you’re telling me, tim and marinette (who ingest so much coffee that experts are baffled at how the caffeine in their system hasn’t caused them to keel over yet) don’t have coffee integrated in the way they smell?
you’re telling me their mouths aren’t perpetually stained with the taste of coffee?
you’re telling me that this wouldn’t at all affect them when they kiss?
no no no, that simply won’t do.
he’s addicted to her lips as much as she’s addicted to his, and they kiss each other like they’re starving.

Marinette: Maybe...maybe you'll fall in love with me all over again?
Tim: Hell, I love you enough now. What do you want to do? Ruin me?
Marinette: Yes.
Marinette: I want to ruin you.
Tim: Good. That's what I want too.

Sugar and Spice
Chapter 1: Sugary Life
"Welcome to Sugar and Spice, what can I help you with tonight?" Marie happily greets the late-night customer, seeing how tired the male was she suspect that he would order a strong coffee.
"Put in as much caffeine as you legally can."
"Of course, sir. You can sit whenever you like." Marie put her hand out and gestured to the seat which he just gave a nod as an answer. "Your order will be done in a minute."
Seeing how the man relax, practically laying down on the seat, Marie headed to the back to prepare the order but just a little bit differently from what he asked. Just a small drop of her power to give the man the energy he desperately needs. Walking to the male who has his eyes strictly on the computer, Marie put down the cup. "Enjoy your stay, sir!"
Seeing how the man could not be bothered to answer her, she just went back to her place and clean up the rest of the empty seats. There are only two of them currently inside. She is not surprised to see the same male who looked like a living undead can be so alive, waiting for her at the register just a moment later.
"Are you a Goddess?" He asked so suddenly as soon as she is at the other side. Marie laughs a bit as she looks at the now-flustered man in front of her. 'Do being a demi-Goddess count?' She asked herself. "No, I'm sorry but I am not a Goddess." Technically speaking, she did not lie.
"I'm sorry for that...I don't know what came over me." The man apologizes, looking so defeated and embarrassed. His face can be said as red as blood. "No worries, sir." She said, trying to at least soothes the male even though she is struggling to keep her laugh inside.
"I just- your coffee is so energized I was wondering if you can share what made it so." Marie hums. She stares at the man with a small smile and just said. "That is a trade secret, I'm afraid."
He thinks about it and came to a conclusion which she guessed to just trying to get the coffee as much as he could. She could not be far from the truth.
"Can I get a second cup?"
"Of course, sir! Please just wait for a second."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tim is tired. Too tired in fact and he needs coffee so badly. He has work to do and things to investigate thoroughly and they just cut him up! They even benched him for the night until he has a proper rest. He could not believe this. Grumbling down he stops at quite a sight.
"Sugary and Spice Cafe..." A new cafe just opened up and he didn't know? Intriguing. He should probably try their coffee. If it's not up to his expectation, he probably won't come back here again. And because he is too tired to walk another couple of blocks to his usual cafe.
Walking inside, he could not be bothered to see the face of the loud and bright worker. "Put in as much caffeine as you legally can," he said.
"Of course, sir. You can sit whenever you like." The voice sounds so sweet to his ears now that he tried to listen, but still, he could not be bothered to react until he gets the taste."Your order will be done in a minute."
Sitting on the corner, Tim slumped down on the seat. He felt so at home and comfortable. Taking out his computer he began to type in whatever work he has. He needs to finish this as quick as possible. Not noticing the time, he felt a tap on the table. Seeing how the drink are now there he just nods his head and went straight back to work.
Sipping down the coffee he felt a large amount of energy being sucked into his body. He feels so energizes for what felt like an eternity. Seeing how his attention can come to the fullest he stares at the cashier he did not know when he arrived. As soon as she is in front of him his mouth opened.
"Are you a Goddess?" Perfect Tim, what a way to embarrass yourself! At least she is laughing out of amusement and not laughing at him. Wonder what the beautiful female in front of him is thinking about he watches her body language. "No, I'm sorry but I'm not a Goddess."
"I'm sorry for that...I don't know what came over me." Tim changes his body language to appear defeated, hopefully, she won't think of anything bad about him. "No worries, sir." She said. He knew that she is trying to ease him but he was still thinking of what he just said earlier.
"I just- your coffee is so energized I was wondering if you can share what made it so." She hums in amusement, that's what he thinks she does at least. He really wants to know the secret though. "That is a trade secret, I'm afraid."
He thinks about it and came to the conclusion that he would just have to go here every time he wants an energized coffee. He hums and nods his head, acknowledging her reason.
"Can I get a second cup?"
"Of course, sir! Please just wait for a second."
Finally! (One shot)
Pairing(s): Timothy Drake-Wayne/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Characters: Timothy Drake-Wayne, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and Original Female Character.
Summary: She was adamant to help her friend someone perfect for her. She saw her opportunity and gave them a little nudge. Thus, it begins. Will it finally work?
A/n: Inspired by my short prompt.
It was a regular busy morning for Graciela Kirovan the best barista in town, it was her unofficial reigning title for 5 years apparently. She didn't know how she landed herself with a coffee shop that she owned and somehow her shop brought so many couples together. Last time she checked, she didn't have any magic nor was she a meta.
She counted exactly 10 couples who were happily married that came to thank her for founding this coffee shop that led to their fateful encounter. She remembered those couples and their first meetings. She had even befriended them and they even invited her to their weddings.
It was the best feeling, she felt like cupid and her confidence rose. However, there's one thing that irked her and made her think that she had lost her mojo.
Ah! The subject of her thoughts came right on time to her shop. A beautifully petite woman came with a frazzled look. She gave the beautiful woman in front of her one of her warm smiles.
"Good Morning, Mari! The usuals?" She asked with a wink.
The woman, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, gave her a weak smile and nodded. It appears to be that she had a late night with her design project. Graciela had befriended the woman when she had first arrived in Gotham, looking for a place to have good coffee and perhaps a place to find inspiration for her designs.
Marinette had given her high praises for her brews and honestly, it made the cafe owner blush a few times. Marinette had confided that she was new in town and had no friends, well Graciela wasn't going to let that happen and offered her own hand in friendship.
Graciela then learned that Marinette is a famously known designer, however, preferred to hide behind her designer name to avoid attention. She learned that the girl came from Paris, France after the downfall of a villain that had held Paris under an emotional lockdown. That was news for the Gothamite, she didn't know that Paris has villains and superheroes.
Marinette then showed the fights that had occurred in France and introduced Graciela to the Parisian Superheroes. Ladybug was awesome. She became a fan. She would let Ladybug step on her and she would say thank you. Yes.
Anyways, Graciela then learned many things about Marinette's reason to move to Gotham. Learning about how her former friends treated her had Graciela's blood boiling. Since then, she had become fast friends with the designer to the point where she even let her stay after closing hours to let her immerse herself in her sketchbook.
"Thank you so much, Graciela. You have no idea how stressful this week had been for me." Marinette groaned as she roled her neck, the barista could even hear a few pops that made her wince.
"Ooof sounds like I need to up the caffeine. Go take a seat. I'll be sure to bring your orders when it is finished."
"Thanks Graciela you're an angel."
"I get that a lot." She winked and watched the sleep-deprived designer wobble her way to her usual seat. As she shout out the order another regular customer came to the counter in the same exact sleep-deprived state as Marinette was.
Wow, Deja vu much?
"Hey, Tim. Late night?" Graciela asked with a concerned smile.
"You have no idea." He whined and if it weren't for proper decorum, Graciela would bet her savings that Tim would collapse in front of her cashier right there and then. Graciela's eyes moved to where Marinette was sitting and a brilliant thought occurred in her head. Remember the thing that irked her so much that she thought he had lost her mojo of bringing people together?
Yeah, when Graciela got to know of Marinette, the girl had confided to the barista how sucky her love life had been. It has been Graciela's personal project to find someone for her lovely friend and so far she hadn't found one. However, Tim here would do nicely! How had she not considered him all this time is a big question mark to her! She looked back at the sleep-deprived man and winced to herself.
Okay, she knew why hadn't thought of him. If they were ever to actually date one another, it would become a disaster. Two caffeine-ridden zombies do not sound like a good couple match, but she digresses. Perhaps, it could work.
The shop was indeed filled with people and Marinette's table has one empty seat. Coincidence? SHE. THINKS. NOT!
Is she going to pull her famous cupid hands to nudge her favorite sleep-deprived people to meet? Yes. Yes, she will. Will she regret ever introducing them to each other? Probably. Will one of Tim's brothers blame her for actually finding Tim a perfect soulmate? Most Definitely.
Does she care? NOPE.
"There's an open seat right over there, but you gotta ask the lady if she's willing to share. I got a feeling you'll meet a fellow brethren there." Graciela offered while pointing at Marinette's table.
Tim narrowed his eyes, but didn't complain and nodded, "Thanks, Grace. Can you-"
"I'll send your orders to your table. Don't sweat it. Go on, before you pass out standing again."
Tim muttered something before wobbling his way to the seat that she had mentioned. Graciela watched with knowing eyes as Tim said something to Mari and she replied with a gesture, her eyes never leaving her sketchbook. Tim finally took a seat and takes out his laptop.
Graciela giggled, she gave them about a month or two before the two decided to date. She's looking forward to seeing them falling in love with one another. After all, her coffee shop is famous for getting fated lovers together! HER MOJO IS BACK, BABY!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Here we are, two extra strong Golden Ambrosia, a Pain Au Chocolat for Marinette and Madeline for Tim! Enjoy, you two!" Graciela happily announced as she served them their orders. The two shared a look at their preferred beverage and shared a smile. Graciela watched them with a well-hidden squeal, 'It's happening!!!!' She thought excitedly. "I'll let you two be. Got to run a shop after all!"
Marinette finally noticed her seatmate across her and shyly reached over for her drink. The guy looked as frazzled and zombie-like as she was and she could definitely empathize with him. "Rough, night?" She asked with a quirked brow.
The guy snorted as he took a sip of his drink as well, relishing the energizing nectar going through his body. "You have no idea." He muttered tiredly. "I've been on a strict caffeine diet with no sleep for 3 days straight and my work is nowhere done."
"Mood." She nodded in agreement. "I've been on my caffeine diet with no sleep for 5 days straight and my commission is nowhere done as well. I feel like my blood has been slowly transitioning into coffee and the only thing that could refuel me is this sweet nectar."
The guy looked at Marinette tearfully and was dabbing his eyes with a tissue. "I've found my brethren." He sniffled dramatically and reached forward with a fist bump.
"Brethren." She sniffled back and gives him a fist bump. They look at each other in silence before bursting out in giggles and snorts. "My name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
"Timothy Drake." He nodded. With that, they stare at each other before going back to their respective activity. Every once in a while, one of them would look up and start a conversation, they'd share stories about their respective job and work, then they would continue their work in silence again.
It was easy and peaceful, at one point they finished what they were working on for today and struck up another conversation. Marinette shared about her life in Gotham and the differences between Paris and Gotham. Tim would then share about his siblings and the things that he would do in his daily life. They then began to argue about theories and unsolved cases, a side hobby that the two happened to like.
Through all this Graciela had watched both of them with a secretive smile. Happy to see Marinette acting so carefree with a stranger and glad that Tim could talk without feeling uncomfortable with a new face. Everything is going very smoothly and the barista pats herself on the back for giving them a little nudge to sit together.
'Good job, me. I can hear the wedding bells already.' She smiled stupidly at herself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was nearing closing hours and when Graciela look at her new favorite pet project they were huddled together in front of Tim's laptop. They were sharing Tim's earphones and every once in a while the two would discuss with one another, sometimes they agree sometimes they'd disagree, and then they would go back to watching at Tim's laptop. Graciela decided that she would finish cleaning up her shop before she has to sadly interrupts them.
After making sure that everything is spotless, Graciella moved to her seat and clears her throat softly. "I'm sorry, my two favorite zombies. But I'm closing for today." She said with a sympathetic smile.
Marinette gasped in surprise, "Merde! I didn't realize that I'd been here that long! I am so sorry Graciela! Time flows so fast here!"
Tim was equally surprised but for another reason. He had spent his day talking to this woman that she had met and he had never felt this much fun talking with another person! It is just like they say, time flies when you're having fun. "I'm sorry too, Graciela. I swear that I thought I was only here for a couple hours, not the whole day!" He stated while looking at his phone to check the time, sure enough, it was past dinner time already and he had missed a few calls from Alfred and his siblings. "I'm sorry but I have to go! I've overstayed my welcome already."
"Oh nonsense, Tim! You know you can come here and stay here as long as you want! It's just, today I do have some plans for myself." Graciela waved off his concern.
"Oh, thank you, Graciela. Again, you are an Angel!" Marinette complimented her as she packs up her stuff. Tim was ready to go before he looked back at Marinette with a calculative look. Graciela watches with a knowing look as he took a napkin and scribbled down what Graciela hopes is his number.
"Hey, uh... Marinette? I had a lot of fun talking to you, would you mind if we meet again sometime for coffee like this? If you don't here's my number." He offered the napkin to her. " I-I mean if you don't want to that's fine as well!"He retracted as he scratch his cheek nervously.
The designer stared at the napkin dumbly for a while and started blushing as she shyly reached for the napkin. "I'd love to. U-um...I'll text you sometime tonight?" She asked meekly.
Tim gave her a huge smile, glad that she reached over for the napkin. "I'll be waiting." He answered, he left some money on the table not bothering to wait for any change, and left the shop with a huge grin on his face.
Graciela huffed at him but looked at Marinette with a knowing grin. "Make sure you text him, Mari." She wiggled her eyebrows with a smug smile. Marinette made a squeaky sound as her face became so red that Graciella almost thought that she could combust soon.
The designer grumbled incoherently under her breath, left some money on the table, kissed Graciela's cheek, and left the shop after shouting out her thanks. The shop owner then noticed that both of them had left ridiculous amounts of money on her table before huffing to herself.
"Rich people."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time flows as Graciela watches the two spend more time together. Her coffee shop began their constant place to meet for their 'not-a-date' date, Graciela would watch them sometimes have coffee and work together or actually hang out together without working.
She would listen to Marinette gushing out about Tim's intelligence and how solving cold cases has been so much fun and one of their activities in their 'not-a-date' date, she listens as her friend would swoon about the times Tim would give his amazing smiles and his cute snorts when they have their banter together, she smiles as her friend would go soft as she talks about the time they spent together in her shop.
Just like the shop owner had predicted, they eventually dated after two months of pining for one another. Luckily, she had been there to witness the hilarious moment.
It was after the shop closing hours and Graciela had joined the duo, silently watching them in their famous theory discussion. Marinette was animatedly explaining her thoughts while Tim was watching her fondly. At one point, Graciela had skillfully and secretly taken out her phone to record the moment.
"And that's why I think that the father is a very obvious suspect in the murder! Don't you think so, Tim?" She looked up to find Tim with a ridiculous fond smile. Now, they were both staring at each other, lost in a romantic silence. Graciela wanted to squeal but she knew she had to keep quiet because she felt like something good is about to happen.
She was right.
"I'm in love with you." Tim breathed out dreamily. Marinette's eyes widened and she flushed furiously.
"W-whaaa-"
When Tim finally noticed what he had said he blushed furiously too. "Crap- Uh...That's not how I want you to hear my confession. I-i swear I had everything planned out! I was going to take you for a dinner and I have this gift ready for you and- shit...I messed up." He rambled nervously. Marinette watched him fumble through his words and her smile became equally as soft as Tim's had been.
"I'm in love with you too." She answered and gently placed her hand on his to calm Tim down from his tirade. The man in question looks at her in shock before grinning widely.
"You do?" Marinette nodded and smiled shyly at him. Tim relaxed his tense shoulder and smiled warmly in return.
"FINALLY!" Their moment was interrupted by an elated giggle. They finally remembered that Graciela had been there the whole time and had been recording the confession as well. "I'm going to play this during your wedding ceremony! Make sure to invite me, okay??? Oh, I'm so happy for you two!!! My favorite Caffeine Zombies ship is sailing!!!!" She giggled excitedly and laughed at their blushing faces.
It was a very happy moment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After that momentous day, they began to date. A year later, Marinette came to her with a piece of very exciting news! The night before had been their 1 year anniversary and Tim had proposed! Graciela squealed excitedly and hugged her best friend.
"I'm so so soooo happy for you Marinette!" She cried as she hugged her friend tightly.
"Thank you, Grace. If it hadn't been for your coffee shop. We wouldn't have met each other." Marinette whispered thankfully as she returned the hug equally tight. "Here's your invite, by the way. I'm also asking you to be my maid of honor, would you like that?" She asked unsurely.
"BITCH, I'd love to! I'm going to have to make a speech right? Cuz, honey do I have a speech for you! This is going to be so much fun! I'm so excited!" Graciela jumps around her best friend in excitement. "My best friend is going to get married! AHHH" She squealed loudly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Maid of Honor's speech!" Dick Grayson happily introduces the exciting barista. She walked to her stage and winked at the happily married couple.
"What a great and joyous day today. My name is Graciela Kirovan and I am the owner of the famously known Cupid Cafe in Gotham City. And I have to say these two have been my magnum opus in my work as the cupid barista. Now, I assure you I have no magic and I am no meta, but somehow my cafe has been a hotspot for fated couples to meet and Marinette and Tim is one of the cutest, dorkiest, sweetest couple ever." Marinette laughed as she cuddled up to his new husband. Graciela smiled warmly at them before continuing her speech.
"I became Marinette's friend when she first arrived in Gotham, and I was adamant to find her the perfect someone once I heard about her disastrous love adventure. Tim was one of my regulars, a very eccentric one because at one point he had managed to pass out standing in front of my cashier and I was this close to calling the ambulance." The audience laughed at her exasperated tone. Marinette had laughed as well and Tim tried to hide on his wife's shoulder.
"I remembered the day when I gave them a nudge to sit together, I had my doubts at first. I mean, two sleep-deprived zombies that have the same concerningly caffeine addiction as a couple? I don't know if the world is ready yet for the chaos that I'm sure they would bring. But then I watched them together that day, I saw them happily talking to each other, and I know my cupid arrow has struck once again." Marinette looked at Tim and lovingly kissed his cheek. Tim then returned the kiss with the same amount of love. It was so cute.
"I watch them pine one another and it was miserable," Graciela whined dramatically and winked at the couple.
" But I was happy. I listened to how Marinette would gush about their theory discussion, she would sigh dreamily as she told me how cute Tim's giggle was, and I know that it was a matter of time before the two would date." Marinette's had turned so red and Graciela could see the teasing grin that Tim was sent to her. Graciela smirked at what was about to transpire.
"And you know, ladies and gentlemen, I was there when Tim had confessed! If you look at the screen right there, Dick would play the recording that I took during that monumental moment!" With that, she finger-gunned Dick, and the video capturing the confession began to play.
The audience laughed at how Tim had confessed, Jason was wolf-whistling at the video and Dick was laughing his ass off. Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle were both watching the video with warm expressions, and so was Alfred. Damian had a little smirk and he knew that he has new blackmail material for his brother. Cass and Duke were watching with soft smiles, while Stephanie and Barbara were sending teasing grins to Tim.
Graciela chuckled before clearing her throat and the audience focused back on her, "It was amazing, watching their love grow. I'm so happy for both of them. I know that Marinette deserves this more than anyone else, because finally, finally, someone takes notice of how amazing she is. Finally, she founds happiness. Finally, she has someone to lean on. Finally, they are together. To Marinette and Tim, I hope your love is everlasting, and I hope that every day of your new life is filled with adventure and love. I hope that you are blessed with a long marriage and I hope that you still come to my cafe and order the Golden Ambrosia, because I know that no one else would order them but you two." Graciela finished as she raises her wine for the toast.
Marinette looked at her with a warm smile and mouthed 'thank you' to her. Graciela went over to her table and they both hugged. Graciela whispered her congratulations before taking her seat. She watches both of them share a sweet and loving kiss, professing their love to one another. She smiled to herself, her heart warm at the picture-perfect couple.
'Finally.'
 This couldn't be it, this couldn't be the end. Not here, not now, not for her.
 Tim was helpless to do anything but watch from beyond the sickly green wrought iron cage—poisoned spikes on both the inside and outside of the bars to prevent any attempts at escape.
 Not that it stopped him, mind you. But all that brought him was mocking laughter, a cursed amulet preventing him from shifting back to his human form, clipped wings, horns cut, snout muzzled, sapphire scales torn and patchy—making it hurt to move, talons declawed—phalanges removed so they wouldn't ever grow back, and a cocktail of drugs fogging his mind and torpefying his body, all to keep him from being able to break out on his own.
 Marinette was his precious loving soulmate, she's a part of his hoard as much as he is of hers. Their hearts beat in sync. He could feel the distant frenetic desperate pulse of her heart tethered to him, completely in time to his equally pounding heart despite the distance between them. He could also feel the stinging scratches and scrapes on her hands and knees on his own, the deep ache in her muscles and bones in his, the flaring stabs across her torso and shoulders with every movement she makes in his as well, just as if those were his injuries instead of hers alone.
 She could probably feel the numb agony of the undoubtedly permanent damage done to him in this cage. How she was still able to keep going, keep fighting, with the pain slowly killing him—them—, was beyond him.
 That was how their soulbond worked, an eye for an eye, a heart for a heart, a soul for a soul, pain for pain. Bearing what the other is taking, sharing the burden of their suffering.
 A blessing and a curse, always being able to tell whether your soulmate was hiding injuries or overworking themselves to the detriment of their body. It was… it was probably a relief for her, in the time after his capture—to know the Joker's been keeping him alive.
 Marinette's heartbeat stuttered as the fight drew away from the cage and out of his sight. Heart in his throat, Tim barely holds back a desperate keel. He can't afford to distract her now—
 Electricity, surging through his body. Lancing pain whiting his vision out.
 He could barely hear her screams through the crackling around him. No, no, no, no—please.
 Maniacal laughter rang out clearly above the thundering of their shared heartbeat and the sizzling searing of electrical burns tearing through their bodies.
 And oh, oh…
  Oh no.
 If he thought the electricity was bad enough, then the five pinpricks of pain in the centre of his chest shouldn't have been noticeable.
 But it was. And brutally so. His chest. Ruptured open. Tearing and shredding apart like something was being ripped out. Or well, not his chest. But Marinette's.
 Throat constricting, he could barely breathe. The pain was so consuming. He couldn't tell if the struggle he had breathing was his or hers, or both of theirs.
 His, apparently.
 Seeing as Tim could feel it.
 The very moment his soulmate's—Marinette's—heart ceased to beat.
 That gaping agony rupturing and rending through his chest and sternum—right through to where their hearts lay in each of their chests—was painting a clear enough guess of what was happening—had happened. To her.
 “No!” He barely rasped under the restraining muzzle. Please survive! He wanted to beg her, please hold on just a little bit longer! The others must be near soon…
 The tether snapped. The bond shattered.
 “Plea—” Tears leaked from his eyes, stinging the small sore scaleless patches of skin as they dripped down his cheeks.
 The pain of her injuries faded as her heartbeat's absence grew longer.
 The Joker skipped back into view from within the wretched cage, a blue crystalline heart of a dragon, bleeding and unbeating in his hands. “Would you look at this! A pure of heart sapphire!”
 Bursting into cackles at his own words, the Joker barrelled over, grin sickeningly wide.
 The breath caught in Tim's throat.
 It… it should have killed him too. He should be dead.
 “NOOO!” He rasped again, throat bleeding from the strain. Clutching at his chest, overcome, he desperately wailed for his other half. Don't leave me! He wanted to cry out to all that remained of her, please, how am I supposed to live without you?
 His wail was cut off sharply with a wet cough. Choking on the blood from his throat as the muzzle kept him from taking any deeper breaths.
An emptiness—hollowness, settled inside his heart. As the lonesome silence, barring the incessant laughter, persisted.
 What else? He thought to himself deadeningly—despondently, what else am I supposed to do? Without you here?
 The Joker straightened up and sneered at Tim. “Awww, aren't you having fun?”
 “No,” Tim whispered under his breath, closing his eyes and using what little strength he had left to curl up into a ball, covering himself with his clipped wings. “I just want to go home to my wife, my soulmate…”
 “Well let's fix that then! They do say laughter is the best medicine!” The Joker crowed, dropping the heart on the ground before moving out of sight once again. Followed by a chuff and a hiss of liquid gas spraying from a machine.
 Tim flinched. Expecting the worst.
  The machine exploded. The cage rocked crashing over—freeing him.
 The sounds of gunfire and batarangs reached his ears but Tim only had eyes for Marinette. Disconsolate, he slowly crawled to her and her heart with everything he had left. Fragilely, he scooped her sapphire heart up in his claws and cradled it against his chest fruitlessly, as if the proximity to his own heart would somehow breathe life back into hers. Once he reached her body, he bowed his head and let the tears spill from his eyes.
 This couldn't be it, this couldn't be the end. Not here, not now, not for her. But it was. And there was nothing he could do to change it.
OH WOW WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!! The second chapter of my fic? One that I wrote?? Not abandoning a project after only one chapter? Preposterous.
Work Summary:
Both Tim Drake and Marinette Dupain-Cheng are incredibly successful and busy people. Two people who both view coffee as their lifeblood. When they find themselves needing each other to obtain ultimate coffee rights at their favorite cafe, two total strangers become allies. And friends. And perhaps eventually... something more.
Chapter Summary:
Marinette finds that her normal day goes 0 to 100 (more of a 70, really) very fast. She certainly didn’t expect this to be the outcome of visiting her new favorite cafe...
Is there anything special about the discord server? Is it only open for people who like Timari or can newcomers also join?
Hello newcomer!
Thank you for your questions!
What’s special about our server?
This is a ship specific discord server within the Maribat community; there’s not many of them, just more general ones. Here you’ll find people who not only share the same fandom as you, but also are looking to create/read things that are more centered around a certain area of interest. This makes it easier to connect with individuals and receive aid and feedback as well as create a lively environment of common interests.
It’s also very organized and has a place for everything. The moderation is sound and members have a say in almost everything with a clear goal of a safe and healthy environment.
We strive to bring encouragement and support to members of the maribat community, Timari and otherwise, and within the server have an earnable role system to create a sense of friendly competition.
We have events open to members with a clearly defined set of criteria for what’s needed to host their own events within the server; they have the option to simply suggest them for staff to run or may host them personally and given full access to their own channel within the events category to do so with full freedom to do as they’d like as long as it stays within the rules.
Members who request so are given their own channels to do what they’d like in from plotting to writing haikus to artworks to linking their works. As long as it complies with the rules it’s allowed.
And lastly, our members. Seems cliche but a server really isn’t a server without its members. We’re currently only a small server, may always be that way, but we’re a small community of brilliant creators and readers who help to bring the server up and create things for all to enjoy for free. People who will bring you up and encourage you to keep writing, keep drawing, keep reading. We welcome everyone, and we work to keep it a positive and safe environment so it can stay that way.
Comments from members:
“The environment, it's welcoming and friendly and open. Most of the larger servers I'm in are either a closed off group or too big to find people in. It's truly a good place for people who create”
“Despite being a smaller, newer server, it is still active but not so overwhelmingly active like a bigger server. We are also quite passionate about the ship and encourage one another to create”
“The server is special because it not only gives us (writers and artists and Timari creators) another community platform but it allows us to work together and in a way, network”
Is it open to anyone or just Timari fans?
As it is a Timari server, the goal is to collect all the Timari fans. But this does not mean that other ship lovers are not welcome to join.
We welcome lovers of any of the maribat ships from damianette to konette to the lovely rare pairs. We encourage you to have some interest in Timari if you plan on joining or are looking to read/create/view more Timari content. But we do have areas where you can post about other ships within the fandom that is accessible to all members.
Still interested?
Terror Twins
Meet Cute Monday 39
Masterlist
MCM Masterlist
..................................
Kon trailed behind Lex confused. Mercy hadn’t made the situation any clearer when he had asked earlier and now Lex was exuding the same vibes he did when he was entering business meetings. He really didn’t know what to make of it.
“Dad... in English, can you explain why I’m here again?”
“Because, my son, I would like you to start networking. It is important to know others in the field, both currently in charge as well as their mentee’s who in time will be in control as the time requires it. Having their ear is important for you to succeed if Superman turns or leaves or follow in my own footsteps.”
“And were meeting the bunch of bad guys...?”
“Visionaries sweetheart, contemporary visionaries. We all want to the world to be a better place, we just have... different ideologies and approaches of what that could be than the Justice League. They see the world in such black and white, where it’s full of greys.”
“And I’m here to network.”
“Yes. As its the summer, a lot of those who I’m meeting will be bringing their apprentices with them. You just need to keep on the nicer side of them.”
His dad turned and paused to look at Kon with his sharp eyes. As Lex tilted his head, Kon wish he could get a better read of him and know what he saw, what he really was asking for.
“Just be yourself and don’t ruffle any feathers. If you don’t agree with what they are saying, for today, don’t comment and store it for information to use at a later date sweetheart.”
In response Kon just nodded cautiously like he understood but he was still mystified by it all. Lex smiled softly at him, like he was precious, innocent that needed to be protected from the world and leant in and ruffled his hair.
Kon let out a squark pushing his dad’s hands away growling at the man for mucking up his perfectly styled hair. He could see his dad smirking as he turned back and gesturing to follow him down the corridor. Kon huffed and rolled his eyes. He knew that Lex had done that on purpose to make him relax, and frustratingly as it meant he’d keep doing it, it had worked.
.....
Standing near Mercy in a large dome like room, Kon watched as Slade glared with contempt at his dad. His dad just rolled his eyes at the mercenary’s dramatic behaviour and straightened out his suit brushing imaginary dust from the sleeves.
“Is there a problem Wilson.”
“It’s the school holidays.”
“And?”
“I’ve had to bring Janie’s brat with me. This will give him more dangerous idea’s than he already has. He doesn’t need this kinda influence.”
Kon watched with wide eyes as Lex suppressed a shuddered. His dad never looked uncomfortable, and now it was unsettling as the scarred man seemed to cause that affect. He took a slight step closer to Mercy, who rested her hand on his shoulder, for comfort.
“You’re looking after Janets child?”
“Janie has decided to stop CPS getting involved due to a ‘concerned teacher’ that *I* need to play doting uncle to the menace during the holidays.”
Lex looked tense as Kon observed from the distance. His dad looked around the room before stopping at a pair of two dark haired children chattering animatedly with weapons in hand and blanched.
“Shiva’s brought her niece too Luthor. There’s a reason we all agreed not to have these meetings in holiday’s unless there is an emergency. So,” the mercenary growled, “what’s the emergency.”
“I hadn’t realised that the terror twins would be here...”
“Figured.”
“I have information that presently doesn’t result in an emergency, but unfortunately unless addressed could cause us all issues in the future. Mercy, please take Kon and supervise the youngsters while I discuss matters with my business partners.”
Mercy nodded and started to lead Kon away from his dad towards, who he suspected were the ‘terror twins’. Glancing back at his dad, Lex just nodded to him in what he guessed was meant to be a reassuring gesture but looked more like a wince with how Slade’s rough voice danger as he spoke at the same time.
“This better be worth it Luthor.”
.....
The terror twins were not what Kon expected them to be. They weren’t in fact twins at all despite their similar appearance according to Mercy. The boy appeared to be almost painfully shy, hiding behind the girl who appeared to be rainbow and sunshine as Kon approached. He was whispering in her ear glancing repeatedly at Kon with enormous steel blue eyes compared to the warm bluebell ones of the girl.
In heavily accented English the girl beamed at Kon, putting her hand out to shake his hand.
“Hi, I’m Marinette. This is Tim. Why do you look like Superman??”
Kon blinked at her, his eyes darting between the two and up at Mercy hoping that he’s father's assistant would be of help as he reached out to receive an enthusiastic handshake. Unfortunately, Mercy just smiled with amusement at him and left him to fend for himself against these ‘friendly wolves’ as she made her way towards where the refreshments were.
“Err...”
“Mars! You can’t just ask him that!”
Tim seemed horrified by his blunt friend, nervously twitching as if he would be getting into trouble.
“Why? You said he did, and it didn’t make sense cos superman doesn’t have a child his age.”
Kon winced, knowing his other biological doner wasn’t completely aware of him and had his own child, much to his dad’s disgust. It hurt that the girl, Marinette was so forward with her reasoning.
“Because Mars, its rude! People don’t like being interrogated.”
“Pfft! You stalk people, interrogations just the next step Timmy.”
“Not really, Uncle Slade says you can use that info to blackmail is the next step... or to eliminate them.”
“Well, Auntie Sandra says the best thing is to just eliminate if they don’t give you the information you need.”
“Err...”
Two sets of almost glowing blue eyes rounded on Kon, their attention now shifted to him. A slow blush started to make is way up his cheeks. He wasn’t used to being so intensely looked at. Especially by two cute fellow tweens. Between the pair of them it felt like they were seeing into his soul, there was something about them together that was slightly unsettling with the intensity of their gaze.
Marinette nudged Tim, who now Kon was there and Marinette taking the attention off him was opening up, shoved her back causing them to burst into cackles.
“Sorry, Mars is a handful.” Tim got between giggles. “You do look a lot like Supes though, you know?”
“Umm... yeah, we share some similar DNA I guess...”
“Ooooo! Like family?” Marinette managed to get out, her laughter slowly becoming manageable.
“I guess you could say that.”
“Timmy? Does Supes have other family members? I can’t see much of Mr Luther in him.”
“Mars!”
“Timmy’s a superhero expert. He knows all about them and everything. His ridiculously smart.”
Tim looked down almost shy at how his ‘twin’ was selling his skillset. Kon grinned at the pair, nodding along as they seemed to bicker and ‘bigging up’. They really weren’t what he was expecting from skilled fighters' younger family members.
“Why are you guys here with your uncle and aunt?”
The pair looked at each other and seemed to converse with just facial expressions alone. Kon felt out the loop and unsure before Marinette spoke up blandly.
“Parents.”
Kon just blinked at Marinette, her monotonous tone and robotic response was apparently meant to explain everything. He looked to Tim for more information as Kon was just confused by the answer.
“They run businesses. School keeps us out their hair during term time. In the summer... they’re busy people with important roles. Apparently leaving kids unsupervised isn’t allowed so *family time*.”
Tim waved jazz hands at *family time* as Kon looked surprised and tried to seek Mercy or his dad to work out what the pair were implying. He knew his dad was a busy man running multiple things, but he (or Mercy) always made time for him. Why didn’t theirs?
“That doesn’t sound... fun.”
“Tim’s parents' suck!”
“Hey! Yours aren’t much better.”
“Least I live with them most of the year and they do spend time with me when not working.”
Sensing an impending argument about to break out with the heat in the twins' eyes and that it was potentially a regular disagreement, Kon tried to distract them. He was here to network and so far, he’d only met these two, who seemed not the future visionaries his dad had warned him against.
“Are we the only ones our age here?”
The dazzling smile that Marinette sent Kon, felt like it warmed his soul. Tim slipped a hesitant hand into his, causing Kon’s stomach to flutter.
“Nah, the rest are in the den. Mars and I were being nosy as to who was coming. We’ll take you there.”
“Tim’s cousins are there too. They look scary but aren’t really.”
“Too you, maybe.”
The pair nattered playfully, telling Kon all the ins and outs, what to look out for, who to avoid, of the next generation of ‘visionaries’ as they lead him to the den. During the journey to the den, they somehow invited him in on a dare/prank they were planning on later. Listening to their plan helped Kon understand why they got their terror twin name causing him to smile as he enthusiastically agreed to help.
......
Kon looked sheepishly up at his dad who’d just re-entered the main cabin of the plane with a towel around his next and in a fresh suit. He hadn’t expected the pranks to cause so much mess and for his dad to be one of the many victims.
“I’m sorry, Dad. I didn’t realise that it would be so... so...”
He couldn’t find the word to describe the carnage that Tim and Marinette had manage to produce with so little.
“It’s ok sweetheart. You met the terror twins. It’s reminded me why we rarely meet in the holidays.”
“Are they always like that?”
“That pair... yes... Wilson and Shiva teamed up once to work around having to babysit their sibling's demonic offspring. They’ve sworn never to do it again.”
“They look cute working together.”
They really had looked cute. They bounced ideas off each other, giving passionate speeches about the plans, and the back up plans, and the alternatives to that one, and contingency plans. Watching them seemed to give the other young adults headaches but Kon found it amazing how in tune two non-family members could be. They seemed more in sync than some of the best hero teams he’d seen from a distance. The way their eyes shimmered. Their checks flushed with excitement. The way Marinette stuck her tongue out when she concentrated, the way Tim seemed to pace as he thought. Kon loved being part of it.
“They’re menaces! Any time those two get wind of what we are planning, even a minute whisper, all luck turns against us.”
“Really? But, they’re my age. They’re civilians.”
“Those two are not civilians Kon. Mark my words. The universe holds some strange regard for them. They will NEVER just be civilian's sweetheart.”
“So, is it a good thing that they’ve decided that they want me as a friend?”
His dad stopped and slowly put his drink down and looked at Kon. Really looked at Kon like he was trying to read his soul, but after meeting Marinette and Tim, it kind of fell flat for some reason. His dad sighed and just looked tired as he leant back into his chair as he gazed at Kon.
Kon gulped but sat up straighter, waiting for his dad’s judgement.
“Do you want to be their friend?”
Kon paused and thought about it. He definitely wanted to be in the action with them earlier. Their energy was contagious. Being a friend was something more though, not just joining in. It meant being there for them, like they were for each other. Kon thought of his relationships he had at school, around CADMUS, around Lex Corp. They all felt superficial in comparison to what they had. He wanted that too. To be a part of... something.
“I- yeah, I do dad.”
Lex paled but nodded. A gentle fond smile graced his dad face as he sighed and started to tap away on his phone.
“I’ll talk to their current guardians to see if they are willing to let you meet up with them. Separately. I refuse to embrace the chaos they’ll bring together yet. They may not be the next Deathstroke or Lady Shiva, but I do approve of your building connections, sweetheart. They could nicely be a bridge into a new grey area for the moment.”
Kon relaxed into his seat and slowly closed his eyes embracing the exhaustion that flooded his body that he hadn’t realised he had from the anxiety the day had brought.
He listened to the rumble of the engines as Mercy flew them back to Metropolis. His dad was sorting things out and dealing with work. Kon bathed in the comforting knowledge that he will get to meet the terror twins again as he fell into a sleep.
Enemies to Allies to Lovers
Villain x Villain Timinette imagine how fun that would be
"You don't trust me?" He asks Marinette, who was warily looking at her own glass of wine. She looked at him and felt a shiver run down her back. "I don't have a reason to yet."
Tim rolled his eyes at her. "While your paranoia is what rightfully kept you alive, it'll be the death of you. Know who you can trust." Marinette's brow arched at that. "I know who I can trust, and I can assure you that you're not in that miniscule list."
Tim moved forward to delicately pluck her glass from her hand but she kept a steady hold on it. He raised a brow at her. "What are you doing?"
"What are you doing?"
"Proving that you can trust me, obviously." She pulled back the glass, stood up and walked over to the side. Tim watched her with a curious gaze. "Now what are you doing?"
"Proving that I can trust you, obviously." She lifts Tim's chin up and pushes his head onto the back of the couch.
"What, are you going to kiss me?" He asks, a smirk on his face.
"Do you think I'm that daft to offer you a kiss? No." She steadies the glass above Tim, tilting it to readily pour wine.
"Open your mouth, you're going to finish my glass ‘til the last drop."
...
Why is it that Tim often finds himself at the bottom of her shoes? Literally, in this case. Tim sits still on the couch underneath the weight of her high heeled shoes, a glass of champagne in his hand delicately carried by the stem of the tulip glass. Her piercing stare seemed to burn his soul while her shoes stain his black button up shirt. “...is there anything I can help you with, my dear?”
“Fix my shoes for me.”
It should irritate him, being told what to do once again, but with her all he wants to do tease her and do it anyway. “Am I your servant? Should I call you master, Marinette?”
She shrugs, pushing her right foot harder. Tim cringes internally at the stain his cleaner would complain about. “If you want to, I won’t complain. I just want you do fix my shoes.”
“And tell me,” Tim says, pausing to sip at his champagne. “Why should I do that? Especially when you didn’t even say please. Has your mother never taught you manners?”
“Of course she did, it’s just that you’re not worthy of them.” She lifts her foot higher right over his neck and Tim’s breath hitches. “I don’t think a lady should lift their leg so high, especially when she’s wearing a dress.” Her dress leaves only a scrap for the imagination, skin tight and red as bright as his old costume, sleeve-less heart shaped-dip dress that flows down to a skirt that sways with the heavy weight of literal colored metal. She was dressed like a flame on top of burnt wood, ready to rise up and burn whatever else she wants to.
“And I don’t think we’d be in this position if you’ve followed my command.” Tim tuts at her and hands her his glass, shaking his head as he ties the black high heeled lace shoe properly. “Do I have to kneel down on my own floor or would you prefer to step on me again?”
She smiles like a nightmare in the night before it scares you, shakes you and wakes you up terrified. “Good boy for asking.” She puts her foot down and steps on him again, this time with her left foot. “I’ll have you kneeling some other day instead.”
Coffee Confusion
for @the-alice-of-hearts
Marinette fiddled with her hands nervously as she headed up the barista taking her order. "Hi, l have the strongest coffee you can give me please?"
The barista nodded politely and asked, "Okay, that'll be a Double Extra Shot Cappuccino. Can I have a name for the order please?"
"Sure, I'm Marinette," she told them cheerily, quickly paying for her order and getting out of the way.
As she stood at the other side of the room, waiting for her order time seemed to slow down; each second lasting a minute. She was on way too tight a schedule to have time for a wait this long. Maybe risking getting the drink was a mistake, but she'd been up way too late to work on her pitch for this meeting to be able to stay awake without it.
Today was super important - she had a meeting with Tim Drake, the CEO of Wayne Industries, to discuss a partnership with them and her company, MDC. She couldn't afford to miss it, let alone fall asleep during it. That would give completely the wrong impression.
An order announcement brought her out of her thoughts. "I've got a Double Extra Shot Cappuccino."
She moved forward to collect her drink, her hand brushing against it right before it was taken from her grasps by a man who looked around her age.
"Hey," she exclaimed. "That's mine."
He shook his head, "I don't think so. I ordered a Double Extra Shot Cappuccino and I got here and ordered before you, therefore it must be mine."
"You don't look like you need a coffee that strong," she muttered.
"And neither do you but here we are."
"Why don't we ask them who it was for, they do take names for a reason," she offered.
When they did ask, Marinette soon found out that it had been for someone named Tim. "Oops, sorry," she said apologetically. "I'd really been hoping it was mine since I've got a meeting soon that I need to stay awake for."
Tim smirked, "Me too actually. Who's your's with?"
She grinned, "You'd never believe me."
"Try me."
"Wayne Industries. How about you?"
"I think actually my meeting may be with you. You're MDC, I presume?"
"Yes actually, how'd you know?"
He held out a hand for her to shake, "Tim Drake, nice to meet you."
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng," she returned with a smile.
