, and thus it hurts when Shiori does anything. Wtf was Ruka's part of the story even about.
Stage two, you relate to Juri just a liiiitttle too much. And you become a Shiori apologist. Shiori may be mean but she's not THAT bad. I mean, Juri is pretty cold to her too. Surely there's a REASON Juri liked her in the first place. Also Ruka GET AWAY FROM THEM.
Stage three, you are now a fan of both Juri and Shiori but please please please stay away from each other til you've both got years worth of shit figured out. Shaking Juri by the shoulders- i get it, i understand, but GET OVER IT. Cheering loudly at the scene where the locket is cut off. Appreciating Ruka's narrative for shaking them out of their patterns (but still hating him so so much and laughing when he dies offscreen). Get therapy please girls. And then, if after lots of self reflection and improvement you still love each other, THEN... you should keep going to therapy but also add couple's therapy into the mix.

Fuck it, weird-yet-galaxy-brain take is that Love Is War is rom-com Death Note, but not in regard to the ship that everyone thinks, and what I mean by this is that Kaguya and Miyuki are NOT the lighthearted lower-stakes rom-com version of Light and L, they're the lighthearted lower-stakes rom-com version of Near and Mello.
