alright i finally finished the uncanny counter 2 and…

THIS IS ALL MY OPINION AND IM BLABBING AND IT IS YAP TIME
it’s 1am so i’m a lil coocoo
once again all MY OPINION if anyone sees this
honestly speaking this season was alright. it def did not compare to season one, which i was expecting. yet it wasn’t up to par with it either. it felt like too much and not enough at the same time so it kinda fell flat to me
in season one everything was connected and there were very clear motives. from the bullying, so mun’s parents, the evil spirits, ji chung shin himself, and the corrupt government. and chung shin’s backstory made me feel for him which is what made him a great antagonist imo. like i loved him
but hwang pil gwang (slick back), gelly (hongjoong variant LMFAOO), and wong (just wong tbh)….mmph
i can’t really remember the beginning it took me 2 months to finish it but, dude and his crew showed up outta nowhere and just started creating chaos for funsies???? now don’t get me wrong, i’m all for villainy for fun but i just couldn’t get into for some reason with them. it just feels like their characters weren’t fleshed out enough for me to actually like them no matter how fine they are bc the whole crew could get it
and then we move to ma ju seok my adoring and loving husband. now this was something i could get behind. him going on a rampage trying to get revenge for his wife and baby, having enough rage to summon an evil spirit on his own??? like that’s what i’m talking about!!! i felt for him and wanted him to succeed bc that con man was also annoying as shit. i really and truly wanted him dead bc he was the absolute worst jfc
if the story only focused on him, and getting his revenge and having to take him down. and only him. seeing how far his rage could take him and what would happen ON HIS OWN without any outside manipulation pil hwang *coughs* would have been a lil more interesting to me and i think i would have enjoyed it more. ik pil gwang wanted his power n shit BUT WHY. like give me a reason.
TO ME hwang pil gwang and his crew added absolutely nothing to this for me. and gelly betraying slick back and all that other stuff just felt unnecessary to me. gelly not being able to do anything and literally almost every single time the crew showed up, and bc pil gwang wouldn’t help her. GIRLY STAND UP AND HAVE SOME RESPECT YOU ARE A BADASS TF YOU DOIN???? GET OFF YA KNEES
AND ms chu’s newest child lim jae yeol….why was he there??? and be honest. what did he do for the plot other than give ms chu another child and show her backstory
and then do hwi, lawd my sweet piano man. WE WENT THROUGH ALL THAT JUST FOR HIM TO FORGET HA NA IN THE END I WAS SO PISSED bc once again. what tf did he add. i feel like he could have been good to ha na, genuinely. imagine getting dumped by ya not girlfriend after y’all done hung out together and have each other hiccup remedies, and then getting attacked by someone who finna rap they verse in bouncy i am so dead
i understand they were trying to idk, give their characters more depth but pls
mo tak punching so mun was NAWT on my 2023 kdrama bingo card. and he didn’t even apologize for it!!!! i understand he was angry and upset bc he thought lost his partner and so mun was doing a bit too much but i just feel like that was outta character for him to do…. and for him to not apologize for it was just, what???
and don’t get me started on jeok beong. i was um, expecting a lil bit more. yoo in soo is a FANTASTIC actor. if you told me he was gwi nam from aouad before hand i would have passed out. THAT MF RANGE IS INSANE!! but, but, jeok bong could have been more. i love him to death but he stayed the same person the entire time. granted towards the end he did start meshing with the group a bit better and throwing ideas out and stuff but i dunno bruh. i was feeling him and not feeling him at the same time.
the same goes for kang ki young. baby if you say that was myung seok from attorney woo i would have passed out pt2. like he did his thang bc i deadass hated his character even tho he was looking good as hell
the lack of so mun’s friends also bummed me out bc i really like them and they are an important part of his life. wanted to see more of those three together as well. my found family was not found with them this season
but the counters dynamic was still a++ like that’s real family. teasing ha na and do hwi, ha na having to save so mun while he was in a coma, then going to yung to ask why so mun leaving, jeok bong calling mun his brother just *wipes tear* magnificent
and why tf did mun have to lose his powers again. we did that shit in season one there was no need for that tbh

CHARACTER BINGO!!! Gimme your thoughts and feelings on Juza, Chikage and Sakyo! ^^/
Oh... Oh boy... Okay here we go
Like a brother to me wanna take him out for sweets and also to therapy. I just want nice things for him he's such a good boy and he's struggling so hard. I also get that he's got something to prove to himself as much as too the people around him like I feel that. Plus okay purple and gold color palette??? Letrerman jacket?? Soft baby smile when his guard is down? Peak character design baby! In other news I was gonna put the dynamic one down because he's got so. Many interesting groupings (his role as Aki's guiding light, how he fits in within the Hudosakisaka family, o-high shenanigans, his whole deal with Tenma, HIS WHOLE DEAL WITH BANRI). But ultimately he's so interesting on his own it felt unfair to mark that one.
Look the man thought KIDNAPPED THE MC was a valid expression of grief. Bastard cabbage energy. Horrible person (affectionate), if he were real id marry him (derogatory). Chikagr is fascinating to me because his introduction is where A3!'s plot really begins to go off the rails, but it's somehow still believable??? Like don't get me wrong this man is unhinged but he loves his family so much???? And once he realizes there's people he can count on he channels all that energy into keeping them safe and happy and I can vibe with that. But also please put him under a microscope for my personal entertainment.
Ahh our resident old man jfc.. I know this doesn't look like a lot on the card but honestly most my thoughts towards him don't really fit neatly into these categories. I LOVE how he started as an antagonist and genuinely threatening one in the first half of act one, and how he didn't lose that edge after joining the Mankai troupe. Like everything that made him formidable is still there, but now you get to see him be soft and dorky and find a proper channel for his regrets 🥺
I will say that while I like him on his own I like him SO much better when playing off other characters, especially since he personally knew the OG Mankai members. Of course there's his relationship to Sakoda, Azami, and the Ginsenkai group, but he also wears the hat of semi-reluctant troupe dad, and his whole deal with Izumi is so funny it's almost painful. But I think my favorite dynamic is hearing Yuzo and the other old troupe members call this grumpy 30 year old team dad with the heart of an octogenarian "kid" 🤣.
Despite all this I really admire Sakyo's role in supporting Izumi in her goal, even when he had to be the bad guy in the scenario. He's also very interesting to me because he embodies a very clear distinction between regretting your past and being ashamed of it, which is a journey he himself is on through the course of the game.

Pissed off my brother-in-law on Saturday, with two comments.
He's in town for a week or so, we were doing a weekend thing. As part of smalltalk it came up that he's going grey and their stepmom asked him when he was going to start dyeing his hair. Not that she intended to be mean or anything, she's very sweet and happy, but dang. And I said that she just wanted to knock his ego down a peg.
This family busts eachother's chops constantly, in ways that make me ask my husband "jfc do you want me to call them out on that," but apparently implying that he has an ego is beyond the pale.
The second comment is that we were playing bingo and he kept up a patter of 'these numbers suck' 'this game is no good' 'call better numbers,' not in a serious complaint way but a way that I find to be a buzzkill, and after pointing out that other people had worse cards, that's the way this game works, etc, I included "sometimes it's not about you" which caused him to declare that his friends know he's a good and warm and friendly guy who isn't self-centered, and he didn't travel here to take this, and then to storm off for half an hour or rather that's how long their dad waited for him after we had left so probably more like an hour.
He's still mad, as of today-wednesday morning, per phone call to my husband (who asked me later to rehash what on earth I'd said to make him so mad, since he barely remembered me saying anything, and asked how I wanted this dealt with since he doesn't wanna put words in my mouth, which I appreciate).
no point to all this. Maybe something about distrusting people who loudly declare themselves to be nice. I'd be somewhat concerned that this is the second person I egregiously pissed off recently, but my husband agrees I "didn't do anything wrong, [i] just didn't placate him."

I looooove the vibe of season 4. At first it was pretty jarring to have all 3 storylines to run at the same time but the cuts and pacing was pretty masterful
The cali storyline is my least favorite as predicted, but still enjoyable
One of the main themes of this season is jfc can anyone just be nice to El
Vecna being Creel's son?!?! Did not have that on my bingo card.
Not sure how I feel about Nancy/Steve just because it feels like Nancy just keeps going back and forth
Steve continues to be superior
and I love Eddie
Robin seemed so confident in her own skin last season and in at least the beginning of this season it was like the total opposite. Glad to see she's getting back on track in the last few episodes

I thought Dustin and Steve were being pretty mean to each other so far so it was nice to see Steve surprised when Eddie said how much Dustin talks about him and thinks he's cool
OH JOYCE AND HOPPER AND MURRAY AND ENZO
So glad we got a Jopper reunion before the break and I knew they weren't going to break out of prison by like Episode 3 but I was still shocked by Yuri's doublecross.

It's Panic At the NaNo hours because I could've used the time I spent drawing Luke on meeting the daily word goal but I didn't. Regrets? None. I'm a visual person and I need to see my ideas with my own two eyes. It also just don't feel right if I don't post some kind of art to the blog once a week.
More concept designing based on the real sweet designs in the Art of the Mandalorian Season 1 book (also patterned Din's look on some of these early takes). I wanted to see them in actual poses just so that I know these ideas work. What's going on with Din's new costume? Spoilers.
Now that these are up, time to spend the weekend balancing NaNo with my new art assignment! RIP me.

DTS Season 4, Ep 1
My live-blogging under the cut! Full of spoilers, obviously.
This show is so pretty to look at, but some of the production looks like it was done by a college kid just learning how to do cool transitions on a power point.
I would literally pay Netflix to never put a shot of Christian Horner jogging on my screen again.
I do love seeing all these pretty people in 4K. And the landscapes too. And the cars. But mostly the pretty people.
Watching these Team Principles get coached into modeling for the camera is T H E most cringe thing ever. Their egos are big enough, okay. Enough already.
Toto is...a large man. Very large.
It's funny watching this after having seen the season. Like, the drama of Mercedes' car not doing great in testing is not really drama when you know what happened over the course of the season. It really puts into perspective how DTS tries to build an internal narrative that's separate from reality.
Christian is such an asshole, lmao. I just want to punch his stupid face.
Now Christian and Geri riding horses? Give me a breaaakkk.
They really do pay Will Buxton to state the obvious, don't they? "You want to qualify first, because then the other 19 drivers will be behind you." Oh really? Thanks.
Literally every time Daniel speaks my heart sinks, because I know what's coming in episode 2 already.
I do kind of wish the races themselves all had the production value of DTS. If you could switch between the drivers' cameras and radios and footage from overhead and footage of their faces, that would be amazing. Although they'd probably never allow that.
Lewis fighting with the pit wall about when to box should definitely be a spot on every Grand Prix bingo card.

I did actually forget about Max having to give Lewis the place back in Bahrain. The season is so long I'm sure I'm going to be reminded of all kinds of stuff I forgot while watching this.
