how do you animate? ive always wanted to but idk where to start, any advice? love your art btw
thank you!! i Love encouraging people to learn to animate it seems daunting at first but once you get the hang of the basics you can basically do anything
i Started learning animation by not even animating, i just would rewatch all the original animaniacs skits animated by tokyo movie shinsha over and over again and go through them frame by frame to study the timing and movement on any shots i liked, timing is probably the Most important part of animation and a lot of it genuinely just comes down to intuition, so it's good to get into the habit of studying any animation you like frame by frame, i Still do this all the time [usually just for fun but also to use as actual tangible motion reference in whatever i'm working on, for example i learned to animate lightning effects from hunter X hunter and i learned to animate floaty bouncy movements from perfect blue]
BUT i'm getting ahead of myself, basically it's good to study animation you like before jumping right into actually animating, but that won't do you any good if you don't understand the fundamentals!! this also gives me an excuse to do a warmup for once which i usually skimp out on [<-hack fraud]
the first thing ANY animation class will teach you is The Dreaded Bouncing Ball [<-i actually like animating balls][<-intentional euphemism], because it's both simple And teaches you really essential basic animation skills such as A) motion, in general B) timing C) how timing sheets basically work, and occasionally D) squash&stretch!
you'll sometimes see animators draw charts with a bunch of lines off in the corner of a page, that's basically an old-timey timing sheet! each dash on the line indicates how many frames for a particular movement; for example, the top ball bounce has more frames bunched up at the top where it moves slowly, less frames when it's moving fast
if every motion you animate uses the same number of frames to do any movement, it'll look weird, because nothing in real life typically moves like that. you can demonstrate this in real life by just moving your hand in front of your face from one side to the other really fast; you won't see it in the middle, because that's where it's moving the fastest. this is basically where the principles for smear frames comes from!
the second thing they teach you in animation school is flour sacks so really animation is just all about nothin but balls and sacks
but the flour sack exercise is slightly more complicated so my advice for Getting STarted really ends here. once you have the hang of bouncing balls, you can apply those principles to things like character animation; some of the first "character animation" type things i ever animated when i was first learning were just really quick expression changes and flinching. this also teaches you about anticipation and what richard williams [author of the animator's survival kit highly recommend seeking out a PDF of that, he also was animation director on who framed roger rabbit and he made thief&the cobbler, he also animated some sequences on the raggedy ann&andy movie] calls Takes&Accents
this is a Really Really simple way to get started on character animation, this is only four frames! a lot of really bouncy-looking anime tend to animate their expressions pretty much exactly like this. you can always add more frames to make it smoother or more expressive, sometimes you'll also see an "anticipate up" frame before the "anticipate down", but remember the Timing is key so if you're adding more frames, try not to shift the timing too much or it might look awkward
OK i have spend like two hours typing this up instead of actually working on what i was supposed to today LOL i hope this helped at all if you have any more questions ever feel free to ask i Love talking about animation
OH ONE MORE THING!!!! i started learning animation in adobe animate [the software that was formerly Flash] but it SUCKS!!!! DON'T USE ADOBE ANIMATE!!!! i currently use a pirated copy of toonboom harmony which is THE industry standard 2D animation software and also just the best art program i have ever used in general, but it is CRAZY expensive that's why i pirated you can also invest in a perpetual license for clip studio paint pro or EX, but pro only lets you use 24 frames Total on a timeline and EX is like two hundred somethin dollars, OR i've heard decent things about procreate dreams? which is a mobile app IDK if it has a desktop version but i think it's only like twenty bucks

thank u... im actually flopping between it rn... though i know i dont have the actual power to decide to be done with it, bc life is full of unexpected events, and i am young, but my line of thinking was, well because it would be so much more of a hassle for a next person, its best to just remove that hassle from the "market" completely lol...

#me? about to use tumblr as a diary again? in 2024? unfortunately:/#but here have a waterfall i saw on a hike last week as payment#i am sO tired and exhausted emotionally after dating#there's this guy that i fr thought was going to last and be around for a long time. we spent like every moment together that we could for 2#months straight and if we werent physicaly together we were texting or calling or on ft . just every part of our day had the other in it#not once did i ever feel unwanted undesired or uncared for. not once did i feel that i wasnt sure of his intentions. i felt safer with him#in those 2 months than i ever did with any one else i could think to compare to.#until one day he just didnt think it important to communicate any more. after 3 days of nearly nothing .. hardly any talking . i asked if#he was ok if we were ok. what was going on in his head. he said some ive just been with my buddies and family and havent been on my phone#and just. immediately thats heartbreak yanno. thats :// thats what they say when theres a new girl. but there'd never been a reason to think#there was another girl so i was like ok we're gonna trust bc this dude has been So good in every way. so i said imy but i understand. enjoy#your time with your buddies and with your fam -- i cant wait to hear about it (and hold you)#and i havent heard from him in the 3 weeks since. just randomly#so last night#i send the dreaded 'i miss you' text.#i dont expect to hear back and i accept the hurt that will come with that and the confusion that i've felt settles deeper into my heart#until this afternoon i hop on ig and see a hard launch that was posted an hour after my text was sent#that shit kinda hurt different. but also sent me into a bit of a delirious state where all i could do is laugh bc are you for fucking real#did she see my message? i know it. bc i know him and i know that he wouldnt hide anything from the person he's giving his heart#and his softness to. i can almost imagine how he showed her and promised her theres nothing to worry about#and there really isnt anything to worry about because he genuinely is the type to give his all to the relationship he's in#which feels silly to say after what happened w us. like no there wasnt a title ever#it sucks to call it a situationship because a month ago we were laughing in bed together about how we could never bc we were all in.#just the timing of the hard launch makes me giggle. did my text push them to have a conversation about what they are. was she really the#reason that he went away on me.#im trying not to blame myself . trying not to think about the phone calls i didnt answer. about what i could have done differently. trying#not to think about where we would be if i didnt let my anxieties hold me back. if i wasnt scared about what he'd think of the parts of me#that i keep hidden just a little bit longer than the rest.#and at the same time im trying not to put him on a pedestal. but that pedestal is just where i wholeheartedly believe he belongs#he set the bar for me. he set the standard. i was never too much. i was never too little. he made me feel perfect just as i am

Thinking more about the kind of story The Cursing of Château Castle is. I forgot to add in that post I made the description of the "general story" of it but I think the bookcases in the Castle-Loving One's house is lined with that book and Siffrin describes it as "a story where bad things happen to good people" when he originally thought it was romance because of Mirabelle being a big romance fan.
I'm specifically thinking about the fact that Issue #48 is the most hated one out of 87. If we think about this some more, the book's length per issue is possibly short, estimatedly around a 1 hour to 2 hours read. Considering how Mira was able to read Issue #87 in ten minutes, it could be that she's a fast reader or it could also be that she skimmed through some parts of it. Either way, it was possible to read it in ten minutes and still be able to get the gist of it, so each issue isn't very long.
Pierre-Jacques-Erneste betrayed the party in Issue #51, it's only just two issues After whatever happened in 48, so it's very possible that some Heavy stuff happened in #48 that could be where some foreshadowing about his betrayal in the future took place. There might've even be a big argument that happened in it, or someone's life got endangered and it was because of something that Pierre-Jacques-Erneste in a "innocent" manner but too innocently suspicious for the readers and some characters in that story to see that there's something wrong but not Too obviously shown for it to still be a "What a twist!" moment.
It also seems like whatever took place in Issue #51 could possibly be a tense moment from the "What a turn of events!!!" so stuff happening in it might've been a big event after another which makes it all the more exciting. Issue #48 might've set up some stuff for that which made it be the one and only issue out of 87 to have sucked so bad no one liked it.

What is the point of insurance. I file a claim. They call me. Say they need more information. None of the information is about the actual incident, it’s all stuff they already have on file about my car (make and model, license plate, etc). Oh! They also have to ask if I had a child’s car seat in the car at the time of the incident, because apparently that’s important. And finally after all of this I ask, “so now what? Are you gonna pay for this?” and the lady goes “to be completely honest, it will probably be cheaper for you to find a shop on your own that will do it the cheapest than go through one connected with your insurance because you’re technically at fault for this and will end up paying for it out of pocket most likely because of the way your copay is set up.” HELLO??? HELLO!?!? I’m at fault for someone breaking my window and trying to steal my car???? God fucking dammit I hate insurance why am I PAYING for this every month just for you to not cover anything 😭😭
#it is a new car and through the dealership I have a full warranty#so fingers crossed THEY will cover the window repair#I just know even if they do it will take WAY longer#and it’s starting to get cold out so I really don’t wanna have to drive long with no window#I guess it could be worse my drive to work is only about 15 min but stillllllll#idk I just called the dealership but no one was available to talk to in the repair center#so I left a message I hope they get back to me at some point in the next couple hours#if not I’ll try calling again#idk… absolute WORST case scenario and I can’t get insurance OR my warranty to cover this#it’ll probably be about 300 bucks based on the estimates I got from a couple other shops#which like is doable for me it’s not the end of the world#I’ll just be stretched tight for a month#and probably have to put off getting my wisdom teeth removed since I was JUST getting ready to set that up#since they’re getting really painful#(if insurance will even cover them el oh el if not I’ll just fucking suffer)#uuugggghhhhh this is just so fucking frustrating and annoying#even the insurance lady was like ‘ooo that sucks it’s a new car too’#like YEAH GIRL I KNOW YOU DONT HAVE TO TELL ME#I’m 😭😭😭😭#kaz rambles

Ah fuck it, I lied! I won't be migrating to pillowfort completely. I just do not have the brainpower to maintain two things at once. I would still encourage people to sign up and at the very least snag your current username because I *really* think Automattic has a good chance of ruining tumblr or shuttering it because they can't make money off of it.

#rat rambles#oc posting#warriors posting#spiraling upwards#long story short they had a shitty awful terrible leader who sucked absolutely ass and they tore him to shreds#I mean that literally they pinned him onto the mountain side and slashed and mauled the shit out of him so hard that his lives evaporated#and several of the cats involved in that scene are sill alive and major parts of the story and I love them#oh also the cat that pinned him through a stab through the throat was his own daughter btw everyone hated his ass so much#and for good reason get his ass#alas in the main story I dont rly get to go too deep into how he harmed everyone involved mostly just three main ones#aka bristlestar because shes murtlepaw's ghost mom dawncrackle because hes also haunting murtle and gullspot because shes bristle's kit#so basically all the flashbacks we get involve those three in some form or another#honeystar was also there and involved but Im not currently planning on having her rly talk abt that#most of her more modern angst is the fact that she was forced into leadership against her will#and shes been alive long enough that shes been leading birchclan far longer than she ever lived in her old clan#but she did go through a lot of shit before birchclan was founded and it definitely shaped her a lot#she used to be a very determined and high spirited lil kitty cat who tried to be optimistic#but her family began to slowly be picked off one by one by both the old leader and the one whod later get evicerated#some of the older cats around her hoped it make her back down from her revelutionary ideas but she noticed that and it backfired on them#instead of being worn down to submission she became absolutely Furious and began to lash out more and become more demanding#it got to the point that she really only had two friends in the entire clan and one of them was her aunt whod later also die after coming#out abt having witnessed the leader killing his own kits#that was the final fucking straw for her and she was fully on board when bristle and dawn started looking for cats to join their rebellion#she did get rly frustrated with them as they waited patiently for the right moment but her remaining bestie kept her from going apeshit#so once the big fight finally broke out she was more than eager to join the hoard of cats chasing the bastard upwards#now unlike some of the other cats involved this legitimately actually made her feel a lot better for a while#for the first time in ages she finally felt like she could be optimistic abt smth again and was excited abt the idea of leaving this place#she had lost so much in this damn place since she was an apprentice and just wanted to finally be able to rest easy#but once they got to their new territory and set up camp things went south real fast as a flood fucked everything up#and after losing the only cat she had left in her life and losing her tail and being made deputy on top of that she deteriorated quickly

well i'm having an evening, certainly
#friday chats#it's one of those days where every little misfortune piles up and then you feel like shit#the most recent being i noticed i chipped my 3DS. when it's closed on the hinge side right below the right camera button#three little pieces have cracked off. and i have them still so i'm inquiring to a friend if i can superglue it#but i know how it cracked and it's my own fault#(kept it in my backpack's side pocket w/o its case and setting said backpack down too hard must've done it)#i've had this thing nearly ten years and it's still in pretty darn good condition! i'm really upset that i've chipped it!!#it's got a ton of memories attached to it and i still use it all the time!!! and it still works perfectly fine i turned it on to check#but i've tarnished something important to me and it sucks knowing that when i've taken such good care of it for this long.#and i know i'm kind of focusing on this one thing#but it's like. a tangible thing. not the intangible worries and stresses i'm dealing with. so it's easier. if that makes sense?#bc good GOD do i have plenty of intangible things on my back right now#just. eugh. hopefully tomorrow will be better :/

#poetry#my work#lane archives#chronic pain#chronic migraines#chronic illness#this poem is still pretty ouch#the us medical system can really suck in its cyclical lack of progress regarding finding out what's “wrong” with a person#due to crazy long wait times for appointments & processing referrals as well as 4 profit health insurance#my chronic migraines had to escalate into epilepsy for me to be seen by an actual neurologist and be taken seriously & even now I still fee#neglected by the system#not because my drs are bad but because they're overloaded with patients#it's really exhausting & difficult to have to fight at every turn to receive the care we need & deserve when we're bent over in pain#in my experience this repetitive cycle really broke down my ability to advocate for myself for a while because I was just too depressed#but hey if you're reading this and you relate: I love you. You deserve to feel better and to be supported by your physicians#I'm getting better care now but healing isn't linear#and if you have insurance & you're feeling absolutely fucking crushed by the system pls look up if they have a nurse advice line & call the#to see if they're able to set up a complex care coordination plan & if the nurses themselves can set up appointments for you#it really helps to have an insurance lady or 3 you can call to set up appts & referrals or check on them to see where they're stuck#I could write a poem dedicated to all the wonderful women in social services who are literally saving my life every time they call

I realized I never actually talked about the tweaked omegaverse setting I’ve been thinking about! It’s something I might use for a spinoff of a modern Euplerian au cuz I think it could be neat uvu
In this setting the secondary genders are more fluid, able to change depending on the eupie’s pack hierarchy. Everyone is born beta but can become alpha or omega, and even revert back to beta to later become something else based on their life circumstances.
Two individual can become alphas if they decide to start a family together, making them an alpha pair able to have offspring. A beta can slowly shift to alpha should their pack view and treat them as their leader, instinctually becoming the new alpha. A beta can also force control over a group of other betas to create a forceful shift to become an alpha.
However, should the alpha lose their pack or family there’s a high chance their secondary gender will revert back to beta since they’re no longer the leader of a group.
Omegas work similarly but on the opposite spectrum. Instead of being the leader at the top of the hierarchy, they’re the jester at the bottom. Low betas are often corned into becoming omegas, often due to stressed-out packs taking out most of their frustrations, verbally and/or physically, on one single packmate. An omega's role is to destress their pack, usually by being playful and submissive towards the pack betas to help them have fun and relax. It is however very common for them to turn into the betas’ punching bag and many omegas will have scars from past aggressions.
In more well-adjusted packs omegas aren’t always needed, but a beta can still slowly shift to an omega if many of their packmates come to them to talk, play, or to relax. While it’s an alpha’s role to lead, it’s an omega's role to entertain and many betas from peaceful packs look forward to spending time with their omega.
Similar to alphas omegas will often revert back to betas should they lose their pack. But in the case of betas who wear scars that signify their past pack role as an omega, they’re very often thrown back into the same position and become omegas again if a new pack takes them. Marked omegas are also often undesirable as mates, as even if they were to start a family and become an alpha people would still view them as an omega due to their scars.
#pom talks#omegaverse#the au I had in mind would p much have an irl setting with the biggest difference being that everyone are euplerians#Dream shifted into an alpha due to Sapnap and George always looking to him for advice#Sapnap gets cornered into shifting to omega due to a shitty group of friends#But the moment they turned physical Dream told him to move in with him so Sap only has one little scar on his face#He could revert back to beta without anyone knowing he was once omega but finds he don't really mind the role as long as he has a nice pack#George is a classic beta#He don't really like following commands but thinks both the alpha and omega roles are too taxing so he's happy#Karl is also a beta but a lot of people mistake him for omega due to his playful and energetic nature#Foolish is a rare 'true' alpha which basically just means his hormones are locked and his secondary gender can't change#which sucks because he hates being an alpha and want's nothing more than to be an average beta#he has great friends tho and after talking about it with them they start treating him like a beta#which he couldn't be happier about because it means less responsibilities and more time playing with his omega friends!#Punz is in a similar situation to Sapnap where an old group of friends made him shift omega#they were nice first but eventually got more physical which Punz absolutely refused to deal with and would regularly snap back#eventually getting him kicked from the pack which revered him back to beta#he has a lot of noticeable scars tho so people tend to assume he's still omega#which he don't really mind as long as people are nice about it#he eventually shift to alpha when Dream decides he wants him as a mate#making them an alpha pair

im gonna be starting my journey into a dream job of mine within the next few weeks, im SO excited!!! things are finally coming up for me!!!!
#its gonna be so fucking difficult but ive been wanting to be a pet groomer for a DECADE#my very first job was as a bather at a grooming/boarding place and i loved it even though it was hard and unpredictable#and over the past decade doing a lot of job hopping... the thing thats always on my mind is getting my grooming license#i kept psyching myself out of it bc its hard to like. actually start doing something#but i work at a pet store now and i APPLIED to be in the groomer section but i work in the retail side#this week ive been talking with a bunch of my coworkers and my boss about switching to grooming and it worked!!!!! it fucking worked!!!!!!#theyre actually listening to me and what i want to do with my time!!!! the only thing that sucks is that i still have to work in pet care#but i dont really mind that much. its not too complicated its just a bunch of set tasks to do which i thrive in#but anyways IM EXCITED!!!!! IM DOING IT IM ACTUALLY DOING IT IM FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH THINGS I WANT TO SPEND MY TIME DOING !!!!!!!!!!!!!#its been so so so long since ive had a job ive ACTUALLY WANTED and not a job that im just at to pay the bills
