Kaguya sama (and Akasaka's writing in general) has three categories of gay stuff in it: the unintentionally gay girl friendships, the intentional yuribait, and the actually heavily implied (or canon) stuff. Chika manages to have all three.
ANIME GIRL WIN ANIME GIRL WIN SHE IS PANSEXUAL SHE IS BISEUXAL SHE IS QUEER HER LOVE TRANSCENDS GENDER EVERYONE POP YOUR BOTTLES FOR CHIKA FUJIWARA
[Image description: a mangacap from Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, depicting Chika Fujiwara and Kaguya Shinomiya with their backs to the viewer. Describing Chika, the narrator says, "For her, the concept of 'love' transcends all gender." On either side of it are gifs of Chika dancing from the anime.]
I just noticed about kaguya's hand cuz it's the same nail ornament she used to make Miyuki notice her in S1 and there's a "MEMORY" book which means whatever we're seeing now is a part of her memories and past. Also the fact that she's wearing a ring which symbolizes her marriage and she's going through her old memory book.
One thing that I love about “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” is that the series, as a whole, works as a sort of deconstruction of the romcom genre (specifically, the romcom genre in manga/anime). I’ve written multiple posts about this already, but one example of how the series works as a deconstruction is that when the series finally has the two leads kiss, we’re only halfway into the story.
Yeah, in most other series, the end is the confession and the kiss. In “Kaguya-Sama”, one could argue that the REAL story begins AFTER the first kiss.
man i like that their story ‘ends’ like how miyuki and kaguya’s story started but also i wanted ishimiko to happen so bad
ishigami and miko were literally witnesses to miyuki’s and kaguya’s love is war shit and now they’re doing their own love is war shit??? how does that make sense at all
i will absolutely read another 278 chapters of a spinoff if it means ishimiko happens for real
Fujisaka as a ship is such an anomaly. You've got the most divisive character and the comic relief in Kaguya sama and one of the most beloved and tragic characters in the same manga. They're also narrative foils and opposites in term of characterisation. We've seen them have like 10 interactions in a 270+ chapters manga. But all of those interactions are so great and us 20 Fujisaka fans are obsessed with them. Also it's heavily implied that one has feelings for the other.
Okay, anime and manga fans and/or shippers talk about how series blueballed them by not having characters get together…but this might be biggest instance of that ever (barring the final chapters showing that the two of them did get together)
