I think the cutest thing to come out of the aoc dlc is the little scenes they show once you beat the whole thing. Because there’s one where teba, revali, and tulin are in rito village and tulin is napping on revali’s lap. and tulins blanket like slides off or something and revali, very reluctantly, pulls it back up to cover him 😭
AND TEBA JUST WATCHES IT HAPPEN AND LAUGHS 😭

“Twi?”
The man in question turned, looking around for whoever called him. He spotted Time in the doorway, waved towards him.
“Daruk let me in. I brought your coat,” He grinned, handing the item in question to Twi. He let his hand run across the faux fur lining the hood.
“You doing alright? Wild still need a ride home?” Time asked. It was one of the few times Wild and Twi’s shifts didn’t line up.
“If you could ple- hold on a second,” Twilight said, moving away. He’d noticed something at the bar.
Warriors looked tired. More than that, he looked like he was about to pass out from exhaustion. He’d already gotten to work five minutes late and obviously even more stressed than usual. And now…
Twi reached out and gently shook Wars’ shoulder. Wars shot up with a gasp.
“Sorry, sorry. Just me. Didn’t want you to get in trouble.”
Wars shook himself and rubbed his eyes hard.
“No, no thanks, thanks. Sorry. ‘M sorry,”
“Hey, it’s okay. Are you doing okay?”
Warriors made a sort of humming noise.
“ ‘s been a long day,” He said, gently swaying. Twi grabbed one of the bar stools and made him sit on it.
“You sure you’re okay? When’s the last time you ate?”
“ ‘ll eat on my lunch break,” Wars said.
Twi’s brow furrowed, and he leaned over to check the break list behind the bar.
“That’s in two minutes…” He said gently, “You should head back there now, it’ll take that long to get back there.”
Teba came up to them.
“Sorry I’m back late, got caught up with a customer,” he said, making a face. Twi gave him a sympathetic wince.
“Wars? You okay?” Teba asked, noticing his coworker.
“Would you make sure he gets back to the break room and gets food? I can watch the bar,” Twilight said in a low voice, “He’s not doing so hot.”
Teba’s mouth flattened in worry, and he nodded. Twi would count it a win if he didn’t go full dad mode until they got to the break room.
“Everything alright?” Time asked from behind him.
“Not sure,” Twi said.
“Was he alright?”
Twi shrugged, “I don’t know. He’s been having a rough time of it for a while. This is his second job. I think he might work with Sky at his other one. He’s trying to support two younger brothers.” Time nodded in acknowledgment. Raising siblings was hard, but in this economy?
He didn’t envy the kid.

try as he might to rise to his feet again, wings pushing tulin up from the ground, he simply couldn’t manage, dropping to the ground against with a pained huff. yet mere seconds after eyes closed, the sound of flapping feathers caught his attention from up above, blue gaze squinting upward to catch the familiar visage of his father, a sense of comfort instantly washing over the young rito upon finding himself within his embrace. small, tired body leans close against teba’s own form, snuggling briefly, a slight sigh of relief exiting his lungs.
“d-dad, i’m ... i’m sorry for sneaking away, i thought ...” eyebrows knot slightly as an excuse slips past his beak, not wanting his father to be furious with his usual reckless antics, yet quickly falls silent again with heat and pain being too much for him to handle. tulin may be one of the most skilled within the village, but he was still so young. “i ... just wanna go home.”

Got me thinking about a previous drawing you did: where Teba and Saki adopted Revali, has there ever been a time when Revali accidentally called Teba 'dad'?
Revali says stuff when he gets too tired.
One time he went home late and Teba just wouldn't stop asking him questions, Hylia, he was so tired he could only say "Yeah, sure thing, dad" and went to bed. Teba just stood there like "He.. he called me dad.." and Saki shouted from the kitchen "He called me mom before, you're not special". Revali didn't remember, and they didn't bring it up.

Okay, so you mentioned that Wild was another favorite... Headcanons please? [Watch me just keep doing this until I see every single boy get headcanons XD]
Yeah so I'm just gonna keep doing these lol. Let's see if I can get through all the boys by the end of the weekend.
Wild Headcanons!
As before, here’s the giant mis-mash of canon/LU canon/fanon/headcanon that I use for writing Wild.
Genderfluid. Defaulted to ‘he’ after waking up because it’s what everyone around him assumed, got slapped in the face in Gerudo Town with how good it felt to be called ‘she.’ Zelda knows to use ‘she’ when Wild is dressed a certain way, but it’s Hyrule who brings up the idea of being gender neutral and Warriors who introduces them both to the term ‘genderfluid’ and to using ‘they’ as a pronoun. Basically, Wild is slowly collecting pronouns like candy and it’s very exciting. They can’t wait to share the new things they’ve discovered on the topic and how they think it applies to them with Zelda; she’ll be just as happy about it as they are. Still mostly defaults to ‘he’ out of a combination of habit and continuing to figure out good signals for when their pronouns change, but that is shifting as time goes on.
Functionally aro/ace, at least for now. He’s focusing on rediscovering who he is and establishing familial and platonic relationships. Will probably hit one hell of an experimental phase before too much longer.
Wild’s journey/story arc is largely one of experimentation and self discovery. Curiosity is the driving force behind most of the decisions he makes. (Along with just having fun. Wild loves to have fun.)
Adventure buddies with Hyrule. They pretty much bonded instantly over their shared love of exploration and nature.
Has lots of similarities with Wind even though they don’t see eye to eye on certain topics. (Kings of Hyrule, anyone?) When Wild is feeling their silliest or just needs to have some fun to let off steam, Wind is the one they turn to.
Slightly intimidated by Warriors and Sky. Warriors seems a model knight, something Wild feels he failed to be and maybe even slightly resents. Sky also talks about being in the Knight Academy, and of course there was the whole thing with the Master Sword. Wild very much does not want Sky to get mad at him again. Nobody likes it when Sky is mad at them.
Obviously has strong familial feelings towards Twilight, and by extension Time
Has sass, generally more positive than Legend but not afraid to throw hands
Occasionally has depressive episodes and the memory-flashbacks
Wild doesn’t actually cook all the groups’ meals. He’s not the only one who is competent around a cook pot, he’s just the most passionate about it. And also the one who keeps most of the group’s food, given the slate’s ability to keep food fresh.
Wild is in fact very frustrated and somewhat humiliated by the shitty quality of his weapons, now that he’s seen enough of the others to know that none of them have the same issues with stuff just breaking as he does. Knowledge of how to care for and maintain weapons was not one of the things that carried over from his previous life, plus he keeps doing things like hitting frigging rocks with his blades. The others are slowly teaching him better.
Adrenaline. Junkie.
Thinks of their past self as a stranger who happened to inhabit their body. Had anxiety-induced muteness pre-calamity, began talking again after they woke up. They did retain sign language. Will occasionally default to it if their throat is paining them.
Has a bit of a rasp due to vocal chord damage that the shrine didn’t quite fix all the way; his voice starts to get tired if he does a lot of talking. The scars sometimes cause him mobility issues. The masseuse in gerudo town gave him oil for them and taught him how to massage the tissue to help, but he tends to forget to do it.
Hair is constantly tangled. He takes a stab at brushing it most days but not nearly thoroughly or often enough to keep it from turning into a horrible rats nest.
Is it gonna be fun? Great it’s a good idea let’s go.
Considers basically everybody in his Hyrule to be his family. Has adopted family in pretty much every race, village, and stable. His Hyrule loves him and he loves them back. Kass and Teba are like dads. Riju is his BFF and fellow pun enthusiast. The villagers of Hateno are especially protective of both him and Zelda once she comes to live with him there. There’s Impa and Dorian in Kakariko. Sidon and Paya are both potential Significant Other material if he ever becomes interested in that stuff. He gets fussed over in all the stables, greeted with enthusiasm in Tarrey Town and with the Gorons… Most of the citizens of his Hyrule don’t have any association between him and what happened 100 years ago, they just know him as the person who made things better this time.
Falls into a sibling relationship with their Zelda post-adventure. Neither of them have any interest in restoring the system that failed both of them so badly, especially after all the time that has elapsed. Zelda is quite happy with the opportunity to just be herself, exploring and experimenting and re-establishing relationships of her own.
One of the more religious of the group. He prays and leaves offerings at every statue, in every temple. Wild’s Hyrule has very active spirits and a large variety of religions, both ancient and current. (Hylia, the little ancestor statues all over the place, the dragons, the Gerudo seven, Malanya…) Wild’s personal experience has been that paying basic respects leads to good things (finding Koroks, increases in health and stamina, someone watching out for his horses…)
Wild takes lots of pictures, not just of people but of places and plants and animals. He’s recording his travels to show Zelda when he gets home. He knows she would kill him if he didn’t.

Random but do you Stan bird dad Teba? More importantly, do you like the idea of Teba being the adopted father for the New Gen Champions + Link (+ Revali)?
I sincerely have no idea how long this has been here, so apologies if it’s been sitting in my inbox for a while. ;-;
As much as I love the “found family” trope, putting Teba in a paternal role is kinda tough. A big brother role? Especially to Link? Absolutely. He seems happy to take Link under his wing (yeah, sorry, couldn’t resist) and has his protective moments, like if Link gets tired and falls during the Medoh battle, but he otherwise seemed to act more in a general familial role than a specifically paternal role. We don’t see him act in a teaching role to Link: if anything, he is quite happy with Link taking a teacher role with his son. When they went against Medoh, they went as partners, with Teba trusting Link to finish the fight after Teba was too injured to continue.
So yeah. Familial role? Absolutely. A specifically paternal role? Nah. And there’s also the question of “Does Link need a paternal figure?” I haven’t seen any sign of it. He’s young, yes, but he is tough, independent, and is pretty wild. So nah. I don’t see him needing that specific role played (and if so, not by a young, also wild parent like Teba.. maybe someone more established and solid like King Dorephan). Fortunately, Teba seems ready to open his home to Link, welcome him into his family, and I have no doubt that he is willing to always lend an ear, even if Link should probably go elsewhere for sane advice.
Regarding the other Champions, especially Revali... Teba, as awesome as he is, remains a very young and pretty wild parent. He’s the big brother who hears you’re going to do something stupid and doesn’t act disapproving or tries to talk you out of it: he’s probably either going to be in the jail cell right beside you or is giving you barely legal or flat-out illegal advice based on his own experience how to stay out of that jail cell. But let’s go through the Champions.
Riju? Young, yes, but already a leader and, more importantly, a Gerudo. I don’t see her need a specifically paternal role. Chance of them committing crimes together, though? Quite high, although their argument would be that their crimes were beneficial to their people and their actions were solid.
Sidon? Is thoroughly covered thanks to King Dorephan. I can honestly see Teba side-eyeing his enthusiasm but providing some possibly terrifying Rito advice, probably along the lines of “you don’t apologize before, you apologize after. For what? For not asking permission. Asking permission for what? Whatever it is that needs done.”
Yunobo? Of all the Champions, he could probably benefit the best from a strong paternal role. Teba... just may not be the best source of it. Honestly, Teba encouraging Yunobo to be brave sounds both frightening and entertaining. I can see Yunobo taking his advice and running with it... possibly through multiple buildings, people, and explosive items.
Revali? I believe they have interactions in the new game, but I haven’t seen them. I see Revali responding best to an Elder: someone with plenty of years and experience on him, someone respectable, with their own background of heroic deeds. I can imagine Teba needing that perspective shift from “great Rito hero” to “holy fuck he still has spots on his cheeks,” but Revali’s self-esteem issues and general defensiveness are not going to let Teba slide neatly into a familial role like Teba did with Link. High chance of bloodshed with Urbosa facepalming on the sidelines.
King Dorephan? He’s old enough, mature enough, and experienced enough to merrily take a paternal role for many characters. King Rhoam can choke on a hammer. Robbie? Oh, fuck no. Kass? I can imagine him subtly taking the role for many characters with them having no clue he’s doing it.

Link being a big stupid fucking himbo and eating rocks at least once, possibly twice, getting egged on like a frat boy and enjoying every minute of it, doing the stupid nodding-to-help-you-swallow gesture FUCK
Mipha only barely chiding toddler-Sidon for going up against the lynel with just a spear, and mostly very proud of her little brother and delighted at his bravery he could have died Mipha
Impa. I love you so much Impa.

piloting the divine beasts looks stupid as hell but also fun as hell. like, pure power fantasy ROOTY TOOTY BOOM BOOM SHOOTY FUN. I WILL STOMP YOU TO DEATH WITH MY HOOVES FUN.
also really neat that the presence of the second champions increased the power and health of the divine beasts?? definitely lending credit to the theory that the divine beasts are actually linked to the souls of the champions.
hearing the classic, energetic, fun zelda theme while you absolutely beat astor’s shit in with a sudden power boost? very fun.
like this game had a TON of “look don’t worry about plot have some catharsis” moments and honestly i can’t fault them for that
Teba meeting his idol and being THOROUGHLY disappointed? very good.

ooc: welp i went ahead and spoiled AoC for myself, under the cut are spoilers you have been warned
im super disappointed in nintendo for making everyone live. the game would have been so powerful to have the true ending that leads straight into botw. but they just love their split timelines don’t they. not every game has to end happily at risk of spoiling spider man: miles morales that game has a very bitter sweet ending with death involved, and no one is complaining. i just don’t get why they had to ahead and ruin a timeline they already firmly set up. like the game was described as being a view into what happened before the 100 years, but its not that if you go and change the whole damn story.
like ngl if botw 2 takes place after aoc i’ll be kind of disappointed, like aoc erases everything from botw
like all the heartache and shit is erased in aoc, and it takes away everything that link and zelda fought for in botw in order for it to not happen, which is fine, but at the same time like calling forth the “new” champions from the future to fight alongside you isn’t an answer to the problem. it just creates a huge paradox
so from here on out are basically my thoughts to watching the cut scenes
its just bad writing, not to mention straight up stealing the fact that zelda and impa can understand the egg from droids and their “masters” from star wars, the egg is her music box... and plays her lullaby. like stop forcing the egg on us please
why can no one see hestu til zelda can? like scuse me, no link can see the giant brocoli just fine despite this cut scene. also hestu not remembering link in botw if this scene is real? like COME ON

the not ganon character is a seer who wants to control their own calamity possessed egg, and sooga is like its not for mortals to control
it is weird seeing link without the slate on his armor, there’s a place for it, but its like not there.
i know its hyrule warriors and you gotta have more than two people going but like impa being there at the spring of courage... like love her all you want but nah fam this aint it also it steals story elements away from link, i know the boy is selectively mute BUT JESUS give him something please
also its like link being the hero means nothing in terms of the slate and the towers, and then the shrines. its like all of it is meaningless in this game, which like revali says what’s the point of link then
calamity comes early? what the hell? this game. im so upset, but also like rhoam getting unnecessarily angry at link for doing what he’s supposed to like jesus fucking christ then he lowkey dies like okay
purah being there when zelda breaks down and its not just link... like the whole story of botw is like fucked, and zelda has time travel tears now
like all the things that happened in botw that built the characters is erased, like everything is a group effort which like is disappointing. i love how the new champions come BUT at the same time it defeats the point of the champions ballad, and the solo battles that link has to face.
alot of the story telling elements are repeated like more obviously than in botw which is saying something
all that the new champions are seeing is for nothing... like they will go back with these memories and it will suck cause they know the current state will have been changed and so what they see will be burdens they carried alone and for nothing for their future people
link’s sacrifice is for nothing, so thanks for diminishing that for me AOC. like him fending off the four blights unlocks zelda’s power but like seriously what is the point of him in this game, he is literally useless, like he straight up disappears. and her power isn’t unlocked via her love, but seeing link fight, and then thinking of the loss of her father

oh link is magically back now. why is he even in this game?
her father isn’t dead but was transported to the temple of time cause of a relic zelda and her mom found. THE PLOT ARMOR, its a shield its literal plot armor oh my god. which lead to her power awakening having no real meaning
literally everything from botw is unwritten, all the strife and everything that was fought for in botw is literally gone
i liked that teba was not a fan of revali’s attitude but like he then becomes a simp for him like dude you can still be in awe and think he’s a jerk to link and in general

the seer becomes sucked into ganon and the egg attacks zelda and link deflects its blast killing it... WHAT IS THIS WRITING
cool zelda is crying more over this damn egg than her people in BOTW, so zelda is like 5 when her mom dies in the castle (?) its not clear, and her dad is like training only now

things that i kinda like, and appreciate character wise
link gets flustered easily. revali revels in the fact that link will be the fallen knight and his reputation what little he has will be ruined, it is also well known that link is in fact a nobody meaning his family is not noble born, but that does not mean his family, read his father, on this blog is a nobody.

link is officially considered a champion, and talks with urbosa

sooga is the only character i want to see in botw2
link can teleport more than one person is confirmed, though three max is like it in a weakened state.
as much as i hate how many paradoxes this creates, yunobo and sidon’s enterances are very good, and teba’s and riju’s are similar. urbosa recognizing she’s in trouble is very in character for her imo.
i liked that all in hyrule worked together but like at what cost

like the scene is cool and all but we’re gonna be rewriting that bullshit. the only thing im taking from it is apparently link and the sword together have some courage power a-la zelda’s healing power... NOT THAT IT MATTERS CAUSE HE DOESN’T GET TO FUCKING USE IT

The story is very much zelda’s which it should be, but like every moment that could have been link’s was taken by another character because of how hyrule warrior’s opperates. like if you want to play as zelda this is your game
im just disappointed, it erases everything from botw quite literally. it gives the new champions memories that they bare alone because zelda and link wont be there in 100 years to help them with it...
link was useless in the game. like you could literally write him out and have the same game, having the master sword literally does fucking nothing because of how OP zelda is. like its called legend of zelda and rightfully so but Link becomes a literal footnote. purah and others takes his place in all the important scenes that were his before.
and like i said if BOTW2 takes place after this its gonna be disappointing and not as dark as nintendo is intending IMO, they should have let this game end the way it does in the lead up to BOTW, it would have been so much more rewarding in my opinion yes you “technically lose” but you would still get some awesome final moments with zelda, and it would hype you up for BOTW.
there were parts i liked obviously, but there were major issues, and this is JUST STORY BASED, im not even talking game play.
