Let Me Be Your Wings (Yandere Prince Cornelius X Reader)

Cornelius had taken his bumblebee out for a ride when he heard a voice, one that demanded his attention with its beauty.

Let me be your only love

The singing had led him to a small farm house then to an open window near the back of the house facing a garden. He swore the world around him stopped when he finally laid eyes on the singer. He watched as they swayed gently to their own song while preparing for bed.

Let me take you far beyond the stars

He visited that same window every night to watch and listen to them. The more he visited them in the night the more he wanted to just take them away to be wed but he knew there were steps to those things so he waited for the right time to show himself.

Let me be your wings

Let me lift you high above

It truly was a night to remember showing through his eyes the world he sees. High in the sky above anything that could stop them.

Everything we're dreaming of will soon be ours.

Anything that you desire,

Anything at all.

After that night he began to bring them many gifts. Jewels, clothes, anything they could ever want.

Every day I'll take you higher

And I'll never let you fall.

He knows in his heart that once spring arrives, they will be married when the first bloom opens. And how a grand wedding it will be but first he needs to propose even if he already knows the answer will be yes, for what other answer could there be?

Summary: During a journey in the nightfall, Cornelius encourages Thumbelina to inquire about their world and ride his pet bumblebee.

"What is that, Cornelius?"

"That?" Prince Cornelius thumps a opened palm against a dense, dark nut scattered in the forest. "That is an acorn."

Thumbelina's giggle echoes around them.

"I know what an acorn is!" Thumbelina insists. "I meant…"

Prince Cornelius's mouth falls open.

"Oh! Oh, that is a pine needle! From a pine tree!"

Prince Cornelius carefully hands it to her.

"Ah! It is like your sword!" Thumbelina brandishes it like Prince Cornelius would his silver rapier, bursting out giggling again.

He laughs along with her, gently lowering Thumbelina's hand.

(Both Prince Cornelius's sword and the pine needle are, unfortunately, quite of a piercing quality.)

Thumbelina cheerfully and enthusiastically twitters on about her life at the farmhouse… the old windmill by the river, and the animal-friends Thumbelina has, and her own gigantic human mother…

One of Prince Cornelius's hands holds onto Thumbelina's waist, and the other grasps her fingers. Prince Cornelius hums a tune similar to a royal wedding processional under his breath, dancing with her.

"I wonder if little people bath as fairies do," Thumbelina says aloud. "Mother told me to not wish to be anything but who I am… but perhaps I will wish to be a fairy! Do fairies bath in teacups? Mother heats her pot with hot water and lye and I get clean — oh my!"

She startles a little as Buzzbee drones for attention, knocking his head against Thumbelina's leg. Prince Cornelius smiles harder.

"That's a great idea, Buzzbee!" he declares.

Thumbelina sits herself, and Prince Cornelius demonstrates.

"I do not understand. What is it, Cornelius?"

"It's his antennas," Prince Cornelius says, allowing her to take them and Buzzbee flutters his wings for a moment. "Now you hang on."

Thumbelina's pretty, pink lips quirk down. "How do I use 'it'…?"

"You steer," he explains. "Let's try with you riding him for us."

Prince Cornelius beams, sitting right up against Thumbelina's back, clutching onto her. She hesitates before Buzzbee takes off, droning much louder, swooping through the air effortlessly with both of his companions on. Thumbelina's shriek of surprise fades into giggles.

All three of them rise higher and higher.

Bits of gold-glimmering pollen, from the hairs on Buzzbee, fly into Thumbelina's long curls. "It's impossible!" she cries out, overjoyed.

("You are sure to do IM-POSS-IBLE things!" Jacquimo sing-songs, flying overhead to admire them. "If you follow your HEAAAART!")

What is your oldest ship?

Either Snow White/Prince Florian or Prince Cornelius/Thumbelina... or... Curdie/Princess Irene!

I was a real animated fairy tale enthusiast as a child. These three films and the characters' true loves meant a whole lot to me.

2) What is your newest ship?

That is a great question. I find new fanart every day. But I guess you can say some ships from Spy x Family? I've never watched the show or read the manga, but I'm familiar with the characters! So maybe... Damianya! It's really innocent and adorable. :D

3) OTP?

I think I'll have a different answer any time anyone asks me this! lol.

Right now, it's either Mareach or ALBW!Zelink. :D

Another tiny Canon Descendants adjacent project while Part 2 of BATB is still underway. Made up/redesigned some daughters for some of my fav Non-Disney princesses.

Nicole is the daughter of Anya and Dimitri from Anastasia, named for her maternal grandfather

Maya is the daughter of Thumbelina and Cornelius, from Thumbelina, and is named after the name Thumbelina is given at the end of the original fairytale

And finally Alise comes from those incredibly sup-par sequels to The Swan Princess, who I’m only including because I liked the idea of Odette and Derek adopting a child, but that’s literally all I would keep of her og backstory, I’m on the fence about the 2D sequels as is, and the 3D ones don’t exist for me.

(Honestly I’d like to do some more world building for both Thumbelina and Swan Princess, based on my own ideas. Maybe one day)

MIdoriya: O-Oh. Um, sure! If you’re offering. Thank you! Sorry I hid. Mom always says not to talk to strangers. You seem nice though!

Todoroki: Uh-huh. Just give me your hand.

Midoriya [narrating]: I gave him my hand and he pulled me up onto the bee with him.

Todoroki: Just to be clear, we’re married now. This is a betrothal bee.

Midoriya: Waaaahhhh!?!?!?!?

Todoroki: Sorry. I usually don’t do the tricky fae language thing, but you’re really cute and I got nervous.

I wanted to practice composition and lighting and I also wanted to draw the bee from Thumbelina, so here you go!!
