i feel like in general i am 100% on board with qpr or friendship-focused relationships between male and female characters, and i do wish there was more of it, and i am even willing to admit that in other circumstances i would really love that fakir x duck falls into that category in canon - fakir loves her but is genuinely happy and willing to "just" be her friend for the rest of their lives, even when she's a duck, because he sees her as a good friend, which is something more m/f couples in anime should fall under. HOWEVER. i am SO UPSET that i got tricked into thinking that they actually WERE canon that now i am physically incapable of anything but headcanoning that the story fakir writes turns her human again and they live happily ever after. INCAPABLE. they are in love to ME.

Did I anticipate making a post after every episode of the Bad Batch I have watched thus far? No. No I did not.

Was that 25-30mins of my life such a quietly understated emotional rollercoaster that I am literally reeling enough to write this post a good 9hrs after I watched it? Yes. Yes it was.

I was impressed that this time they let Crosshair carry an episode on his own. Season 1 had ‘fun death defying adventure of the week’ energy mixed in with ‘harsh realities of colonialist imperial takeover’ and the tonal shift could be a bit jarring. Honestly, I think it was intentionally so. Crosshairs actions need a foil for context really and in season 1 the only established comparison characters were the batch so it made sense. Sometimes though I wished I could just sit with each set of characters for some extra minutes.

But this time-they went for it. And it was stunning. Contrasting Crosshair, who wants to lead, with Cody, who has vast amounts of experience leading a sizeable chunk of the army, was fantastic. Especially with Cody still mostly in white, with his signature self still evident even if it’s faded, to Crosshair, who is now a black blank slate until he takes off his helmet. For goodness sake the marks around their eyes are even on opposite sides. One carved by war, the other painted by choice. They also have an interesting difference in perspective set up right from the get go.

The two conversations in front of the memorial are to me, Cody feeling Crosshair out, and then having made his mind up. Cody, in my mind, has already decided he’s leaving. I think he’s trying to decide if he should ask Crosshair to come with him or not, and that’s why after he knows Crosshair doesn’t need medical care anymore (he was abandoned for a month?!) he quite rightly assumes he might not fancy being an imperial for much longer. At some point in the conversation, Cody is facing the light of the memorial, and Crosshairs face is in shadow. You know-just in case that light and dark symbolism hasn’t caught onto its job yet. I’m in heaven.

And then the action sequences. God but this whole thing was a punch in the gut. Instinctively you’re rooting for the clones against the droids. Because of course we are! We know the drill! And so do the clones-it was admittedly very very wonderful to just be able to enjoy clones being spectacular for 10minutes. It was like a clone wars run down-even the classic the gunship lasted 5mins cliche was well utilised. We’ve seen this scene a thousand times-and it was so old and so very very new. We’ve never really seen a group of regs operate without a Jedi against droids in a sequence this long before which was really evident when driodika show up and you just about have a heart attack instead of thinking ‘eh they’ll be scrap in a minute’. And Crosshair being fantastically impossible was breathtaking-and then you suddenly couldn’t breathe.

The whole time I had to remind myself ‘no this is the Empire now! They can’t succeed. Otherwise what will happen to all these poor people?’ And then the power of the clone army being trusted by the galaxy to protect everyone becomes evident. If I’m used to seeing these images and thinking ‘go clones! Save the galaxy!’ then how many billions of people on hundreds of worlds would do the same seeing it on galactic news with a bit of imperial spin? The whole sequence just leaves you feeling vaguely ill. You’re desperate for the Clones you care about to survive-but if they do? What will happen to so many others?

Cody was always going to be my favourite when he appeared-because I am an older sibling and he just has that energy so he’s always been my favourite. Whoever wrote him in this episode-I take my hat off to them. Because him and Crosshair are almost indistinguishable when they interact with droids (classic clone-scrap them in spectacular fashion). As soon as you throw an organic in the mix-he’s so himself. And you could see the different experiences of Cody, whose lost a lot of brothers and dives after the injured with little thought to his own safety, and Crosshair, who we know has never lost any of his squad in the most permanent sense of the word. Them and the civilians just took me right back to Ryloth-you can almost see Cody waiting for them to be relieved, to look to him for safety, but instead they’re terrified of him and it doesn’t sit well.

And he NEGOTIATED.

Writers I love you. I love that he succeeded. And I love that he refused to go back on his word. And I love that he left before the consequences of that refusal inevitably catch up with him. (He’s his Jedi’s Commander force bless you sunshine you tried Obi-Wan would be so proud of you.)*

We see the TK troopers becoming an occupying force through Cody’s eyes. To him the TK troopers could be replaced with droids and he’s seen that picture a hundred times before. And instead of arriving on a gunship to fix it, he’s walking onto one to be taken away having enabled it. “It Rhymes” and all. He knows this isn’t his place anymore. He knows he has brothers out there who believe the same as he does. A good number will probably follow after him.

But another memorial scene. And he knows Crosshair won’t be one of them-at least not yet.

I really really hope that we get a finally moment with Crosshair though. That he will be ordered to do something, and it will be a line he won’t cross. And then he will need out. Hopefully. Maybe. I’ll keep my toes crossed.

Also please may we see Cody at least once more. Preferably not dead or imprisoned. Just so we know he’s fine? Please?

* (actually coming back to this 5mins later there must be an “Anakin” *cue deep sigh* moment other than the mandalore arc where this scene actually plays out. Obi-Wan refuses to kill but Anakin does because orders vs Obi-Wan’s preference for diplomacy)

so,,, i was rewatching episode 5 as one does to deal with the fact it’s not saturday yet and when i got to the scene where kinn and his father discuss while playing chess the scene in episode 7 in the hospital with kinn and his father talking again suddenly came to mind and it's fascinating to think about how much both scenes parallel each other and have in common in terms of kinn's character development or more specifically the way he’s breaking free from the role he is supposed to play

in episode 5 kinn goes to his father because chan told him he wants to talk to him and kinn enters the scene like a lost kitten with puppy eyes afraid of what his father would want considering he had sex with porsche the night before and neglected his work the day after and he knows that his father is going to scold him and it's something that always sticks to me when i rewatch the episode because i really like kinn's little expressions here (mile is an acting genius wbk)

so he enters the scene with a stance that makes it seem like his head is weighting on his shoulders and he exales when his father very calmly says 'have a seat' so kinn hints a nervous smile and sits while his father looks at him showing a little smile himself and here kinn hasn’t his jacket on and his hair looks messy he seems so small and powerless like up to that point we saw a fierceless kinn with flames in his eyes and little to no fear surrounding his persona and this scene is maybe the first time we see that vulnerable of him side he then shows in episode 6 when he's alone with porsche and it is also the first time we see kinn actually positioned below his father and kind of scared of him as opposed to the other conversations they had in which it always seemed like they were almost at the same level and kinn always seemed at ease maybe just a bit intimidated as he should because he is anyway father an older person and the leader of their family so he should show respect always

so he's lost and he tries acting as normal as possible but he knows his father can see right through him and his eyes express that sense of vulnerability he's feeling trying to obtain his father's validation they start talking his father seems at ease and starts with small talks and it's kinn that finally breaks and goes to the point because he feels his father's judging gaze on him and the moment they start talking about porsche and about what happened between them the night before kinn is not the mafia boss anymore he's just a boy trying to justify his action to his father who's scolding him

'as a boss, i'm supposed to take care of him, aren't i?' he seems so lost he's trying to justify himself he just wants to hear his father say he did the right thing but

and kinn lowers his head once again avoiding eye contact with his father because deep down he knows that what he did was innapropriate

and at the end he says this, asking his father again what he should do, understanding that if he doesn't want people to gossip about what happened he needs to be bossy and reminds them who's in charge and punish porsche is the only way to do that

but then he says this and i think he says it because he wants his father to decide against the idea of punish porsche because kinn knows it wasn't porsche’s fault and he knows he doesn't deserve the punishment so it's like he's saying to his father 'are you sure we should punish him?'

my god look at this lil meow meow eyes he's so tamed he just wants to obey his father and don't dissapoint him it hurts

and the conversation between them ends like this with kinn visibly at loss and korn who once again established his power over his son

but then episode 7 happens and we hear korn say 'your eyes have changed' and they have indeed because the way kinn is looking at his father now after being alone with porsche in the forest for days is different those days apart from his reality really did something to him and he doesn't seem scared of his father and in search of validation anymore

(referring to the first picture of this post) this time kinn is not sitting opposite to his father but they're beside one another and neither of them turn their whole body towards the other they’re sitting straight and eying each other now he's watching his father how he watches everyone else like he's sitting on this golden throne above all else if his father was the one looking down before he's now looking up at him and it's so important that he indeed noticed it and says 'your eyes have changed'

kinn's expression does drop only because it's the first time he comes to term with the fact that porsche is changing him and the people who knows him are noticing it but he doesn't break eye contact with his father he doesn't lower his head he continues to look at his father fiercely and then his father proceeds with the apple and knife story which parallels the chess analogy he used in episode 5 and we see kinn reacts in a way that screams something along the 'what is this old man saying please shut up' opposite to the chess game when he was practically shitting his pants for how much he was afraid of his father's reaction and i love how opposite the two scenes are because now his father is trying to scare him again with his stories and lessons while what kinn gets from the whole conversation is the fact that he should work on his trust issues to be with porsche because he wants to be with him he wants to trust him he’s beginning to appreciate himself more because of how porsche makes him feel and he doesn’t want to treat these feelings as weaknesses but as a strengths and that's why he accepts the apple from his father and takes the bite he's accepting to be corrupted by the decision he's making that could jeopardize everything he has worked for ‘till that moment and it all culminates with kinn escaping the hospital to go and be with porsche and gifts him his gun(s)

his father asks him to come back to his old self for the sake of the family but later kinn confesses to tay that he doesn't want to be like his old self anymore he's aware of the progress he has made and he wants to move forward

the two scenes parallel each other and give us an insight in the changing developing of kinn's true character which i guess will come to its climax at the end of the series when he'll fully trust porsche with his life and they'll begin the us against the world act

I can't believe that Never let me go already ended. It was beautiful to witness the growth of Nueng and Palm, the progress of their relationship, them overcoming obstacles, facing them, challenging them; to catch glimpse of Ben and Chopper's relationship, to see Chopper's struggles, to cry and grief with them, to feel happiness and joy seeing all of them be content and happy.

Ok I usually agree with you on things but even as someone who didn't like tadc, I don't see the issue with selling merch?? Lackadaisy, hazbin/helluva boss, monkeywrench, literally almost every indie project does that, it's how they get a good amount of their funding, why is that itself an issue?

alright this'll be the last question i answer on it because we're officially at the point where people are saying "oh yeah, well what about this?" in reference to stuff i already spoke about, so i'll use this as a summary:

I was asked what I think about The Amazing Digital Circus a few weeks ago, and as a show, I think it's pretty inoffensive. I think the premise and character design is pretty generic, and I think the plot is definitely trend-riding, but ultimately the pilot had some funny jokes and pretty good visuals.

I added an addendum later on to follow up in saying that my perspective has shifted to one of disdain, because I'm sick of seeing it everywhere, and I'm tired of people saying it's already a masterpiece despite the minimal legwork it has put in so far as a story. This is compounded by the fact that the studio company behind it, Glitch Productions, is being unrelentingly commercial with it, to the extent that there was merch designed and available the same day the video itself went live, especially since the pilot itself was never even set to get a sequel, let alone a "series", despite the fact that it is being advertised and sold as a series. This left a bad taste in my mouth, as in my eyes it's become a pretty hollow flavor of the week fandom with a hype culture that people are conflating with actual quality.

Someone asked about the nature of the "no confirmed episode 2", which I later provided some context for in the form of a screenshot from an article where staff of Glitch Productions came forward and said pretty unambiguously that there wouldn't be more episodes unless people bought enough merch. This isn't a horrible sin by itself (Toby Fox famously sold merch for a demo of Deltarune), but the fact that merch sales are being treated like a crowdfunding campaign, with the threat of cancellation very unambiguously behind the "encouragement to buy merch in order to help greenlight the show", is a tactic that feels gross to me. Crowdfunding itself is okay, but the fact that there is no set goal in place, no "if we sell x amount of shirts the show will be get an entire season!" or anything like that, sounds a lot like "if you do not buy enough acrylic charms and tshirts then this show you like will not continue. how many have to be sold? we'll let you know when we reach the goal".

That is, in its entirety, the discourse, AKA my opinion that people kept asking for clarification and justification for. I personally really don't like The Amazing Digital Circus for its lack of depth combined with its ruthless commercialism. I find it repulsive in that way. That's it.

Endeavour Morse and the case of the disappearing Dean Martin song

Sway has always had one of my favourite openings of any Endeavour episode, mostly for the use of Sway by Dean Martin while the opening titles run. something about this romantic pop song being overlaid on top of the unfolding darkness and drama - and repeated multiple times throughout the episode to punctuate further tragedy - is so striking and really, really does it for me. by the time Huggins puts on that record for his final dance with Gloria, and Sway (the song) starts up, the opening chords are less of a fun bolero flourish and more a banshee shriek of horror to come.

so I was amazed to learn recently that the version of Sway (the episode) I've loved for ten years now... basically doesn't exist outside of the UK and Ireland? the Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour blog theorises that due to copyright restrictions, all overseas releases of the episode - including DVDs and the PBS Masterpiece version, which was later released on Amazon - replace Sway (the song) with a jazz instrumental piece composed by Barrington Pheloung. nothing but respect for Mr Pheloung's decades of work in defining Morse's sound as we know it today, but this replacement doesn't hold a candle to the original episode's vision.

(also, Sway (the song) is kind of hilariously load-bearing in that the episode title doesn't make a lot of sense without the song's appearance at key thematic moments, imo.)

anyway - after I made my initial post about this last week, a couple of people expressed interest in hearing the original episode's music, and after some digging I was able to find a copy ripped directly from ITV! enjoy the opening 3 minutes of Sway (the episode) as Russell Lewis intended:

Winter 2024 Anime Review

Solo Leveling - 24 Episodes

This has been and will be my most anticipated series. We've only scratched the surface of the story and people are going nuts. I've been reading the light novel translations for a while now and I'm not even a little ready for when certain things are animated.

Easily one of the best anime adaptations out there. More to look forward to.

Sidenote - A1 is killing the animations considering it's one of their bigger ones in a while.

Also - they did a really solid job with the sound design, a lot of the timing made certain scenes feel just that much more intense.

9/10 - Amazing

Frieren - 28 episodes

Such a unique watching experience.

I think so many shows these days are fast paced, and action oriented, especially within the fantasy genre. This is such a relaxing and enjoyable watch.

The story is moving and the animations are warm and fuzzy.

Not much I'd change about the series.

10/10 - Masterpiece

The Apothecary Diaries - 24 Episodes

The second half of this series kept up with the flow of the first half really well. I feel like that shouldn't be a feat but it really is these days.

I genuinely love watching the subtleties of the romance in this series and the medical mystery cases are just as fun to watch.

The story has so many little bits and pieces working throughout the show and the last episode had me wrecked for reasons I never saw coming.

Just overall a big fan of this series.

9/10 - Amazing

Delicious in Dungeon - 12/24 Episodes

This series has no right to be this much fun.

The animations match the energy of the show so well and I think it's one of the best "entertainment" series of the season.

I was worried it would start to repeat itself but found that the characters become the highlight of the series and I looked forward to every episode.

(This is the series this season that I'm high-key obsessed with.)

8.5/10 - Very Good+

Shangri-La Frontier - 25 Episodes

One of the most fun looking MMORPG animes I've seen. I remember reading the teaser manga a while ago and was stoked to see it animated. Just a genuinely well done gamer oriented series.

They do such a good job at showing exactly the kinds of small things gamers pay attention to and some of the combat learning is stellar.

Not to mention the sound track honestly did not need to go as hard as it did?!

Really hoping they continue on with this for another season.

8/10 - Very Good

Bucchigiri?! - 12 Episodes (Updated)

I haven't seen any coverage for this show for some reason. It's a one shot that Mappa animated. The story felt quite slow but I personally had fun with it, the character design was satisfying - gives a bit of Jojo's and SK8 vibes. After a few weeks I couldn't stop thinking about it and went back - it ends up being a decently satisfying story. It's rare to see single season shows and I think that was really refreshing.

(Opening and ending are both bangers)

7.5/10 - Good+

Mashle - Season 2 - 12 Episodes

I decided to watch this once all the episodes had aired. I found that it's not one you can be in the mood to watch all the time, but when you are it's just as hilarious as the first season.

I've enjoyed the pacing of the story and I'm looking forward to future seasons.

7.5/10 - Good+

Unwanted Undead - 12 Episodes

Another series I read the manga for when it premiered. There's something about this series that gets me hooked. While the animations aren't anything of note, I find the story is oddly unique and I ended up bingeing all the episodes in one go. Definitely one I'm curious to see where it goes.

7/10 - Good

Mr. Villain's Day Off - 12 Episodes

This is purely for my own personal interest in attractive moody villains with alter ego's. It's a lot of fun to watch and it's just so wholesome.

Kaiju Week in Review (November 26-December 2, 2023)

I wasn't over the moon when Toho announced that Takashi Yamazaki's Blockbuster Monster Movie was in fact the next Godzilla film. I had seen a few of his works—none bad, but none spectacular either. Well, I've set my sights on watching the rest in the new year, because Godzilla Minus One is an unqualified masterpiece. A tagline from the original Godzilla, King of the Monsters! comes to mind (as it often does when you're me): "Mightiest melodrama of them all!" A lot of the post-Showa films suffer from an abundance of characters who just spout exposition and look at monitors; here, almost everyone in the small cast gets at least one close encounter with Godzilla, and the monster's backstory is conveyed with extreme efficiency. This tale of a war veteran trying to rebuild his life in the ruins of Tokyo, stumbling into a family, finding fulfillment in blowing up leftover mines, and haunted by what he perceives as his cowardice in combat, would have been plenty compelling without Godzilla.

Since it does have Godzilla, it's high on my list of the best movies of the year, and I only need one viewing to call it one of the best installments in the almost-70-year-old series. Yamazaki patiently waited some 15 years after Always: Sunset on Third Street 2 for his shot at a Godzilla feature. You certainly get the sense, watching one of the most brutal, pissed-off incarnations of the monster ever to grace the screen, that he spent every day of it in preparation. Watch it often while it's still in theaters, and watch it big.

Godzilla Minus One will gross about $10 million in its U.S. opening "weekend", a third-place finish that beat expectations. For context, Godzilla 2000, the last Toho Godzilla film to receive a wide release here, made about $10 million during its entire theatrical run here. Ticket prices were cheaper then, of course, and Minus One was helped along further by almost half of attendees going to premium-format screenings. Conversely, it had to overcome Americans' subtitle phobia, and the first weekend of December is usually a slow one. I was pessimistic at the outset, but now I expect larger theaters to carry the film into the new year, especially with near-universal raves from critics and audiences.

Yes, a third section for Godzilla Minus One; it's well-deserved, I promise. MyKaiju is risking life and limb by hosting an English translation of the film's novelization, written by Takashi Yamazaki himself. It appears to be at least partially machine-translated, but the Japanese text is included for comparison. Haven't read it yet, as I want to see the film a second time first, but quite a breakthrough given how mysterious this sort of thing usually is.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters could never hope to compare with the opening of a stellar new Godzilla film; unfortunately, I also thought this week's episode was the weakest so far. It's bookended by Frost-Vark action, but the rest just drags. All's forgiven if the teacher and the hacker smooch though.

Toho and Legendary used to let each other's live-action Godzilla movies breathe; now the U.S. opening weekend of one is coinciding with the opening marketing push of the other. IGN released a trio of pics from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, showing Kong with his axe; Dr. Andrews, Jia, and Trapper (Dan Stevens's character) in uniform; and Godzilla "evolving into a powerful new form." The same article included an interview with director Adam Wingard. Naturally, he didn't give away much... besides the return of Doug.

Earlier in the week, Legendary put out a trio of posters featuring Godzilla, Kong, and the film's antagonist, now christened Skar King. The taglines ("Unite" for our heroes, "Bow to Your King" for SK) sound like kaiju campaign slogans. Makes me wonder if, like Godzilla vs. Megalon before it, the movie will improbably capitalize on the presidential election next year. To steal a joke from Titanollante: Godzilla/Kong unity ticket? They'd have my vote.

Godzilla's new form, meanwhile, has already been spoiled by a T-shirt on Legendary's own site and some dire-looking Playmates figures. It makes sense that Wingard would want to have his own spin on the character after keeping the design from Godzilla: King of the Monsters for Godzilla vs. Kong. Hard to cast judgment without seeing the real design in full, but there's one particular detail I really like.

The film also has a booth at CCXP in Brazil, with a panel later today, so I think a trailer is incoming (the main reason I hammered out this whole post so quickly).

I missed this one last week: Tsuburaya announced an anime project called Ultraman: DARKNESS HEELS. The DARKNESS HEELS branding has been around for a while, spotlighting prominent evil Ultras—and, of course, Jugglus Juggler. No details on the anime yet, but if the Juggleman's there, so am I.

The big toy reveal this weekend was Super7's ULTIMATES! MaiGoji figure. Previous Godzilla figures from this line haven't lived up to the official photos, but hope springs eternal. It's $85 (much less than the MonsterArts); preorders started Friday. Five Hargreaves x F!reader

Summary: five didn't come home when he promised.

Word count: 1.5k

Five didn't come home on time.

Five promised you that he would be home by the time dinner was ready. Before he left earlier that day you explicitly remember him saying that's when he would get home.

And yet dinner has already been over with and done. You even cleaned up the table. Put away the leftovers, clean and washed the dishes. Putting them in the dishwasher. Cleaned and swept the kitchen. Took a shower and brushed your teeth. You put on your pajamas for the night. And now you sat on the couch re-watching an old show. Day turned night.

Still five was yet to return home. He lied. He lied to you. He could be anywhere right now, in any time period for that matter. But at this very moment he was supposed to be in your shared home. Now here you were, alone. You trust him enough to know how to handle himself and hold his own. Therefore he should know that actions have consequences.

As you stared at the TV mounted to your wall you heard the oh so familiar squeak of the front door opening followed by five setting down his briefcase and removing his shoes.

Rounding the corner into the living room he immediately saw you under the soft light of the lamp with an expression on your face that was anything but joy. It took five a solid second to realize what he had done. Before he squeezed his eyes shut and ran his hands over his face and through his hair.

"Shit I'm sorry"

You got up off the couch before slowly making your way to him. Talking as you walked.

"You're sorry?" You scoffed

"God yes I'm so sorry. Time slipped and I didn't reali-"

"What time did you say you would get home?" You asked keeping your voice calm

"Before dinner" five said, keeping his head down

"That's right. Now you see dinner was at six thirty. And what time is it now?" You asked now infront of five

Five checked his wrist watch before continuing.

"Ten" five swallow the lump in his throat. Still staring down at his feet

"Look at me five." You said lifting up his head with your fingers "So you're admitting that you didn't do as promised?" You continued to ask

"Yes" five said quietly

"And what happens when you break the rules like this?" You already know the answer but hearing him say it is simply so so much better.

"I get punished"

"Mhhmh, so you think that you deserved to get punished?" You asked. Making sure he consented.

"Yes" he said, voice still ever so quiet

"What was that?" you said, teasing him.

"yes I do think I deserved to be punished"

"Good, now I'm going I'm going to finish this episode and you are going to walk up to the bedroom and take off every clothing item off your body. And if you're good I might let you choose what punishment you think you deserve. Sounds good to you baby boy?" You explained, walking back to the couch and getting back cozy under the blanket you had.

Five nodded before making his way to the stairs and disappearing into the bedroom.

If you 're honest you didn't pay much attention to the rest of the episode. Nonetheless you waited and waited. You even watched one more for good measure. And to your surprise you didn't hear one whine or complain from upstairs.

After a good solid forty-five minutes passed you dug for the remote to pause the show and turn off the TV. Removing the blanket and leisurely walking your way to the bedroom. You opened the door to see five in the middle of the bed leaning against the headboard.

"I don't think you just finished one episode"

You walk towards the closet to get out the old case file box that was now filled with things much more fun than files. You picked out a nice pair of and cuffs before pulling out a few different colors of blind folds. Before making your way to five.

“ Ugh! Why must artblock be such a bitch!?” You cried out scribbling over the drawings you deemed not good.

You’ve had nothing but what feels like years of artblock. Even though it’s only been two weeks you just really wanted draw something and be happy with it but with whatever you drew you immediately hated it or just couldn’t get it how you wanted it to look. Including when a single idea came to mind it would completely vanish the moment you tried to draw. It was almost as if the gods forbid you to draw. Eventually you sighed out too frustrated to keep going as you tossed your sketch book to the side of your nightstand with your pencil and eraser.

“ Maybe watching some TV will do the trick?” You questioned to yourself .

As you grabbed the remote to the Tv flipping through the dully colored shows. Some more mature, too childish for you, others too in appropriate for you. Soon enough after your mindless flipping you came across a bright and colorful show displaying its intro. Now this looked interesting! You put the remote down onto a nearby surface as your eyes were now glued to the TV. Everything about the show from beginning to end captivated you. The show’s character designs were outstanding, the animation even more the puppets was almost too smooth like they were alive, and just everything about it made you admire it. But one character in particular caught your attention.

Wally Darling the main character of the show drew you into it even more. You loved his design and character traits. He was like a little gremlin! It didn’t help that he was also 12 apples tall. He was just a tiny little gremlin in your eyes that loved apples and drew. Him also being an artist was just a bonus for you!

“ Now! What do you think I should draw today?” He asked through the screen staring at the viewer who was currently you.

“ How about I draw you?” You muttered eyes flickering back and forth to a cream colored page and the colorful puppet.

Your art block finally vanished from your new obsession with the main character Wally. His design was supper easy to draw his figure too was just as easy. It didn’t help that the day after watching the show and drawing him the next few episodes all he did was give you brilliant and adorable poses. It was like he was practically begging you to draw him.

What a model he was. It was almost as if he never wanted you to take your eyes off of him. Like he was your little model doing anything you needed without being asked to. The perfect model indeed. But everyone has their secrets right? And your precious model had many.

He swung his legs back and forth with glee as he laid on his plush stomach on the the floors of your room. Flipping through your many many many pages of him and his friends. But mainly him. He couldn’t believe that he was the main focus of your inspiration. Him! Wally Darling the main focus of your own masterpieces. He had to admit you really did have some talent with shading and even just with drawing in general. You were just as good as him! It made him so happy almost too happy.

Looking over to your sleeping figure he couldn’t help but just want to give you a hug as a thank you for your amazing work. What kind of neighbor would he be if he didn’t thank you for being so kind as to draw him?

So as quietly as he could he had gotten up off of his little legs pushing up from the ground to tip toe over to your sleeping figure. Somewhere in your own dream land unaware and so unknowingly vulnerable to anyone who came in here. You should be glad it was him and not some horrible soul! Wally never exactly understood sleeping. Every time he tried he’d wake up in a panic scared of the horrible things his imagination came up with in his own dream land. You just looked so peaceful. He must admit that he envied you and his friends for having the gift of sleep. He’s almost surprised he doesn’t have eye bags like Franks. Just as he reached your comfy bed he couldn’t reach up. Pouting as he tried to quietly jump up without waking you. He couldn’t reach you even as he pitifully tried. Your bed was too high for his small plush legs to reach. He wondered how you even got up her everyday. You must of had to do some kind of cardio to achieve the top of this thing!

You stirred around on top of the bed hearing a small pitter patter constantly tapping your floor. You assumed it was your pet wanting attention. It was your fault for spoiling them so much they they only scratched at your bedside or tried to jump onto it so you would cuddle them. Tiredly sitting up you turned to the side of the constant pitter patter you felt around for them eventually feeling something soft and pulling them up. Not even giving it a second thought to the difference in the texture of your baby.

“ You’re so pitiful.” You told them nuzzling their forehead before dozing off to sleep.

Well this was unexpected. You’re now hugging him and he can’t get out of your grip now. Home is going to be so mad at him if he doesn’t hurry up. But at the same time you’re so comfy as you gently huggs you with his plush form. Why must the world be so cruel that he has to go soon ending this amazing moment sooner than he wants it to. If he could he would just lay in your arms forever always able to have your warm figure cuddling him. Wow he could actually go to sleep for once. But the sun is about to rise and home will lock him out again if he doesn’t come back! This was so unfair. After he sadly wiggled out of your loving grip he jumped off the bed. Landing face first onto the hard floor. How lovely?

He bit his tongue rushing towards the TV to scream out in pain as freely as he wanted to.

You woke up in an award position as if you were hugging something. You stretched your arms out trying to undo a few knots in your back. All the sudden you heart your pet making a ruckus at the door. You huffed getting out of bed to see what got them so rilled up. Soon you came to the door hearing the bell ringing. Opening the door you saw a small rectangular box at the bottom of your feel. Looking around the corner unsure you ordered anything that was supposed to arrive today.

You brought it inside to see if you could find an address or anything to know who’s it was and to your dismay there was no sticker or anything just a colorful. Little box the red, orange, and yellow pattern looked familiar. You decided to open it up to see if there was anything in there.

As you opened it you couldn’t help but squeal. It was a little Wally puppet! Whoever this was supposedly to go to was never getting it back now. You couldn’t believe it! There was only so much and so few Wally Darling puppets ever sold. You fawned over the doll not noting its smile growing by the moment as you hugged it.

Jungkookie was very quiet and reflective during his most recent Weverse live, at least at first.

Perhaps he was manifesting his Jimin to appear in the comments because he stared at them for a while... a long while.

Earlier in the evening, with Tae, he attended the movie premiere of Dream, a soccer movie with a ragtag team storyline. A team of misfits who come together and persevere. It stars Tae's friend, Park Seojoon, Wooga squad and fellow cast member on Jinny's Kitchen.

He looked happy to be there but self-conscious at the same time. Unused to the crowds and spotlight after being out of it for a while. He didn't have anyone to hide behind. It looks like maybe he said "oh my god" when he stepped up in front of the bank of cameras (haha).

After having a supposedly fun outing, Kookie came to visit us on Weverse live and seemed to have a lot on his mind. He said he missed us and wished us good health both physically and mentally. I imagine Hobi leaving for service and Moonbin's tragedy last week are fresh cuts to our Kookie's heart. It breaks MY heart that Kookie has to experience those things. I don't know how close Kookie was to Moonbin. But I do know losing someone so suddenly can make you so scary aware of your own mortality and makes you realize instantly what should truly be important and what is irrelevant.

I am thinking his evening out had him keyed up and he came to visit with us in order to decompress and relax. He said the only ones who could create a calming environment for him right now was Army. However, the (I'm sure inane) comments he was seeing were not doing the trick. He seemed a little perturbed at them so he turned them off.

But he said sitting there knowing we were on the other side was calming and enough for him at that moment. He felt at peace knowing we are all connected. And then he let out a big sigh. Sort of a "I'm doing the best I can" sigh. Oh Kookie, I feel you.

Incidentally, the song he said he was obsessed with that evening and that he had playing in the background on repeat was I Really Want to Stay At Your House by Rosa Walton & Hallie Coggins ... some of the lyrics:

He said he's working hard on new music but its difficult. If he says its not easy, then the final result will probably be OUTSTANDING because he struggled to make HIS version of perfect. Masterpieces are sometimes not easy to create.

He was steadily sinking, sitting in the dark, sipping his highball through a straw but after 35 minutes of solemnity and saying he needed to go to sleep, he all of a sudden came alive when he began talking about food... go figure.

He waffled back and forth about whether he should just get off his butt and make the noodles or go to sleep, but then he really got into it and explained in great detail this recipe, down to the proper color of the perilla oil to use. Though he didn't have the correct perilla oil in his pantry, he made the sauce and boiled the noodles.

The whole idea of him puttering around his kitchen trying out new ways to make noodle or rice dishes is very endearing. He does have somewhat of a head start in advanced levels of cooking though because of the times they filmed Run BTS episodes with Chef Paik. He learned important cooking procedures like "reduce" the liquid in the pan and desirable "viscosity" of the sauce.

When he's into it, HE. IS. INTO. IT. He adjusted his recipe, repeated the ratios of ingredients, explained in great detail every step.

Please. Someone just hug him. JIMIN COME GET YOUR MAN.

I tend to lose a bit of focus in Fromage, because Hannibal and Will are each playing their long games, and I don't find Tobias Budge interesting. Maybe I would if he wasn't just another mirror for Hannibal. Maybe even as a mirror, I'd like him more if we hadn't just finished 2 other episodes with Ripper copycats.

Tobias is just... too esoteric in his aims. He kills for art, sure, but doesn't care about the performance. He's an artist who keeps all of his masterpieces hidden in his basement. I generally detest people who think that only they can properly appreciate a piece of art, and Tobias seems like one of those people. At least Hannibal has that line about "it's not what you enjoy, but how". But Tobias? He bores me. He's just an elitist asshole who stays friends with Franklyn to make himself feel superior. It's bland narcissistic behaviour.

Even Will's trial-by-fire isn't super interesting until we get to see Hannibal's reaction to it. We know that he just - impulsively - pointed Will towards the serial killer who had a plan to kill every agent he encountered. But Will had just kissed Alana, and Tobias had just got away, and Franklyn had been pissing him off for weeks, and Hannibal pulls a move while he's in emotional shambles.

We know that Will must survive Tobias (this was well before the "kill your leads" trope became common in shows), but Hannibal has no sweet clue what he's done. You can see it as he looks around his office after the fight. Hannibal is a predator, and very used to killing people, but Tobias' death was a hard-won victory. And Hannibal knows that Will is sick, hallucinating, and unused to fighting someone who has nothing to lose.

For a few seconds, he honestly thinks he might have killed Will. I don't believe for a second that Hannibal wouldn't have rationalized his way out of guilt and grief. But killing Will wasn't something he actually wanted to do. I think he sent Will to the den of a snake, knowing that his mongoose would be able to handle himself. It's only when Will actually walks through the door - and Hannibal feels the relief of knowing he's survived - that he really understands just how much he nearly fucked up.

No Will means no friend means no possible future where he gets to prove that he's different from someone like Franklyn. Hannibal's whole self-image is tied up so tightly with his expectations for Will that he can't separate Will's fate from his own anymore.

(And I honestly think this is the moment that Hannibal realizes that he's in love. It's not even their most meaningful conversation, but it's the moment that Hannibal has to face a world without Will - and decides he doesn't want it. That he's going to keep Will alive.

Not necessarily healthy or free of suffering, but definitely alive.)

Calling her name as you walked through the halls, you finally heard a mumbly, barely audible “What?” coming from the home theatre. You opened the door, and there she was. She was slumped on one of the leather chairs, focused on the movie that was playing on the big screen. And could tell she was not happy.

You took a seat next to her, and wrapped an arm around her. She showed no reaction. You decided to try and get her talking.

“Hey sweetie, whatcha watching?” You asked.

“Mean Girls.” She answered grumpily and unenthusiastically. You hummed, and turned your attention to the TV. It was the scene where The Plastics invite Cady to have lunch with them for the week. You knew most of this scene by heart, so to lighten the mood, you decided to quote a bit.

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink.” You said, at the same time as Karen.

After you did that, you saw Velvet crack a smile. Just barely, but it was definitely a smile. Hoping to cheer her up more, you pulled her closer to you, so that the two of you were cuddling. She let out a grunt of protest, but eventually gave in. She rested her head on your shoulder, and you silently congratulated yourself for making her a bit less upset.

Leaning your head down a bit, you placed a long, tender kiss to Velvet’s forehead. “I love you.”

Velvet hummed happily, and nuzzled her head into your neck. You smiled, and wrapped both arms around her, hugging her tight.

You don’t know why Velvet was grumpy, but you know that she didn’t like talking about it. So instead, you just comfort her, and help her mood get better. Watching one of her favorite movies with her was a good way to do it. So you keep this in mind for future reference.

Now, the two of you sat together, watching this iconic cinematic masterpiece. Velvet was happier, so you declared your mission complete.
